[highlight]Updated the basic stuff, but his biggest counters are really minions[/highlight] As you could gather from the Item Builds, I play Udyr in three different way; this guide is going to introduce the 2 more viable ones to you (I will try to add the other ways in the future after i get more time playing them). Udyr used to be considered one of the strongest bruisers until several nerfs toned him down, including the recent dodge removal. He is still one of the safest and fastest junglers, but also one of the strongest laners. The runes, masteries, summoners, and the skill order above apply to phoenix jungle Udyr. [title]General Udyr[/title] [highlight]Why Udyr is good:[/highlight] [.]Moves very fast [.]is quite durable [.]Sustain [.]On-hit Stun [highlight]What makes him look bad:[/highlight] [.]lack of a real ultimate [.]No gap closer, prone to kite [.]mediocre teamfight utility [.]no lategame damage As you can see, Udyr has his strengths and weaknesses. The following will discuss when to choose which path. [highlight]Phoenix in the Jungle[/highlight] This is currently the most popular Udyr jungle due to its fast clearing speed. While the phoenix damage is very noticable early on, it falls off later on. Phoenix allows you to melt jungle camps and is very effective against counterjungling because you can duel well and will rarely get to low health on camps. Phoenix can keep up in farm with the lanes. Clearin to level 4 takes 3:35~ without a leash. [highlight]Tiger in the Lane[/highlight] Going Tiger in lane gives you insanely high killing potential. Tiger Udyr is one of the strongest champions lvl 1 to 5. Also, your main burst is magic damage while your autoattacks still hit hard, so you will still do a lot of damage even against people starting cloth against you. You should try and get a kill early to snowball; once you and your enemy hit 6, the enemy will get an ultimate while you don't. [highlight]Tiger in the Jungle[/highlight] Tiger Udyr has higher single target damage. Which means he lacks AOE and is therefore the slower version. Tiger Udyr is better suited to gank early or steal the enemies' buffs/big wraith/big golem and crippling them. His standard clearing to 4 takes 3:50~ without a leash. Good thing about Tiger is that you can start with [imgsmall=items/vampiric-scepter.png] and still be relatively full health wasting no gold on pots. Personally, i believe Phoenix is more advantageous and better suited for the jungle. [highlight]Phoenix in the Lane[/highlight] The idea is to keep the wave pushed in order to 1. counterjungle and 2. make it harder for the enemy to get lasthits. While i personally do not play him this way, it surely has its advantages, such as faster waveclearing, and more AOE damage in teamfights. However, you early game will be weaker than Tiger Udyr's. [highlight]Who wrote this guide?[/highlight] I, Alabababa, started playing LOL back in 2009, shortly after its release. I am by no means a high elo player, but i consider my knowledge of this game to exceeds my ingame skills. Currently, i am slightly over 1600 on the EUNE server playing with 1-40 fps (the main reason i stopped playing rankeds) and i want to assure you that playing Udyr like i do indeed works. I picked up Udyr over a year ago and still enjoy playing him after several changes. He is one of my most played champs despite not having that many yet. So far this is my 5th guide on solomid, with 2 approved ones. I hope this is enough credibility. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/GAVYO.jpg] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/wAdZ1.jpg]

[title]Lane Tiger[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/WOoSX.jpg] This page gives you a lot of early game damage and survivability. AD Marks and Quints allow you to secure first blood. The reason AD runes are better than MPen or ArPen is it benefits both your autoattacks and your [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] Burst, which has a very high AD scaling. The Seals and Glyphs are for defense and really depends on your lane matchup. If youre facing an AP carry, you will need flat MR and optionally swap out Armor for HP/lvl (although i highly value Armor in every matchup). If youre up against a purely physical bruiser, you might as well go scaling MR. This page is rather easy to acquire, it is a cheap and effective page you also use for AD carries. Update: I know tend to go lanespecific: Going 15AD + 19 Armor against AD heavy lanes, 8.5AD + 13Armor + 12MR + 4.5%MS against ranged casters, and standard AD Carry page against those who require it (bruisers that do mixed damage such as irelia). [title]Jungle Phoenix[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/2V8hd.jpg] This is the page i use for Phoenix jungle; AS are the best possible option for Marks since more attacks lead to more phoenix procs and faster clearing. Armor Seals are self-explanatory and i like MR/lvl since you wont really deal with magic damage early on. Later the bonus MR adds a lot to your tankiness. MS Runes for being faster which allows you to roam faster and gank more efficiently. Another option are AS Quints, since MS has diminishing effects with your masteries and boots; however, i still feel more comfortable with that little extra MS.

