Yorick Mori is a really underrated champion. He used to be cream of the crop, everyone was picking him just because of how powerful he could be in lane and how game changing his ults were, but after the nerfs he recieved everyone just... well forgot about him, but you can't kill whats already dead. Yorick's laning phase is without a doubt the STRONGEST in the game. There is only a handful of champions that can contest Yorick's early game harass coupled with his sustain, it's just amazing. That being said as the game progresses Yorick starts to fall off. His mid game and early game are incredibly strong but by late game he turns more into utility for the team; that being said he's still a very powerful and very underrated champion.

Starting Items: or or or This is the general start for the masteries/runes I've listed. It gets you closer to that wonderful tear and helps you maintain your early game harass/farm/pressure. It tends to be the best way to go but there are times where the below options may be more optimal. This particular set up works rather well, but is generally just preference. If you do choose to run it, you'd probably wanna switch out some armor Seals for Mana regen or pick up the meditation mastery. This start is if your against a lane with the ability to poke you out and you don't feel comfortable that you can win the lane. Again if you choose this start you may want to run some mp5 seals or the meditation mastery. You'd more or less only run this if you plan to make a [imgsmall=items/shurelyas-reverie.png] or you just want the extra gold gain from an early [imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png]. [imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png] is NOT a substitution for [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png]/[imgsmall=items/manamune.png] Core Items: / Manamune is Yorick's best item bar none. It gives him that ability to harass non stop without practically ever having to second guess "Is this a good time to poke or will I need this mana later?" It just overall helps him be an even bigger bully in lane and will more then be worth it's weight in gold by mid/late game. / These boots are the only two options you should ever consider on yorick for boots. Both are great, but both are situational. Is top lane a tough physical lane ([imgsmall=champ/xinzhao.png][imgsmall=champ/tryndamere.png][imgsmall=champ/olaf.png][imgsmall=champ/gangplank.png][imgsmall=champ/irelia.png]) Does the enemy have a lot of AD or Physical Auto attackers in general? Then Grab [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png]. Is the enemy team ridden with lots of CC or AP Casters in general? Then Grab [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] Final Build: / These items tend to work nicely on Yorick. [imgsmall=items/warmogs-armor.png] is extremely powerful even after the recent nerfs. It offers him a large health pool giving him further mitigation and the synergy with [imgsmall=items/atmas-impaler.png] and [imgsmall=skills/yorick/p.png] is just amazing, it allows him to truly be defined as a tanky DPS. [imgsmall=items/atmas-impaler.png] is pretty self explanatory, it synergizes will with [imgsmall=items/warmogs-armor.png], gives him some solid damage, and makes him a bit more durable. Final situational items: Want more utility for team fights? Enemy has a lot of AP? Build either or or Enemy has a lot of AD? Build Need more Damage? or Shurelyas helps significantly with one of the major problems Yorick faces (kiting). It also gives him CDR which means more ghoul spam, more Survivability, and a bit more passive sustain. Not too mention the activation itself is absolutely amazing for chasing/running. Force of Nature is a fantastic item for countering the incoming magic damage. It helps make you more durable versus the AP Carries you'll run into and it works well with [imgsmall=items/warmogs-armor.png] Banshee's is great if you're running the utility build, it has synergy with [imgsmall=items/manamune.png] and/or the enemy has an enemy champ that relies heavily on skills to set up their combos or have good means to catch people out of position. ([imgsmall=champ/xerath.png][imgsmall=champ/veigar.png][imgsmall=champ/taric.png][imgsmall=champ/sion.png][imgsmall=champ/ryze.png][imgsmall=champ/leblanc.png][imgsmall=champ/annie.png]) Spirit visage is a strong item given it's value and it goes well with Yorick's [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png]. However, the item only truly shines in the early game and the only time to really grab it is if the enemy team has a strong AP set up. Frozen Heart in the current meta game is just amazing. It gives Yorick damage through [imgsmall=items/manamune.png] it gives him more Hp5 (If you're running util masteries) it has NEARLY the highest armor value on a single item in the game and it gives him CDR which you will come to love on Yorick for that extra pressure/harass. Not only that but the Unique passive on Frozen heart is a direct counter to current FOTM hyper carries [imgsmall=champ/vayne.png][imgsmall=champ/corki.png] or any physical auto attacker in general. Trinity Force has always been a very powerful Offensive item for pretty much any bruiser or anyone with a short CD spammable skill for that matter. All three parts of Trinity go well with Yorick and help remedy some of his problems. The zeal