Hey guys, I'm Aranium and to those old Viktor players who are still checking up on this, thanks. To new and eager Viktor players or perhaps just players browsing through a list of guides in hoping to find a new champion to add to their repertoire, what's up? I picked up Viktor about a week after he was released and it was actually a ranked fives game that I first played him. I said to my friend, "This guy looks pretty boss" and he just laughed at me and told me to wait for buffs (Other than QoL changes, there were no buffs. A sad day indeed). Now I'm an experimenter, I've always been. I don't like playing FotMs or top tier champions because that makes the game boring. To my surprise I was dishing out tons of damage to the enemy Kennen who could not see to dodge my lasers. I quickly played a few normal games then started ranking. Initially it was troublesome and I suffered a loss streak but I began to get the hang of it. Eventually I made it up to 2.3k before I had many things to take care of in real life. However, a friend did ask me how to play Viktor. Actually, multiple people did. Long story short, I figured I was retyping the same things over and over so I composed one instructional guide here on Solomid. This guide will be straightforward but in-depth. Viktor was (and still is) highly underplayed and even worse, underestimated. His burst is insanely high and he is perhaps one of the best zoners in game. Whether or not he is suitable for competitive play, time will tell. But as a solo queue carry he is certainly suitable for the job. Viktor is a very unique champion in that he can revolve around three different builds based on his Augments. I'll be informing you about how powerful Viktor can be when played correctly. Before continuing, ask yourself: What do I expect from Viktor? [title]THIS GUIDE IS SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR MID LANE AP VIKTOR[/title] But whatever, talking isn't going to get things done, I'm here to teach you how to use Viktor efficiently and not theorize what might work with him although I will argue for what does not work with him. So let's get started. [title]Why Play Viktor?[/title] He sucks right? Unless you've tried him out yourself, don't just listen to what you hear. PROS [.]Amazing burst potential [.]Augment: Death scales very well and will give decent stats for its cost [.]Can easily have a higher amount of AP than any other champ by mid game [.]Perhaps one of the best zoners in game [.]Great AOE damage [.] is very powerful when used along with another CC [.]He SHUFFLES [.]Contrary to popular belief, is actually very strong in lane [.]You will get props for dominating Unfortunately he has weaknesses that require some practice to conquer CONS [.][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] can be frustrating to aim [.]Very mana hungry [.]Very low mobility [.]Needs to be in melee range to be effective [.]Missing [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] or [imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png] will almost always make Viktor lose the fight. [.]Requires some mechanical skills [.]One less item slot Don't let the Cons overwhelm you, let's rock some people.

Perhaps one of the most important parts of the game are Runes and Masteries. Viktor needs to do well early game in order to dominate mid game. Here are the runes and masteries that I use: RUNES [imgext=] The magic pen reds help overall. Five mana regen flats with four flat armor works because as long as you're not spamming your laser you will have a steady supply of mana. The extra 5.6 armor helps because as a Viktor player, you need to adapt the skill of auto attacking constantly, ESPECIALLY if you just Power Transfered an enemy. (The animation of power transfer collides minimally with your auto attack animation. **This means if you right click a champ after you power transfer, the auto attack will follow almost immediately). The extra armor ensures your viktory on auto attack trades as very few mid players run armor at all.** EDIT: Previously I used AP / Level blues to compliment Viktor's passive (AP / Level) and put MR on quints. However, movement speed is much more vital to make up Viktor's mobility. It allows him to gank, have steady lane control, and maneuver around easily. If you don't like the combination I use, you can use any of these following runes interchangeably. Almost any combination of these runes will benefit Viktor nicely. I listed them in order of my preference and perhaps effectiveness. Red: Magic Penetration Yellow: Armor / Mana Regen per 5 (Flat or Per Lv) - I of course combine these two to my preference Blues: Magic Resist / AP per level / AP Flats Quints: Movement Speed / Magic Resist / Flat AP - Don't take AP / Lv for Quints. They're down right horrible [title]THESE ARE OF COURSE, NOT THE ONLY RUNES FOR VIKTOR. THIS COMPLIMENTS MY PLAYSTYLE AND BUILD[/title] MASTERIES [imgext=] This is pretty standard for AP. Alternatively you could put four points on Sorcery and exchange it for one point in Havoc. There's not much alternatives. I still run 21/0/9 against both burst and bruiser champions as opposed to 21/9/0. I don't see why I would run 9/0/21 ever. The additional AP and the AP / Level in the offensive tree is too valuable. [title]ADAPT OR BE REMOVED![/title]

