First off all, Kog'maw is very strong magic damage carry who uses his long range ability to melt enemy champion and picks off squishy champions quickly, but also is he a strong anti-tank. Kog'maw does need his W ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png]) up in team fights to be effective and do the damage that is needed, so I'm going to be focusing on that. *Will be explained better through the guide*. Also English isn't my first language so there might be some mistakes, hope you can live with it.

I'll keep this guide updated to every single patch, so there won't be any problems with outdated items and such. [title]Patch v1.0.0.127[/title] [.]Bio-Arcane Barrage duration reduced to 8 seconds from 10 [number]My thoughts:[/number] Little nerf, it hurts him a bit, but not really a lot. You'll still be really strong. [title]Patch v1.0.0.121[/title] [highlight]Kog'Maw[/highlight] [.]Fixed a bug where Void Ooze was not flagged as an area-of-effect spell [.]Updated Kog'Maw's autoattack frame to be more responsive [.]Updated Bio-Arcane Barrage attack frame to be more responsive [.]Updated Caustic Spittle's attack frame to be more responsive [.]Bio-Arcane Barrage [.]Cooldown increased to 17 from 15 [.]Duration increased to 10 from 6 [.]Living Artillery drop time reduced slightly to increase consistency (Overall slightly faster) [number]My thoughts:[/number] This is helping Kog'maw so much, more uptime on [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png]. Also the drop time on Living Artilley is good for hitting and it feels more easy to land it now.

[imgext=http://i42.tinypic.com/zmmwkm.png] [title]Marks:[/title] Your damage is mostly physica, so armor penetration would be the best choise, it's helping in the early game to get your enemys armor a bit lower or even hit true damage, also late game is it going to be nice. [title]Seals:[/title] Here do I go flat armor as you'll be fighting another AD carry bottom who will be doing physical damage, and also the enemy support is going to do mostly physical damage with his auto attacks so armor is the best stat for early game. [title]Glyphs:[/title] You'll need some mana regen to keep use your abilties, so I take mana regen per level here. [title] Quintessences:[/title] Flat AD as it helps you last hit early game and it also help you do more damage when fighting early and mid game.

[title][img=skills/kogmaw/p.png] Passive: Icathian Surprise[/title] [number]Upon dying, Kog'Maw starts a chain reaction in his body which causes him to move faster and detonate after 4 seconds; dealing 100 + (25 x lvl) true damage to surrounding enemies.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This passive is pretty nice actually, it gives you that extra damage to kill an enemy who's running away with that low health and it's just a bonus that it's TRUE DAMAGE, so it will deal a good amount of damage on tanks too. [title][img=skills/kogmaw/q.png] Q: Caustic Spittle[/title] [number]Passive: Increases attack speed by 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30% Active: Kog'Maw launches a corrosive projectile which deals 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+70% of ability power) magic damage and reduces the target's magic resist and armor by 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 for 4 seconds. Cost 60 mana Range 625 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Kog'maw Q should be used when someone is NEAR you, means when a champion gets to YOU, you should NEVER try to go in range to use this ability on your own. Other than that the passive attack speed is good late game. [title][img=skills/kogmaw/w.png] W: Bio-Arcane Barrage[/title] [number]Kog'Maw's attacks gain 130 / 160 / 190 / 220 / 250 range and deal an additional 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6% (+1% of ability power) of the target's maximum Health as Magic Damage (Max: 100 Damage vs Monsters). Lasts 6 seconds. Cooldown 15 seconds Cost 50 mana Range 530 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is what makes Kog'maw such a strong champion. It adds a buttload of range + 6% magic damage of the targets maximum HP, you want this up as much as possible! Remember to wait and use this on the right time, don't use it right as the fight starts, use it when your going to auto attack. [title][img=skills/kogmaw/e.png] E: Void Ooze[/title] [number]Kog'Maw launches ooze which deals 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+70% of ability power) magic damage to enemies it passes through. Additionally, it leaves a trail which slows enemies by 28 / 36 / 44 / 52 / 60% for 4 seconds. Cost 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 mana Range 10000[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This abiltiy is good for chasing and getting away. I max it last as attack speed from q and more damage from w is better. [title][img=skills/kogmaw/r.png] R: Living Artillery[/title] [number]Kog'Maw fires artillery from a great distance. After a short delay, the artillery falls dealing 80 / 120 / 160 (+50% of ability power +50% of attack damage) magic damage and reveals targets for 4 seconds (deals 150% bonus damage to Champions). Each subsequent Living Artillery in the next 6 seconds costs 40 additional mana (Max 250). Cost 40 mana Range 1200 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is the skill your enemy is going to hate and what gives you a little bit of an extra chance to kill the low health champions. It's a small AOE skill that deals a fair amount of damage with almost no cooldown, but be careful by using it too often after each other, the mana cost stacks up. It also reveals stealth targets, so if you hit a champion like Twitch will he be visible for the whole team for 4 seconds.