[title][img=skills/udyr/p.png] Passive: Monkey's Agility[/title] [number]Entering a stance grants Udyr 10% attack speed and 3% dodge for 5 seconds. This effect can stack.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] It doesnt give dodge anymore. Not really noticable, it is like a weaker version of Lee Sin's passive now. It basically gives you a little more attack speed for faster jungle clearing/more damage output. To really maximize the efficiency, keep stance dancing. A rather weak passive in my opinion. [title][img=skills/udyr/q.png] Q: Tiger Stance[/title] [number]Activation: On his next attack, Udyr swipes at his target, dealing normal attack and dealing 150% of his attack damage + 30 / 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 extra damage over 2 seconds as magic damage. In addition, It increases attack speed 5% less than passive for 5 seconds. Persistent Effect: Udyr's attack speed is increased by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%. Half of this is persistent, the other half is activated for 5 seconds. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is your main damage output if going LaneTiger. It has really high AD scaling and damages over time. Once you activate it, the on-hit stays until you hit a target if you dont switch stances. If you do, the on-hit will remain for the duration of the AS buff. Oh, and it buffs your AS. With Wriggles, you can wear down jungle objectives really fast. Your combination: Hide in brush, activate [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. Swap to [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png], run at your enemy and attack him. He will be stunned and take a lot of damage. Once the stun wears of and he tries to run, switch back to [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and apply the DoT once more. Do not do this to early as 2 Tiger procs will only prolong the effect, not stack. [title][img=skills/udyr/w.png] W: Turtle Stance[/title] [number]Activation: Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+50% of ability power) damage. Persistent Effect: Udyr's attacks cannot crit, but he restores 10/12/14/16/18% of his damage as health and 5/6/7/8/9% of his damage as mana. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is what makes Udyr insanely tanky. In lane, you want to be in Turtle to sustain health and mana. Activate it to block certain spells (such as Parrrley). Usually, you want to max this second. A 220 shield every 6 seconds is extremely strong. When running away, make sure to be swapping between [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] and [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png]. [title][img=skills/udyr/e.png] E: Bear Stance[/title] [number]Activation: Udyr gains 15 / 18 / 21 / 24 / 27% increased movement speed for 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 seconds. Persistent Effect: Udyr mauls his target with such force that they are stunned for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for 6 seconds. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Bear Stance gives you an on-hit stun as well as a movement speed boost. Use the stun like any other: to gank/disable/get your [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] off etc. You want to catch people and switch dances to Tiger or Phoenix respectively. In teamfights, you can stun every enemy when you switch targets. Use this to escape as well as to chase. When you have blue buff, you can use this to move around the map quicker. [imgsmall=summoners/flash.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] is a great ganking tool. [title][img=skills/udyr/r.png] R: Phoenix Stance[/title] [number]Activation: Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing 15/25/35/45/55 (+25% of ability power) magic damage each second to nearby enemies for 5 seconds. In addition, Udyr's ability power is increased by 16 / 24 / 32 / 40 / 48 and his attack damage is increased by half of that amount. Persistent Effect: Every third attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame, dealing 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 (+25% of ability power) magic damage. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Phoenix Stance is used to deal AOE damage. You mainly use this to clear camps and minion waves. In teamfights, use Phoenix to add AOE damage. Be sure to swap stances after the Phoenix proc. Position in a way that it hits as many targets as possible. This is the reason Udyr farm so efficiently. He can clear huge waves of minions in a few seconds, and roams the map very fast, making him both a good splitpusher and defender. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMSeAZPd9kE[/youtube] This is basically your [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] combo. Activate Tiger and try to catch them with bear. Try to wait a few seconds, so you can activate tiger again once the first wears off. Notice how the Bear Stun applies the DoT from Tiger. The video should just demonstrate it in case some did not get it; it's a game against bots and the quality is pretty crappy and i dont know how to record.