Summoner spells are important as demonstrated by the dominance of Flash. With the variety of summoner spells to choose from, very few work with Viktor. Here are the few summoner spells I would consider. The rest don't work as well but that shouldn't stop you from experimenting. Analysis: I run this pretty much in every game. The damage over time is so useful in conjunction with your Chaos Storm and Augment: Death burn damage. It'll help you finish off kills. Analysis: League is a game where winners capitalize on the mistakes of the losers. Flash allows you to not only chase and escape but it's a free ticket to undoing a stupid move or being out of position. It's pretty much essential. Analysis: The only time I would ever run this is against a heavy AD team with practically no magic damage. It might also be viable for top lane. In theory it helps with allowing both your Gravity Field and Chaos Storm to kick in. Also it could be used as an offensive and defensive spell. Still, it's standard to run Ignite. Analysis: You can't jump over walls or instantly change positions with Ghost. I'd only see it viable if Viktor went a tanky dps build and went top lane.

Overall, Viktor has a unique kit and was Riot's first shot at making a champion who could fit different roles based on his passive item upgrade. Although individually Viktor has strong skills, I feel that as a kit, the long cooldowns make him unreliable hence further emphasizing the risk of playing Viktor. However, a mastered Viktor is deadly but it will take both time and experience. Viktor starts with an item that takes up one of his item slots, the Hex Core, that provides him with stats and can be upgraded in the store to augment one of his abilities and improve its stats. The Hex Core can only be upgraded once, for 1000 gold, and cannot be sold back to the store. Usefulness: 6/10 Personal Comments: The passive clearly dominates the early stages of the game. The extra ability power in conjunction with masteries allows Viktor to have an excessive amount of ability power without runes or items. However, this does come as a double edged sword as late game approaches. General items will be better than what the Augments offer. You also have to realize this passive is both a passive and a item slot so essentially it can be considered as a powerful passive that takes away an item slot or a decent item that gives Viktor no passive. Viktor sends a device at an enemy unit to blast them for magic damage, which then returns to him granting a shield for up to 3 seconds with an amount equal to 40% of the damage dealt before reduction Usefulness: 8/10 Personal Comments: This spell costs low mana and has decent damage. The only drawback is the return time of the shield which by then is too late to negate the beginning blows of trades and poke. It's an excellent tool to harass enemies early game especially if followed by an auto attack. The shield can be used to negate DoTs and incoming damage if used on even minions. It's a very balanced spell. Viktor conjures a gravitational imprisonment device in an area near him, slowing all enemies that pass above it. Whilst under its effect, enemies generate stacks every 0.5 seconds; at 3 stacks the target will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Usefulness: 9/10 Personal Comments: Gravity Field is one of the best non-ultimate spells in game. The only downside is the pathetic cast range which may tempt players into upgrading into the Gravity Augment. The field essentially is a barrier which punishes enemies for crossing. It's also one of the best zoning abilities and it works nicely with other crowd controls. Protip: The effectiveness of the spell does not come from the number of enemies trapped in it but rather from the placement of the spell. It can be used to zone or create an unfavorable area where enemies should not (And will not) cross [See Gravity Field / Warding]. Filling gaps to entrances such as the jungle will prevent pursuers. Protip: Place Gravity Field on a CC'd target to add insult to injury. In laning phase (although this can applied in other ways) it is wise to wait for a teammate to gank for you who has a hard crowd control. Place a Gravity Field under your enemy after your teammate engages and then unless your ultimate to ensure accuracy and maximum damage output. Viktor uses his robotic arm to fire a chaos beam that sweeps across the field in a chosen path, dealing magic damage to every enemy it hits. Usefulness: 7/10 Personal Comments: I think of this as Viktor's secret weapon that he holds until mid game to use. In terms of statistics, this spell has the