Hello everyone, I would like to present you my guide on how to play Anivia. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/Llv2F.jpg] First of all, I'm an average player playing on EU west at about 1k8 elo. She was the first champion I bought and the first I tried to master. I've always thought she was the best champion to play due to her very rich gameplay, but also her high skill cap. I played more than 300 games with her so I consider her my main, which doesn't mean I'm the best player with her but I think I'm not too bad. At the moment, she is one of the strongest ap carry in the game, as showed froggen in a lot of tournament; when she isn't banned, the game is basically won for CLG.eu. She is game breaker, her wall can totally turn a game in her favour if well used. She also is a great champion for soloQ since you can catch people off guard. To conclude, she is a very fun ap to play, and also one if not the best ap in the game; but still anivia is a very hard champion to master. Pros : [.] Rich gameplay, very fun to play [.] Able to dominate nearly every casters when she got blue [.] Very strong pushing ability [.] High base damage [.] Very strong teamfights [.] Can totally change a game by catching enemies [.] [imgsmall=skills/anivia/p.png] Cons : [.] One if not the hardest champion to master [.] A relatively weak early game [.] Uses a lot of mana

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/uOdZG.jpg] [highlight]Marks[/highlight] : [.] [number]Magicpen[/number] : These are the most viable marks on nearly all ap champions, it allows you to deal true damages to your opponent in early game. [highlight]Seals[/highlight] : [.] Manaregen flat : You will need these runes in order to handle your midlane. You just can't spam your abilities without them, and it gives you the opportunity to play without blue. [.] [number]Manaregen/lvl[/number] : I prefer taking manaregen/lvl seals because they become stronger than flat ones at lvl 7 and you should not be spending too much mana on your lane before your lvl 6. [.] AP/lvl : Take them only if you're 100% sure you will get every blue. I do not recommend them. [highlight]Glyphs[/highlight] : [.] [number]Mr flat[/number] : Really strong in early game, you're starting with 42 magical resistance with them, which allows to take much less damage from the enemy ap carry, especially in combination with your [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] [.] Mana regen flat : Only if you really feel like spending too much mana, however this should not happen if you know how to use your spells correctly. [.] Ap / lvl : An other viable choice if you want a strong lategame. It makes you weaker in early game but stronger in lategame. [highlight]Quintessences[/highlight] : [.] [number]Ms[/number] : Really helpful since anivia is the slowest champion in the game. These are mandatory against skillshots based characters such as [imgsmall=champ/brand.png] or [imgsmall=champ/cassiopeia.png]. [.] Flat AP : Make you extremely powerful in early game, your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] + [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] will be dealing a huge chunk of life.

[title][img=skills/anivia/p.png] Passive: Rebirth[/title] [number]Upon dying, Anivia will revert into an egg. If the egg can survive for six seconds, she is gloriously reborn.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] One of the strongest passives in the game. It is really important in early game, where people are ot always able to kill you within these 6 seconds. It makes you nearly impossible to towerdive, and can help you try some risky trades, for example if you know you could kill your opponent but the ignite would kill you, no problem, the egg is here to save the day ! However, it is not that good in late game when enemies can take you down easily during these 6 seconds, also don't always count it as a second life, this is not a guardian angel ! [title][img=skills/anivia/q.png] Q: Flash Frost[/title] [number]A massive chunk of ice flies toward target location, dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+50% of ability power) damage, slowing movement by 20%, and chilling any enemy it passes through. At the end of its range or if Anivia activates the spell again, the missile detonates, doing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+50% of ability power) magic damage in a small area and stunning units for .75 seconds. Cooldown 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9seconds Cost 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160mana Range 1100[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] A very powerful nuke, which is the base of your early game combo. The stun may not appear really long, 0,75 s is still a lot for a champion who has so much slows. Even though it's not really easy to hit enemies with the flash frost in lanes due to its slowness, you still can manage to place it on lane with some little tricks or when you're slowing down the enemy, and the enemy team can't really take the time to dodge it in late game. I take it at lvl 1 and max it at lvl 8. [title][img=skills/anivia/w.png] W: Crystallize[/title] [number]Anivia summons an impenetrable wall of ice 400 / 500 / 600 / 700 / 800 units wide, blocking all movement. The wall lasts for 5 seconds before it melts. Cooldown 25seconds Cost 70 / 90 / 110 / 130 / 150mana Range 1000[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Without a doubt the strongest ability in the game. It can be used in several situations : catching people in the jungle, splitting up the enemy team etc ... The wall is getting slightly bigger at each level. It also grants you vision on the area. I take it at lvl 4 and max it last. It will not stop canalisations. [title][img=skills/anivia/e.png] E: Frostbite[/title] [number]Anivia blasts her target with a freezing wind, dealing 55 / 85 / 115 / 145 / 175 (+50% of ability power) magic damage. If