Solo top is currently being filled up with bruisers and ap casters. Vayne is a very scary solo top, that can do well against many of them. She is incredible at punishing melee characters who decide to attack her or try to cs out of tower range for too long. Her mid game is filled with lots of power after denying top really well. Hope this guide will help you in a future game.

These runes I have placed that are for just watching your opponent cry. Most people who go against solo top vayne grab cloth armor, or boots. Either way, the marks for armor pen helps your damage output by a lot, mainly in mid to late game. (You can also switch the A.pen with attack speed if you choose.) Seals, I grab flat armor seals if I an against a lane that uses auto's and physical damage spells. I choose either flat/per lvl health if against an ap caster. Glyphs, pretty much per lvl if your lane is not an ap caster, if they are flat is a better choice. The quints are flat damage to allow your harass and last hitting that much easier.

[title]Passive: Night Hunter[/title] Vayne ruthlessly hunts evil-doers. She gains 30 Movement Speed when moving toward nearby enemy champions. [title]Explanation:[/title] This passive has been nerfed many times, but it still strong. A flat 30 more movement speed just being around enemy champions is pretty nice. This allows you are run around the battle field and pick off enemies in the battle. *****Note that This passive works as long as you are running towards the enemy not away.***** [title]Q: Tumble[/title] Vayne tumbles a short distance and her next basic attack within 6 seconds deals bonus physical damage. The bonus is equal to 30/35/40/45/50% of her total Attack Damage. Cooldown 6/5/4/3/2 seconds Cost 40 mana [title]Explanation:[/title] This is one of Vayne's big skill. It allows her to lots of damage, escape a gank, or catch up to an enemy. This skill is a reposition skill and a big scary kiting skill, since your range is prety short. Tumble does have a 2 second cd at max rank, but you need to attack after using it, if you truely want to tumble again. Meaning, when you are ganked and you tumble away, you may want to take the time to auto once to tumble again soon after. *Tumble's extra damage doesn't work against turrets.* [title]W: Silver Bolts[/title] Vayne tips her bolts with a rare metal, toxic to evil things. The third consecutive attack or ability against the same target deals an additional 20/30/40/50/60 plus 4/5/6/7/8% of the target's maximum Health as true damage. (Max: 200 damage vs. Monsters) [title]Explanation:[/title] As the skill says, this is TRUE DAMAGE. This makes your harass so much better. Attack three times and watch your opponent's health reach half. There is no defense against this, but hard cc, frozen heart, and cc that reduce attack speed, as this does percent health true damage. You buy a QSS in order to get rid of cc that reduces your attack speed. This allows you to harass well, as well as do a lot of damage. If you are left alone, this is what gives you the ACE. [title]E: Condemn[/title] Vayne fires a huge bolt, dealing 45/80/115/150/185 (+50% of attack damage) physical damage and knocking her target back. If they collide with terrain they take 45/80/115/150/185 (+50% of attack damage) additional physical damage and will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Cooldown 20/18/16/14/12 seconds Cost 90 mana Range 450 [title]Explanation:[/title] This skill annoys melee champions the most. They get close to you, only to get pushed back. this skill isn't for damage, but for the push back and for the stun. Just remember, the cd on this skill is long, so don't go strolling back into lane while this is on cd or you might become a tasty meal. A neat trick you can do is stun your enemy to the turret while they are cs'ing. *Remember, this skill does give you a proc on Silver Bolts* *Also spamming this will waste a lot of mana, so only use it when you need it* [title]Final Hour[/title] For 8/10/12 seconds Vayne gains 25/40/55 Bonus Attack Damage, Tumbling grants Vayne stealth for 1 second, and the bonus Movement Speed from Night Hunter is tripled. Cooldown 70 seconds Cost 80 mana [title]Explanation:[/title] This is Vayne's ult. Pretty much a self buff that makes you really powerful. The extra ad is incredible, the Stealth allows you to not be known where you are until you attack. The Tripling your passive allows you to catch enemies, while the stealth for q can help you escape in some situations. It has been nerfed many times, but it is still really strong. Activate it if you are going for the kill. *Remember when you are in Final Hour mode, keep tumbling in order to gain stealth.*

>>> [imgsmall=skills/vayne/r.png]:You want to lvl up your ult whenever possible, cause it makes you incredibly strong. [imgsmall=skills/vayne/q.png]: Maxing it basically second until lvl 3 of tumble. It will then have 4 second cd, which is what TF needs. Getting the last 2 point onto it isn't worth the 4 second less on Condemn. [imgsmall=skills/vayne/w.png]: Max it 1st at 9 in order to have the highest damage amount. this lets you harass well. [imgsmall=skills/vayne/e.png]: Max it second, but at lvl 16, as the cd on tumble is important for the stealth and for TF proc. You max this second for the CD gets lower by 4 seconds every lvl. There are some champions, like Riven and Monkey. Where you will want to max [imgsmall=skills/vayne/e.png] first before any of the skills. **One amazing thing about Vayne is that her mana cost do not go up, so you CAN easily lvl up something else to only lose out is CD and damage.**