lowest base damage of all your spells and has a high mana cost as well as cooldown. However, the ability power ratio along with the Augment: Laser makes this spell pack a wallop. It will do surprising damage to enemy carries mid game and is an excellent poke. Unlike every other spells in Viktor's kit, this spell has the potential to be extremely long ranged. To be a good Viktor player you cannot afford to miss your lasers (This comes with practice, trust me). Protip: Many people have trouble aiming this, but if you just want to get one target, click E, hover your mouse over the target, and instantly release it towards the general direction they're going. The laser will have it's start point at the target so if the target didn't move or barely moved, you just hit them regardless of wherever the rest of the laser is headed. Viktor conjures a chaos storm at the target location, dealing magic damage and silencing enemies in the area for 0.5 seconds. As it churns, the storm deals magic damage every second to nearby enemies for 7 seconds. Activating this ability again while the singularity is active will redirect it. The storm moves faster the closer it is to Viktor. Usefulness: 6/10 Personal Comments: Chaos Storm is the definition of destruction. The initial blast deals massive damage and the silence surprisingly catches people off guard. Landing this on a group of unfortunate Gravity Fielded champions will tickle your heart. However, the downside of this spell comes from the actual AOE size and the fact that the Churn damage rarely deals its full potential damage to an enemy. Also this spell seems to have a split second delay that is noticeable when landing on a fast moving target. With champions having more and more mobility, the Storm is unable to fully perform. However, when used properly it could be devastating. Protip: Due to the short silence of this spell, you can interrupt channels such as Katarina's Locus of Death and Karthus's Requiem as well as Twisted Fate's Destiny. Protip: The spell will lock onto the enemy champ you casted it on. If the champion is in stealth or enters stealth, the Cloud will still follow. [title]SKILL ORDER[/title] [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png][imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png] Firstly, I start by leveling up Power Transfer over Death Ray. At the earliest stage of laning, you only have to deal with the other mid champion, so you don't need the AOE on Death Ray. Power Transfer costs less mana, has more base damage, and gives a shield which is ideal for trading hits. But after rank 2 of Power Transfer, you start leveling Death Ray over it. Why? It's simple, you'll have Augment: Death soon and now the AP from your runes / masteries start kicking in. Death Ray has a higher AP Ratio so even if its base damage is lower, you will end up doing more damage. At level five in lane, you should start using Death Ray to harass in conjunction (or without if you don't want to get close) with Power Transfer. This will come as a shock to your opponent as this will be the time you first start using Death Ray. Now bear with me because this is generally where the haters hate on skill order. If you noticed, unlike other Viktors I get my Gravity Field at level eight. Why? Firstly teamfights don't happen often. If you're passive you won't need your Gravity Field to prevent a gank. Your laning power will decrease and lastly your level six burst isn't as strong if you get your Gravity Field. This is my disclaimer since this is where I get criticized the most: IF you are playing for a professional team, you can decide yourself. OTHERWISE my build suits the solo queue mentality. *Update* Playing on a team and watching renown mid players has taught me that I am correct in leveling Gravity Field at level 8. It's obvious in tournaments that the lanes are passive (for the most part). They're passive because they want to minimize errors which the enemy can potentially capitalize on. Now, most of the attention of the jungler is attracted to the top lane because mid lane is nearly impossible to gank early on if the mid player is passively farming. In Solo Queue, if you want to disregard this and play aggressive, be my guest because I do so too. However, a good mid player can avoid overextending if they last hit perfectly without adding extra damage to the creeps. Thus, it is not necessary to level Gravity Field pre-6 as a "escape" mechanism. Intelligent opponents will avoid overextending especially if your team has a jungler with a hard crowd control. This makes it tedious for you to utilize Gravity Field effectively.