the target has been chilled, they take double damage. Cooldown 5seconds Cost 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90mana Range 650[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Anivia's basic burst damage ability. Frosbite is dealing about the same amount of damage than flash frost when the target is frozen, but it's much easier to place. When you have 40% CDR, the cooldown is 3s, which makes anivia a great ap in long fights. It's also very good to harass enemies in combination with glacial storm or flash frost before lvl 6. I take this spell at lvl 2 and max it immediately. [title][img=skills/anivia/r.png] R: Glacial Storm[/title] [number]Toggle: Anivia calls forth a driving rain of ice and hail, dealing 80 / 120 / 160 (+25% of ability power) magic damage per second, slowing their movement and attack speed by 20% for 1 seconds, and chilling them. Cooldown 10 seconds Cost 75 / 75 / 75 mana Range 625 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] A very strong ability to push / depush during the laning phase, and a monster AoE in teamfight. You can totaly zone out someone out of the fight with this spell. Even if it costs a lot of mana, you can keep it activated during a whole teamfight when you have blue. Be careful not to burn your whole mana bar by keeping it activated too long in early game. /! Silences stop this spell /! I take a point in glacial frost at lvl 6, 11 and 16.

[highlight]Skill order 1 :[/highlight] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/xo2TE.png] [number]This skill order is the one I use in soloQ.[/number] As for any character, put your points in your ultimate as soon as you can. Maxing [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] after your ultimate on anivia is the most viable choice since it's the most efficient spell to harass. It is also your main damaging spell. Maxing your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] third will give you a very consistent burst in midgame, but this spell is much harder to land on an enemy, that's why you're not maxing it second. At last, put all your points in your wall, getting it at lvl 4 to help when you're getting ganked / when your jungler comes to gank. [number] This is the best choice in soloQ due to the fact you gotta deal damages to carry dem noobs, you're here more for your burst than your utility, even though your wall is very effective against non coordinated enemies. [/number] [highlight] Skill order 2 :[/highlight] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/4npWw.png] [number]This skill order is more team oriented.[/number] You're still getting your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] whenever you can. At lvl 10 and 12, put a point in [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png], you don't need to get more but the wall lvl 3 is helping a lot in coordinated teamfights. Then max your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png]. Finally up your wall to lvl 5. [number] Getting your wall lvl 3 in midgame gives you an awesome control over teamfights, you're dealing less damages but it allows you to have a much better utility.[/number]

Always start with [img=items/boots-of-speed.png] + [img=items/health-potion3.png]. This will give you the sustain you need on midlane and will also help you dodging skillshots. Buy [img=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] and some [img=items/sight-ward.png] at your first back. I didn't use to build chalice on anivia before riot made an upgrade for this item. Since that update, I take it every time, and you should be building it also. It gives you a great mana regen and the mr is a significant help to handle your middle lane. [img=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] can be an alternative to the chalice, I'm explaining why I don't like it in the following section. Buy a [img=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] This item increases greatly your sustain, at this point you should be able to harass your enemy without any problem considering your mana, and if you have blue you can just push every waves by using Glacial Storm + Flashfrost. It also synergizes very well with the chalice. [highlight]Early game build[/highlight] : [img=items/boots-of-speed.png] + [img=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] + [img=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] Upgrade your boots : [img=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] in nearly every games [img=items/mercurys-treads.png] if there is a very high amount of cc in the enemy team or if you really need the bonus mr. Buy your [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] Mandatory on anivia in my opinion. The rod of ages gives you the hp you need to survive in fights, and a decent manapool. You must take it early in the games because it takes 10 minutes to be full. Time for some damages : [img=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] Your core item is finished. If you didn't fail your game, you should build your deathcap at around 30. At this point, anivia is shining, you're able to burst down carries in a matter of seconds and you have a total control over the fights. [highlight] Core build[/highlight] : [img=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] + [img=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] + [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] + [img=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] Upgrade your [img=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] into a [img=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] The grail is also a very important item on Anivia. It gives you everything you would ever need, some CDR which gives you a very good sustained damage with frosbite, a lot of mr, a strong amount of ap and overall a ridiculous mana regen : with runes + [img=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] + [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] you