So, you are here to learn all about the more uncommon side of Nidalee (atleast nowadays). AP Nidalee. AP nidalee is something that is more rarely played in high elo due to the rising popularity of AD Nidalee. I assure you while both builds are good, AP Nidalee can stand up to its counterpart. If you like throwing sticks with rocks attatched, you have come to the right guide. I might not be able to teach you how to hit skillshots in this guide, but I will be teaching you some tricks. I will go over positioning, item builds, Early to Late game, skill reasoning, Pros and Cons, and more. AP Nidalee's jobs is split pushing, poking, and carrying. Note that Nidalee IS NOT AN EARLY GAME CHAMPION. Nidalee can dominate her lane, but when it comes to dragon fights, a Pantheon is the better Early Game teamfighter. Your job is to split push and poke. If you're Hotshot, maybe even get ganked by 5 people including Sona and live. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/N9GXd.jpg] Now, at first glance, you may think "Man his Nidalee only has a 54% win rate he sucks". Almost all of my losses as Nidalee were as AD, and most all of my wins are as AP. Just think about it. Not to mention I constantly play Nidalee in Normal games as well. About me: I am a 2.1k elo player at the making of this guide. Nidalee was one of the first champions that I bought and have played her ever since. I mostly play AD carry and top when I am able to, and I find myself as a relatively decent player with the potential to be at higher elo. My favorite champions are Nidalee, Akali, and Talon. I actually didn't play ANY ranked in Season One. I really only joined when Orianna came out, a little bit before DreamHack. I was scared to start ranked until I thought I was good enough. In ~ November, I began playing ranked and went up in elo pretty quickly. That's enough about me, now I hope you like my first guide! I worked really hard on this guide for around 3 days straight, so remember to thumbs up and leave a comment! nyanyanyanay
[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/JXqGN.jpg] 9 AD Marks: These give the great laning dominance that Nidalee is infamously known for. The extra harassing power is amazing in lane. Magic pen just makes you a weak laner, which is the opposite of what Nidalee is supposed to be. 9 Armor Seals: Replaceable with mana regeneration if seen necessary. I feel top lane is mostly AD heavy DPS champs, with exceptions such as vlad and occasionally Swain and Chogath. Other than those few, almost every other top is AD oriented. 9 MR Glyphs: These are generally for people with high magic damage like [imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] Vlad or [imgsmall=champ/kennen.png]. They help tremendously against high magic damage matchups and you should always get these against specific champions 3 MS Quints: One of my favorite quints for AP Nidalee top lane. You are nearly impossible to gank at level 6 with these Quints. Kiting is tremendously easier, and they can save your life later on in late-game team fights. Can AD Quints do that? [title]Other runes[/title] Hybrid Pen Marks: I sometimes run these. These are great runes to run and make you hit like a truck in cougar form. A more aggressive 6 oriented rune setup with split pushing involved as well. Great runes AP/Lv Glyphs: I would always opt for these runes if the top lane has minimal magic damage ([imgsmall=champ/garen.png],[imgsmall=champ/leesin.png],[imgsmall=champ/fiora.png]) Always great to have these runes on your side. AD Quints: I would only get these with hybrid penetration marks. The hybrid pen really puts this AD to use, and your cougar starts hitting EVEN HARDER. I would probably get these runes if I need the extra damage to stay ahead ([imgsmall=champ/riven.png]) or can score an easy kill with the huge damage output ([imgsmall=champ/jarvaniv.png]) Frankly, I feel magic pen alone or AP is useless on Nidalee. It takes away from her laning phase too much, and she can easily be denied with AP Quints, and whatnot. The armor is almost necessary to survive top lane, since 90% of all top laners do heavy physical damage. I would only replace the others with very choice different runes.