The beginning of the guide sums up my build nicely. But here is a list of viable items on Viktor. Choose wisely as you have one less item slot than other people. Pretty simple since boots are mandatory on him. I'd run Alacrity for the upgrade but don't get it til after max build. Even after the nerf, Deathcap adds an enormous amount of ability power to your pool. The good thing about Viktor is that he doesn't need AP heavy items to do a lot of damage mid game. However, you'll want to pick this up as your first item. The ability power is too valuable. This item does wonders and its burn damage is very effective with your augment: Death. Also due to Gravity Field which is a movement modifier, the burn damage from Liandry's will double. You can rush it before a Deathcap if you are snowballing otherwise buy a Haunting Guise [imgsmall=items/haunting-guise.png] and continue with the build and upgrade to Liandrys later. The expensive cost of this price and the fact that armor and resistance are more valuable than flat HP late game makes this item very average. It compliments Viktor's play style but it's simply too much. I'd only build this if I really need to get tanky. Pretty self explanatory. You'll want to pierce though magic resist. I'd only get if the enemy carries are bulding magic resist or if two or more people begin to build magic resist. It's not your job to deal with the tanks although a laser through them will tell them to hop off. This item is fairly decent but with the uprising of bruisers, it's not as vital anymore. However against a team that has ability power, this item is a masterpiece. Gives a truckload of AP and the armor will put you well over 100 by level 18. You can cast your spells, then drop your ult, then activate this priceless effect and watch your creation in action. This item is your go-to item against bruisers. Not a bad item to consider getting if you are against a team that has complete physical damage. However, I'd only get this if I also have a Zhonyas Hourglass. Very useful for its price and ensures that it'll take more than one cc to stop your damage The new changes makes this item very lacking. If I had a sixth inventory slot, this item would be the way to go but other items are more important in keeping Viktor able to do his damage. But who knows, it does give a truckload of AP. Unlike most champs, if I get this, I get this as a last item. You don't need to sustain in lane but I would still only get this item if you're running double AP with double WotA on your team A QSS is, in my opinion, more useful because your veil can always be popped by something as simple as Ashe's Volley. However this will give you decent stats. You're close up, you have 600 AP, you might as well auto attack them for another 600 damage. I don't find this very useful. If you had a 6th slot, then maybe. If you have blue, you really don't need the mana regen. If you don't have blue it's not recommended to fight. The cost is expensive for the only two essential stats (AP and MR). Just stick with an Abyssal. It's still a new item and I might try it a few times. Unless you're going tanky there is absolutely no reason for this. Tanky AP doesn't even work because there's no way you'll 1v1 an AD carry unless you're fed. Sure its stats are awesome but you won't be doing damage until late game where you start to fall off. It can look good on paper but it's bad in action. Same applies for Arch Angels.

Power: +3 Ability power per level / 220 Hitpoints / 6 HP Regen per 5 / 30% movement speed upon using [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png]. Analysis: Do you really need the regeneration? Is 220 Hitpoints going to save you OUTSIDE of laning? Sure you might lack mobility but the 30% movement speed DOES NOT make up for it. Also, what's the point of going tanky? Swain and Vlad are both tanky casters because they have natural sustain their spells are low cooldown or DoTs. Gravity: +3 Ability power per level / 200 mana / 10% CDR / 5 Mana per 5 regen / 30% cast range on [imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png] Analysis: Stats are appreciable, this certainly is not a bad choice but for your moneys worth and how Viktor is played, I think there's still a better option. You'll notice a lack of damage compared to Death especially if you're [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] dependent. Death: +3 Ability power per level / 45 Ability power / 30% extra damage on [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] Analysis: [imgsmall=items/blasting-wand.png] is 860 gold. Augment: Death is 1,000 gold. BUT you also get 30% more damage over 4 seconds on [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png]. Think about it. Pretend everytime you use your laser, you get an addition 30% AP. Lets say you have 400 AP (Which you should once your Death Cap is finished). Take 400 -> 400 * (0.30) + 400 = 520. WOW? I get an invisible 120 AP everytime I cast my laser? I didn't even include the base damage of laser. Anyways your laser is going to be your most useful move in teamfights. I don't want to go too indepth to this but I'll take personal questions in the comments.

Laning is very important. Here are things to keep in mind. [.]Do not use [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] early on, it is very mana consuming and the damage it deals is pathetic early game. Of course you can use it if you feel like you need to last hit some creeps under tower or if you need it to engage, but don't try to harass until it's ranked a bit higher unless you have to. [.]SPAM [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png]. It practically costs nothing with the mana regen. Also since the enemy is looking to trade hits, make sure you auto attack them once before walking back. This way, if minions attack you, they'll do no damage because of your small shield. [.]Dodge spells. This is obvious but Viktor cannot take free damage or it will strongly add up. [.]Play aggressively but safely. Ward one side of the map and stay close to that side. You'll have vision if the jungler comes. Also if they have a Warwick, or some passive jungler, don't be afraid to extend. But at the same time don't overextend too frequently. Make sure the other AP carry knows who's in charge. [.]Deny while CSing. This is fundamental. Make sure you're last hitting but if they try to last hit, hit them with your spells. [.]If you kill them make sure you push out the lane ASAP and then back up. You want to deny them farm to the tower. Don't be stupid and hang out with 50 HP though. [.]Be cautious and alert. Keep your eye on the map at all times. [.]When you hit level 5 and have level three [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png], now is the time to use it to harass because the damage finally kicks in for the mana cost. [.]Against heavy roamers, keep wards near both sides of the river in brushes so that your other lanes are aware if the enemy mid laner roams.