Items, they are a big thing that changes games. Open up with: This allows you to run away from enemies, catch up and a little sustain. All items after that are Situtational. Here are some good items and why they are good. During certain times you will want certain things, choose your items wisely. Fed=More damage Even=Sustain and a little tanky Losing=Sustain, tanky [title]Boots:[/title] Good attack speed buff. Get this if there is little cc. I tend to get these when I feel like I'm having an easy lane. The tenacity is a good plus against Double AP comp.s and comp.s with hard CC. I rarely get this, but I will if I find that the enemy team doesn't have much cc to shut me down and I'm laning against some who does a good amount of physical damage. [title]Items that you should buy (Not highest priority):[/title] This item is too hard to pass by, as it gives you a cleanse. just remember to activate it correctly. Every time you go back, you should buy 1 or 2 of them to ensure you are safe. For sustain in lane. The 35 gold is worth it. Just a good all around item. Ad, life steal, and health. Just get 2 at max. This allows you to life steal back to full, just by harassing or last hitting. Just go back when you are really low. This works well with Vayne really well. Everything it gives is good for Vayne. Get it if you need to be a little for tanky, while not losing too much damage. If you hold onto one of these in lane, you can use it as a fake [imgsmall=summoners/heal.png] in lane. Grab these during late game. Grab this mid/late game. Don't wait until you have 6 items. This buffs you quite a lot for the time it is working. [title]Typical items to buy:[/title] You would need to buy this item if the enemy is buying a lot of armor. Just an overall good item on Vayne. Attack speed for W, movement speed with your passive, and crit for more damage. Just a scary item on Vayne, the attack speed, ad, and passive work really well on her. If the enemy isn't going for a lot of armor, this is a really good choice to buy. You can grab this item as an upgrade from vamp. This is the only item that gives you crit., AD, and crit. damage. It raises your dps by a lot. [title]Items against AP top (Situation):[/title] The MR, and the ad, as well as the shield lets you do well against AP tops. If you bought Hexdrinker, why not upgrade it. This item wrecks duo ap teams. It gives you a really strong shield. Attack speed, MR, and more damage. For a cheap 2150. What more can you want against AP. [title]REALLY SITUATIONAL ITEMS:[/title] If you are having a tough lane. It also helps in fast dragons. The free ward is just a cherry on the top. If your opponent as a movement speed buff spell, you may want to buy this to get you target easier. Ex: Garen. If you opponent is going for fast armor, you can go for fast armor pen. The enemy team has many (4) tanky people, No problem. *This does in fact lower you damage output on squishy targets however.* You opponent can now not run away or get to you unless they have a gap closer. Get it, if the enemy can run fast and you need the health. Counters AOE comp's as you will need to be killed 2 times. Know that this can counter Morde pretty hard. [title]Selling [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png]:[/title] For those who don't know when to sell [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png], just use your gut. Think to yourself, if I sell it, will I have enough money to buy the next item? I usually start selling [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png] when I have 3 completed items including boots.

[title]Summary:[/title] In early game, you want to deny your opponent really hard. Auto them, if you need to proc your [imgsmall=skills/vayne/w.png] and if they are pretty far, tumbling to proc it is really nice. Remember you want to be cs'ing as well. Only harass if you don't need to last hit in 1 second, for early your attack speed is pretty low. Do not use tumble too often early, since it uses quite a bit of mana and the cd is pretty long. [title]Harassing and Denying:[/title] As Vayne, you want to sit back as far as you can while last hitting minions. Every creep wave, unless you have a big minion push, there is a small period that you can use to walk up and harass the enemy. An auto, [imgsmall=skills/vayne/q.png], auto with the proc on [imgsmall=skills/vayne/w.png] will deplete their health by a lot. Knowing COOLDOWNS on the enemy champions are really big as well. When you know a skill, like a stun, is on cooldown, use the advantage and harass. Heck, maybe it might be good to go for the kill. When your opponent to scared of you, and you have a good ward to make sure you know ganks are coming stand behind your opponent's minions. Of course last hit all of them. Under the turret your lane will want minion kills, if you did a nice job at harassing them, make them pay for every last hit by auto'ing them until you need to back off or you can last hit a minion.