[title] Passive: Prowl[/title] [number]Moving through brush increases Nidalee's movement speed by 15% for 2 seconds.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Basically, when you walk into a brush, you start running 15% faster. Pretty nice eh? A spell that helps you run away from ganks, or even chase people to Oblivion. This skill will be helping you from early game to late game, no matter what. Whether it be sitting in a bush and harassing like a man, or escaping a 5 man gank, this will always be with you. Make sure to use this early game in lane to your advantage. Camp up in da bushz and do your thang. One of your most useful skills I would say due to the fact that it is always useful, and has saved my life countless times as Nidalee. [title] Q: Javelin Toss / Takedown[/title] [number]Human: Nidalee tosses her javelin, dealing 55 / 95 / 140 / 185 / 230 (+65% of ability power) magic damage on impact (deals up to 250% damage the further away the target is). Cougar: Nidalee's next attack deals additional damage based on how low her opponent's life is. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 50/60/70/80/90 mana Range 1500[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] When you're human, you throw a large javelin in the direction of you mouse cursor. Le spear. Does all of the damagez depending on how far away you are. Late game, you will be hitting squishies for almost 3/4 of their health. This is the thing you poke people in the face with. Not to mention, securing a kill with this is amazingly satisfying in my opinion. I max this second because you have no need to throw spears in lane. It only uses up your mana and lessens your sustainability with your heal. However, this all changes when you get later in the game. Later in the game you want to throw more spears, and try not to use your heal as much. With MPen Boots, Deathcap, voidstaff, and RoA, you will be hitting people so hard, they will have to go back to heal in one shot, if you haven't already killed them. The Cougar side does damage based on health lost, replacing your auto attack with a stronger bite. It DOES reset the auto attack timer. so finishing off people is very satisfying with that too. Generally part of your combo for cougar (WEQ/WQE). You can really put the hurting on people in lane by just Pounce > Takedown. Note: There's a way to do even more damage with your spear! Since it does more damage the further you are away from it WHEN IT IMPACTS, you can throw the spear, quickly go into cougar form, pounce backwards, and you will do more damage. I have killed people just because I have jumped back when I threw a spear, and I have had people get away because I neglected to do this. [title] W: Bushwhack / Pounce[/title] [number]Human: Nidalee lays a trap that deals 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+40% of ability power) damage over 2 seconds, reveals the target, and reduces their armor and magic resistance by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% for 12 seconds. Traps last for 4 minutes. Cougar: Nidalee lunges forward, dealing damage to surrounding enemies. Pounce is not affected by cooldown reduction. Cooldown 18seconds Cost 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120mana Range 900[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] In human form, you place down a trap that reveals all around it when stepped on. It reduces someones armor (crucial) and shows them on the map for 12 seconds. Dat whacker. In Cougar form, you get to pounce (small blink) all over the map. You can even jump over walls if you position correctly. This skill is pretty much you pouncing all over the map and placing traps for junglers to get mad at. Pretty self-explanatory. Traps are almost crucial in your playing as Nidalee. You can trap key points and reveal the other team getting baron, early buffs, and protect you from getting ganked. A well placed trap could be the difference between their mid getting blue buff (and having a huge impact [imgsmall=champ/anivia.png]) or shutting them down and changing the flow of the game. I have killed weak early game junglers just by putting a trap near their red bush, or at wriaths. I have stopped teams from sneaking a Baron just by putting a trap in the Baron Pit. Traps can be a game changer. Never forget about the 40% armor reduction either! This can be a game changer, a decider of winning a fight or not. Early game, if someone walks over a trap and you Auto Attack them, you will hit like a truck due to the amount of armor that has been shredded. Trap placement: [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/Ft22k.jpg] Note: You can pounce over countless walls in the game There are so many walls in the game that you can easily pounce over in order to escape ganks, live through chases, or continue chasing people (cut them off?) Pounce is a spell Nidalee is very infamously known for. It's the reason that she always can get away from ganks, and why she is so hard to kill. Not only does it make her jump forward, but it also does a decent amount of damage. Pounce is a skill that takes much time to master. Some walls are harder to hop over than others, but they can be a a great escape route. [title] E: Primal Surge / Swipe[/title] [number]Human: Nidalee heals an ally champion for 50/85/120/155/190 (+70% of ability power) and grants them a 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60% attack speed for 7 seconds. Cougar: Nidelee claws at enemies in front of her. Cooldown 10 seconds Cost 60/80/100/120/140 mana Range 600[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] A big heal that is your core ability early game in Human form. OH BOY THIS SKILL. They can nerf it, but it's still a heal d00d. Heals you for huge amounts with enough AP. It even gives more attack speed to hit da turrets real hard. This is Nidalee's main bread Butter and Jam skill for splitpushing. Remember your healing priority. You > Tank > AD Carry > Support. Swipe, a straightforward ability. You press E and you get a swipe animation, Nidalee swipes in front of her for AOE magic damage. Pretty good skill in Cougar Form To farm/push well with Nidalee, Auto Attack each caster minion once, and Pounce > Swipe to get all of the casters. The rest you just press all of your buttons at once. REMEMBER: When being chased, you need to know when to heal and when to keep pouncing. It's almost always better to keep pouncing [title] R: Aspect Of The Cougar[/title] [number]Passive: Each additional rank increases the effectiveness of Nidalee's cougar abilities. Nidalee transforms into a vicious cougar, gaining 20 movement speed, 10/20/30 armor and magic resistance and a new set of abilities. Cooldown 4 seconds[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] HOKAY, we got to the cat version of Nidalee. You get to transform back and forth from Human to Cougar every 4 seconds :D.Cougar gives extra armor and magic resistance. WTF? YOU MeAN SHE DOES DAMAGE AND TANKY? Yes that's what I mean. So if you are taking tons of damage from junglers, then you should probably be in cougar 1v1 to be a beast. Only go into Human when 1v1 for the heal/AS buff. You can really surprise people with cougar at level 6, due to the crazy base damages of Cougar's spells.