Difficulty: 8/10 Analysis: Early game, Ahri does not have her damage nor her insane mobility. Take this time to harass her in lane. After she is level 6, it becomes fairly more complicated. It's more wise to let her engage on you before you burst her because she can get very hard to land skills on, especially your Chaos Storm. It's also fairly annoying to gank other lanes because she can trail you. Ward the side brushes or a bit further to stop her from roaming. If you can dodge her charm and land your ultimate, you will win the lane. Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: It's very hard for her to farm against you. It's advised to make sure you auto attack her and spam your power transfer as often as possible. Her shroud will make it hard for you to kill her but this will be a skill match up. You have the advantage, if she tries to farm, you will harass her out of lane. If she harasses back, there should be no way she can farm. After level six it's almost the same game as Ahri. Do not let her snowball off your teammates. She will fall off harder than you but if she jumps on you, place your Gravity Field on yourself. You'll win late game if she doesn't get fed. Difficulty: 9/10 Analysis: A well played Anivia will completely destroy Viktor. You would have to burst her down twice and your long cooldowns will prevent this. If you want to kill her in lane, you will need ganks. However assuming you do kill her mid game, the best thing to do would be to count to five and place a Gravity Field down so when she revives, she'll be stunned for another second or so. Teamfights are tricky, she has much more utility than you and can match your damage. Diffiulty: 3/10 Analysis: Well I haven't seen any Annies lately but honestly it shouldn't be a problem. The only annoying thing is that her auto attack range greatly outnumbers yours. You have more utility than her and your burst is better if anything. Difficulty: 4/10 Analysis: If anything, farm against him until late game. Fed Brands can be a wreck but they don't snowball nearly as hard as other champs. Brand WILL fall off late game. In terms of lane, you shouldn't have a hard time since your movement speed quints will allow you to dodge his spells. If he happens to land a spell on you, you can negate his passive burn by quickly Power Transfering the first thing you see. As long as you don't get stunned by him, you will win the trade offs. Difficulty: 8/10 Analysis: Cassiopeia is a champion that will abuse your lack of mobility. She easily wrecks Vladimir and Ryze in lane because they have to get close to damage her. It's the same with Viktor. You MUST dodge her Q's or her movement speed bonus and her constant harass will demolish you. The best way to deal with her is to get obtain a blue buff (If your jungler gets counter jungled, it's a hard time for you as well) and simply harass her with E constantly. Your max range on Laser will easily outrange her. However, in a direct fight, you have to predict when she'll use her Gaze. Preferably catch her by surprise because you can burst her but likewise she can burst you. Overall it's a skill matchup favoring Cassiopeia. Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: Pre-6 Diana is a joke. She is quite tanky but take the same approach as Akali. Instead, Diana WILL run out of mana if you constantly harass her unless she starts with a flask. Its unlikely you will harass her out of lane due to her natural tankiness. Post 6 she will be much more of a hassle although she should not be able to burst you down. Her shield and natural base HP will prevent you from bursting her. It's an easy lane to farm but be cautious. Chalice would not be a bad item. Overall you will want to take it to team fights. Difficulty: 2/10 Analysis: In laning phase you will demolish her. Constantly auto attack and spam your Power Transfer. However, do not let her get close to you. Post 6, you can burst her before she can burst you. The main problem with this match up is your lack of ability to control her roam. I would keep the lane pushed. It wouldn't be bad to rush Abyssal first. Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: In terms of laning you can completely crap on him. However, once he gets to six he can easily burst you as well as dodge your spells. Once again it's a skill match up. However, abuse early game and deny him and harass him as much as you can. It's a bit harder with flask introduced in the game. Late game anything goes. Difficulty: 4/10 Analysis: Laning phase is very easy and should be no trouble. He'll prove much harder to deny and let along kill. Watch out for the flash ultimate ganks. In lane it'll be very passive although he can shove pretty hard. In team fights a good Galio ultimate will win the game so be cautious. Difficulty: I want to say 2/10 but it's going to be 4/10 Analysis: Before the flask update, you completely dominated Gragas. However, the flask is very troublesome and it will be much harder for you to shove Gragas out of lane. You can burst him down but he can do the same. Be careful of his roams and make sure you follow him. If you manage to snag a kill you will snowball. At the same time harass him in lane anyways. You should be him in CS and soon enough the gold he paid for the flask and hp pots will start to hurt him after the first trip back. Difficulty: 7/10 Analysis: I rarely face this match up so I can't really say much about it. Theoretically Heimerdinger can push you out of lane. You will need jungle pressure. In terms of team fights you should be able to do more than him. I don't play Heimer so I really don't want to say much and mislead you. Difficulty: 1/10 Analysis: Previously I said Karthus was a hard matchup. Unless I'm proven wrong again, I changed my mind. He's easy to farm against and easy to kill. The only problem is that he overshadows you completely late game. But try to prevent him from