The skill order for Udyr is different every game. [title]Lane Tiger[/title] You basically want to max Tiger first and Bear second. Which skill you start with depends on the matchup. If you invade, take [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] for the stun; [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] is a possibility if your team has sufficient disables. If youre not invading you start [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] for safer laning against ranged mostly, [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] for bursting the enemy beginning from lvl 1, or [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] to stun the enemy when he goes for the last hit. After that, this will be the main maxing order: [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png] while you want points in [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] at lvl 4. [title]Jungle Phoenix[/title] Max Phoenix first for faster clearing and more damage. [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] second to be able to sustain through the jungle, and [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] at lvl 3/4 if you plan to gank. If you do the standard route, your skill order will look like this: [imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png] Then proceed to max in this order: [imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] Rarely do i get 2 lvls in Bear before maxing Turtle just to get a little but more MS. This is not efficient due to diminishing effects, a second lvl in Bear gives you 4~ MS. But if you find the enemy to get away very closely each time, this might work.

http://www.leaguereplays.com/replays/match/208728/ A video on how to play Tiger lane Udyr. This is at 1600~ elo (although i believe the nidalee was 1500ish or something). I am laning against a [imgsmall=champ/nidalee.png]. I actually made tons of mistakes and my mechanical skills were really rusty after not playing rankeds for quite some time. I missed a lot of cs that i could have gotten and i died once for no reason, but the overall playstyle of Udyr should become clear: Establish an early advantage lvl 1-5 (in this game, a gank helped), and zone your enemy after that. I will try to add further replays on Phoenix jungle amongst others in the future; i have no fraps to upload the video.

[title]Lane Tiger[/title] As Tiger Udyr in lane, you want following stats: [.]HP, Armor, MR - Survivability is always needed especially since youre an melee bruiser with no defensive masteries. Getting these stats before teamfights start is crucial. [.]MS - Movement Speed is a very important stat. You need it to run, chase and catch people in combination with Bear Stun, and avoid getting kited too hard. However, as you already have very high movement speed, it will have diminishing effects. [.]AD - Your main damage output comes from your [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png], which has a pretty high scaling, and your autoattacks, making AD the main stat to buy if you want more damage. [.]Tenacity - Personally, i like the new Ninja Tabi more than Mercs against certain matchups. Another option is [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png]. You do nat want to be mass cc'd before you can even reach an enemy. [.]Lifesteal - Adds to your turtle sustain. Let's take a look at possible starting items: [center][img=items/cloth-armor.png][img=items/health-potion5.png] [/center] This combination is necessary against strong physical laners such as [imgsmall=champ/gangplank.png][imgsmall=champ/riven.png][imgsmall=champ/renekton.png] etc. [center][img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png][/center] Your primary option against anything else ([imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png][imgsmall=champ/nasus.png]). [center] [img=items/mercurys-treads.png] or [img=items/ninja-tabi.png][/center] You want to turn these into Boots 2 on your next trip back, depending on who youre laning against (Mercs against AP, CC; Ninja Tabi against Physical Lane and/or Jungle). I would call boots 2 your core. Because you will need them every game. Further items vary each game, but the