[title]R > E > Q > W[/title] Completely self explanatory. E Max first For sustain in lane and le split push and E dmg Q Second Me Pokestah and Q dmg W Last Bad spell to max first IMO. I see some people maxing [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png] first on top lane, and to them, I say go die in a hole. JUST KIDDING But seriously. Why would you ever give up the incredible laning dominance that Nidalee has just to poke people before lv 14? You shouldn't be leaving lane often, so maxing [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png] is almost useless. The heal on [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png] is just too good to give up top, not to mention the Attack Speed buff is always great. Sometimes, you just can't survive lanes without maxing heal first ([imgsmall=champ/yorick.png]) If they have a [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] and they plan on invading, always get [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] first. It can save your team from a devastating invade that can change the game. I can't tell you how many times people have walked into my traps. If there is no invade happening, then start trapping up top side so you can be safe from ganks early on.
[title]Core: [/title] Catalyst enables Nidalee to have much better sustain than she usually has. Ever since the heal nerf, Catalyst has been a great item to keep the sustain she once had. (When talon came out ~?) If you use a Health Potion, then you get ~ 22 health every second, maybe more. Your lane dominance skyrockets the second you get catalyst. [item=rod-of-ages] Rod of ages is something catalyst builds into. It gives you health, mana, and AP, making Nidalee tankier and stronger. I feel RoA is necessary as Top lane Nidalee to make up for the potential lack of tankiness that your team has. The health and mana regeneration can even save your life in some situations, so don't underestimate this item. It's best to get it as early as possible. The earlier you get it, the better. [item=rabadons-deathcap] Deathcap is an obvious choice, for the damage. The amount of damage added to spear from deathcap is almost disgusting if gotten early enough. Turns Nidalee into a poking machine. Again, the obvious choice for every AP champion in this game :D [title]Potential Core:[/title] [item=spirit-visage] Spirit visage is always a good buy in my opinion. It makes your heals stronger giving you more ability to sustain against stronger teams. This item has saved my life countless times against more AP heavy teams. This is a very underestimated item on Nidalee and I think people should try it before they toss it away. [item=athenes-unholy-grail] This item is great if your team has another blue-necessity caster. Gives great mana regeneration and AP. I only get this when I am constantly starved of blue and low on mana. Since the recent buff to Athene's, it is probably an item I will think about getting more. The Ability Power that it gives, and the great Unique Passive along with the base Mana Regeneration makes it an amazing item to have. Generally, you would have to replace Rod of Ages with this. having them both at the same time more or less defeats the point. I would get this item over RoA when im up against people like Vlad or Yorick. They do too much magic damage to count. Along with Mercury Treads, their damage will be significantly lowered. [title]Late Game:[/title] Pretty obvious choice, right? More magic penetration more damage! I would get this item as soon as ~2-3 people on their team have over 100 Magic Resist. Sometimes it becomes unbearable when they tank spears :< Lich bane is everything that Nidalee wants and needs. More AP? More movement speed? A bit of MR? WHAT MORE COULD A CAT ASK FOR? The unique passive on Lich Bane makes Nidalee hit like a truck going down a hill once you get enough AP. And please god.. Don't rush this item like some Nidalee's do. It makes me cry (who told them to do that?) A good item to get if you feel you are doing more with you cougar than with spears. Zhonyas is one of those SUPER LATE GAME items that I rarely have to get. The AP and Armor can sometimes save your life, or take someone else's life. The passive is what I mostly get it for. It can dodge Karthus Ultimate, Skillshots, ECA (Arrow [imgsmall=champ/ashe.png]), etc. I sometimes get Guardian Angel or Banshee's instead of this. [title]Other Items:[/title] [item=guinsoos-rageblade] This item had it's days with good ol' Nidalee. Buyable if you're going for a more split-push lane dominance build. Gives AD for cougar Q, AP for cougar E. Puts out a lot of damage, and is often underestimated. [item=mejais-soulstealer] Ok, maybe they are that bad. This gives CDR at 20, and gives more AP than your math teacher can count. A very unreliable item that I would never recommend, but if you feel that you can stomp the opposition that badly, then be my guest. [item=rylais-crystal-scepter] Well, your spears do all of the damages that are nescessary, why not give it a slow? This is an item that I don't personally