Hey guys, it's me niNjaballa, I have literally been playing Olaf since the day he was released, if there is one person that has played Olaf enough to have tried every single build it's me. I've played him laning, jungling, solo laning, straight tank, all DPS, and off-tank DPS, by far, the best option is to jungle. He is an unbelievably fast jungler if you know what you're doing which comes with confidence. As stated, you will get very low in the jungle but you have to know what you're doing and trust in your ability that you will survive. Quick points in playing Olaf: 1. When you use Smite while jungling, ALWAYS USE IT WHEN YOUR W ABILITY IS ACTIVE. Your Vicious Strikes gives you passive spell vamp and lifesteal, meaning when you use your smite, you GAIN life back when your W is active. 2. Use your Q when you first start a jungle camp and when they're all low enough to die, it does more damage than auto attacks, but takes longer to actually hit the creeps and for you to then auto attack. So, if you use it when the creeps are low they will die giving you life back through spell vamp and you will keep it because the creeps will die. 3. Always remember, you can EASILY clear jungle in one route through, no matter how low you are, unless something has gone terribly wrong, which you must self-diagnose, you will always be able to lifesteal and spell vamp your way back to a good amount of health.

Runes for junglers are very basic. I'll run through a few possibilites here: Marks: Armor Pen will always be my favorite choice because it's just such a good way to get damage done and your passive gives you attack speed so you don't need an extreme amount of attack speed. However, attack speed is always a possibility, it DOES work, but I find that armor pen will work better. Seals: Dodge is my choice because I like to dodge the creeps in the jungle when possible, and it may help you out against carries and such later on. However, armor yellows are also a VERY good choice. I will never say that these will not work, they do work I just find them to fade into the mist late game because your item build revolves around being tanky. Glyphs: Attack Speed is a great way to go because WHILE having armor pen from Marks, and your passive makes you attack even faster. However, Magic Resist glyphs always work for more tankiness if the other team is heavy in mages, however you'll never know which will work better until your in the game or champ select. Quints: HP Quints are the best choice for any tanky character even after the nerf of them because they still give you good early game HP. However, armor pen is also a possiblity, it isn't necessary, but it can work.

[title][img=skills/olaf/p.png] Passive: Berzerker Rage[/title] [number]For each 1% of health missing, Olaf's attack speed is increased by 1%.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] A great passive, with a good amount of lifesteal and the additional lifesteal from Vicious Strikes, you can stay alive for a very long time in team fights even if focused. [title][img=skills/olaf/q.png] Q: Undertow[/title] [number]Olaf throws an axe to a target location, dealing 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 physical damage plus 50% of his attack damage to units it passes through and slowing them by 16 / 22 / 28 / 34 / 40% for 2.5 seconds. If Olaf picks up the axe, the ability's cooldown is reduced by 6 seconds. Cost 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75mana Range 1000[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] A good spell for the slow and it also can be the reason for many early and late game kills while chasing because if you pick up the axe after throwing it, you can basicaly keep the enemy perma-slowed. [title][img=skills/olaf/w.png] W: Vicious Strikes[/title] [number]For 6 seconds, Olaf's attack damage is increased by 7 / 14 / 21 / 28 / 35 base damage plus 1% of his max health. While active, Olaf gains 9 / 12 / 15 / 18 / 21% lifesteal and spell vamp. Cost 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60mana Range 700[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Your bread and butter while jungling, this is the reason why you can jungle crazy fast, and it keeps you alive for a good amount of time. While also giving you good damage. [title][img=skills/olaf/e.png] E: Reckless Swing[/title] [number]Olaf deals 100 / 160 / 220 / 280 / 340 true damage to his target and inflicts 40 / 64 / 88 / 112 / 136 true damage to himself. Cost 50mana Range 325[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is the reason you are the killer of everything. The true damage is just nuts. It rips squishies wide open whole also doing consistent damage to tanks because it ignores their armor and magic resist. However you should not be focusing the tanks obviously. NOTE: The damage to yourself is quite significant when you are low, so only use it when you have enough life to survive. [title][img=skills/olaf/r.png] R: Ragnarok[/title] [number]Active: For 5 / 6.5 / 8 seconds, Olaf is immune to disables and reduces incoming damage by 20 / 30 / 40. Passive: Olaf has 10 / 20 / 30 increased armor penetration. Cost 100 / 75 / 50mana Range 400[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Simply amazing ult, this is the sole reason why you can chase the carry and kill them with minimal problems. They can not CC you in your path towards their carry and he can not survive your damage output. He also can not run away when you have the frozen mallet. A perfect mix.

This skill order is quite obvious, theres no reason to level up your Q because it does low damage and your W, and E are the best abilites you have. By no means is this AD Ezreal's W skill (which is almost nothing to AD Ezreal) because it can give you easy kills. You NEED both your W and E maxed ASAP because they are both such great abilities are imperative to any and all success. Reasons: Your E being true damage not only to your opponents but also to yourself, makes your W necessary to basically live, otherwise you would just be killing yourself in any and all fights. - You wouldn't max your W and leave your E in the dust because your E is just such a high damage dealing skill that can really give you any kill. - You WILL NOT max your Q because its just such a bad idea, not a lot of damage and the slow is not good enough to argue in favor of.