[highlight]Caustic Spittle:[/highlight] I max this second because it gives a nice attack speed boost. [highlight]Bio-Arcane Barrage:[/highlight] I max ths skill first because it does a good amount of damage, the reason for maxing is first is because it allow you to cs on long range and also harass your enemy in lane without him being able to shot back at you. [highlight]Void Ooze:[/highlight] I max this last, the only real use for it is to slow, so just get 1 point in it at level 4 and keep it there. [highlight]Living Artillery:[/highlight] I take this every time I can, because it does a lot of damage especially in the early - mid game and also the range incrased a lot every rank.

[title]Start items:[/title] I start with [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png] and [imgsmall=items/health-potion3.png] because it gives mobility to last hit and helps you harass the enemy if he can't move as fast as you. The health pots gives health back. You could also start with [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png], it gives health, a bit of lifesteal and some nice early game damage. I'll get this item if I'm playing with a support who have heal, else I'll go boots. [title]Core build:[/title] [imgsmall=items/berserkers-greaves.png] or [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png](if your facing a team with heavy CC)[imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/phantom-dancer.png] This adds a lot of damage and attack speed to your auto attack and with the big range of W is it going to melt enemies. You want to make sure you get stacks on your bloodthister so you'll be doing more damage and you'll be melting them faster. The Pdancer also gives great move speed so you can always be in range for W. [title]More damage:[/title] [imgsmall=items/madreds-bloodrazor.png] Adds nice addtional attack speed, 4% magic damage on attacks and more attack damage. 3 good stats for Kog'maw. the 4% magic damage from Madreds makes your w do 10%, which is a lot. [imgsmall=items/infinity-edge.png]] 80 increased damage is nice for auto attacks, you'll be doing more damage, but also the increased crit damage makes your crit do a lot of damaged, combnied with Pdancer will you crit most of your auto attacks. [title]Enemy stacking armor:[/title] [imgsmall=items/last-whisper.png] if the enemies are stacking armor is this the item you should get, it gives additional ad and reduces their armor by 40%, the best armor penetration item late game. [title]Defensive item:[/title] You'll most liekly be needing at least 1 defensive item, either as second last slot or last. [imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png] Adds more health so you'll be more tanky, but also some mana so you can use more abilties. The shield is what makes it good, you'll be able to block one nuke. [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] This is what I take 90% of all games, it gives you a free cleanse. If someone is comming at you with a nasty slow (such as nasus slow) can you cleanse of it and if needed even use flash aswell.

[title]Ancient Golem(Blue buff)[/title] [highlight]Blue buff adds:[/highlight] 1.5% mana (or energy) per second and (16 + Level*0.5)% cooldown reduction on their abilities. Ancient Golem is good for Kog'maw because it adds cooldown reduction, besides the nice increase on cooldown reduction does it also give some good mana regen so you'll be able to poke the enemies down with your ultimate to possible half health on all their squishies before the fight even starts. [title]Lizard Elder(Red buff)[/title] [highlight]Red buff adds:[/highlight] slows 5/10/15%(by level 6/11/16) for ranged characters and does 2 ticks with 50 true damage at level 18. Lizard Elder is the most important buff of these two, it gives your the slow on your long range auto attacks so you don't have to building for a slow (example: [imgsmall=items/phage.png]). Also always ask your team if you can get it because it does true damage and with your attack speed it fast adds up to a lot. [title]Elixirs[/title] Elixir are good to use right before your going to fight in team fight, it gives you a little advantage, so remember the elixirs in the late game team fights, but also late mid game you can use them too. [img=items/elixir-of-agility.png] Adds a nice boost to your attack speed, helps you auto attack to kill them faster, the % crit is also nice. [img=items/elixir-of-brilliance.png] This elixir is alright as it gives cooldown reduction, the ability power is not really useful. [img=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png] Gives your some extra health for team fights so you don't die as fast as you've would of, this elixir has saved me some times, you just don't think about. These times where you have 100 health when fight is over and you have the elixir buff on, then that's what saved you. It also give a new increase on damage, so you'll be hitting harder.