get, but the slow is always nice on her spear. It gives slow for her Cougar E as well, so it's not that bad, but not that good. Not my style, but if you really need the CC for you team, then it's a good buy. [item=will-of-the-ancients] Ok, you already heal, but this helps if you have another mage. Going double WoTA is always fun and helpful for the team. The heal on your Q damage will be very high, but then again, you shouldn't be that low. An item that I see occasionally used, another that I don't recommend. But seriously, only get this item when you NEED double WoTA, or else it's holding you back [item=moonflair-spellblade] HELL YEAH YOU CAN GET THIS ITEM. Gives CC reduc which is nice and Ap. If they have that much CC, then yes this is a good buy. Sometimes they just have THAT much CC, but usually Mercury Treads are better to get. [item=trinity-force] TONS OF DAMAGE? WHY NOT! START JUNGLING WHILE YOU'RE AT IT AND YOU WILL TURN REAL PHREAKY [item=deathfire-grasp] EhhhhhhhhhhNo. I usually only get this if they have two AP's, and they have to be quite fed too. A good item against people like Karthus and Vladimir and Gragas. I'm starting to build this item more. It's use is phenomenal later on in the game, when dying means losing the game. If you're getting really far ahead earlier on, and you seem to be getting focused a lot, then this is still a great item to buy ~ mid game. It's a great buy In my Opinion. I've seen countless Nidalee's buy this item, and I really wonder why. Unless you're stacking these, which I still wouldn't do, it's not the best item for Nidalee. Yes, it gives mana Regeneration, but I find [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] a much more useful item for Nidalee. Not nearly as good as it used to be. I wouldn't buy this item unless you're against an AD Sion. A decent item to get you tanky fast, but you already have RoA, which gives you enough health. I wouldn't recommend getting this item. Probably one of the most important items in this guide. Yes, wards. I know what you're thinking. OMG I HAVE TRAPS WHY GET WARDS WHEN JUNGLE RUN OVER TRAP. Simple answer: Junglers don't always run over traps. Traps are good for early game, but wards are essential for Nidalee top. Chances are, you will be pushed far up for much of the game, so wards are absolutely essential.
I will mostly be discussing the lanes that AP Nidalee has trouble with. Generally easy before 6. Pokepokepkoepokepokeokepejopijeapfoijaeopi. Just don't let her hit early Q's on you, and be wary when she goes into her shroud. It can be deadly. When she hits 6, best be careful because she beats you in trades more than half the time. She has the potential to kill you at ~ level 7/9 so you really need to be careful. She can out-chase you so be ready when you overextend to tower. lol I never see Cho anymore. He is one of your easiest matchups. Just auto attack him down and you can kill him at 6. It's going to get tougher when he gets his items, but delay that as much as possible. I honestly hate this guy. I really do. His Q hits like a truck and his Ultimate is retarded. Early game, you just need to try to poke him down. NEVER EVER get in range of his pullback, or else they can gank you and kill you if the jungler is near. If he isn't near, then he will do so much damage it's not even funny. Be ready for a tough lane at 6, because he can kill you at this point. It's nearly impossible to cougar onto him without dying, so just kite him as much as possible. I recommend going a tankier build against this guy :< Surprisingly high damage early on, but easy to beat later. To win against Gangplank, just push on him early and harass him down at tower. He is one of your easiest matchups, next to Cho'Gath, and you should take advantage of that. Just be wary of any potential jungler ganks, because that can sometimes ruin your day against this guy. Eh. Quite hard believe it or not. Never let him regen too much from his passive, because you need to keep him low. Always be trapping against this guy, because he has insane damage to set up ganks. When you hit 6, always be wary when jumping at him with cougar, because he can do more damage than you. It's safest to just auto attack him down if you can, and rush Tabi against this one. This matchup depends completely on what the Jarvan's skill is like, and what he builds. Other than that, don't walk into his E>Q combo, and you should win the matchup easily if you harass him down. Also, remember you can jump out of his Ultimate with your cougar. Try not to waste flash on it. At level 6, if you dodged all of his Combo's, you can probably put a huge hurting on him. Get [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png]ignite and you will be able to kill him easily Annoying lane, his Healing debuff is a FEMALE DOG IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT. Don't heal when it's on you and dodge his SHAAAAAAAAAAAARK, which shouldn't be too hard due to Cougar > Pounce > Flash. This can go one of two ways. She is completely retarded and builds 2 GP5's (Heart of Gold, Philosopher's Stone) Or