gives him an extra bit of movement speed allowing him to escape/stick to his enemies, as well as, the crit gained on top of [imgsmall=items/atmas-impaler.png]. The Phage gives him a bit more extra life making him slightly more durable, a bit of damage, and a slow which again helps with his issue of sticking on top of enemies. Finally the sheen: It gives him a marginal boost to his [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] which is a bit negligible at this point, However it gives him more mana which adds a bit more damage through [imgsmall=items/manamune.png] and the sheen proc which is absolutely fantastic given his low CD's and High base damage value. It's the perfect DPS item for Yorick that allows him to continue putting on the pressure and the sheen proc can be utilized further through his ability to reset his auto attack with [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png] Hextech Gunblade is more if you'd like to go the route of never dying. It's a strong item that offers a great amount of AD and AP which yorick does benefit well from and it gives him the sustain to constantly keep up pressure and take hits without ever really having to care and the on use is fantastic for allowing him to get on his target quickly and helps with any kiting issues he may have had. Frozen Mallet is another really solid item for yorick. It allows him to stick to the enemy carry hardcore and it builds out of [imgsmall=items/phage.png] which is a very effective early game item option. However I would not build this if you pick up Trinity force as the items tend to conflict with each other as they are both very expensive purchases and they share core mechanics that would be wasted if both items were purchased. When to choose or ? It's pretty simple. If you feel you need more survivability and the guaranteed slow would be more powerful then go for Mallet. If you need more damage and the slow isn't as necessary then Trinity is a stronger option.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/4Bzxe.jpg] These runes are all about early game dominance with the exception of the scaling Magic resist blues. Magic pen makes his harass with his [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] and [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] even stronger and the Attack damage makes last hitting a bit easier as well as makes his [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] harass even stronger. Flat armor is to help w/ the early game punishment you'll take from enemy champs and minions. "But Camping... Why do you skip mana regen runes/masteries completely on yorick!?" During the time I've been playing Yorick, I've come to realize mana regen should become less and less of an issue as the game progresses. Once you pick up your tear you should be solid so grabbing Mana regen runes/Masteries would literally only be useful for about 30 seconds of the first 5 minutes of the game.

[title] Passive: Unholy Covenant[/title] [number]Yorick's basic attacks deal 5% more damage and Yorick takes 5% reduced damage for each summon that is active. Meanwhile, Yorick's ghouls have 35% of Yorick's Attack Damage and Health. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Yorick actually has an INCREDIBLY Good passive. With enough CDR and the general durability of your ghosts you can easily maintain this passive for a good while reducing the incoming amount of damage by a nice chunk and just making your presence in a team fight as "That guy that just wont die!" more apparent. [title] Q: Omen of War[/title] [number]Yorick's next attack will deal 30/35/40/45/50 (+120% of attack damage) physical damage and summon a Spectral Ghoul for up to 5 seconds. The Spectral Ghoul deals 8/16/24/32/40 additional damage per hit and moves 15/20/25/30/35% faster. While the ghoul is active, Yorick moves 15/20/25/30/35% faster as well. Cooldown 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds Cost 40 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Yorick's Q is mostly there for the speed steroid at the early levels. Allowing you to catch up to fleeing enemies or to help in your own escape. It's also important to note that it does reset your swing timer and synergizes quite well with [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png]. That being said it's a one point wonder for the early game which I pick up at level 4 and max it last. On activation [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/OyiaO.jpg] On Use [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/UkIBy.jpg] [title] W: Omen of Pestilence[/title] [number]Yorick summons a Decaying Ghoul that arrives with a violent explosion, dealing 60/95/130/165/200 (+100% of ability power) magic damage and slowing nearby enemies by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds. While the Decaying Ghoul remains alive, nearby enemies continue to be slowed by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for up to 5 seconds. Cooldown 12 seconds Cost 40/45/50/55/60 mana Range 500[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] I grab this at level one for a couple of reasons. It's a good poking tool early on and will help your Jungler with the added splash damage. It's also fantastic if your team goes for a level one team fight. It allows you to check brush or/and apply a strong slow that allows you to get on top of people