should never have any mana problem, with blue you're like playing without mana actually. You should be entering the late game, so the enemy bruisers are for sure building a lot of mr since they noticed how strong you are. No problem, just purchase your [img=items/void-staff.png] ! You'll be dealing a lot of damage to everyone in the enemy team, and nearly true damages on carries. Finally, buy a [img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png]. I really like to build this item since it's the only one who gives both AP and armor. The active is also very useful and can be used to avoid a lot of spells (vlad's ult, karth's ult etc ...) [highlight]Final build [/highlight]: [img=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] + [img=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] + [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] + [img=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] + [img=items/void-staff.png] + [img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] [highlight]Other ap items[/highlight] [img=items/will-of-the-ancients.png] Even though I don't really like this item since the spell vamp will only proc significantly on your frosbite, you can still build it after your [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] to help you sustaining. [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] A really good item. Take it instead of your void staff if the enemies aren't stacking magic resistance, or if they have a lot of ap damages. You should get over 100 mr with [img=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] + [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] [img=items/moonflair-spellblade.png] This items is clearly not worth his cost and will take one slot. Just don't buy it. [img=items/morellos-evil-tome.png] I don't really like to build this item on anivia, since you would be overcaping CDR with [img=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] + blue buff. You can still choose to buy it instead of the grail [img=items/deathfire-grasp.png] A very good item on every ap carries. Still, it's not that good on anivia since she has sustained damages and, again, you would overcap CDR. Buy it if you're fed. [img=items/haunting-guise.png] A cool item in early game. I prefer [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] over [img=items/haunting-guise.png]. [img=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] Since the slow of this item is useless on anivia (slows stack really badly), [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] is better at any point than rylai. [img=items/mejais-soulstealer.png] You can buy it if you're snowballing since anivia is a really safe champion and you're not supposed to die a lot. [highlight]Defensive items[/highlight] [img=items/shurelyas-reverie.png] This can be a good item if you decided to take [img=items/philosophers-stone.png] in early game. [img=items/warmogs-armor.png] Even though froggen is sometimes building this item on anivia in combination with mejai, I don't recommend it. The fact is, anivia's wall is so strong and froggen plays her so well he could play her without any items and still manage to carry the game. [img=items/banshees-veil.png] A nice item, especially if there is a spell you want to avoid in the enemy team (ashe's arrow for example) and they can't pop your banshee. [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png] A very good item against a composition based on cc, this also counters warwick, malzahar and urgot. Moreover, it isn't really expensive so buy it if you're feeling like you just can't play because of dem CC. [img=items/guardian-angel.png] A good item, 3 lives with your egg. However I'd prefer zhonya over GA if you want some armor.

When playing anivia without any item that gives you mana regen, you're facing a huge issue; it is impossible to keep your mana high enough and even with blue you're lacking some. To get over this, the most viable choice is to take either the [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] or the [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png]. That's why I'm gonna try to show the advantages of each of these items, especially their upgrades, [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] and [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png]. [highlight]Damage output :[/highlight] Using [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png] and a full stacked [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png], you would have 2936 mana at lvl 18, which gives you an additional 88 ap, + the base ap = 133 ap. Conversely, [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] grants you 90 ap, which is a little less, but 15% cdr, which means your spells will be up more often and you will therefore be dealing more dammage over time. [number]Conclusion : [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png] gives you a better burst than the grail, but [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] is more effective as the fight lasts, moreover, this is given that the [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] is fully stacked.[/number] [highlight]Mana regen :[/highlight] At lvl 18 with [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png] and your runes, you basically have 27 mregen/5, 101/5 with blue buff. [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png] gives you 25 mregen/5 but it also allows you to make your blue buff much more effective since it's regenerating a percentage of your mana max, increasing your mana regen by 25/5. You're therefore regenerating [number]151 mana every 5 seconds[/number] with a stacked archangel and blue buff, [number]52/5[/number] without blue buff. [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] grants you 15 mregen/5, at lvl 18 you're gaining [number]116 mana every 5 seconds[/number], but it can go[number] up to 232[/number] when you're oom, [number]42 mana / 5 up to 84[/number] without blue buff. In addition, every time you're you're killing or assisting someone, 12,5% of your manapool is given back. [number]Conclusion : The grail is much more efficient in terms of mana regen, especially in teamfights when your passive procs, but archangel increases your manapool. However, [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] is more powerful if you don't have blue.