[title]Summary:[/title] Basically it's similar to early game, just you will want to proc the silver bolts even more. When they are under turret, stunning them to the turret is pretty funny. To harass them under turret, you want to auto when you are near the edge of the turret agro area, and then back out of agro so you don't get hurt. In team fights you want to position yourself as an ad carry, as you are basically a second ad carry. **If you are still sticking to lane for some reason, only use your ult when you are 100% committed for the kill.** You may want to buy [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-agility.png] and use them right when a team fight starts, they change games. [title]Decisions:[/title] There will be many fights around dragon at this time. If you are farming top and don't have [imgsmall=summoners/teleport.png] and you know that all 5 memebers of the enemy team is doing dragon, push as hard as you can, even use your ult to take down the turret. Knowing when to Dragon is key, even though this guide isn't about jungling, knowing when to dragon, pinging it, and getting it will sway the winning side to you.

This is where you are strongest, but your team maybe at it's weakest. You don't want to hit late game as solo top Vayne, as your tank line isn't so big, although if your teammates have enough cc you maybe able to win fights fairly easily. Always have during these times, for just using them is like a buff. [title]How to finish an even match:[/title] It is hard to do this the stronger opponents you go against. You will want to catch someone out of position, making sure you are not, kill them fast without chasing and then push or kill Baron. If you still have Wriggle's, it may be worth your while to ward Baron if your support hasn't done so.

Solo top Vayne is a pick that you must think through before doing. 1 big rule, is DON'T FIRST PICK VAYNE. It isn't smart, although the opponents may think it is AD carry Vayne, JUST DON'T DO IT. This pick is VERY situational. When you make this pick, know that the enemy could be tops do not have a gap closer, or ranged harass. You also need a very good tank line, so your support and jungler need to be tanky and have hard cc. [title]Good Matchups:[/title] You can harass him at a safe distance and tumble away from his q. Although he maybe able to push, you can harass, as long as you are behind your minions. As long as you can dodge his q you are pretty much set. Know he does magic, so build MR. His harass uses mana, yours doesn't. He might be maxing oranges first, so don't expect too many kills in this lane. Just lots of cs. Pretty much what you call a breeze. No gap closers, meaning no getting killed. You should be able to deny him well. Just don't be around creeps, so he has to choose between cs or harass. You should be able to win this lane. Not seen solo top much, but similar to garen, just more faster and his ult can allow him to get to you. Just care more post-lvl.6 One scary thing to Renekton is Vayne. He can dash in, only to have Vayne either tumble away or condemn him. It's a pretty easy lane. Pretty much a counter when he has no sustain. You are like Teemo to him, just you got a push back and a back off move. Not seen often, basically post-lvl 6 care for his ult. You should be able to deny him hard. Tumble his Nevermove, tumble away from his bird. Pretty much easy win as long as you don't get caught. No gap closer fun. Just like Garen, just has stronger sustain and a shield. [title]Bad Match ups:[/title] After lvl 6 have fun dying. She has gap closers and her shroud. Building [imgsmall=items/maw-of-malmortius.png] and [imgsmall=items/wits-end.png] is a good choice. Rarely seen top, but in the end his damage output will wreck you unless you can get into late, late game. She has 2 dashes and a mini sustain. She can also harass you with her block. It's one of those lanes you want to aviod at all costs. He may not have sustain or range. But his damage output is ridiculous. A rare seen. Like Fiora, not a match up you want. His q pushes and hurts you more than your q. You will have to wait out until late game. He has large burst and will easily push you out and kill you. His stun and jump will quickly make your health bar go down. He pushes.... hard. You maybe be able to win the lane, but it is a hard lane. Buying [imgsmall=items/maw-of-malmortius.png] is advised, for his ult is then denied hard. A [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] also is strong. You can auto, she can auto. She can heal, you can't heal. Pretty much you can't harass her without her just healing it back up. The chance of winning this lane is close to zero. Buy [imgsmall=items/wriggles-lantern.png] and hope for the best. He throws axes, if you can dodge them GREAT. Just know after 6 his ult makes him a force that can't be stopped. His burst will ruin you fast. Him in a gank will make you cry. His spear harass will make you cry. His harass is stronger than you harass. His blind will make you unable to attack. Pretty much a lane that you cannot win. AP can push hard, burst you down, and deny your harass. Not something you want. Although getting [imgsmall=items/maw-of-malmortius.png], [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png], and [imgsmall=items/wits-end.png] will not allow him to kill you. If the sion is ad, you pretty much win. He burst. He silences. He slows. He is an assassin. Build Wriggles and stay safe. He jumps onto you, you get slowed, then knocked up. This with a gank = you are dead. He also has mini sustain. you pretty much lose this lane. Buying [imgsmall=items/wriggles-lantern.png] may help you. He will out sustain your harass and at 6 ganks are scary. You can still beat him out if you make sure to proc your Silver Bolts. He sustains well and at 6 with a gank, you will die. He has no sustain, but he has burst and deceive. This lane is not really winnable. Max according to his build. If health, [imgsmall=skills/vayne/w.png]. If damage, . Ranged harass and heal. End of story. Building [imgsmall=items/wriggles-lantern.png] will help you. This lane will still stay hard. [title]It can go either way:[/title] She has sustain through her autos and when she jumps onto you, it hurts. Saving condemn in a 1 v 1 against her will save you. Since she can stun when she is lower health, which is most of the time, tumble away right when she jumps on you. You maybe able to beat him if you are able to dodge his q's. But he can easily outplay you, be careful. Just stay behind minions. He can't really harass you. After 6 he is pretty scary. Although if you buy [imgsmall=items/wits-end.png] and [imgsmall=items/hexdrinker.png], mid game he is pretty weak. He lane is pretty straight forward. Like most Melee, he gets to you, you will take lots of damage. Watch out for his flag spear combo. Since he has no sustain, harassing him early game is really big. **Tumble gets you out of his ult** He likes to build up armor, although you can go through it with Silver Bolts. He will be able to hit his Q, ult, and his Attack speed debuff. Remember to auto him when you can in order to make sure his shield doesn't come back up. He isn't seen much at top lane, but when he is, just say away from your minions, like to the side, so that his Q doesn't hit you. Use [imgsmall=skills/vayne/e.png] only when he is Meditaiting or a fast escape. After 6, running after him, or away from him is kind of hard. You maybe be able to harass him, but he can lifesteal it, as well as wither you. He can slowly farm up his q and become a threat later in the game. Just don't be around walls. Her burst is pretty big, if she gets to you. She only has 1 gap closer. Although she does have a movement speed buff, passive defense, and her passive, this will make her hard to kill, unless you proc Silver Bolts. No sustain, short gap closers. If you scare her early, then you will win lane. If she is confident in her abilities, this lane could prove to be really hard. When your condemn is down, you are free food to her. Maxing condemn before silver bolts may help you in laning. Just stay behind your minions and condemn him if he comes forward. He does a lot of damage, but so can you. Just know that some Rumbles like to push lane, so use it and call for ganks. He doesn't use mana. He has a shield and ranged harass. He can beat you out, but you can also beat him out. This lane can prove to be difficult as e can spam. Basically a Difficult, but winnable lane. As long as you know when to harass him. (After using his q) and you do it often, will you win lane. Like other AP casters. [imgsmall=items/maw-of-malmortius.png], [imgsmall=items/wits-end.png], and [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] will help you beat him. You can QSS his ult. Remember he has his troll pool. If he gets to you, you will die. If you try to kill him, he has his passive. Just play safe and care. Basically you probably won't kill him, but take ignite for when you do. Tumble away when he charges and if you need to condemn him. He can spin to you and make you slow, plus lower your AD while sustaining. You may win by not allowing him to auto you. If he gets to you, you lose. It's a hard lane, but can prove to be winnable. He is quite new. His damage output is pretty great, but his mana cost are high and he has no escapes. This lane could go either way, whoever is more scared is bound to lose harder. Know to jump him when he doesn't have mana and you do, your mana cost are lower. [imgsmall=skills/vayne/w.png] allows you to do lots of damage wihtout mana, [imgsmall=skills/vayne/q.png] can be used to get away from his AOE slow or his ult and Q. If you are skilled enough to dodge, there is victory. Maxing [imgsmall=skills/vayne/q.png] first may be the way to go to dodge his skills. These are just some lane match ups. I might have not written them all. But I hope it helps.