getting there. Difficulty: 7-9 / 10 Analysis: If they have a crappy jungler, your auto attacks should force Kassadin into submission. Post 6 Kassadin becomes a major problem. He can interrupt your combo and escape from it. He can also roam much better than you. It becomes quite annoying. The best way to prevent his roam is to shove mid constantly. Difficulty: 4/10 Analysis: You can beat her in lane but a good Katarina will just try to play passive and farm. In this case, I wouldn't try to push the lane at all. The best way to deny her is to let her farm with her bouncing blades (this will cause the lane to push towards you). Then you will be able to zone her out. Her no resource and ability to snowball can prove problematic. But you can prevent that from denying her early on and following her if she roams. Your ultimate stops her ultimate, just remember that. Difficulty: 3/10 Analysis: It's an easy match up except Kennen can dodge your harass and farm from far away. It's hard to shove him or kill him in lane. Just go with the flow and try to Gravity Field him if he comes too close. Difficulty: 9/10 Analysis: After a certain point, you can't harass him out of lane anymore. Your jungler can't counter jungle either because Kha'zix will burst you instantly. His single target damage is quite horrifying. It's not a match up you want. The best way to deal with him when he jumps on you is to place your Gravity Field under you. Hourglass is recommended. It's also quite a hassle to stop him from roaming because if you follow him he can turn and kill you. Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: Leblanc is infamous for her burst. So are you. Early game she will run out of mana if she trades with you. With my set up, you won't as long as you're trading with Power Transfers and auto attacks. Post 6 it's whoever nukes who first. Her Sigil of Silence will screw you over. Also her dash will avoid your ultimate. The best bet is to beat her early game. Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: It's almost the same approach as Kha'zix except he has no direct way of jumping on to you if you stand behind minions. Do not let him land a Q on you. However, don't play passive in lane either. You can constantly harass him early game and it should work as he's unlikely to start with more than 3 hp pots. Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: Lux is becoming a standard AP carry and it's pretty clear why. Burst and low cooldowns as well as her crowd control can prove dangerous. Early game she's not a threat unless you get ganked and get hit by a Spell Binding. You need a team that can hard engage or she'll poke and disengage fights. Difficulty: 8/10 Analysis: Morde's shield and ability to push counters Viktor. Don't let this disgruntle you. Put pressure by constantly harassing him preferably when his shield is down. Avoid his E when he comes to waveclear. If he pushes hard, your jungler should have free ganks. Difficulty: 7/10 Analysis: It's easy to farm against her but you can't kill her and she'll do more in teamfights. She becomes a hassle with blue because she can farm all day. Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: She's easy to lane against and you can burst her in a 1v1 situation. The problem is her ability to excel in teamfights. Her astounding mobility and utility will leave you in the dust. A good Orianna will just farm against you because she knows she'll do more late game. Difficulty : 3/10 Analysis: You stomp him in lane. As long as you're harassing him he can't farm. If he harasses back he will run low on mana. However, if you fail to do this and he gets his full build, he will demolish you and your team. Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: Unlike most matchups, you want to avoid getting close to him. He has a similar play style to Cassiopeia except it's less punishing if you do get hit by him. If he gets tanky it's troublesome to burst him down but if he doesn't feed off you, you can do more in teamfights than he will. Difficulty: 9/10 Analysis: You will be useless to a well played TF. TF can farm from safe away and outpoke you. Likewise he isn't dependent on mana and doesn't have to be in lane to farm. At level 9, TF can red card and wild card to clear an entire wave then proceed to gank. It's advisable to keep a ward to make sure you have vision of TF and to even flash and Chaos Storm him if he tries to teleport. Difficulty: 3/10 Analysis: He's easy to beat in lane. It's just that he can kill you so easily later on. This is one of the few games I would get both a Banshee Veil and an Abyssal Scepter. Difficulty: 3/10 Analysis: Vlad hasn't proved challenging to me thus far. I'd actually wait until level three before spamming my power transfer on him. You do way more damage than he does and I advise you to poke him with laser after level 4. If he drops too low just go for the kill. Be cautious and try to bait his pool or you'll look like a fool. Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: Similar to Twisted Fate, he can farm from far away and you can't get close to him. Unlike Twisted Fate, he can't abuse other lanes as easily. If you manage to get into close range of him, you will win the fight. Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: Man, the last few champs all have poke and long range. Once again take a similar approach to Xerath and Twisted Fate. However, he can out damage you if he plays it right. In terms of trade, I would NOT try to directly trade with him because his auto attacks will do significantly more damage than your own. Poke him out with laser, become the laser, become the winner. Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: Plants hurt... A LOT. Instead of auto attacking her to harass her, I would play it safe and wait until level 6. You win the trade offs if you dodge her snare. It's a skill match up to your favor.