she builds smart. (Tabi, Phage). It completely depends on the skill level of the Irelia for this matchup. Generally, you shouldn't overextend into her E. If she gets you when you're at a slightly higher health, she will pretty much mess your world up. If the Irelia is good, then standing next to low ranged creeps is never advised. She can just Q>E you if you are at ~ the same health or higher. Once she gets back and gets her Tabi/Phage, you will have a tough time. Auto attacking will become near useless, and your cougar will do significantly less damage. You need to harass her down since they finally nerfed her W heal. And never underestimate the amount she can heal with her Ultimate. Don't underestimate Irelia, or she will phuk u up. THIS GUY. He's real annoying. A good Jax can actually kick your ass to next Tuesday. always take control of the bush. ALWAYS . He can't jump on what he can't see, right? You can harass him down before he hits 6, but when he does, he can out-trade you every time if you don't kite him with cougar. The second he pops his Dodge, then you pounce away. Make sure this doesn't hit you, because that guarantees he hits 2 more auto attacks on you. Eventually, he will beat you at ~ lv 9 so make use of the time you have. WTF I HATE LANING AGAINST THIS GUY. He wins almost all of the time, regardless of AD or AP. Just farm and hope for the best. When he roams, try to take his tower. If the Kennen is bad, then you CAN beat him, but it is still hard. Take control of the bush and kite him as much as possible. Make sure he never hits his lighting shuriken auto attack on you, because that means only one more mark for a stun. At level 6, he can without a doubt kill you 100-0 if he hits all of his skills. Try to out-farm him and you can poke him down later Solo Q Lee Sin is scary top. Bush control. I can't say this enough. Try to poke him down before he gets a few levels in his shield. Being in the bush gives you the movement speed to dodge his Q's, so make sure you don't lose control of it. You should be able to beat him, but do NOT underestimate his burst from Q > R > Q. If you are at ~ 3/4 health at level 6, he can probably kill you. It hurts. Make sure you don't get too cocky against him, because he will punish you. A good Lee Sin can beat almost every Nidalee Annoying. That's it. Watch out for early ganks though, if this guy gets a ahead there's no stopping him Welp. You've been counter picked. Especially if you're going AP. You need to get bush control on this guy at lv 1, no complaints. At lv 2/3 he can do half of your health in 2 spells. Whenever he has rage, be extremely wary of his combo, because it hurts a lot , even with armor runes. Try to harass him down before he can do much to you, but at lv 6 don't get baited by his ult. This is another harder matchup for AP Nidalee Tough as AP. Probably going to lose lane. His shield makes it hard to harass and Q hits like nobody's business. He is one of the few counters to Nidalee. Don't feed him. Please God don't feed him Riven is an interesting matchup for almost every top lane nowadays. Harass her as much as you can before she hits lv 3/4, then she can start putting in the hurt. Bush control is absolute key for facing Riven. You need to kite her around, and especially at 6. Her damage potential is much greater at 6, but if you can kite her with cougar correctly, you should be able to win. They key with this one is not to underestimate her damage potential, or you WILL die. Also, take ignite. You may need it ^.^ More or less a pain in the ass before you get level 6. Try not to trade too much until you get level 4, and your heal has some significance. At level 6, you start to dominate him. Cougar is just too much for this little guy, if you play it right. His attack range is so low that you can act like hes overpowering you when hes harrassing you, then do a quick turn with cougar. Around 1/3 of his health should be gone, and he probably shit his pants. Good work! Just try not to let him get too many of your towers. He will probably split push a lot, so tell your team to gank him early so he doesn't get too far ahead. Not nearly as bad as he used to be. Udyr is pretty easy to harass down before he gets his Wriggles, or Doran's Blades. Never EVER get close enough for him to Tiger Stance you. That hurts like a bitch early on. You will almost without a doubt be pushed to the tower against Udyr, so trap up for ganks. If he gets armor on you, there's not much you can do. Once you hit 6, you can chunk him pretty hard, but once he gets his armor it's going to be much harder to deal with him. Don't feed this one either. This guy is pretty hard on Nidalee after he gets levels. After his newly received buff, he does SO much damage to Nidalee. Against Xin you need to be able to constantly kite him before gets level 3. Take immediate bush control. To win this matchup, you have to play your best. At level 4, you can take a gamble. When he jumps on you, run to the bush and place a trap in front of you. 90% of the time they will follow and run into it. This is your