[/number] [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] also grants you an additional 40 mr which makes you much tankier against these ap carries. [highlight][imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] and [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png] pretty much give the same things, except for the fact the grail grants you an additionnal 40 mr, that's why I'd prefer this item.[/highlight] [highlight] Now let's compare [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] and [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] :[/highlight] At lvl 9 for example, with just [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png], you're gaining [number]24,6 mana every 5 seconds[/number], [number]49,2 when you're OoM[/number] With tear of goddess, you would be only regenerating [number]24,1 mana / 5s[/number], and you need to stack it to get the manapool, which takes at least 20 minutes. Furthermore, [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] gives you 30 mr, lowering your opponent's burst. [number]Conclusion : Chalice of harmony is a much stronger item than tear of the godess, especially in early game.[/number]

[highlight]Thou shall not be aggressive before lvl 6[/highlight] Anivia is a kinda weak champion before lvl 6. Just focus on last hitting and try to land your Q on the enemy from time to time. As soon as you get your [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png], and your lvl 6, you can start harassing your opponents. [highlight] Thou shall harass whenever you can[/highlight] Use your E on the enemy caster whenever he's in range then use Glacial Storm just before Frosbite hits. The target will still receive double damages from your E, but you will be keeping your ultimate active for a slightly shorter time, making this combo very mana cost efficient. [highlight]Thou shall now when your egg is up[/highlight] When you're trying to fight your enemy, always check if your egg is ready, it can save you and cassiopeia will be jelly when your egg is gonna save you from her ignite. [highlight]Thou shall buy wards [/highlight] Don't forget to buy wards, they are mandatory to protect you from getting ganked, spotting the jungler, preventing the enemy ap from going on your side lanes etc ... Put one at your enemy jungler and one in the bush close to the enemy blue buff. By doing this, you can try to catch your opponent, with your jungler if possible by killing him when he's getting blue or farming wraiths. [highlight] Thou shall get blue[/highlight] Having blue is vital on anivia. It allows you to push down a wave in a matter of second and to harass your opponent without having to save your mana. Try to secure it as much a you can, you will need wards more than ever when it's about to spawn, to make sure your enemies don't want to steal it. [highlight]Thou shall farm[/highlight] When your jungler gives you blue, just push down the waves with [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png] + [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] and try to go on other lanes, or farm wraiths by landing [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png] to get the vision, your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] and your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png]. See the following section for detailed match ups. [highlight]Thou shall know who is the enemy jungler[/highlight] Always watch out for the enemy jungler. Against very powerful gankers ([imgsmall=champ/alistar.png], [imgsmall=champ/maokai.png]) you must play really passively at early lvls, you can't do much but staying at your turret if they decide to camp you. Wards are the key against them. Against jungler focused on counter-jungle ([imgsmall=champ/shyvana.png], [imgsmall=champ/drmundo.png]), ward your blue to make sure he's not gonna steal it, and time it. If he comes anyway, call your team to come, having no blue is such a huge problem on anivia.

[img=champ/ahri.png] Ahri : She should not kill you in laning phase, especially before lvl 6. If she is maxing her W, just push her to her tower, she can't really depush lanes. If she's maxing her Q, she can't burst down as long as you don't get hit by her taunt, so just focus on dodging it and let the farmfest begin. [img=champ/annie.png] Annie : She used to be played a lot but she's not played that much now. When facing her, always check if her stun is up or not. If it's not, you can trade with her very easily. As soon as you get [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] + [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] you can survive her burst, so just push her and harass her whenever it's possible. [img=champ/brand.png] Brand : This is, in my opinion, one of the easiest match-up you can play as anivia. You should upgrade your boots faster than you would normally do and focus on dodging his skillshots. When you hit 6, just harass him with E + R and dodge his W, there is not much he can do if you don't get stunned. [img=champ/cassiopeia.png] Cassiopeia : Cassiopeia is a very hard champion to play against. Don't try to trade with her before her lvl 6, that's pointless especially if she's maxing her fang. When you hit 6, you should get the advantage, harass her like you would normally do and try not to get hit by her poisons / ult. The most skilled player will win. [img=champ/fizz.png] Fizz : Fizz is one of anivia's counters. On laning phase, try to harass him as much as you can before