Hi this is XLBiceps and this is my first guide for solomid.net. I've recently reached 2k elo and this website/community is partly why i got there so i figured it was time to give something back. I've decided to make one on vlad because he is a champion I enjoy and have also had a lot of success with. This guide will be for TOP AND MID LANE vlad. While I dont have the same amount of games played as say spamhappy or ego, I do feel I have picked up a good feel for vlad and some tips and tricks on how to play him. So without further ado I present to you my vlad guide :) [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/9pwqp.png] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/R9lf0.png] Pros [.]Strong throught mid and late game [.]Good escape/broken mechanic (trololo pool) [.]Good in Teamfights [.]Crazy sustain with WOTA (Good for double WOTA if your top) [.]Tanky late game [.]Can be played mid or top with ease [.]Legendary skin [.]Not hard to get the hang of(but can be hard to play very well and know when you can dive) [.]No Mana Cons [.]Somewhat weak early depending on the matchup [.]Item reliant for passive [.]Some abilities cost health [.]Easy to get greedy with pool and die for it [.]Long CD Pool [.]No CC(besides slow)

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/FZ0Hw.jpg] Runes are standard for vlad too all going towards his passive benefit. Red- [.]I use magic pen here for more damage/healing and these are pretty much the best in slot. Also mandatory if you are gunna be getting cdr boots. Yellow- [.]I use hp/lvl here again for his passive and because there isnt much else to put here that vlad needs. [.]I dont use the percent hp runes because those dont become better until you get like 4k hp which at that point the amount that your getting over the hp/lvl runes is minimal. [.]Other choices you could use are ap/lvl or armor if your against a heavy ad top lane. Blue- [.]I use ap/lvl here because again, they benfit vlad the most out of all your other choices, not much differential here. Quint- [.]I use flat ap here because i feel the 15 ap is a lot better then the 78 health or the spell vamp. [.]Spell vamp is really only good for the first few levels, but once you get hextech you dont really need it at all. [.]And you will already get health for using ap quints and the health quints will not give you very much ap.

[title] Passive: Crimson Pact[/title] [number]Every 40 points of bonus health gives Vladimir 1 ability power and every 1 point of ability power gives Vladimir 2 bonus health (does not stack with itself).[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title]  Excellent passive that scales incredibly well with items and makes vlad super tanky and a late game powerhouse. [title] Q: Transfusion[/title] [number]Vladimir drains the lifeforce of his target, dealing 90/125/160/195/230 (+60% of ability power) magic damage and healing himself for 15/25/35/45/55 (+100% of ability power) of that amount. Cooldown 12/10/8/6/4 seconds Range 550 [/number] [title]Explanation: [/title] Your main harass ability. You want to max this first as it will give you the most sustain and damage. It does have a pretty high cd at early levels so use it sparingly. [title] W: Sanguine Pool[/title] [number]Vladimir sinks into a pool of blood for 2.5 seconds, becoming untargetable and slowing enemies above him by 40%. Vladmir deals 15% of his bonus Health in magic damage over the duration and heals himself for 12.5% of that amount. Cooldown 22seconds Cost 20percent of health Range 1050[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title]  The reason that people hate you is this ability right here. Trolol pool allows you to dive people escape people while your getting dove and overall make da big playzz. This ability does cost a lot of health so be weary of useing it and it also has a long cd so try not to waste it in lane. DONT USE THIS TO FARM UNLESS THEIR IS NO CHANCE OF YOU GETTING GANKED OR FIGHTING!! Knowing when to use this ability and how to use it will seperate the good from the great vlads. Correct timing of pool is very important as it can be used to dodge karth ult/particle effects from spells/tower shots/etc. [title] E: Tides of Blood[/title] [number]Vladimir unleashes a torrent of blood dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+45% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies. Each cast gives him an Empowered stack (max 4), increasing his healing and regeneration by 8% each. Additionally, his next Tides of Blood deals 25% more damage and costs 50% more Health per stack. Cooldown 8seconds Cost 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70health Range 300[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title]  Another good damage ability usefull for farming. Be weary of the stacks because this ability does consume your health and u dont want to kill your self in lane so try to limit yourself to useing auto attacks and q to last hit, but this is good for clearing wraiths/bigwaves/pushing lanes. Also, before teamfights makes sure that you keep this stacked at 4 stacks to ensure most dmg being delt. Also, the more stacks you have the more healing you get from you abilities. Also, Use this to farm and push lanes fast and easily. Note: You can also use this to check bushes before you enter them, just watch for the particle to enter the bush or not to indicate whether or not someone is in there. [title] R: Hemoplague[/title] [number]Vladimir infects the target area with a virulent plague. Affected enemies take 10 / 14 / 18% increased damage for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, infected enemies take 200 / 300 / 400 (+75% of ability power) magic damage. Cooldown 120seconds Cost 15percent of health Range 700[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title]  Aoe ult land this on the majority of the enemy team and your almost guarenteed to win as it will increase all of your teams dmg dealt. Try to use it at the begining or before someone like annie or galio bust their loads. Enemies will also underestimate this in lane and it can yield easy kills