time to strike! His armor is reduced so much, that you can surprise him with a heal and turn on him. Your attack speed will be too much for him, and he should be quite low at this point. Be careful, sometimes they can overpower you and kill you. Don't underestimate him! You should just try not to die against this guy, try to farm as much as possible. ALWAYS be wary of his jump range HOOOOOOOLLLYYYYYY SHIT. I hate this guy. I really do. Almost impossible to beat due to his heal, once he gets his armor you can only farm. Good luck with this guy. =/ I don't exactly see him top lane, but for those rare situations, here we go. As always, since he is melee, poke him down early. He only gets sustain from his ultimate, so make use of the short time you have. He will most likely be maxing his Cleaver first, so don't walk into those. They can be the difference between winning or losing the lane. You need to zone him as much as possible before he hits 6, or else he will get tanky and you can't do much about it. If you do see this guy top, get [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] Interestingly enough, you beat him. So long as you don't get close to his melee form after ~ level 7. You need to take bush control and just poke him down. He has no form of sustain and is really bad early on. He needs levels in his spells before he does much damage. His auto attack in ranged form is really weak, and so are his resistances. After level 6, you should start being more wary. His knockback does PERCENTAGE DAMAGE, equal to 1/5 of your health at level 5. You want to stay away from him as soon as he changes forms, but if he does hop on you, don't be afraid to do a quick E>Q and pounce away. Try to shut him down early with jungler ganks. ? Never ever faced him top. Pretty easy lane, just don't get hit by his Dredge Line, or you will be in a world of hurt. Brush control is completely crucial against this guy. You can't let him see you for him to hit his Q. If you can harass him down early, he will melt later. At level 6 you should be careful of jungler ganks, because Nautilus is an easy lane to gank for due to the amount of CC that he has. Just don't get chunked early by his shield damage and you should do fine. A matchup I actually haven't seen in a while. If he's smart, he will max his Q first. If he does, run like hell when he hits you with it. It does a lot of damage, and is not worth kiting while you're slowed. A tough matchup due to the fact that he can reveal you in brush with his Axe. He will most likely rush armor on you as soon as he can, so auto attacking will be useful for very little time. Try to push on him early and punish him at his tower. Pretty easy if you're not laning against Zekent. Push on him hard early. It will exhaust her mana and health, and you can constantly get free auto attacks on her at his tower. As long as she doesn't pin you against a wall, you can set her far behind early. Don't be afraid of her early on, because she doesn't get much damage until sheen or later. Pretty simple. Due to the recent over-buff, one of your hardest matchups. The overhaul on his Q is ridiculous, and you can hardly get near him due to the fact he can slow you so easily. You need to play passively throughout the whole matchup until they fix this SoB. At level 6, you need to be extremely wary of his insane burst with his Danger Zone. Stack MR and hope for the best. I would even suggest getting an Abyssal after Rod of Ages. GET TELEPORT GET TELEPORT GET TELEPORT. Sorry just saying that ahead of time. Shen isn't too hard to beat so long as you push early and, again, punish him at his tower. If you can get him low enough so that his Q doesn't heal him for enough, then you're doing it right. At level 6, you can really crush him with your cougar. Your 1v1 capabilities are far greater than his until he gets his items. The only problem is Shen Ultimate. Stand United is really frustrating to deal with at times, so that's why you GET TELEPORT. With teleport, you are able to make it a 5v5 or 3v3 instead of 2v3 or 4v5. It's a gamechanger, far more than Ignite up top. A relatively easy matchup, if you're not up against Inverted Composer. :<. Again, push on him early and punish him at his tower. Works against every melee with bad gap closers. You need to really force him out and delay his catalyst as much as possible. The further on this matchup goes, the more you start to lose, so delay that as much as possible. Deny him as much as you can early on so that you stay ahead for (hopefully) the rest of the game. ? Never faced top. Again Almost impossible to deal with. His snare and DoTs are too much to handle for Nidalee. All you can do is farm and hope he roams so you can get some towers. At 6, when you get strong, he gets stronger. All you can do is harass him VERY early on. Get in the bush level 1. A more skill matchup if you're facing a good Vladimir. You need to harass him down early before his Q starts doing damage and healing for more. You can zone him at ~ level 4 if you play correctly. Remember to trap the bushes so you