following are viable as next items in most situations: [center][img=items/dorans-blade.png][img=items/dorans-blade.png][/center] Double Dorans is certainly i possibility if you want to kill your lane. Also good if you already got kills and want to pressure your lane. All in all a decent investment for early game damage. [center][img=items/bilgewater-cutlass.png][/center] Perfect item for Tiger Udyr. Makes it incredibly easy to pull your combo off, gives nice overall stats. Dont upgrade it anytime soon as Gunblade is not worth the gold until you have nothing else to buy. [center][img=items/heart-of-gold.png][/center] This is the only Gold item i ever get; if you need more health to survive early on and going for Randuins anyways, grab a HoG early. [center][img=items/hexdrinker.png] or [img=items/wits-end.png][/center] Both serve a similar purpose: MR against a caster in lane. Hexdrinker gives you more initial Burst and a shield and is cheaper, while Wits end gives you more sustained damage and more MR(the 42 on-hit damage can be compared with the 35 bonus AD that adds to your Autoattack). Personally, i like to get Hexdrinker when the enemy has a finishing skill such as [imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png][imgsmall=champ/mordekaiser.png][imgsmall=champ/karthus.png]. Agaist champions like [imgsmall=champ/ryze.png][imgsmall=champ/singed.png], i recommend Wits End. [center][img=items/ionic-spark.png][/center] The new item gives health and a on hit chain lightning every 4 attacks. I would not recommend it on Tiger Udyr, the only purpose would be to push and clear faster. [center][img=items/phage.png][/center] My favorite item for Tiger Udyr, AD, HP and a slow which will proc quite often combined with your natural fast attack speed. Builds mostly into [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png], but consider [imgsmall=items/frozen-mallet.png] as well. [center][img=items/spirit-visage.png][/center] An entirely defensive item. If you find yourself having trouble with AP casters in lane. [center][img=items/wriggles-lantern.png] [/center] This item is a must-buy if you are laning against a difficult physical champion. Even if not, this item offers a lot: Sustain, damage, wards, and the ability to steal jungle camps faster. [center][img=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png][/center] If youre going for Elixirs, Red offers the most. Both AD and HP are great to have on Tiger Udyr; [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-agility.png][imgsmall=items/elixir-of-brilliance.png] only if you have finished your build already as neither AS/Crit, nor AP/CDR are necessary stats. After that you can focus your build on items to protect you from dying in teamfights or even more damage if you are doing really well. [img=items/aegis-of-the-legion.png][img=items/atmas-impaler.png][img=items/banshees-veil.png][img=items/force-of-nature.png][img=items/frozen-heart.png][img=items/frozen-mallet.png][img=items/guardian-angel.png][img=items/quicksilver-sash.png][img=items/randuins-omen.png][img=items/shurelyas-reverie.png][img=items/the-black-cleaver.png][img=items/the-bloodthirster.png][img=items/trinity-force.png][img=items/warmogs-armor.png] You want to balance your build and build accordint to the enemy team. The following represents a build that works against balanced teams. [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/wriggles-lantern.png][imgsmall=items/frozen-mallet.png][imgsmall=items/atmas-impaler.png][imgsmall=items/force-of-nature.png][imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] [title]Jungle Phoenix[/title] In this role, you want to acquire: [.]HP, Armor, MR - as your role will be quite similar, you want to be tanking; therefore, defensive stats are a priority. [.]AS - Your main damage comes from you attack speed as phoenix, since you will proc the phoenix strike more often. [.]Tenacity - Less CC means you will hit/run more. You can get kited quite easily. Start with: [center][img=items/cloth-armor.png][img=items/health-potion5.png] [/center] This gives you enough survivability to stay in the jungle for a long time. He does not really need as many health pots, but for