Here is my reasoning for the items I get in any games. CORE -Merc Treads: They are great boots for all tanks, and with your ult you are almost impossible to put under any CC and they will just cry to themselves. -Wriggle's Lantern: A great overall item, it's awesome for junglers because of the passive doing 600 damage to creeps while also helping make you tankier and giving you more damage and lifesteal. -Frozen Mallet: Your best item period, it will make killing the carry that much easier because of the slow, and the damage is pretty good while making the health on the item give you even MORE damage. Luxury can be defined easily and quickly: You are the OFF-TANK DPS. You are NOT the straight tank and you are NOT the carry, it just so happens that the tankier you ARE, the more CARRY LIKE you get. Making him the best possible choice for a high damage off tank, this is the way he should be built. The simple way you strategize is common knowledge. When health can be converted into damage, you get health, GIVING you more damage. This is not rocket science.

With Olaf, it isnt a necessity to start at Blue Buff, but i love to do it because the CDR for your W makes everything so much easier. Here is a quick example of my typical jungle. 1. Blue Buff 2. Lesser Wolves 3. Wraiths 4. Double Golem camp 5. Red Buff When you begin your jungle heres how it should start, -Activate your W for lifesteal and damage. -Use 1 health pot. -Wait until your W is up again and the second it is, use it. -Smite the blue buff immediately for the spell vamp and it will be one hit away from dead. No matter how low you are by the time the red buff comes, if you are doing it right, you will be able to take it. Olaf jungles at a very low amount of health constantly, if there is a counter jungler, (eve, shaco, possibly warwick or yi.) you may want to consider going back to base before red buff, if they wait for you, you will almost certainly die due to your low health. Olaf is unbelievably strong at early levels making him an easier opposing jungle ganker. If you have both buffs and are near full hp, you should, without a doubt, make your way into the other jungle. I have stolen many buffs with my true damage and have also gotten many kills because I stumbled upon a low health jungler trying to finish off a buff. [highlight]JUNGLE ROUTE[/highlight] [imgext=http://i52.tinypic.com/2iqkg9f.png] The numbers obviously represent the places to jungle. The arrows represent your possible ganking routes. [highlight]GANKING WITH OLAF[/highlight] This is a very delicate art. As I have pointed out, you have very minimal amounts of CC making it difficult to gank a carry with ghost and flash. Make a point to tell your team to try their hardest to not push. If their carry is passed the river on your side then no matter what, you should be able to land a gank on them. Here are a few essentials on ganking with Olaf. -Lead with your axe, if you do end up missing it at the very beginning it is not a big deal, because if you pick it up, the cooldown is reduced by 6 second, making it very easy to throw again. -Always TRY to have Red Buff, making it very easy to gank so the opposition is slowed when you attack. -If you have your ultimate up when ganking a carry with a stun or slow, be sure to be ready to use your ultimate ASAP.

Due to request, I have decided to make an in depth team fight section to this guide. Olaf should be played as a sort of anti-carry. His ultimate, lets him walk right through the CC that is placed on him. So he can use his ultimate and simply walk up to the carry and wreck them. -A few things to remember as we enter team fight: 1. Your W and your Wriggle's gives you enough lifesteal to stay alive as your life gets lower. Do not panic. Even if you die, you will have served your purpose if their carry is dead by your hands. 2. It is very important that you do not ult too early. If their carry is a Tristana or a Corki with a built in escape mechanism, then don't ult BEFORE they use their escape skill. Your ult does stay up for a significant amount of time, enough to easily kill the carry, but if you panic and use your ult too soon, then you may not be able to kill the carry, resulting in a failed team fight. 3. You are the OFF TANK. You have NO QUALMS to protect your own carry like the real tank should. Your only form of CC is a minimal slow and the slow from your Frozen Mallet meaning the only way to keep your carry from dying, is to kill the other team, so do it. Some Champions that you should rush after in fights: [imgsmall=champ/anivia.png], amazing burst, easily can kill your carry, take her out of the fight. She can not burst you enough to kill you before you kill her. [imgsmall=champ/caitlyn.png], probably my favorite carry to kill, if they have no flash they are dead, its as simple as that, theyre escape mechanism is not reliable enough to get her out of the fight, and if youre not dumb, then you can avoid traps. [imgsmall=champ/karthus.png], very squishy most of the time, unless he is fed, you can easily withstand his AoE for the amount of time it should take to kill him. [imgsmall=champ/twitch.png], Twitch is so easy to kill, when I see a Twitch on the opposing team, my eyes light up with joy, his only way to get away from you is slowing you and trying to run, therefor, ruin his day and just annihilate him. [imgsmall=champ/ashe.png], A very easy kill, you can walk straight through her ult and destroy her, theres no kiting Olaf. Lastly, Olaf is not invincible, but he is close to it. About as close as any anti carry will get. Use the fact that youre tanky to your advantage and make their team fear not only your damage, but make them not want to focus you too. For, if they focus you then your carry should be doing all the damage to them.

I've played it over probably 700-1,000 times and it very rarely fails or leads to me losing. He is one of the only characters in the game with an easy way to rush towards your carry and also easily take the focus without caring much. Enjoy him, and play well.