he hits lvl 3, after that he will totally dominate you. You should take [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] after your [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png]. With this build, his combo without ultimate shouldn't be dealing too much damage, so just overpush him, he can't depush really easily. Follow him when he tries to decale. He is much less important than you in teamfights, since he has to commit to deal his dammages, and his burst is really based on his ultimate. [img=champ/galio.png] Galio : He should not kill you, neither should you if you don't get a gank. This is just gonna be a farm fest. Your highest problem will be your mana, since you'll be spending much more mana than Galio to depush a lane. Secure your blue buff, if the enemy jungler manages to steal it, your lane is gonna be horrible. [img=champ/gragas.png] Gragas : A pretty hard lane. Try your best to dodge his Q even though it's not that easy due to anivia's low ms, and be careful because his burst at lvl 6 is really high. Still, he can't burst you down if you have [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] + [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png]. Don't stay on lane with less than half hp. At lvl 6, harass him as you would normally do, he can't really fight back if you dodge his Q. Follow him when he's trying to go on other lanes and ward your midlane. Be also about ganks, Gragas is really strong to help his jungler killing you. Your egg won't save you against him because of his really high AD. [img=champ/karthus.png] Karthus : Karthus will usually focus on farming and won't really try to harass you. If he tries, just dodge, it's not that hard. When trading with him, don't get hit by his wall or you will have a bad time, you can't really trade with him with this mr debuff. Again, your egg will be useless against him due to his very high sustained damage, however it can still prevent him to kill you with Requiem. Try to wall him out of the fights. [img=champ/kassadin.png] Kassadin : This is the hardest champion you could be against, he is an anti ap carry, therefore his entire skillset is countering you : [.] He has a 2 seconds silence, which is an eternity for Anivia [.] The said silence also stops your ultimate [.] He can riftwalk over your wall [.] His passive lowers slightly your damage output You can still try to harass him a lot before his lvl 6 with [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] + [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png], but whenever he hits 6 there is absolutely no way for you to kill him if he doesn't play horribly. He will just jump on you, silence you, giving you absolutely no chance to fight back. Try to push him since he can't clean a wave really easily if he doesn't have blue. Ward your midlane to make sure he doesn't kill your mates. He can totally prevent you from playing in teamfights because of this silence, so stay with your team in case he riftwalks on you. If he doesn't get fed in early game it should be ok. [img=champ/kennen.png] Kennen : Kennen is also a beast against anivia due to his high mobility and his strong dammage output. He should be slightly stronger than you in early game, try to hit him with your Q but you will not be able to deny him. When you hit 6, you should try to harass him but care if he dashes on you, stay in your creep wave to make sure his Q doesn't hit you. In teamfights, you should try to wall him out of your squishies. [img=champ/leblanc.png] Leblanc : Leblanc is that kind of hero who is gonna destroy you in early game but will totaly fall off when the game lasts a bit. Just play safe in early game and be careful when she hits 6, her base burst dammage is very high and she can double silence you for a terribly long duration. If you manage not to give her kills, she's gonna be useless very soon. You should consider taking [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] along with your [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] to lower her damage output. [img=champ/malzahar.png] Malzahar : I honestly didn't see him for a long time. You should be able to harass him early, he can only hit you with his E, which is not dealing enough damage to trade with your Q + E. If he's owning you, buy a [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png]. He's gonna be much less effective in teamfights than you. [img=champ/mordekaiser.png] Mordekaiser : You should be dominating this match-up. If you manage to get a fast gank on him, you'll be dominating him all game long. Harass him when his shield is down and don't place yourself in your creep wave, force him to make a choice between harassing you or stacking his shield. At lvl 6, just push lanes and ward his wraiths. Catch him with your jungler when he's killing them. If you start snowballing, he will just be unable to handle your constant harass with E + R. In teamfight, he will usually try to get on your carries, so just wall him off and kill him alone. [highlight]DON'T LET HIM FARM WRAITHS FOR FREE ![/highlight], if he starts outfarming you he will just be snowballing over and over. [img=champ/morgana.png] Morgana : One of the most op character at the moment, especially because of her ultimate. You can't trad with her before your lvl 6, she will usually be pushing the lane anyway since she's one of the strongest champion in teamfights. At lvl 6 she can kill you with one combo, if you get too close to her she will cast her ultimate and use her jail when you're stunned, so don't get nearby. Try to harass her when you're lvl 6, but it will usually end in a farm fest. Follow her when she's ganking other lanes. In teamfight, you should try to wall her to disrupt her ultimate. If you manage to do that, she'll lose her main interest. [img=champ/orianna.png] Orianna : You should be winning this. Since her nerf, her range isn't that good and she can't outdamage you, so you'll be outlaning her at