Like most carries, positioning is key. You need to stand behind your tank line and auto the closest target. In some skurmishes you maybe able to go after squishy targets. When you get the chance, do it. Just don't go into range of being bursted. Remember, you aren't the main ad carry, but you will be doing similar damage as one. Use your condemn when they jump your ad carry, or you. Popping [imgsmall=skills/vayne/r.png] is very big, you want to do this right when the team fights start, wasting it will cause your team to lose. if you hold [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-agility.png] or [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png], pop them before/at the start a team fight occurs. **As a ranged dps, positioning, with good kiting is key. Don't just right click, when chasing walk towards your enemy and then auto them. (alternate, tumbling towards your opponent does make the need to walk forward useless, INFO: for people who can't do this yet.) You can also auto, then walk back, for kiting away from a charging target. (like before but tumbling back works as well, but I do recommend learning to do it the walk back way.)**

This is my first guide and I'm not so good at English. So I hoped you liked it. Solo top Vayne is a very scary pick to most top laners. Just by yourself it is hard to win games, so this guide won't make you win all the time, but it will helps you win more. Thanks for reading this, and I hope it helps you in future games. When I can, I will be posting pictures and maybe video's. (I would appreciate if you left a comment on what I need to improve on and what I did well. This will help me improve this guide as well as update on various things.)

Comments coming soon!
