Vayne has always been one of the strongest ranged AD carries in the game. Her Q + R give her insane base damage and positioning and it's almost impossible to 1v1 a Vayne as another AD carry due to her Q + R utility and her true damage W. [title]Pros[/title] [.]High Mobility [.]Great at chasing [.]Has TRUE damage, therefore always has very high damage [.]Can 1v1 any other Ranged AD with ease [.]Synergizes well with attack speed, allows for cheaper itemization [title]Cons[/title] [.]Tumble can put you out of position if used incorrectly [.]Very squishy, prone to heavy CC/focus [.]Attack range is not very long in lane, prone to being pushed out by champs like Cait/Kog DISCLAIMER: This guide is for duo-laning bottom with a support.

[imgext=] Explanation: [.]Marks - I prefer flat AD to ArPen because you will have 6 + 10% ArP with the new masteries. The bonus AD helps you with last hitting, harassing, and laning in general. If you absolutely need Armor Pen, buy a last whisper. [.]Seals - Flat Armor is the best option. These help you win trades in lane. [.]Glyphs - Again, best option. The bonus MR helps against your main counter - Tristana. Other than that, it mitigates small harass damage from supports, and helps scale your durability into late game when you stack it on a defensive item, like Banshee's Veil. [.]Quints - Same explanation as Marks.

[imgext=] This is pretty self explanatory, 21/9/0 gives Vayne the most damage and the most durability in lane. I prefer 9 in defense to utility for the bonus armor and HP in lane. NOTE: If you take exhaust, take the appropriate mastery in the offensive tree.

[title][img=skills/vayne/p.png] Passive: Night Hunter[/title] [number]Vayne ruthlessly hunts evil-doers. She gains 40 Movement Speed when moving toward nearby enemy champions.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Not one of the best passives in the game, but certainly not a bad one. This passive allows Vayne to chase enemies to Mexico. I find this skill very useful for hunting slow champs like Kog'Maw early on. Overall, this passive is only really useful when you're winning. [title][img=skills/vayne/q.png] Q: Tumble[/title] [number]Vayne tumbles a short distance and her next basic attack within 6 seconds deals bonus physical damage. The bonus is equal to 40/45/50/55/60% of her total Attack Damage. Cooldown 6/5/4/3/2 seconds Cost 40 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This skill is incredibly fun to use. Use it to dodge skill shots all day, every day. Use it to chase down runners. Use it to harass like a boss in lane. Use it to juke through bushes. Due to its utility, I max it second for the lower CD. [title][img=skills/vayne/w.png] W: Silver Bolts[/title] [number]Vayne tips her bolts with a rare metal, toxic to evil things. The third consecutive attack or ability against the same target deals an additional 20/30/40/50/60 plus 4/5/6/7/8% of the target's maximum Health as true damage. (Max: 200 damage vs. Monsters)[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Vayne's bread and butter. This gives her insane damage throughout the entire game because of its percentage scaling. This is the entire reason why we build AS on Vayne. True damage is too strong to ignore and impossible to counter. Max first. [title][img=skills/vayne/e.png] E: Condemn[/title] [number]Vayne fires a huge bolt, dealing 45/80/115/150/185 (+50% of attack damage) physical damage and knocking her target back. If they collide with terrain they take 60/100/140/180/220 (+50% of attack damage) additional physical damage and will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Cooldown 20/18/16/14/12 seconds Cost 90 mana Range 450[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is a very useful ability, and can be maxed second for burst. However, I like taking a point in this at level 1 for level 1 fights and leashing for my jungler (on purple side). The stun component makes warding in bushes at bottom lane very strong. You can land surprise kills on the enemy support with this ability, cancel channeling abilities, knock back opponents for quick escapes, etc. Max this last. [title][img=skills/vayne/r.png] R: Final Hour[/title] [number]For 8/10/12 seconds Vayne gains 25/40/55 Bonus Attack Damage, Tumbling grants Vayne stealth for 1.5 seconds, and the bonus Movement Speed from Night Hunter is tripled. Cooldown 70 seconds Cost 80 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This ability makes Vayne very difficult to pin down. Using invis into a flash is very strong for escaping ganks or failed team fights. Turn this on when you expect to kill anyone, since it has a very low CD.

