Hi I'm Pants are Dragon, a CHALLENGER solo queue player, also subbed for Complexity Gaming once in the NACL and I've been playing since the release of Nocturne, my first champion was Teemo and I grew in love with his champion select quote \"Captain Teemo on Duty\" and ultimately the game. I actually didn't make my name, it was given to me by Riot! My old name was jlzzdragon and then Riot changed my name to this and I feel like I was trolled to oblivion, but at the same time I grew with great power, and from that day I knew I would be one of the best! For those who want to view my other guides, check the description in this video as it lists links to other guides and is updated thoroughly: [vid=] Check out my 4 minute guide series, here is one about Xin Zhao! For those interested, here's my summoner profile: [imgext=] I main'd Xin Zhao when I found out [imgsmall=items/locket-of-the-iron-solari.png] was a very good item on a main tank Jungler in Season 2 (3?) Xin Zhao also carried me from 2000 ELO to 2150 ELO. And then when the new league season came out I went from PLAT 1 to DIAMOND 1 (pretty steep jump eh?) I like him because he has no skillshots, and his mechanics require no skill and is a easy champion to use. Because all you have to do is smash your QWER and win. PROS: - Really strong early ganks - Displacement Ultimate - Slowing Gap Closer every 6(?) seconds - Has 15% reduce armor (really strong in Season 3) - Can disengage with [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png] - [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png] strong Attack Speed steroid. - A lot of fun with 40% CDR - Can't think of more than 3 cons. CONS - If built damage, is really squishy. - Needs health to survive in team fights - GOT NERFED Q_Q

Why over ? Alright so yes, if you max'd Q you'd be using it every 5 seconds. Okay but you're not keeping up with the enemy. Your waiting on (14-3 = 11) seconds to slow him, and get to the enemy. Now if you max E, you'd be keeping up with your enemy every (10-3 = 7) seconds. Add 10% Cooldown it's 6 seconds. Also remember that Q goes on cooldown when you hit the 3rd hit, by the time you do your E-R-W-Q combo, you will have 3 seconds to him again. [title] Passive: Challenge[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] 15% armor shred, and the ability to not knock way your target with . With the new season 3 how armor penetration works, this skill just got a lot better. [title] Q: Three Talon Strike[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] A really good knock up that really comes in a lot in just a short amount period, and it scales with level by reducing the cooldown so it's really good to max 2nd. UPDATE: Forgot to mention that it resets your auto attack timer. [title] W: Battle Cry[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] max last but put 1 point in it at lvl 1 for jungling. [title] E: Audacious Charge[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] Max first because it has the highest cooldown, I say this because when I look at 2 skills which have equal value in stats, which ever has the highest base cooldown should be reduced first, also basically the cooldown is reduced by 3 because of [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png] so that is why cooldown reduction is worth more on Xin Zhao. [title] R: Crescent Sweep[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] Very good skill, it has really good base damage and gives a free Janna ult with a special ability to single out someone. Very unique. always use right when you E in. so E-R-W-Q-A-A-A-E. Don't use it at the end of Q because it has current health % damage. generally you'll want to hit as much people with your ultimate so you can get the extra stats it provides. I feel like Riot should change this skill by making the ultimate give 35 Armor/35 MR for 1 champion hit and 10 for any additional champions, just for convience.

So basically how to use your skills. When ganking, you basically just use [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png]-[imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png]- AA [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png] - AAx3 - [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png] and repeat. You start it this way because in this way, you make your [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png] + [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png] cooldown lower by 3. That is the reason why you use it that way and also at the same time you'll want to be moving along with your opponent. So you AA-move-AA-move-AA, this is also called Animation Canceling Animation Canceling is when you attack, there is a animation at the end that still comes after you have actually hit your opponent. So to cancel the animation at the end you basically move right after you hit the person. A prime example is when your ranged, once you shoot your projectile you have the ability to move around instead of just standing there. An example of Animation Canceling: Once you have your ultimate, your combo for ganking will be [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png]-[imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png]-[imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png] to maximize burst. You use your [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png] at the beginning because it is % current health, and also do not be afraid to use it as it's got a short cooldown.