During early game, approximately levels 1 - 9, your job is to farm and deny the enemy in lane. Keep dragon control and if you do win your lane, don't forget to gank other lanes. Viktor is a very powerful tower diver. Ask the corresponding lane to push the tower, if they're overextended you should come straight from the river. Even if wards catch you, if they're too extended, they can't back up fast enough. Don't forget to follow your lane opponent if they attempt to gank other lanes. Purple line: Route to follow to greatly avoid detection when diving blue's tower. Blue line: Route to follow to greatly avoid detection when diving purple's tower. [imgext=]

You are extremely powerful at this stage of the game. If you have your Death Cap, ask your teams to force fights. If anything, just dive or force enemies to give up towers. Stop farming because your overall damage is unmatched. Levels 10 - 15 , secure Dragons, push lanes. This is the time for you to do action. If you have blue buff, siege towers and use your Death Ray to harass. Counter jungle, do whatever because as long as you're with your team, you should be able to do considerable amounts of damage if a team fight starts. Don't forget you have only five item slots. Your Augment will start to slowly scale off because the AP bonus is not as significant late game.

Hopefully you took advantage of your mid game because to be blunt, this is where Viktor falls off. Your damage will only go downhill from here and because you need to stay in close range to deal damage, you need to start building survivability. Levels 16-18 the enemy AD is no longer afraid of you. You might still burst him depending how fed you were but unless the other enemy AP scales off hard late game as well, you'll notice team fights will be harder to win. Make the most out of your Gravity Field. Zone the enemy carries with Chaos Storm. If anything take a similar approach in sieging but just don't get caught or you'll lose. You have great poke. Don't underestimate yourself either, you still hurt but now this is where Viktor's lack of mobility bites him.

Team Fights are an important part of this game and will frequently determine the outcome of the game. To maximize Viktor, you must not only succeed in lane but use that advantage in team fights. No one needs to be the star of the game. In order to win team fights, you must understand what you have to do. [title]Your job is to[/title] [.]Burst down the squishies right away, especially carries. Your mid game damage is INSANE [.]Control the fight by using [imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png] [.]Secure exits and entrances with [imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png] [.]Finish Low HP Targets [.]Zone targets by using [imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png] to chase away targets. Remember the enemy carries don't have to die. If they're out of the fight because they're scared of your Cloud, you did your job. [.]Stay close but safe at the same time (Sometimes this is impossible) [title]Your job is not to[/title] [.]Initiate, seriously don't run in unless you're 100% sure you can burst one champion and run back [.]Tank, don't go in the middle of the crowd after your tank goes in, stay back. Of course if one of your teammates are low and you are full, you should take hits for them or stand in between then and the enemy. [.]Protect and Peel, yes the AD Carry's life is vital but it should be your tank or supports job to make sure the carry is safe. Remember, your job is to deal damage. That being said, don't just ditch your AD carry either. Everyone has a responsibility. [.]Facecheck, if you can't resist, [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] gives vision. That's pretty much it and resist the urge to be a solo queue star. If opportunity comes, there might be additional things you can do or things that don't necessarily apply to the given guidelines.