I like to take a point in [img=skills/vayne/e.png] to start because the early stun or knockback is very strong. Most opponents will expect you to have Tumble at level 1, so you may be able to take some enemies by surprise for the first blood. Overall, it's a great ability to have for the situational stun. I max [img=skills/vayne/w.png] first every game. The %HP true damage is way too strong to not max asap. Your third auto-attack will be devastating for every opponent you face. Silver bolts allows you to combo your harass by auto-attacking into [img=skills/vayne/q.png] and [img=skills/vayne/e.png], giving you 3 hits for silver bolts while pushing your enemy away to avoid retaliation. However, this combo consumes quite a bit of your mana, so use wisely. ALTERNATIVE SKILL BUILDS: If you are laning with a support such as Taric or Alistar, it may be in your best interest to place extra points into [img=skills/vayne/e.png] for the extra burst. For example, I may end up with level 3 Condemn and level 3 Silver bolts, taking Condemn at levels 1, 3, and 5. This gives me great early game burst that I can combo with a stun for easy kills, while also giving me the nice %hp burst of silver bolts for mid-game. This way I don't need to sacrifice my laning or my mid-game.

Vayne synergizes extremely well with attack speed and attack damage, so we build her to take advantage of this. Black Cleaver grants her both of these stats while partially mitigating any armor the other team might be building, rush this. Core Items: [item=berserkers-greaves][item=the-bloodthirster][item=phantom-dancer] Starting Items: In duo lane bottom with a heal - [item=dorans-blade] Solo lane or duo lane without a heal - [item=boots-of-speed][item=health-potion3] Defensive Items: [item=banshees-veil][item=quicksilver-sash][item=guardian-angel] [.]Get QSS if the enemy team has a lot of hard stuns/blinds/silences/suppresses. [.]Get BV if the enemy team has a few single target stuns, such as Sion or Taric. End-Game Damage Items: [item=phantom-dancer][item=infinity-edge][item=last-whisper] Against Casters/Magic DPS/Burst Champions (2 or more): [item=wits-end]: This item lets you 1v1 champions like Kog'Maw and Malzahar, and helps you against assassins like Akali. Against Jax/Teemo: [img=items/sword-of-the-divine.png] Against Heavy Tank/Armor Stacking team: [item=last-whisper][item=madreds-bloodrazor] Early Game: On your first trip back to base get the starting item above that you did not start with, start building [item=wriggles-lantern] if you're having a hard time sustaining in your lane or if you are consistently losing trades, if you're doing well or breaking even in lane, grab an extra doran's blade with some potions and wards and start saving for your B.F. Sword Mid Game: If you built a Wriggle's, rush [item=the-black-cleaver]. This is the most cost effective damage item for Vayne if you already have a lifesteal item that isn't Bloodthirster. If you took double Doran's Blades, save up for and build [img=items/the-bloodthirster.png]. This will give you awesome sustain and is the best pure AD item in the game, assuming you don't die too much. No matter which path you took, build [item=zeal] into [item=phantom-dancer] next. NOTE: if you are laning with Nunu, hold onto the zeal and build your defensive item or your next damage item. Toward the end of mid game, work on either a [item=quicksilver-sash] or a [item=banshees-veil]. End Game: Sell your [item=dorans-blade] for one of these: 2nd[item=phantom-dancer][item=infinity-edge][item=last-whisper][item=guardian-angel]. If the game drags on long enough, consider selling Wriggle's for Bloodthirster.

