WARNING: THIS GUIDE IS FOR ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT CASTERS IN THE GAME. IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE UP TO THE CHALLENGE THEN READ FURTHER. kAssadin is a beast, a monster. He destroys anything squishy, and has the most mobility out of any champion, even more than TF (imo). He requires having map awareness, and being able to last hit versus a stronger early champion in order to be useful later. Also, I would not recommend picking Kassadin early, as many people know tons of counters to him. I will go over that later in the counter-pick chapter. Also, if you like guides with gameplay vids at 2k+ elo, then this guide is for you, beacuse I have WAY TOO MANY VIDS!

For Masteries I run 21/0/9, standard AP carry runes. [imgext=http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa439/Christian_Kahmann/yo/KASSADINGAMASTERYPAGE.png] Runes are a little different, however. You should get 9 magic pen marks, but the seals can be either mana regen or armor depending on your matchup. For a caster like Ahri who has a lot of pressure and can be really agressive, I would recommend grabbing armor yellows. For blues, you can grab either ap/level or flat mr. If you are against something like a Karthus who after 6 can't really do much to you, then I would opt for ap/level. For quints you can grab hpregen/5 or spell vamp. I think these are necessary to make up for Kassadin's weak sustain in lane/inability to clear waves. [imgext=http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa439/Christian_Kahmann/yo/kassadingarunepage.png]

Starting item: [item=boots-of-speed][item=health-potion3]. You usually grab this even against difficult laners, simply because you need the early mobility to last hit. If you are playing against a caster like Morgana, however, I would make an exception and possibly start regrowth, simply because she will be pushing and will force you to last hit at tower from very early levels. fIRST SHOP: [item=philosophers-stone] I recommend starting philo if you are learning Kassadin. The regeneration makes laning fairly easy, and this combined with pots will allow you to not fall too far behind in CS, even while taking harassment. [item=catalyst-the-protector] will come soon after, however if you can get a catalyst by 7:20 which is when your blue should spawn and you will be 6, then I would recommend doing so. iMMEDIATE: [item=rod-of-ages] You go Rod every game, no matter what. This item is essential to Kassadin's kit and he utilizes all of the stats very nicely. He uses the stats very nicely, including the health as roaming with a low health pool can be very risky. It gives you some leeway and allows you to get caught a little bit, just not too badly. Look in my gameplay vids for good timings to have Rod by. You will never get it at the same time, but you can know how well you are doing by what time you grab your rod, as it were. [item=sorcerers-shoes] You should usually be grabbing sorcs after you grab your rod. If you feel you are in need of some mobility and you simply aren't getting the farm, say you back and you only have 750 gold and can't afford your rod or blasting wand, then pick up sorcs. They make roaming much easier and provide a nice boost in early game damage. [item=rabadons-deathcap] Deathcap will usually be your next item. Pretty self-explanatory, but will provide a huge jump in damage. vS DOUBLE AP: [item=abyssal-scepter] Usually grab abyssal as a situational item, and after deathcap. This item is good if the enemy team has low MR and they are running a dual caster setup. If they are running dual casters, you can even grab it before deathcap. iF ENEMY TEAM MR STACK: [item=void-staff] is a great item to allow you to be able to do tons of damage to tanks, as that will be your focus a lot of the time. Mainly just making sure your AD carry isn't getting mobbed by a tanky DPS, and having void staff allows you to cut tanks that are stacking MR. iF SCARED OF DEATH: [item=guardian-angel] GA is a nice finisher item after you have most of your core finished. It allows you to play less passively, but you should not go too kamikazee and you really only want to rely on the resurrection as a last resort. vS HEAVY AD STACK: [item=frozen-heart] is great against a heavy AD stacked composition. Kassadin also utilizes all of the stats extremely well. [img=items/archangels-staff.png] just mentioning this item because it seems like it would work well on Kassadin. I think there are better options, however. For the stats, Archangels really doesn't give you much, however it allows you to charge up your R fairly easily for some extra burst. I wouldn't say its a terrible item, its just not something I would make into a core build. yOUR FRIENDS: [item=health-potion] + [item=mana-potion] Keep tons of these in your inventory, as an extra health or mana pot in a gank could be the difference between a kill and no kill.