[title]I feel that people don't know how to use Gravity Field correctly. Here I'll show you some pictures. The common theme in these are that they are used in a similar fashion as Anivia's Ice Wall. Such that they block off a path. Of course these aren't the only ways to use Gravity Field but it serves a nice purpose outside of its actual effect[/title] [title]Baron Control[/title] Baron control is very important, use this to secure enemies from reach you if you are doing Baron. Vice Versa these can be used to stop initiations from Baron baits. [imgext=] [imgext=] [title]Dragon Control[/title] Dragon is a very important objective early game. Use Gravity Field for the same reason you would use Baron. Another tip would be to actually place the Gravity Field on the small opening in the Dragon's Den so that if the enemy is doing Dragon, they'd be stuck or retreat. [imgext=] [imgext=] [title]In the Jungle[/title] Here are some good hot spots to put your Gravity Field. Feel free to put them anywhere else but blocking off intersections will hurt the enemy a lot in fights. [imgext=] [imgext=] [imgext=] [imgext=] [title]Warding[/title] It's nice to ward Baron or Dragon but it's not completely necessary as it is not your job. However do keep mind of your own lane responsibility. On each side, use one of the two ward spots. I prefer the brush because it allows me to check if the jungler is ganking from there but warding the slopes is very important as well. Don't ward all 4 at once because you'll be losing a lot of money though. [imgext=] [imgext=] [imgext=] [imgext=]

Here are some nice tricks and tips I found over the course of using Viktor. Practice makes perfect. [.]As I mentioned, [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] is fairly simple to land on a single target if you just put your cursor on the champ and release immediately. (Note: You have to be in range but the laser will be almost immediate making it nearly impossible to dodge because the starting point of the laser is infact where the target is at) [.]If you cast your [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png] and then do the trick above, both spells will land almost at the same time. [.]Start from the edge of your [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] to make it a pretty long ranged spell. [.]After the initial damage [imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png] can be used to chase enemies away, especially carries. [.][imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png] Has a silence. Nice for interrupting things like Kat's ult, Karthus's ult, you get the idea. [.]Common sense but using [imgsmall=skills/viktor/w.png] on CC'd targets will ensure a stun [.]And don't forget Gravity Field can be used to zone out areas, not just CC. [.]Make sure you use [imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png] relatively early in the team fight so its 7 seconds can be utilized. That being said, don't just waste it. [.][imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] gives vision. Think twice before face checking. [.]You can easily take wraiths in between creep waves (This works past level 8 with Augment: Death) Simply [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] the desired wraiths then [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png] the large ones. For enemy creep waves you want to leave one small wraith left: For our creeps you want to kill them all so they reset: [title]NOTE: Sorry I cut the clip half a second too early but they all die from Augment: Death's DoT effect[/title] [title]NOTE: THIS DOESNT WORK ANYMORE AFTER THE JUNGLE UPDATE[/title]

Well because it was demanded that I put some videos of me playing Viktor, I'll show you some clips here. Nothing special but I think they highlight a lot of what I want to say in this guide. I couldn't upload full games due to lack of resources. Keep in mind these are against 2.2k players Laning: Preparing and doing Baron *UPDATE* So my good friend Studio was able to take my replay and make a full video out of it. He does these daily videos which really highlight aspects of the game. You should check out his Youtube account here The two parts are actually the full game of the two videos up there. I won't delete those two because those two moments are some pretty good highlights. These videos have nothing *spectacular* but due to popular demand here are some videos. Part 1: Part 2: [title]TOP 5 Plays (It's not much but it was pretty funny during the actual game) [/title] Well here I played Viktor in MLG Qualifiers. I don't get a chance to play him a lot in actual tournaments. It's not in my view but you'll see some Viktor action.

Well this guides come to a close. It was enjoyable making it and now I hope this helped you. If this guide isn't working for you, add me some time and if I'm free I'll be glad to check what you need to work on. I might add some footage of my playstyle when I have time. This is my first guide on Solomid but I did make one on Mobafire although everyone told me to put it in Solomid. But I didn't want to just copy and paste all of it, I revamped and improved most of the guide. I'd like to thank everyone who supported my Viktor. Have a good one!