Since I don't know how to really write this part, I'll just say what goes through my head when I'm in early game and tips. I feel that Xin Zhao is a strong ganker, and counter ganker because of the CC he brings, and the burst damage he brings. Once you get , you can dive and live through a level 1 turret for a long time. Usually when I jungle Xin Zhao, I always have the mentality of ganking crazy like mad. So I will have about 30 cs while the enemy jungler has 50 cs. I always will have low CS because ganks win games. So look for ganks, look for potential tower dives and look for kills on the map. The best ganks I love are counter ganks, as these ganks can snowball a game so hard that its a 20 minute surrender. Always keep tabs on your blue buff/red buff and do them immediately or have some ward coverage so the enemy jungler doesn't steal it, he will steal your red buff(blue side) if you're ganking top and he notices you started there and it's 7:15 minutes. I may not counter jungle a whole lot but I do like to protect my own jungle. When to do Dragon [.] Bot Lane is down Reason: When doing dragon, it would be a 4v2 if they try to contest it. [.] You see bot lane recall and mid and bot lane help. [.] Mid laner down. Reason: Mid is basically worth 1.5x of an ADC early game, because of the level advantage. So you have a clear advantage at dragon.[.] You feel confident on doing it. : You feel that the enemy team won't contest, you can out smite an enemy jungler if he tries. You basically look at team advantages in numbers. Ok if they do contest, and you know it's a clear advantage for your team, time for you to initiate and pick off the enemy team. Tell your team to turn, and you will win.

So, this works on mid's who usually push up level 1 and have no escape, anyways the strategy is basically after you do red buff, put a point in E after W, why not just go Q+E from level 2? Because you're jungle becomes very weaker early until level 3 without the attack speed buff + sustain and you gotta burn through pots. It also does more damage with W + E, less burst but you have the attack speed and you still get in close. Right after you go to you blue and your smite should be up whether you saved it or used it at the beginning of the red buff, then you gotta clear a camp for level 3.

Mid game you should have Time for you to lead your team to push towers, maintain control over dragon/baron and win. So always have a [imgsmall=items/vision-ward.png] on dragon. And if you feel real confident, do it on baron and try to secure it and estimate whether you should do baron or not. This is where also the best team fights come alive, since everyone is around level 13 and multiple variables happen instead of late game where it's peel for carries. Assassinating the enemy Carries [.] Do this when your carries are behind their carries. - Coordinate with your assassin (zed/diana/irelia) - Ask if you are going for the ADC or APC - If you guys do not focus the same target she will live that is why you'll need coordination - Initiate [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png] in and hit as many people with your ultimate as you can as you get more tankier the more champions hit. After you have initiated analyze the situation. - Target dead? Alright help your carries and make sure they live! - Target still not dead and you and your Assassin friend used all your cooldowns? Uhhh... RETREAT and peel! PROTECTING YOUR CARRY [.] Do this when your carries are ahead of enemy carries. - Anyone who is on your carry, use all neccessary cooldowns to assist in killing the anti-carry. - Do not dive straight into there back line, stay as a meat shield for your carries and be in front of them. And maybe using [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png] defensively instead of offensively. WHY NOT TO JUST SOMETIMES GO STRAIGHT FOR THE CARRIES I can't emphasize this more, I see this happen in lower ELO will just go rampage on the enemy carries and just die. He will then say \"I just tanked their whole team and died, how did you guys not win?\" Well the other team just raped your carries because you weren't protecting him and instead trying to 1v1 there carries. That's why you need coordination with someone to assassinate them. TIPS/STRATEGIES FOR WHEN YOUR BEHIND: - Turtle and farm. - Wait until other team throws (baron attempt, tower dive) - Kill any over extenders if you can TIPS/STRATEGIES FOR WHEN YOUR AHEAD: - Keeping tabs on dragon, baron and when they are up. Always getting them - Group and push mid. - Do some really hard split pushing. - Pink baron, and try to do it. - My cheese tactic, send top lane bot and make him push really hard so the enemy team tries to kill him and let your team stick around baron so you can get it.

Baron is essential this game, so always have a ward on it or pink it whatever you can do and have some security over it, this is also where 1 team fight or baron can game change everything. If played wrong you could lose the game. You also will want to tell your team to group and push/defend and not to get picked off as Baron is easier to do late game. Alright, so your carries are now who do the real damage, and now you as a main tank HAVE NO damage since you didn't build damage. You now have to protect them as if you dive into their team they will just laugh at your pitiful damage. You still have the great CC that Xin Zhao provides though. You should have a [imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png][imgsmall=items/runic-bulwark.png] at this time as the enemy ADC should have a Bloodthirster/Infinity edge + Phantom Dancer and will do tons of damage. REMEMBER IF YOU ACE THEM, TELL YOUR TEAM NOT TO RECALL AND END IT (Maybe?). Death timers are extremely long at late game point and gives a team an ability to end it.