counterjungling/ganking, it is always safer to pop a potion. Next thing you want is: [center][img=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png][imgsmall=items/boots-of-mobility.png] [/center] As Jungler i prefer Merc Treads although they are more expensive. This is because the little Tenacity also helps when you gank, and most teams build around cc. However, the other 2 are also possibilities, Ninja Tabi when the enemy has 3 autoattacking AD champions or Boots of Mobility, if you plan to gank/roam more efficiently (Should be sold for Ninja or Mercs later on). With boots 2 you will travel around fastter and gank better. [center][img=items/wits-end.png][img=items/aegis-of-the-legion.png][/center] I consider this core on Phoenix Udyr. Wits end gives you insane clearing time and a decent amount of damage/MR. Aegis is necessary if you are going for any kind of midgame fight. Unless someone else wants to get it no matter what, Aegis is a great addition to Udyr. [center][img=items/oracles-elixir.png][/center] This is a great asset if youre jungling. Denying the enemy vision allows for easy ganks, jungle invasions and passive playing by the enemy. [center][img=items/ionic-spark.png][/center] Greater jungling, offers AS and HP. However, so far i think it is only effective for early to midgame. [center][img=items/force-of-nature.png][/center] Same as above with Tiger, Udyr generally needs to be tanky. Force of nature is the best choice if you need MR; the bonus MS and Regen only make it better. [center][img=items/frozen-heart.png] or [img=items/randuins-omen.png][/center] You need at least on of them; if the enemy has 3 ADs, you might just as well get both. Frozen Heart is needed in a lategame teamfight. However, if someone else on your team already has it, go for Randuins. [center][img=items/guardian-angel.png][/center] In preparation for a gamedeciding teamfight, a second life is invaluable. It might win you the game. [center][img=items/trinity-force.png][/center] This would be your only offensive item besides Wits End. Dont build this too early, but if you have no trouble surviving, Trinity Force will boost your damage and utility by a lot. You basically want to tank as much as possible after finishing your core build.

I will just start a new chapter since it would get too confusing otherwise. This is how you will progress your build as Tiger Udyr, what to get if you have to soak up a lot of damage. Although i am against set builds, this is what i recommend you to go if you have no clue. [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png][imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png][imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png][imgsmall=items/heart-of-gold.png] Pretty much core. [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/frozen-heart.png][imgsmall=items/force-of-nature.png][imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] Fozen Heart and Randuins works really well if the enemy has 3 AD oriented champs. If theyre running double AP you can consider swapping one out. This gives you 2 slots for more offensive choices (not necessarily as last items), such as: [imgsmall=items/wits-end.png][imgsmall=items/frozen-mallet.png][imgsmall=items/atmas-impaler.png][imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png][imgsmall=items/maw-of-malmortius.png]

[title]Tiger Lane Matchups[/title] [.][imgsmall=champ/akali.png] Akali shouldnt be too hard. Run flat MR Glyphs. As Akali requires a specific runepage, she will often not rune for MR or even Armor. She can outplay you, but lvl 1-5 you are stronger. What she has over you is the energy system which allows her to spam more than you. A couple of Tiger bursts starting at lvl 3 should wear her down quickly. You can start boots to have an easier time catching her. [.][imgsmall=champ/chogath.png] Cho Gath reaches a point where he just cannot die in lane due to his insane sustain. If you manage to catch Cho of guard and can zone him prior to lvl 3, you can try to zone him. Generally, this will end in a farm-off. [.][imgsmall=champ/gangplank.png] Gangplank is a very strong physical laner. Start Cloth+5. Wth Turtle Stance, you can eventually outsustain him. What he