and do the damage. I max this Second. Radius [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/YKA6V.jpg] On use [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/Vyz9p.jpg] [title] E: Omen of Famine[/title] [number]Yorick deals 55/85/115/145/175 (+100% of attack damage) magic damage and heals for up to 40% of the damage dealt. A Ravenous Ghoul is summoned behind his target, which heals Yorick for the damage it deals and lasts up to 5 seconds. Cooldown 10/9/8/7/6 seconds Cost 55/60/65/70/75 mana Range 550[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Omen of Famine is Yorick's main tool for Harass and what truly makes him such a brute in lane. It allows him to poke enemies down and keep up the constant pressure with the low CD. The amount of hp he receives from using this skill also allows him to almost ALWAYS trade in his favor during the laning phase. I grab Omen of Famine at level 2 and Max it First. Radius [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/osyg2.jpg] On use [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/od7d3.jpg] [title] R: Omen of Death[/title] [number]Yorick conjures a revenant in the image of a target allied champion. Revenants deal 45/60/75% of target ally's Attack Damage. If his ally dies while its revenant is alive, the revenant sacrifices itself to reanimate them. Cooldown 120/105/90 seconds Cost 100 mana Range 700[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is the skill that makes Yorick a strong pick outside of the laning phase. Any team fight you get into can INSTANTLY be turned to be in your favor. What's that? Enemy just caught your AP/AD Carry out of position and bursted them hard, blowing nearly everything they had on them to take them down? Oh? You popped your Ult on them before they went down? Well now that "would have been worthless Carry" is back in the fight doing everything they can to reek vengeance upon those that just brought them down. Omen of Death is just insane, but the above is just one possible scenario! Not only can this fight change a bad fight quickly. It can also give your team a definite edge by adding a 6th body to the fight for a short while. Just plop it on your AD Carry at the start of the fight and suddenly you've got a pseudo 6 v 5 going on and even in the event they burst your AD Carry down for whatever reason he'll pop back up for another 10 seconds of constant damage! Not only can this be great for changing team fights around, but it can also be used to increase the rate at which you do buffs/global objectives or even help you bring a tower down at a quicker rate. It's a VERY powerful skill and should NEVER be overlooked. I grab a skill of his ult any chance I get. Radius [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/SVQcQ.jpg] On use [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/xQAO4.jpg] His ult is controlled in a Shaco clone fashion. During it's life you can control the clone by simply holding alt and clicking to move and attack. Another note to make - All of Yorick's abilities (with the exception of his ult which spawns a clone) spawn a ghost that will (if an enemy hero is within range) tunnel vision chase the closest hostile unit prioritizing champions. However, if it loses sight it will immediately stop it's pursuit I.E. an enemy runs into a brush breaking sight of the ghouls.

The early game is all about establishing dominance. You want to quickly make it clear to your opponent that you are Yorick Mori, this lane is yours, and if they want to kill your allied minions? They're gonna have to deal with a face full of Ghosts. You generally want to do your best to harass your opponent with [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] and [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] while doing your best to last hit and avoid any harass they may throw your way. You'll likely shove them to their tower pretty quickly, which is why you always want to be careful of ganks. Pay attention to where their Jungler currently is if he happens to make an appearance or your ally CVs are good. Look for MIA's on Mid and just play safe while being an ass to the enemy top lane. Yorick's main problem in lane is you will likely be overextended making yourself a perfect opportunity for an enemy gank. Always remember; [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png] are your best friend. Other then the standard play safe, harass, last hit, and avoid being harassed. Always be thinking about the current enemy at hand. As the game progresses there is a good chance that they will be strong enough to 1 v 1 you, but if you take the necessary steps to prepare against them, this will not be the case.

By the time the mid/late game rolls around you should be pretty strong. You're able to 1vX the enemy team or at least act as a durable monster of damage to draw attention away from the less durable members of your team. You should be looking to take down enemy towers or even go for baron or prepare to shove a lane. Always make sure you're at the front line of your team and make use of your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png]'s ability to facecheck bushes if you do not have an available ward or cv. Your general goal should be to ult your carry and then immediately dive onto their squishies to kill, force their attention on you, or even just shove them out of the fight.