Basically it goes >>> but there is some variation early on. [.]At level 2 I usually only take w if I am in danger of being ganked or my ally is going to gank for me. [.]Otherwise I will opt to take e for easier last hitting, especially at tower. [.]You max q first always because you need the cdr from it to sustain you in lane, max e second for more farming, pushing, and damage, max w last because it will serve its purpose with one point and maxing the others just have priority as spells and their usefulness.

Start - as there isnt much else to start. You can start cloth 5 if your against a heavy ad, but i dont feel you need that much defense/sustain. Then - and which will be your core item. Next - or Usually if im top ill get cdr boots and if im mid ill get sorc. boots. Cdr boots will give you more healing and damage over time, and sorc. boots will give you more upfront damage. Either If our team needs more damage or for more survivability/utility. or If they have something like fiddle or morg that is shutting you down. I will almost always get Deathcap either first or second followed by Zhonyas and Rylais. Finally if you manage to get there too. I pretty much get those same items every game as its all you'll usually need. However, if you are running heal and never want to die you can try something like or if you want to never die :D

[title]Important Points:[/title] [.]Early game is Vlads weakest part. [.] Last hit with auto attacks as much as possible, but use q if you know you will miss it. [.] Autoattack then q when you go up for harass. [.] Early game try to focus on farming as much as you can. Dont be afraid to use you e to last hit early, just be careful of the stacks and dont spam it if your low. [.] If their jungle is pressureing you a lot go back early to buy an amp. tome, some wards, and hp pots if you need. [.] Once you get hextech and your lane is warded, you can go much more aggressive and unless you died, you will probably start to win your lane.

[title]Important Points[/title] [.]Should probably have will and boots around this time. [.]Once you get will you can freely trade and then heal up any damage that you took. [.]Use Q/E to farm and harass. [.]You Q is on a pretty short cooldown by now so feel free to spam it for harass/sustain. [.]Farming wraiths is fairly quick and easy on vlad, just walk up to the wall and e wait for the blue one to attack you and then q and auto attack it down. If its the enemies just take the blue one, if it is yours make sure you walk all the way around in order to kill them all so that the respawn. [.]You can push lanes fairly quickly with your e, so dont be afraid to push it and then roam to top/bot/wraiths.

[title]Important Points[/title] [.]Vlads Strongest point. [.]Once you have around 5 items and your team is pressuring baron try to keep [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-brilliance.png] if you can. [.]Dont get overconfident with your large health pool, because if you get caught alone against 4 or 5 of them there is a good chance you will die. [.]Keep your [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] stacked at all times, and use it to push up lanes cause you can pretty much one-shot lanes with it.

[title]Important Points[/title] [.]Vlads aoe, strong damage, and tankieness make him a great team fighter. [.]Make sure you land your ult on as many people as you can. [.]Keep your E at full stacks before going into a teamfight. [.]Go for the squishies in the back. Your combo should be R>Q>E>W>Q>E which should be enough to kill any squishy target. [.]Dont forget to zhonyas if your getting focused.