You are the initiator, unless you have something better like . TIPS: To initiate, you will want to [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png] in, and use and hit about 2+ people to get some efficiency from it's Armor/Magic Resist steroid. If you are just going to try to pick up 1 kill , E-R-W-Q for max burst. and disengage since most cooldowns are down. Most people will dive the enemy carries alone, while relying on their own team to clean up the trash behind him and saying \"I tanked their whole team, how can you guys not kill the people behind me?\". Don't be one of those guys who think that, team fighting is a lot more complicated and even though you are tank, you should still care for your life. DURING TEAM FIGHT: Before a team fight, ask your team if you're going to go for enemy carries or protecting your own. You would want to go for enemy carry if you had these on your team.(, ) The dive comp. - Using cooldowns on the enemy carries You would want to protect your own carry if you had a tanky front line.() or peeling. - Using cooldowns on everyone who is attacking your . TEAM FIGHTING TIP [imgsmall=summoners/flash.png] out and sit in your back lines at 15% health, and then just kinda stick around and wait til your cooldowns are up to assist your team again, while analyzing the situation if you can die while still helping your team. You may think that a <15% health is useless and should recall, but until a team fight is really done do not recall unless you know you have won. VIDEO TEAMFIGHTS:

Always get a leash, and no smite. This means you save your smite for the 2nd buff holder, why? Because it opens up an opportunity for a fast gank where you are 1 level ahead of every laner, and having all 3 of your skills available with red buff also so that you're ganks will be true terror. How to effective do jungle creeps: If you have blue buff, you basically E-W-Q the creeps and just auto attack them after, basically using all your skills whenever up so you can clear camps faster. But if I don't have blue buff, I am conservative about my mana so I just activate my [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png] and sometimes throw a [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png] if I'm feeling hasty and feeling good about my mana flow. The only time I use [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png] is on wolves or wraiths. Since they have more than 2 creeps, since using it on double golems is kind of useless as it won't hit about golems. OH! And don't forget, your [imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png] is an auto attack reset. So remember to always Auto Attack and then activate it! Blue Side Route: Wraiths-Red-Blue-Gank. This route is the most efficient on this side for ganking top, since you do this route you will be 1 level ahead of every lane giving you all of your skills in your kit. Ok so 3 tips to analyze when your about to gank for top directly after your 2nd buff. [.]You will meet the enemy Jungler at top. So you can sit in your top lane's bush and wait for a counter gank (tell him to push) and go on the enemy Jungler or whoever is closest/most vulnerable and burst down. [imgext=] [.]Analyze the enemy top laner, did he start with a sight ward? Is it still in his pocket? If he did start with it and you see its gone, chances are he warded the baron pit. So what you want to do is go around through Tri-Bush. [imgext=] [.]If no ward, just walk straight from blue and gank him. [imgext=] When ganking: - If he flashes and has no other escapes, its best to flash with him and go for blood as long as you have the distance to kill him (half a lane maybe?). - Combo: E-W-Q. Also with each auto, keep moving with the enemy to ensure you keep up and that you apply your red buff slow. Example of moving with the enemy: Reasons why I don't like starting blue golem on blue side / starting red lizard on purple side. [.]Bot lane is always warded when I'm done red. So the only other lane I can gank is mid, which at most I will make them burn a flash and since I can't flash with them to their tower, they will basically hug there tower until they have some security. I only come if they are past the river at some extent.Purple Side: Wolves-Blue-Red: Basically the mirror image of blue route, and going to top. [imgext=] VIDEO OF COUNTER GANK: VIDEO OF TRI BUSH GANK: VIDEO OF GANK RIVER: Ganking Mid Since mid is a short lane, it's a hard lane to gank for and is one of the lanes in which where most Counter Gank's occur. To me this lane is a farm lane and should be left alone. Also usually one side of the river is warded, so its basically 50/50 if you can pull it off. I'll only gank for mid most of the time if - Enemy is over extent: It is easier to kill someone who is in your side of the map. - Flash is burnt: This means you can use everything on him and you and your mid can take him out. - Ally mid has some form of CC and is reliable: Kills are easier secured. - Has a reliable burst combo. : The faster we can kill him the better we can get out of there without the enemy team coming. Example champions I