[highlight][center]"Death is inevitable; one can only avoid defeat." –- Demacian Manual of Arms[/center][/highlight] [center][imgext=][/center] My name is Razeluxe and this will be my second guide on First I took down Garen, ( ) and now Im moving onto my next Demacian, Xin Zhao. I've owned Xin for a while, but what really got me re-interested in him were the recent changes that greatly increased his jungling capability. I consider Xin Zhao an equally deadly threat in either the Jungle, Solo Lane, or Duo Lane, however for this guide I will focus mainly on Jungle Xin Zhao but include information on how to lane with him as well. If you're looking for a massive wall of text guide, this isn't it. I like to be to the point and to keep things readable, if you want to request anything in more detail comment below! Pros: [.] Great Jungler, Duo Laner, and Solo Laner [.] Can deal significant damage with only 1-2 damage items making him extremely durable [.] Good CC [.] Amazing Assassin/Duelist while still retaining a high team fight prescence [.] Godly late game scaling Cons: [.]Succeptible to Counter-Jungling [.]No escape mechanisms [.]Can quickly fall behind in items/levels [center][imgext=][/center]

[highlight][center]"To the arena!"[/center][/highlight] [title]Jungle:[/title] [imgext=] [title]Lane:[/title] [imgext=] [title]Explanation:[/title] Starting with the Jungle, you want to grab 3 points in Critical Strike and 1 in Improved Smite. Next take 4% for the improved Attack Speed to stack with your runes, and +6 Armor Pen to also stack with your runes. Then you're going to take +4 Damage against minions and +3 Attack Damage, effectively giving you +7 Attack Damage in the Jungle. In Defense you just want to take +6 Armor to be more durable vs Jungle Creeps. Finally, we want to take the priceless Jungling masteries in the Utility Tree. Improved Ghost, +5% Experience, +30% Buff Duration, and +1 Gold/10 Second to stack with your Heart of Gold/Philosopher's Stones. Laning with Xin is a little different setup. Instead of 4 Points into Attack Speed, we're going to put those 4 points into CDR. Grab an extra +6 MR in Defense because unlike Jungle creeps, champions in lane do magic damage. The utility tree is basically the same, with some points left over to throw into MP5. Other Options: [.]0/9/21: +Armor and +MR, Strength of Spirit, Typical 21 in Utility (Laning) [.]11/0/19: Sunder in Offense Tree Typial up to +MS in Utility (Laning)

[highlight][center]"A Demacian does not retreat."[/center][/highlight] [title]Jungle:[/title] [imgext=] [title]Lane:[/title] [imgext=] [title]Explanation:[/title] The Jungle Runes are pretty standard for a Jungling champion. First off, Attack Speed Marks > Armor Penetration Marks, as most Jungle monsters have ~16 armor. With the Armor Pen Quints and Sunder, you'll already have 16 Armor Penetration. The extra Attack Speed will help to proc your passive more often, making your Jungle a lot safer. The Armor Seals are to make you more durable, and the Magic Resist/Level Glyphs can be swapped with Flat MR, Attack Speed, or CDR, but I prefer MR/Level because it makes you more durable late game and early game you dont have to worry about Magic Damage as you are jungling. Lane Runes are pretty similar, except the Marks and Glyphs are swapped out for Armor Pen and Flat MR. Armor Pen is better vs champions that will obviously have higher Armor amounts than jungle creeps, and Flat MR makes you more tankier in lane than MR/Level Glyphs.

[highlight][center]"Here's a tip, and a spear behind it!"[/center][/highlight] [img=summoners/ghost.png][img=summoners/smite.png] or [img=summoners/ghost.png][img=summoners/ignite.png] or [img=summoners/ghost.png][img=summoners/exhaust.png] [title]Explanation:[/title] For Jungling, Ghost/Smite are just no brainers. You absolutely HAVE to use Smite, and the only other options for your second slot are Ghost or Flash. Flash could be used because Xin has no natural escape mechanism, but Ghost is just too good for ganking and sticking on your target to pass up in my opinion. In Lane, I go for Ghost/Ignite usually if I'm Solo Laning, and Ghost/Exhaust usually if I'm Duo Laning. Ignite will give you crazy burst in a 1v1 situation with E > R > Q > Ignite. Exhaust will give you some extra CC/Utility for your team out of the Duo Lane. - Remember to use Ignite vs champs that have high self-healing such as Swain, Vladimir, Mundo, and Irelia. - Remember to use Exhaust vs auto-attack heavey champs such as Tryndamere, Master Yi, or Ashe. - Remember to use Exhaust vs champs with persistent AoE abilties, such as Fiddlesticks, Kennen, and Morgana.