completely zone every part of top lane from him. Try to restrain pushing on him as much as possible. At level 6, don't be afraid of him, because you can do a vast amount more burst damage to him in short skirmishes. Bushes are your friend in this matchup. Try to get merc treads. I would even suggest getting a chalice, because the MR and mana regeneration help zone him *that* much more. Auto attack him out. Really easy matchup until he starts getting items. Basically, see singed. Same mechanics except Warwick has better gank potential. Depends on how skillful the wukong is. If he can correctly use his clone then this could get hard. You want to harass Wukong down before he gets around level 4, because that's when he starts to out damage you. If he successfully jumps on you, does his full burst and extra auto attacks, then clones out, he is completely untouched, and you are at significantly less health. You need to try and let him push to your tower. There you can farm until 6, and then you can do something against him. When you're pushed at your tower, he can't do anything to you! At 6, when you get cougar, try not to use your Q on his clone. It decreases you damage out put significantly. Champions Nidalee can have potential trouble with:
Here is where you inner-douche shines. Immediately take control of the bushes. Make sure you are in them almost 24/7. This way it makes harassing very difficult for opponents. You get a movement speed buff, which gives you the ability to harass without them being able to react in time. Since most of your opponents will be melee, don't be afraid to Auto Attack them as much as possible, unless you know you lose in a trade. Try to do this from levels 1-4 the most. Some champions get stronger after level 6, so be wary of that. ([imgsmall=champ/jax.png]) By auto attack, I mean constantly come in and out of the bush. If you just attack them in the bush, they will always have vision of you. If you come out of the bush, auto attack, then go back in, you will have enough speed to get back into the bush without any retaliation, and they still can't see you! Never forget to trap up for junglers as well. Early laning phase: [.]Always get bush control. [.]Harass opponent down (unless you lose in trades [imgsmall=champ/pantheon.png]) [.]Go in and out of bush to attack, not just stand there. [.]Make sure retaliation is near impossible for your opponent [.]Always trap up Make sure to always place traps in key points junglers go through. This allows you to prevent ganks early if they foolishly run into your traps. Usually, you can tell when a jungler is going to gank you, so be careful, because your traps don't always hit. Traps can also be used to control both of the top two brushes. If you opponent is trying to pressure you out of the bush, then place a trap down at the ends of the bushes, and when they enter, they can't duel you without losing. The attack speed buff on Nidalee, combined with the armor shred and damage from the trap, means that you will almost always win the duel. Note: This hits more than one enemy. Can be used to push lane if casters/melee creeps are lined up correctly. Once you get your Cougar, get ready to (probably) kick ass. At 6, chances are this is your time to be aggressive. The tough part about Nidalee begins here. You need to know when you can outrade your opponent, and how you can do it as successfully as possible. A very common way of kiting people like this is, when they're killing a creep, pouncing on them E>Q and then walk away. No need to auto attack. A chunk of their health should be gone and you should be unharmed. Easy huh? There are more complicated ways of kiting people around as well. If you get close enough to them in a 1 on 1 fight, you can E>Q then pounce AWAY from your opponent. This assures that their counterattack will be much more difficult to pull off, unless you are someone like [imgsmall=champ/rumble.png], in which all of your skills are slightly ranged. Now that you have your cougar, you should probably be able to push very easily. Traps should be set up so that their jungler has no chance of ganking you. At level 6, you are able to take out the ranged creeps by auto attacking each one once, then Pounce > Swipe them. It's a pretty handy trick. Cougar means you can efficiently push without dying, because, with Cougar, you become one of the hardest champions in the game to gank . Generally, just farmfarmfarm and push top when your lane is roaming, unless you want to follow them around if they are that threatening. Only follow if you have cougar. Make sure you have [imgsmall=summoners/teleport.png] up for Dragon fights and use it wisely. Early on, you can use [imgsmall=summoners/teleport.png] for recovering from early ganks (damn junglers trying to thwart our plans) ALWAYS TAKE BUSH CONTROL ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS
You should probably have at least [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] and one of your boots, if not [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png]. I usually finish my RoA at around 13-15 minutes, depending on how much farm and kills I have. Depending on you matchup, the enemy turret should be somewhat damaged, and you should have put a number on your lane opponent early game (unless its [imgsmall=champ/pantheon.png]). You should probably have wards set up to protect you in lane. If you already have taken their tower, be ready to take their blue as soon as it spawns (Usually ~ 12-13 mintues if their jungler started blue). 90% of the time, you will be there before their jungler. With your new item, you should be ready to start taking towers. Keep pushing! By now, both teams should be thinking about pushing objectives such as dragon, or contesting blue buff. Tell your team to always have a ward on them in case of a fight so that you can teleport to help (If you have teleport). Don't completely abandon your lane quite yet. Nidalee should still be split pushing at this phase in the game. Sometimes, you need to know when you will be useful in a Dragon fight, and when you should take the 2nd tower. Sometimes, you just can't win dragon fights because of the other team's early game presence. If the opposite team as very little CC, then you should be able to bite one of their heads off relatively easily. Nidalee does wonders against teams that can't lock her down because she can just hop around uncontested of any retaliation, assuming you are playing Nidalee right :3. Just keep farming for you higher value items([imgsmall=items/rabadons-deathcap.png]) and push onward! Always ward so that you know when a gank is coming, and which way you can go without being cornered. Mid Game Laning: [.]Keep pushing, goal is second tower [.]Contest their blue buff, preferably just take it. [.]Fight for dragon with [imgsmall=summoners/teleport.png] (if the enemy isn't winning drastically) [.]Ward to stop potential ganks. [.]NyanNyanNyanNyan
Here's where you become THE SHIT. Nothing can stop you if you are an experience Nidalee player at this point. You spears should be hitting for 1000+ damage, even on tanks. At this point your team should be grouped mid and you should be, alone, making good work of them. Remember that split pushing doesn't go away, even in late game. If you see an opportunity to split push, take it! If your team, nor the other team is doing anything. You should be pushing a lane hard. Just remember, don't die or you could possible lose the game because of it. As Froggen once said, The key to winning is not dying. You should have ~ 5-6 items now depending on how well you did Early-Mid game. When the other team is grouping, however, you should choose to stick with your team this time. It's late game, and this is when Nidalee is the Beast of the wild. Basically, with the power that you have, you can probably poke them out by yourself, if you're fast enough and smart enough to get away. Also, never forget about traps! Instead of traps just revealing, they do ~300-500 damage. That's probably 1/3 of their AD carry / AP Carry's health (if they built squishy)
In team fights, 9/10 times you should be in the back throwing spears. Nidalee is relatively hard to do a full team fight with, due to the fact she has no CC or great all-in potential, because she dies relatively quickly. Always know the limits of the enemy's range so that you don't get caught surprised by, say, the end of an [imgsmall=champ/amumu.png] ultimate. That's pretty much the worst thing that can happen. If you are far ahead, once you get locked down in CC, they will start to focus you. In late game team fights, you should be hitting each target for 1000+ damage, so if your team wants to fight tell them to wait until later (around later mid game, early late game (~30+ minutes)). Nidalee may not help early in the game, but she does wonders for her team later on. There are some situations in which you get your RoA very early and you roam for dragon, or you get a small fight going on top lane. In this case, Cougar is the better way to fight. The Armor and M/R helps tremendously when you go into Cougar form, not to mention the amount of HP you get from RoA. You hit significantly harder earlier on with your cougar, because no one has built any M/R or Armor yet (probably), so make use of it. Generally, you can do what AD Nidalee does if the enemy team is far enough behind. Dive the AD carry like there' no tomorrow. He can't do much, and if he becomes too much trouble, you can just back off and heal. And always remember, in a team fight, heal priority: 1. You 2. Tank 3. AD Carry 4. AP 5. Support But remember, if heal means saving someone, SAVE THEM. Everyone is crucial in a team fight. The longer everyone lives, the better. And remember, when you throw spears, try to aim for the squishy targets at all costs.
Well guys, this is my input on AP Nidalee. I hope you guys liked it! This is my knowledge from 1 year of playing Nidalee. Hope you guys can be successful with Nidalee as well! Feel free to leave comments, and please, give me a Like on my guide. I worked pretty hard on this one ;o Shitty quality video, I know. Sorry about that, rendered wrong.