This particular part of the guide is to cover the typical match ups you run into as top lane yorick. Each enemy will have a brief description on how to deal with them if they can be dealt with. - She actually isn't too much of a problem. Keep the harass on her grab an early [imgsmall=items/spirit-visage.png] and don't let her proc her mark if you can avoid it. You should come out on top. - Same as any other lane. Do your best to pressure him and force him back. If he's a good cho you likely won't be able to dominate the lane or prevent his farm. All the same you should get him under his tower if you can to make it more difficult. - This guy can actually be a threat. An early [imgsmall=items/spirit-visage.png] will help significantly but I would not recommend going toe to toe with him early on unless you have a nice health lead. - Pretty much the same as Cho. Shove him to his tower to make it more difficult for him too farm, but you likely won't be able to kill him or shove him out of lane without mid/jungle assistance. - Keep the pressure on him hard and get an early chain mail. You can easily outsustain GP for a good while. - Keep throwing ghouls at him and don't let him anywhere near those bushes or allow him to make use of his passive. You'll easily take control of your lane early on and force Garen to play passive which hurts him big time as he tends to capitalize the most on the early game. - Another one you wanna shove to their tower. It's difficult to stop him from farming, but you can make it more difficult. - During the early levels Irelia should be a breeze for you to handle, however as she starts to get more of her core items or items to counter your damage she can become a problem. Slow her farm down and/or kill her if she gets over zealous. - His damage is actually pretty manageable. Just keep poking at him and you'll gain control fairly quickly. - As of current he's actually really strong around level six and your ghouls actually work against you here allowing his E to proc more frequently. That being said he cannot trade with you early on. - Pressure him hard and get early [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] and/or [imgsmall=items/spirit-visage.png]. He cannot out sustain or trade with you. Should be an easy win. - Avoid his skillshot early on and harass him. Shouldn't be an issue. - Shove him to his tower to slow down his farm and be wary of ganks. An enemy jungler+Maokai can be very scary and difficult to escape. - Get him under his tower. If he's smart he wont shove the lane and just farm, just do what you can to pressure him and work towards a gank so he cannot farm his Q. - Pressure her hard. She Cannot trade with you early on, however Nidalee has amazing sustain of her own. She won't be a threat until she hits six and at that point you should have a good enough lead to not worry. - Olaf is actually a surprisingly strong laner against Yorick. You cannot go toe to toe with him and if he picks up a wriggles(As he should) he may actually be able to turn the tide in his favor. Just do your best to poke at him early on and don't allow him to hit you back until you've got a good enough life lead to get in his face. - He cannot trade with you. Just be wary of his combination with enemy Jungle ganks. - Put the pressure on early on before he has a chance to gain some levels. Renekton can be difficult to lane against if he plays properly. - Same as Renekton - Do not let him control the bushes and harass him constantly. - He cannot trade with you early on. Shove him to his tower or kill him before he can get the farm to start to build against you. - Pre level six he's pretty easy to deal with. Pressure him and get him under his tower. - Don't let him control the bushes and don't let him get off his shield. If you find sion giving you trouble pick up [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] and/or [imgsmall=items/spirit-visage.png] - He cannot trade with you. Juke his Rake early on and slap him with some ghouls. Grab an early [imgsmall=items/chain-vest.png] to avoid the incoming burst at six. - Depending on the players skill he may be a problem. You cannot go toe to toe with him so treat it like Olaf. Pressure him hard and don't go in till you have a nice lead. An early [imgsmall=items/chain-vest.png] will help a lot. - Very hard to shove out of lane. Can pretty much just farm through your harass with little care. - Pressure him so he can't auto attack and make use of his passive. He will likely rely on his Q for sustain and you should either force him oom or beat him out early on. - He has no sustain and therefore cannot trade. Harass and shove him to his tower and as always against any high damage AD bruiser a [imgsmall=items/chain-vest.png] is fantastic early on.

Yorick Mori is without a doubt the king of laning. He has the ability to pressure whoever gets in his face and walk away unscathed and even with all the flak he gets from other players he is WITHOUT A DOUBT one of the best champions in the league. Even with the complaint from so many that he falls off as the game progresses Yorick proves time and time again that what you lack in damage you can more then make up for in Utility. If you like/dislike the guide please Vote/Comment. I would appreciate all feed back Negative and positive or hell if the guide just helped you in someway. Thanks for reading the guide I hope it helps!