[highlight][center]"My king commands!"[/center][/highlight] [title][img=skills/xinzhao/p.png] Passive: Tireless Warrior[/title] [number]Xin Zhao is healed for 30-70 points for every 3 attacks that he lands. This amount increases by 5 every 2 levels.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] A great tool for jungling and a pretty good way to sustain yourself in lane also. However, I do not recommend just auto-attacking in lane in order to proc your passive more often. This will push your lane, expose you to ganks, and put you in even more danger than before. Not that this ability procs off of towers and is affected by Ignite/Spirit Visage as it is healing and not Lifesteal. [title][img=skills/xinzhao/q.png] Q: Three Talon Strike[/title] [number]Xin Zhao prepares to unleash a fearsome combo, causing his next 3 standard attacks to deal his attack damage + 15/30/45/60/75 to an enemy target, with the final attack knocking his opponent into the air. Cost: 30 Mana Cooldown: 10[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] After 3 hits he knocked your mom up too. This is your starting Jungling ability and probably your most important tool throughout the game. The damage is great and the CC is good too. Knock-ups are very powerful because they're unaffected by any sort of CC Reduction or Tenacity and are also Uncleansable. Also a good ability in lane, which can be used to steal last hits if pushed to your tower. A good trick to use is to activate Three Talon Strike, attack minions twice, and then dash to your opponent for a quick Knock-Up. This ability also resets your auto-attack timer, use that to get extra hits in or to grab last hits. [title][img=skills/xinzhao/w.png] W: Battle Cry[/title] [number]Passive: Increases Xin Zhao's attack speed by 20/25/30/35/40%. Active: Xin Zhao unleashes a battle cry, increasing his attack speed by double the passive amount for 5 seconds, and causing his standard attacks to reduce all other ability cooldowns by 1 second. Cost: 35 Mana Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This ability has been changed up recently. Instead of being 15/20/25/30/35% and being doubled for 7 seconds then lost during CD, it is now 20/25/30/35/40% and doubled for 5 seconds, but the passive is not lost during CD. Versus champions this was probably a tiny nerf, but in the jungle it was a huge buff. The real trick to using this ability is to know when to activate W to get the extra Attack Speed and to also get the reduced CD. Your typical combo will be E > R > Q > W. However, if you activate Q and W at the same time, you will lose some of its efficiency. This is because Q is not on CD when its being used, so using W after Q goes on CD will actually cut more off of Q's CD. However, there are some times where you dont have that luxury and you need to attack faster ASAP. It's really a judgement call but you should know how to use it both ways. W can also be popped in lane for some auto-attacking to get your Ultimate back quicker. [title][img=skills/xinzhao/e.png] E: Audacious Charge[/title] [number]Xin Zhao charges an enemy unit, dealing 70/110/150/190/230(+.4 AP) damage to all nearby enemies and slowing them by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.7 seconds. Cost: 70 Mana Range 650 Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Radius: 225[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is what makes squishy targets truly fear you. It is almost impossible to kite Xin Zhao, as his dash has a range of 650, easily larger than any Auto-Attack range in the game. This is what is used to start off your E > R > Q > W combo, but can also be used as a farming tool in both the lane and jungle with its AoE damage. [title][img=skills/xinzhao/r.png] R: Crescent Sweep[/title] [number]Xin Zhao unleashes a fierce spear sweep on targets around him, dealing 125/225/325 + 20% of their current health in physical damage. His armor and magic resistance are boosted for 6 seconds by 25 plus 7/10/13 per enemy champion hit. Cost: 100 Mana Cooldown: 75 Radius: 200[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Along with W, Crescent Sweep has seen some changes over the past few patches. It used to be +30/40/50 MR/Armor for 8 seconds, but now it is +25 MR/Armor for 6 seconds + 7/10/13 per enemy hit. This means that at level 1 it is a flat buff to the resistances no matter what, and at levels 2 and 3 you have to hit 2 champions to be slightly above the old values. I like this change as it rewards people who pull off great ultimates vs 3-5 enemies. At level 3, if you hit an entire team, you will be awarded 90 Armor/MR! This ability should always be used at the beginning of combat, as it does damage based on CURRENT HP and not Max HP, and also because you want the +AR/MR while the fight continues. Finally, dont forget that Crescent Sweep is an invaluable tool to quickly clear huge waves with its wide AoE damage.