has over you is ranged harass. However, Parrrley is easily shielded with Turtle Stance, just make sure you dont run out of mana. [.][imgsmall=champ/garen.png] Start cloth, maybe even get an Armor quint. Once he starts spinning, dont run but keep attacking him by switching between [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png]. [.][imgsmall=champ/irelia.png] Irelia is a very annoying champion to deal with because of her stun. She can disengage before you try to kill her and has decent sustain. However, you are a lot stronger in lane. Tiger her whenever she comes too close. [.][imgsmall=champ/kennen.png] Kennen is a bad matchup for you. 1. he is insanely safe with his range and his E, so killing him will be very difficult. 2. He has range, making his harass very obnoxious. Start with boots, dont get hit by skillshots. He shouldnt really be able to kill you tho. [.][imgsmall=champ/nasus.png] Easy for you. However, his wither stops any killing attempt. Try to bait it a few times so he runs out of mana. When he doesnt use it, he loses a straight up 1v1. It is important to deny him farm. [.][imgsmall=champ/nidalee.png] Nidalee has annoying range advantage over you. If you are able to catch her, she quickly falls. Start either boots or cloth, depending when your jungler wants to gank. Cloth is safer, but you will mostly farm. [.][imgsmall=champ/renekton.png] Renekton is an early beast as well. But he doesnt use mana, so he basically has infinite sustain. He can just dash away any time you attempt something. Yo uhave to kinda outplay him. Definitely start with cloth armor. [.][imgsmall=champ/riven.png] Riven deals heavy physical damage, but has no sustain. Before 6 you beat her. Start cloth armor. She is also very mobile making her hard to catch. Punsih her last hits. [.][imgsmall=champ/rumble.png] You beat rumble lvl 1-3. After he gets a few levels, this matchup becomes quite impossible to win. He can basically free harass you, and with no mana system, can simply spam his shield, kite you, and harass you. If you engage him prior to level 3 or 4, you might gain the upperhand. Once he gets spellvamp, it is nearly impossible. Start with boots or null mantle and rush mercs to Hexdrinker and/or Wits end. I havent been able to straight up 1v1 an equally farmed rumble with those 3 MR items. [.][imgsmall=champ/ryze.png] Ryze gets free harass off of you. Ganks kill him quite fast, dont let him get to the point where he can bully you out of lane. Early on, he only has range over you as he cant spam yet. After Tear, laning becomes a pain in the ass. Start Boots. Push the lane early as Ryze cannot lashit. [.][imgsmall=champ/shen.png] Havent laned against new shen yet, but he seems quite strong. Looks like a farm off to me. [.][imgsmall=champ/singed.png] Punish him before level 6. You have a huge advantage, but once he gets his ult, you cant really kill him anymore. [.][imgsmall=champ/teemo.png] One of the worst matchups for you. [.][imgsmall=champ/trundle.png] Trundle has the ability to lower your AD which affects both your autoattacks and your Tiger DoT. He also runs slightly faster than you. He has decent sustain and the ability to shred you. I would concentrate on farming. [.][imgsmall=champ/tryndamere.png] Tryndamere also has the ability to reduce your AD; harass him very early. You might start with Tiger and Harass him every single last hit he wants to take from level 1. Tryndamere without fury is only half as scary. [.][imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] He can outsustain, outpush, and outrange you. Difficult lane. [.][imgsmall=champ/warwick.png] While he can outsustain you, his damage besides Q is not high at all. Rather than back off, trade with him. [.][imgsmall=champ/wukong.png] You beat him due to sustain. Dont underestimate his damage potential tho. [.][imgsmall=champ/yorick.png] Yoric has crazy sustain and annoying harassment tools. However, you want notice too much of the damage once you get a few items/levels. [title]Phoenix Jungle Matchups[/title] [.][imgsmall=champ/alistar.png] You beat him in a straight 1v1. However, his cc might give his lanes enough time to react. Alistar usually starts Wolves/Blue. You should be