like to gank for: Reason: They provide reliable follow-up and crowd control so that I can rely on a for sure kill. Example champions I don't like to gank for: These champions are a bit slow on the follow up and do not provide much crowd control. I'm not saying you shouldn't gank for these champions, but it's a tad hard. There are champions I really do not like to gank and would rather leave them alone, as they are really hard to kill and basically the only way you can kill them is to make them commit. Champions I do not like ganking unless escape is burnt. at Level 6, can spirit rush away. at Level 6, can Riftwalk away. can leap away. is immune to CC. can warp backwards. These ganks will simply not be kills unless they have fully committed to a fight. You can set up a counter gank easily if you see the enemy jungler going to gank mid, inform your mid laner that you are here and you want him to bait something so you can come in and kill the squishiest champ there. Ganking Bottom The hardest lane to gank, this lane is probably the trickiest to pull off as everything is warded most of the time. I will be talking about this from blue side perspective. And also with the start of season 3 people have been warding the lane bush ( FYI: the bush that is literally in lane) And Tri bush is warded also. So what do you do? Well, you can gank them at most by going through river at 4-5 minutes, and they are over extended. Sometimes this could happen, other times they see you and run so you decide to back off. It works only half the time. You'll also have to ask your bot lane where wards are, if they don't know it's best not to waste your time with it as maybe the other team could bait a counter gank or they just go back. Another option is going for a lane gank where your support initiates and your about 5 champions back to follow up on a champion. This option is tricky to pull off but when experienced is really successful in a lot of situations. The final option is to wait for their Jungler to come in and you wait behind your team and for him to initiate and his team to commit to something they do not want to fight. While you come in to counter gank. This option can be a game changer. TIP: Aim the support, usually the ADC has some form of escape and will get away and sometimes have cleanse which is even harder to kill. Don't feel like a gank will come out of either lane? That's fine, just start farming jungle. Invading: Get first for invades. As it's a gap closer, and it's AoE. This will put you behind in the 1st 3 levels for jungling, but it's worth it for a invade. DRAGON Knowing when to dragon is key, remember its every 6 minutes. Here is a checklist of when to dragon. [.]Bot Lane went back? [.]Enemy Jungler is top? [.]Killed enemy ADC [.]Killed Mid? [.]Vision ward on dragon, and pressure on bot/mid. Here is when not to do dragon. [.]You don't have smite and enemy jungler is around. [.]Any time it could be an even fight. 4v4/5v5 [.]Soloing it, unless you went wriggles otherwise it will take a long time without help. BARON NASHOR aka Dragon V2 every 7 minutes Your probably want to attempt this when you have some armor and are level 11 and its 25+ minutes, and depending on how far ahead you are. Alright I have a trick for doing Baron Nashor and saying it will probably be exploited and people will probably never fall for it. If I'm ahead, I'll tell our top to push bot really hard to make the other team chase him, even if he has to die for it. once we see the enemy team heading for him we will start Baron and get a free baron. The reason this works is because in solo queue most of peoples' priorties are set on kills, and I play for team objectives. So since an opportunity to get an advantage by killing an over extender, this opens us to do Baron. Other than my cheese tactic, your going to want to do Baron when: [.]The enemy team does not know [.]2+ members are at bottom [.]Won a team fight. [.]ADC has Bloodthirster/Infinity Edge + Zeal Counter Jungling Yeah I never really counter jungle, I just don't like its high risk high reward play. The only time I counter jungle is if I'm far ahead, or I know I can take there buffs with team coordination. Other times I take their blue/red if I see the enemy Jungler far away from his blue/red buff at 7:05 (Which ever he started at.) Counter Ganking: Find your enemy jungler, then set up in a place where he will come and you can come kill the enemy jungler or whoever is squishier with your allied laner.

For business inquiries, contact me at (I do a little coaching) Thanks for reading my guide, I know he got a bit nerfed. But I think he's actually balanced now. I love Xin Zhao as a champion and a character, he is based off a character in one of my childhood games Dynasty Warriors 3 who is Zhao Yun, and I absolutely loved that Riot made a skin off him. He was also generally OP before the nerf, and when I found out that I climbed from 2,000 ELO to 2150 ELO, and when the new league system came out I somehow won 15 games in a row and now am Diamond 1 (2500 ELO) which makes no sense as I couldn't hit diamond before the new league system.