NEVER FIRST PICK KASSADIN, GOOD PLAYERS WILL PUNISH YOU FOR IT. There are certain champions that you should not pick Kassadin against, mainly any AD based champions. Other "iffy" matchups include: [.][imgsmall=champ/cassiopeia.png] - she can outpush you early and control the game before you can even do anything. [.][imgsmall=champ/fizz.png] - this little guy can be beast in lane, especially when used correctly. He will harass you hard early, and it will be hard to land your [imgsmall=skills/kassadin/q.png] for harass because he can [imgsmall=skills/fizz/e.png] and dodge it pretty easily [.][imgsmall=champ/morgana.png] - she will outpush you early, you must be able to last hit well on tower. nOTE: ONCE YOU GET OUT OF THE LANING PHASE YOU BASICALLY COUNTER ALL AP CHAMPIONS 1V1, IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW USEFUL YOU CAN BE IN TEAMFIGHTS/SKIRMISHES.

[title][img=skills/kassadin/p.png] Passive: Void Stone[/title] [number]Kassadin takes 15% reduced magic damage and transforms this damage into bonus attack speed. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Not much to say about this, is pretty good for a mid laner who is primarily versus AP champions. The attack speed is also nice because it synergizes with your W, and when you are ganking you will be using your W a lot. [title][img=skills/kassadin/q.png] Q: Null Sphere[/title] [number]Kassadin fires a void bolt dealing 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+70% of ability power) magic damage and silencing the target for 1 / 1.4 / 1.8 / 2.2 / 2.6 seconds. Cooldown 9 seconds Cost 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110mana Range 650[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Your harass, you will max this first. Silences the enemy, you can use this to interrupt, and also prevent people from flashing away while you finish them off. [title][img=skills/kassadin/w.png] W: Nether Blade[/title] [number]Passive: Kassadin's melee attacks draw energy from the void, restoring 8/11/14/17/20 mana each hit. If this effect is triggered from attacking a champion the amount of mana restored is tripled. Active: Kassadin charges his nether blade, gaining 30/45/60/75/90 (+0.15 ability power) bonus magic damage dealt on hit for 5 seconds. Cost 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Your W is pretty good for last hitting early on. It also gives you mana regen when you autoattack, which is nice in the laning phase. Pop your W whenever you want to [.]Last hit [.]Add extra damage to your autoattacks in ganks [.]Charge up stacks of E [title][img=skills/kassadin/e.png] E: Force Pulse[/title] [number]Kassadin draws energy from spells cast in his vicinity, gaining a charge whenever a spell is cast near him. Upon reaching 6 charges, Kassadin can use Force Pulse to deal 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+70% of ability power) magic damage and slow enemies by 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% in a cone in front of him for 3 seconds. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 80 mana Range 400[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Your E is a great chasing ability. Try to make sure you have this up when you are roaming, as a Kassadin with E ready is much more terrifying than a Kassadin without E ready. Also, remember that it will nearly always be up in a teamfight. [title][img=skills/kassadin/r.png] R: Riftwalk[/title] [number]Kassadin teleports to a nearby location dealing 60 / 90 / 120 (+50% of ability power) magic damage to surrounding enemy units. Additionally, each subsequent Riftwalk in the next 7 seconds costs 100 additional mana and deals 60 / 90 / 120 additional damage. Cooldown 6 / 5 / 4 seconds Cost 100 mana Range 1000 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Basically a built in flash, that also does damage. What you have to remember is that after you use your first riftwalk, you will have a period of about 3-4 seconds where you should wait before you use it again. This is because you do not want to start stacking 3-4 stacks of riftwalk as your mana pool will be completely depleted, even with blue buff. The only time I recommend stacking riftwalk stacks is when you go tears and you have a huge mana pool.

Basically your role in a teamfight is to assist your team in landing kills, and not dying. Yes, you are an anti mage, and yes, you have a silence. This does not mean that you should be diving onto the enemy caster and letting their team switch to you, cc you, and kill you. Hit whatever you can, and play carefully, especially at first. After awhile you will learn how aggressive you can be without putting yourself at too much risk. Remember that your primary job is to chase and assist. You need to stay alive in order to do this. You can assist your team even with low health. You can also look at the gameplay vids to get a good idea on what you are supposed to do in a teamfight.