able to counterjungle him. [.][imgsmall=champ/amumu.png] Same as with Ali, starts at blue. Amumu is even more vulnerable in the jungle due to no real escape and no cc until usually lvl 4. You would at least burn his flash. [.][imgsmall=champ/leesin.png] Lee Sin is one of the stronger junglers. I wouldnt risk counterjungling him as he has very high singletarget damage early on. There is the risk that he kills you, and you killing him is unlikely due to his mobility. Also, Lee often starts red and runs exhaust. However, you clear a lot faster than him, if your team manages to survive his ganks, you will come out ahead. [.][imgsmall=champ/maokai.png] Maokai is not necessarily strong in the jungle, but his sustain and cc makes him quite hard to kill. He also clears decently. Try to interrupt his Zapling at wraiths so that his route is set back. [.][imgsmall=champ/masteryi.png] You beat Master Yi early game. Depending on how lucky he is with Alpha Strike, you can steal his Red and even golems if the according lane is putting out pressure. Yi does not want to engage you 1v1. [.][imgsmall=champ/nocturne.png] Nocturne is quite fast at clearing and can really start anywhere. Killing him is impossible as your stun is predictable, if he procs his shield he might even gain the upper hand. [.][imgsmall=champ/rammus.png] Rammus is very vulnerable while W is down. You can ward the enemy Red and engage him once DBC wears off. [.][imgsmall=champ/shaco.png] He cant really counter you as you are one of the safest junglers. What you can do is disrupt his boxes early, however, it can be very risky if you have no vision of the enemy team. [.][imgsmall=champ/skarner.png] Skarner clears fast, moves fast and permaslows melees. Usually starts at blue. Counterjungling is risky though. Due to his ability to keep up in farm, it is often not beneficial to gank while camps are up. There are lanes that allow for easier ganks; on the other hand, some lanes are simply not worth the time. [highlight]Gankable Enemies[/highlight] [.][imgsmall=champ/akali.png] Get a [imgsmall=items/oracles-elixir.png]or[imgsmall=items/vision-ward.png] if you are going to gank her. Prior to level 6, it will be an easy kill. [.][imgsmall=champ/kassadin.png] Gank him before he gets his blink. [.][imgsmall=champ/mordekaiser.png] Immobile and no cc, perfect target. [.][imgsmall=champ/nidalee.png] Before level 6. Watch the map closely or pay attention to your minimap to spot her traps. There are oviously many more lanes that you can gank depending on wether they ward/push/get baited etc. However, dont waste your time with the following. They also counter you, mainly by kiting. [highlight]Ungankables[/highlight] [.][imgsmall=champ/ahri.png][imgsmall=champ/akali.png][imgsmall=champ/kassadin.png][imgsmall=champ/leblanc.png][imgsmall=champ/nidalee.png][imgsmall=champ/talon.png] After level 6, there is no point. [.][imgsmall=champ/anivia.png] 3 of her 4 abilities counter you. [.][imgsmall=champ/kennen.png] You cant really chase him [.][imgsmall=champ/janna.png] Hard to deal with prior to 6, impossible to gank after. [.][imgsmall=champ/morgana.png] You have to get close to her to do anything. Once youre close you get binded. Those are champions amongst others that have either high mobility or cc to prevent you from ganking. [highlight]Teammates you gank for[/highlight] [.][imgsmall=champ/alistar.png] Alistar can easily initiate a gank for you. [.][imgsmall=champ/gangplank.png] With the movement speed buff and his perma slow it is quite easy to set up a gank. [.][imgsmall=champ/pantheon.png] The combination of closing gaps, a stun and heavy damage output often result in kills. [.][imgsmall=champ/ryze.png] Ryze is possibly the easiest AP carry to gank for due to his instant snare. Of course, there are many more. CC and Gap closers are important factors, many require skillshots and are less reliant. [highlight]Teammates that have to lane on their own[/highlight] [.][imgsmall=champ/nidalee.png][imgsmall=champ/shyvana.png][imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] Basically strong laners with no form of cc. If, for example, you gank for a nidalee before level 6, all she can do is hit a few autoattacks.