[highlight][center]"Only actions truly speak."[/center][/highlight] [center][title]Jungle[/title][/center] [center][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][/center] [center][title]Lane[/title][/center] [center][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/e.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/q.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/r.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][imgsmall=skills/xinzhao/w.png][/center] For Jungling, Q first is the best way to go. Use Three Talon Strike right after you attack to reset your auto-attack timer and get a bonus attack in. You want to start off Q > W > Q for high damage against Jungle creeps, but then after that switch over to E as you'll be battling against more champions and with your Madreds/Wriggles will already be jungling plenty fast enough. You also want to make sure you're grabbing your ultimate whenever possible. For lane its basically R > E > Q > W. Now there is a lot of controversy over Q vs E, so lets look at this. Leveling Q gives you per Level: +45 Damage, +1 Sec CC, -0 Sec CD +90 Damage, +0 Sec CC, -0 Sec CD +135 Damage, +0 Sec CC, -0 Sec CD +175 Damage, +0 Sec CC, -0 Sec CD +225 Damage, +0 Sec CC, -0 Sec CD Leveling E gives you per Level: +70 Damage, +20% CC, 16 Sec CD +110 Damage, +5% CC, -1 Sec CD +150 Damage, +5% CC, -1 Sec CD +190 Damage, +5% CC, -1 Sec CD +230 Damage, +5% CC, -1 Sec CD Basically what happens is that, E will give you slightly more damage than Q will, while also leveling up its CC/CD, while Q stays with a flat-rate 1 Second CC and flat-rate 10 second CD. Plus, Q's damage is conditional upon the fact that you can auto-attack them three times, and without a strong slow, thats unlikely to happen.

[highlight][center]"The warrior's spirit is never broken."[/center][/highlight] Jungle Starting Items: [imgsmall=items/vampiric-scepter.png] This is all you need to start off with with the path that I follow. You could start with Cloth + 5 Pots, but with using only the Vampiric Scepter you save 175 Gold on potions. With your runes, masteries, passive, and lifesteal, you will usually never even drop below 50% HP in the jungle the entire game. Jungle Core Items: [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/wriggles-lantern.png][imgsmall=items/heart-of-gold.png][imgsmall=items/heart-of-gold.png][imgsmall=items/the-brutalizer.png] First things first, you need to upgrade that Vampiric Scepter into a Madreds Razor and eventually into a Wriggle's Lantern. With the Wriggle's Lantern changes (proc is now Magical and not Physical but 18% instead of 14% Lifesteal) its a little worse vs jungle creeps but a little better vs champions. This is great for Xin Zhao, as he was already a very fast and sustained jungler who could use the lifesteal in combat. Mercury Treads are non-negotiable, get them every game no matter what. Two Hearts of Gold are the FOTM and I'm not too proud to follow it. 825 Gold for great stats and its always good to have your money making money for you. Finally, the Brutalizer is just so good on Xin Zhao you cant pass it up. Just this one item increases your damage output by so much its incredible. Jungle Final Items: [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/youmuus-ghostblade.png][imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png][imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png][imgsmall=items/the-black-cleaver.png][imgsmall=items/frozen-mallet.png] or [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png] or [imgsmall=items/sunfire-cape.png] Your final items are a product of a lot of upgrading and selling. Upgrade one of your Heart of Golds into a Randuin's Omen, and upgrade your Brutalizer into a Youmou's Ghostblade. Sell one of your Heart of Golds and your Wriggle's only when you need to make room for more final items. This final build will leave you very tanky, but with still enough damage to decimate squishy targets. Runes + Masteries + Ghostblade + Cleaver = a massive 96 Armor Penetration. Your final item can either be a Frozen Mallet for the slow and HP, a Trinity Force for the overall damage, or a Sunfire to protect against physical damage, its really your call. Lane Starting Items: [imgsmall=items/regrowth-pendant.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion.png] There are a few other options to start off with when laning, such as Boots and 3 Pots, Cloth Armor and 5 Pots, or a Dorans Shield. However, I prefer the Regrowth Pendant and 1 Pot because of the crazy regen it gives you, and also because it upgrades into a Philosopher's Stone, one of your core items. Lane Core Items: [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/heart-of-gold.png][imgsmall=items/heart-of-gold.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/the-brutalizer.png] Basically the same as the Jungling Core Items, except with a Philosopher's Stone in place of the Wriggle's Lantern. You could still grab a Wriggle's when you lane, but I wouldn't recommend it as you're ultimately going to sell it anyways plus the minion proc is pretty useless in lane. You could just go for one Heart of Gold and one Philosopher's Stone but you will be very, very squishy early to mid game. Gold/5 items are so powerful that getting 3 of them is definitely worth it. Finally the same rules apply to Mercury Treads/Brutalizer as they do for the jungling build. Lane Final Items: [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png][imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png][imgsmall=items/shurelyas-reverie.png][imgsmall=items/youmuus-ghostblade.png][imgsmall=items/the-black-cleaver.png][imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png] Upgrade your Heart of Gold into a Randuin's Omen, your Philosopher's Stone into a Shurelya's Reverie, and your Brutalizer into a Youmou's Ghostblade. This item is so crucial, it gives you Armor Pen, Attack Damage, Movement Speed, Attack Speed, Critical Strike %, and CDR. Every single piece of it is amazing on Xin Zhao. With this build, you have 38% CDR which compounded with your W is pretty much infinite spells. The tricky thing is that you have 3 Actives to worry about. Use Shurelya's to initiate with your team, Randuin's once in the battle to slow, and Youmou's once you've locked on to your target.