Singed is a relatively easy match up as there is very little he can do to you and you should be able to land a kill or at least deny/force him back to base a few times. Irelia is one champion that I have never done well against as vlad. If she plays agressive against you her combination of her gap closer and true damage attacks will out damage your harass and you wont be able to heal it up early levels. Avoid this match up. Since her nerfs however vlad has a lot easier time standing up to her once he gets hextech, before that dont play too aggressive though she will beat you early and once she gets a few items she will be able to beat you late also. Against shen it would be wiser to just farm as much as you can as he can be hard to kill and can just heal it back up in most cases. Once you get hextech you can be more agressive and poke him down. udyr has very high damage early and can easily deny you, however this will cause him to be very agressive, so ask you jungler for ganks and once you get a kill you can snowball ahead. But just because u get one kill dont play stupidly because he will still be strong and can still kill you. Somewhat of a rare match up but deserves mentioning non the less. He has very strong early game damage so dont underestimate him. Once you farm up your hextech that should be enough to beat him. I find that when he hooks you its best to pool to avoid getting stuck by his AA and his slow afterwards because it will save you some damage. Gangplank is not too hard of a lane match up because you can win trades early with a Q and an aa, just dont let him get into auto attack range or you are in trouble. tryndamere is not as hard of a matchup as you would think, he'll beat you for the first few levels so dont try to take too much of his harass, but that doesnt mean not to dish out your own. Once you get hextech you can heal all of his harass and yours will be too much for him to heal so work on denying him cs. Pantheon is not too hard of a lane because you can win trades with your q, just farm up and push his lane hard so that it is harder for him to ult other lanes. Not a particularly fun lane youll both out heal each other, so just focus on farming as much as you can. can go either way try to out trade her early and get ahead in farm Not too hard of a match up you can heal his damage and out harass him, if he comes at you with a stun you should probably pool away from it as you might be getting ganked. Pretty much a free farm lane, but you should try to push him out of it if possible as you will want him to be as littlely farmed as possible. In my experience against Rumble vlad generally losses. You guys generally have the same start for items and with the same items hell deal more dmg. I would recommend trying to push to his tower when you can with wards because it can be hard for some rumbles to last hit at tower.

Ahri gives most champs a problem, but not vlad. As long as you can dodge her skillshots, you should be able to win the match up and if your getting ganked, just pool to dodge her charm. If you are unable to dodge her skillshots she will most likely win the lane. A lot of people call this a losing match u. It is, but you can beat him early by trading with an aa and a Q, once hes level 2 be weary of his snare + ganks, they can be deadly. Late game however he will be tankier then you and do just as much, if not more damage. After that ryze will dominate you in all trades so try to avoid this matchup. Kassadin gives most champs problems, but you can just trades q's with him and come out ahead, and since hes melee you can add in auto attacks and deny him a lot of cs/xp. Morgana isnt a hard lane, but she can be troublesome at times. Basically harass her early and dodge her binds. Remember to AA then q for more damage. Once she reaches level 5 she will begin to push your lane hard so try to focus on maximizing cs and keeping creeps away from your tower. Twisted fate will basically push you lane really hard, but he cant win trades against you, so youll win in that aspect, just try to clear waves as fast as you can when you see him pushing. Swain isnt too hard of a match up either he shouldnt be too much of a problem for you because of your sustain and your ability to out trade him. He will beat you early so dont try to fight him too much until you get your hextech/wota after that it shouldnt be to hard. Make sure you dont get caught in his snare. Not an incredibly hard match up, just dont let him q you down and punish him for missing them. Pool his ult and focus on farm otherwise. Will pretty much rape you any way you go about it her early damage is too much for you to out trade/heal. Just try to dodge q's and punish her for missing, but be weary of its short cd. Fiddle will pretty much rape you no matter how you go about it. He will win any trades against you with his drain and it wont go away once you pool. Not a fun match up, try to avoid. Not an incredibly hard match up, pool her ult and be weary of the healing reduction on her bouncing blade. he is very strong early so try not to take too much damage and make sure you pool to avoid his stun, but play defensive when its down.