[title]Tiger Udyr: Laning Phase[/title] The early phase is were Udyr shines. If you are going for a level 1 invade, hold off you r skill points and get either Q or E depending on your teams needs. If you are on the blue side, help leashing for your jungler (assuming he starts at blue). You might also take the enemy's wraith with your mid, this, however, requires vision on the map (Early wards from your support, CV). If you start out on the purple side, you can do doublegolems before proceeding to lane (again, assuming your jungler doesnt need them early). Let your mid leash them in the best case scenario. In lane, you can go very aggressive against most champions. Once you hit level 4, you should actively try to harass and kill the enemy. Activate [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] in succession, stun the enemy and proc Tiger, reactivate tiger after 1-2 seconds to get another DoT off. Important is using the brush to your advantage. If you do this successfully, you can start zoning the enemy. Often, they will stay distanced to you, but a unleashing your combo with a flash and ignite often results in a kill. Remember to not tunnelvision. Remember the ganking times for the enemy junglers. They will usually hit lvl 4 and gank around the 4 minute mark, Certain champs migh even level 2 gank. Use it to your advantage if their jungler shows somewhere else. Remember the timers for every buff. If the enemy started at blue, it will spawn around the 7 minute mark, same for red. [title]Phoenix Udyr: Jungle Route[/title] For your [number]standard route[/number], do Wolves once they spawn with your [imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png]. Help from lanes is not needed as you easily melt this camp. Have your lanes leash blue afterwards, take it down with a few [imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png] and smite it once it gets low enough. Do Wraiths, Red, Golems (smite the big one), Wraiths for a quick level 4. Now you are at wraiths, level 4, and relatively high HP if you started cloth and pots. If the 2 nearest lanes (mid,, bot for blue; mid, top for purple) allow for an easy gank, go for it. Otherwise, clear wolves and go back to buy your boots and additional wards/pots. While you have red buff, ganking becomes a lot easier and will often result in a kill. Remember to make use of your buffs. Roam the map with E when you have blue. [number]Counterjungling[/number] You can do this against slower or weaker junglers with predictable routes. You can switch your start items to [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion2.png][imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png] or even [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion.png][imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png] (when you want to gank immediately after. Not safe, you have to back earlier). Against a bluestart jungler, you do Wolves and Blue in quick succession. Important is, that you get a lot of help from your lanes, so that you can save smite for counterjungling. After blue ward the enemy Wraith brush and quickly take down their red. If the enemy arrives in time, he have Smite up. Finish Red with smite and run, gank or camp the jungle to score an early kill. In the worst case scenario, you have to flash over the Baron wall. Due to Udyr's strong early game, he can easily 1v1 most junglers without any problems. [number]Counterganking[/number] You basically want to keep clearing Wolves, Wraiths, Golems and Buffs that are up. Try to stay near the area where the enemyy jungler is. If he ganks, you just countergank and turn a 1v2 into a 2v2 with a possibly better outcome. As ganking is often not worth the time, this strategy is quite effective if your lanes are capable of coordinating and baiting ganks.

[title]Tiger Udyr: Mid Game[/title] As toplaner, you want to farm as much as possible, take the enemy's tower, and score kills. If you manage to render your lane opponent useless, you have done your job. Run down to dragon if your team needs you. At this point, you can easily steal the enemy's buff. Keep wards with you, clear choke point wards, and take down Red/blue quickly with Wriggles. Know where the enemy jungler is when you do that. [title]Phoenix Udyr: Mid Game[/title] Continue clearing camps, no jungler can be as fast as Udyr. He amounts a lot of gols which makes him a beast lategame. Gank when the opportunity arises, ask your ane partners for enemy wards. Eventually get an Oracles and clear wards. Secure Dragon. If the enemy shows, Steal his monsters. Hel your team ward important points.

[title]Tiger Udyr: Late Game[/title] Late Game, you want to group with your team, force objectives, keep vision, clear wards. In Teamfights, Udyr's primary job is to zone the enemy carry. Use flash wisely, stun the other enemies on the way and hit the carry with uick alternates between [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png][imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] [title]Phoenix Udyr: Mid Game[/title] You want to sit in the middle of a teamfight and soak up damage that would have otherwise hit your carries. Protect them with help of your stun and decent damage. Spam R for extra damage. [number]Goals late game are to force a fight at objectives if you have the avantage, or simply kite, diesengage and poke. While Udyr does not excel at these areas, he can still butst a carry down. Siege tower and if your team allows it, splitpush. It is very hard to catch a running Udyr.[/number]

Thanks for reading, i hope this guide helped you dealing with Udyr. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of a champion with no ultimate helped me improving as Udyr and a general player.