[highlight][center]"Fate has made its choice."[/center][/highlight] My jungle route is one that I learned from Stonewall008. Here is the youtube video as it's better than me trying to explain it. [center][youtube][/youtube][/center] Here's a summary: - Always use your Q right after an auto-attack to reset its timer! - Start at Golems, using your Q and then smiting the first one - Always use W AFTER your 3 Q strikes to reduce the CD of Q as much as possible! - Move to Wraiths, Q the large wraith, then activate W - Move to Wolves and do the same thing with the large wolf - Finish Blue using Q and W then recall - He buys Long Sword, I prefer to buy Boots as it helps your ganks tremendously along with a potion in case I run low - Q/W Golems as they'll have respawned by the way you make your way back there - Dash in to Red with E, use Q/W to finish him off - Clear Wraiths again - Clear Wolves again - You're now Level 5 with level 2 E, Red and Boots, go gank Other Jungling Tips: - Xin isnt the best counter-jungler but he can pull it off, if your opponent ganks top or bottom look to steal their buff on the opposite side - Always remember to ward and to use your Wriggle's ward - Xin can easily solo dragon once he gets his Wriggle's, can do it with Madred's but will need some help - Your ganks are deadly, gank as much as possible BUT dont fall behind on CS either, you need that farm and those items badly - Pass off blue buff during mid and late game to mages that need it much more (you'll have 38% CDR anyways) - Sometimes you can go super aggressive and go Opponent Golems/Opponent Wraiths/Wolves/Blue - Don't push your allies lane when you're covering for them! - Always Smite to deliver the killing blow so it won't get stolen by your opponent, I've included a table also [imgext=] You can alternately go for the typical Blue/Wolves/Wraiths/Red/Golems but I believe you have to start with Cloth Armor +5 pots and it isn't all that faster.

[highlight][center]"I may be outnumbered, but not even the odds can stand against me!"[/center][/highlight] When Laning as Xin Zhao, you're really looking to bide your time until around Level 3. Stay back in your creep wave and grab last hits when you can, and try not to be harassed too badly by a ranged attacker or ranged nukes. Taking a little harass is fine though, because you have your Regrowth Pendant + Passive to regen it back. Once you hit Level 3 the fun starts. E > Q, once they're popped up back off. Once you hit Level 6, it becomes E > R > Q > W, which is some serious damage. Speaking of E > R > Q > W, thats basically your bread and butter throughout the entire game. In team fights, you want to wait for a tank to initiate. Then you want to dash into your target with E, and use R as soon as possible to get the most possible damage out of their Current HP's. You want to hit as many targets as you can, because more targets hit equals more bonus Armor/MR. After that, you want to lock down on a squishy target and make their life hell. Use your W to lower the CD's on your Q/E so you can keep chain CC'ing. Don't forget about your item actives! Assuming Shurelya's = 1, Randuin's = 2, and Youmou's = 3 your typical team fight would go 1 > E > R > 2 > Q > W > 3.

[highlight][center]"Find me an immovable object, and I'll put this question to rest!"[/center][/highlight] So that basically sums up how to play X to the Z in both the jungle and in lane. Take advantage of this guide and head off "to the arena" to dish out some Demacian damage! [center][youtube][/youtube][/center] Thanks to for setting up this amazing interface to create my guides!