Kog'maw is really item depent and requires a solo farm, so you'll most likely middle or duo bot with support. First off, Kog'maw is really not that strong early game so you want to try play defensive till level 6. Sit back in your lane, focus on last hitting so you don't push the lane and make you self a potentional gank. If you really want to harass can you try harass with w on and then auto attack on the enemy. After level 6 are you a bit stroger and can start harass with your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and a couple of auto attacks with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] on. When your core build is complete can you start harass and go more in the 1v1's, but still keep in mind that you are squishy and have the longer range, so why not abuse it.

Wards is the key to win games, using them to stop ganks, the enemy team from doing baron and dragon. This map should show where to place wards on the map, to prevent ganks, enemy team from doing dragon and baron. [number]Note:[/number] Green circles = [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png]. Pink circles = [imgsmall=items/vision-ward.png]. [center][imgext=http://i51.tinypic.com/2d80wv8.png][/center]

Mid game is where Kog'maw starts slighty to shine, your damage is good and you have a good range to hunt them down. Your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] combo does a strong amount of damage to burst the enemies down with. [title]Dragon[/title] Mid game do you want to make sure that there's a ward at dragon (you might be thinking, that's the supporters job and yes it is, but helping isn't bad). So go put a [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png] down there to have vision over it. At mid game do you want to start group up with your jungler to get a gank off in bot, middle or just harass them so they are being low health. The reason to that is because a low health enemy have 2 picks, 1. Give team a free dragon by recalling or 2. Try to fight with low health at dragon. [title]Keep farming[/title] When dragon is down do you want to keep up the farm, Kog'maw just startet shine in the middle game, more farm will get your faster to the point where you really shines. So farm, farm and farm! But be careful where to farm, the enemy team might be trying to do a gank on you, so play safe - At this point of time can you 2 hit minions. [title]Pushing[/title] Another important thing in mid game is to get the towers for the extra 100 gold to each person on your team. You do that by grouping up with your jungler and ganking middle, top or bot and the tower is more or less free to take away. You don't have to kill them in the lane, just show up at bot 4v2 makes it almost impossible to defend the tower for them.

Late game is where Kog'maw really shines a lot and melt faces with his % damage and his potentional burst. In late game are you going to walking with your team almost all the time, to make sure your not getting cut somewhere and end up by giving them a free baron. [title]Position:[/title] This picture shows where to stand and attack with W the enemies. Stand as long as you can away but still be in range of your W, the longer time it takes for them to even get to touch you. [number]Note:[/number] The red circles shows the team fight area and the red lines shows your attacks. [imgext=http://i55.tinypic.com/212d1te.png] [title]Abilities[/title] Champions has their own combo to use in team fights, Kog'maw has his own too. Start by using [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] and auto attack them down, when the Bio is on cooldown (for 1 second) do you spam your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png]. The most important thing is to use your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] EVERY time it's up, if you forget that then you aren't going to do a lot of damage and a possible lose to your team. [title]Baron[/title] Baron is the buff that game changes, it gives a total of: 40 Ability Power 40 Damage 3% of your Max Health in Health Regeneration 1% of your Max Mana in Mana Regeneration Which is nice to have for team fights and really give you that advantage you want to have. Make sure your team always have a ward at baron so you can see if the enemy team is trying to do it or if their around that area. Also if your support doesn't have an oracle, try put a [imgsmall=items/vision-ward.png] down to destroy the enemy teams ward and get the control over it. Kog'maw with madreds takes Baron quick down with a team, so taking it late game shouldn't be too much of a problem. The thing is when to take it: [.]If you've just got one of the enemies killed, they can't 4v5 you at baron. [.]If you see an enemy at blue buff, bot late or far away(If you see on of the enemy team in bot late on minimap, call for a quick baron). [.]If enemy team has no vision over it. [title]Focus[/title] It's important to burst down the damage deals (Their AP and AD carry) really fast because thats where the enemy teams damage comes from, but do NEVER EVER risk your own health to attack them. You better stand back and attack their tank and then get their carry and die instantly. Since Kog'maw has a lot of % damage is he doing a lot of damage to tanks too, so your going to burst them down too quickly. [title]Anti carries[/title] Kog'maw's worst nightmare is a good anti carry such as [imgsmall=champ/akali.png] and [imgsmall=champ/kassadin.png], they can fly all over the team fight and burst you down fast because your squishy and they hurt! So basicly if your playing against an Akali or some sort of anti carry do you want to ask your team to CC them down fast and, if they get near you use you [imgsmall=summoners/flash.png] to get into safety and then burst them down before they gets to you. Here do you also have [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] for slowing enemies trying to chase you and your exhaust to kill them 1v1.

Hope you found my guide useful and feel free to ask me questions down below, I'll be answering them as fast as possible. Other than that go melt some faces out there! ~Chriller.