Your early game should consist of you farming your ass off in lane, while trading harass with the enemy ranged AD. Make sure to call out MIAs, as well as watching for ganks from river or through bushes. Make sure to help your jungler with fast dragons once you have your [img=items/wriggles-lantern.png]. Benchmarks: 60 CS by 8 minutes 100 CS by 12-14 minutes 150-200 CS by 20 minutes [title]Miniguide: Laning with a support[/title] [img=champ/alistar.png] - You can play aggressively. A headbutt into a wall followed by [img=skills/vayne/e.png] and knockup is OP. Start with [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Be careful against [img=champ/soraka.png][img=champ/janna.png] [img=champ/blitzcrank.png] - Wait for blitz pulls into the bushes, combo with [img=skills/vayne/e.png]/knock-up for kills. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful against [img=champ/soraka.png][img=champ/janna.png][img=champ/alistar.png] [img=champ/janna.png] - Cannot play as aggressively as you would with Alistar. Sit back and farm while Janna protects you for days. Janna's shield provides a pretty nice window for harass. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful against [img=champ/alistar.png][img=champ/nunu.png][img=champ/taric.png] [img=champ/karma.png] - Karma has a heal, but it has a pretty long cooldown with mantra charges. Her shield is very strong though, as with all heals, start [img=items/dorans-blade.png]. Careful against [img=champ/alistar.png][img=champ/nunu.png][img=champ/taric.png] [img=champ/leona.png] - Leona is a very fun lane partner. Her CC and gap closer combined with her passive give you insane burst in lane. However, she has no heal, so be careful that you don't get jumped on. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful against [img=champ/soraka.png][img=champ/alistar.png] [img=champ/lux.png] - Lux is actually a pretty decent lane partner. Her snare sets up for your [img=skills/vayne/e.png] very nicely, and her abilities give your lane tons of burst. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful against [img=champ/alistar.png][img=champ/nunu.png][img=champ/taric.png][img=champ/soraka.png] [img=champ/maokai.png] - Not as common, but still a good partner to have. He disrupts the bush control of the enemy duo, and his snare/slow combo sets you up for massive damage. However, he cannot sustain you, and isn't strong in protecting from ganks. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful against [img=champ/alistar.png][img=champ/nunu.png][img=champ/taric.png][img=champ/soraka.png] [img=champ/nunu.png] - Ahhhh, Nunu. I'm going to go ahead and say that Nunu is the best up and coming support, and the best support to lane with Vayne. His Blood Boil makes you 10x more powerful, and his slow helps you chase/protects you from ganks. Late game, his ulti protects you from quick tanky DPS champions, giving you a slow field over which to wreck the enemy team. Nunu lets you prioritize defense and damage items over AS with the massive AS/MS steroid he gives you. Oh and did I mention he's pretty hard to push out of bush /lane? Nunu support is awesome. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful for [img=champ/soraka.png][img=champ/sona.png][img=champ/taric.png][img=champ/alistar.png] [img=champ/sona.png] - Sona is an awesome all around support. She's interesting because you can be aggressive but you can also be passive if you need to, because she does an excellent job protecting you. My favorite support to lane with. Start [img=items/dorans-blade.png]. Careful for [img=champ/taric.png][img=champ/alistar.png] [img=champ/soraka.png] - Soraka will keep you in lane forever. Don't be afraid to harass your opponents, because chances are Soraka can keep you alive longer than their support can. Start [img=items/dorans-blade.png]. Careful for NOBODY, Soraka will save your ass every time. [img=champ/taric.png] - Taric/Vayne might be one of the strongest lane combos currently. Stun sets up for [img=skills/vayne/e.png] and shatter gives you increased armor/damage as well as extra burst. Start [img=items/dorans-blade.png]. Careful for [img=champ/soraka.png] and Taric's mana pool. [img=champ/zilean.png] - Zilean can speed you up for quick escapes with [img=skills/vayne/q.png], and he can harass hard with his bombs. Start [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png]. Careful for any form of sustain.

Continue to farm, but don't sit at bottom lane for too long. At around 20ish minutes it's a good idea to group up with your team to take objectives such as dragon or outer turrets. This is when you should start fighting with your team. Make sure to finish your [img=items/the-black-cleaver.png] or [img=items/the-bloodthirster.png] as fast as possible, as these will give you tons of damage during mid game. Help your team with warding with your [img=items/wriggles-lantern.png], if you built it, if not buy wards. This is when Vayne should be picking up a bunch of kills through ganking and aggresive play.

Make sure you have at least one defensive item before Late Game. I tend to prefer [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png], but it's very situational. If the result of the game depends on the last teamfight, build a [img=items/guardian-angel.png]. You should be positioning yourself to destroy the enemy carry and support during every fight, but do not tunnel vision to get the kill. See the next section for a more in depth look at positioning for late game team fights.

During late game, chances are you put out the most damage on your team by a large margin. This means that the enemy team is likely to focus you. Use your [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png], [img=summoners/flash.png], or [img=summoners/cleanse.png] to escape focus, if necessary. In fights, if the confrontation is going to be head on or if your team is likely to be initiated on, stay towards the back of the group and look for opportunities to destroy CC'd opponents. Do NOT be afraid to kill the singed or amumu or irelia barreling into you. Not focusing these targets when they are attacking you takes you out of the fight, giving the enemy team the advantage. Do NOT depend on your support to save your ass when you get jumped on. You CAN use exhaust or Q + R to make a quick juke and re-focus carries, but be careful in doing so. If you have time to set up the fight, such as at baron or dragon if your team has good map control/counter-initiation/initiation, you can attempt to sneak around the sides or back of the enemy formation. If performed correctly, you can burst out the enemy carry/mage/support player and collapse in on the tanks. Be careful for jump chamions and enemy re-focus, as this can leave you out to dry in a heartbeat. This strategy is very high-risk/high-reward, so be cautious when attempting this. In summary: [.]Do NOT tunnel-vision. [.]Do NOT rely on your team to save you. [.]Do NOT be afraid to attack the tank. [.]Do NOT get caught out, ever.