lvl 6, she won't be able to fight back after your combo. Be careful, she will try to harass you with her autoattack in early game because of her passive, punish her with your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] + [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png]. Orianna has a great utility in teamfight but she will be doing significantly less damage than you. [img=champ/ryze.png] Ryze : This is also an easy match-up for anivia. At low lvls, when he jails you to harass you, just stun him and punish him. At lvl 6 he just can't trade with you and won't be able to depush without his ultimate. [img=champ/sion.png] Sion : The laning phase isn't the problem on itself. Sion will usually push all waves with his W and gank other lanes, usually botlane since they are significantly lower lvl. You need to harass him at low lvl, and to push him over and over at lvl 6. You also want to ward both sides of your midlane. If he doesn't get fed, you will be greatly stronger than him in teamfights, since he his burst is really reliant to his shield which is easily breakable. [img=champ/swain.png] Swain : Again, harass Swain before he gets to lvl 6. At lvl 6, you can overharass him and overpush him, making things hard for him. If you want to kill him, don't forget to put your ignite. If he starts snowballing, you may consider buying a [imgsmall=items/morellos-evil-tome.png]. [img=champ/talon.png] Talon : You can harass him with your Flash frost + Frosbite and your autoattacks in very early game, but as soon as he gets his ultimate you just can't trade with him. Wait until he uses his W on your creeps to harass him, his burst is based on this spell. You should be outpushing him, and he's not a very strong champion in mid / late game if he doesn't get fed. Ward your midlane to prevent your mates from getting ganked. [img=champ/twistedfate.png] Twisted fate : An easy match-up for you. You can harass him for free at lvl 6. Just make sure to let your mate know when tf is missing, and overpush him to prevent him from ganking. He will be less effective than you in teamfight since his damages are essentially based on his Q, which can be easily dodged. [img=champ/veigar.png] Veigar : Veigar will usually just farm until his lvl 6. You can harass as much as you want, he won't try to fight back. However, when he gets his ultimate and especially his [imgsmall=items/deathfire-grasp.png] he will be able to take you down in a matter of seconds, so you better ruin him before he gets them. In my opinion, veigar is not a really strong champion in late game, he shines in midgame when he can one shot nearly everyone in your team. In late game he just can't control your bruisers. You should take [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] against him to avoid his Dark matter. [img=champ/viktor.png] Viktor : He is really easy to dominate. He's squishy and his stun is easy to avoid. Before lvl 6, you can harass him, he's not dealing enough dammage to trade with you yet. At lvl 6, you should take care of his ultimate which is dealing a lot of damage. Still, you can trade with him as you would usually do. He doesn't have much control over teamfights since as I said before, his stun isn't really useful. [img=champ/vladimir.png] Vladimir : A rather hard champion to play against. You should play safe on lane since he will outsustain you anyway. You can try harassing him with blue at lvl 6, but don't let him get his hp back. Just push the waves over and over and wait for the teamfights where you should be more useful than him. [img=champ/xerath.png] Xerath : He has a really high burst potential at lvl 6 and he can be really dangerous if his jungler comes to gank. However, if you manage to avoid his spells, you should trade with him easily. When he uses his ability to increase his range, just land your Q on him, he can't dodge it; that's an easy way to harass him in early game. Be careful about his range, he can for example kill you at your turret when he's at your wraiths. His burst decreases as the game lasts. [img=champ/ziggs.png] Ziggs : A fairly easy match-up. At lvl 6, focus on dodging his Q and harass him whenever you can, his burst is 100% skillshots dependant, which makes it easy to avoid.

At this point, you should have your core build or at least your RoA. You are dominating fights with your very high burst. Your main objective in mid game is the drake. Anivia is very good champion to control drake, since you can use your wall either to secure the drake, or catch an enemy. If enemies are already doing it you can sometimes capture them in the area and use your ultimate, damaging them severely. You won't trade a lot with your opponent on lane, you should just push all the waves. While your opponent is trying to depush the lane, get wraiths or start roaming.* When ganking, start using [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png] + [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] and try to land imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] while your enemy is slowed. Chased a bit if necessary. Don't use your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png] before the enemy flashed. At lvl 9, your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png]+[imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png]+[imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] deals 760 damages, let's say 3s in [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png] and 3 autoattacks, it goes up to 1150 damages. The average ezreal lvl 7 with 2x[imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png] has 1100 hp. You're basically killing him within 1 combo, without counting on the help of your mate. That's why trying to decale on anivia is so important. You can also try to steal your opponent's blue, time it when you can and try to ward it before it spawns. When your enemy goes to take it, tell your jungler to come or go alone (a bit risky), and steal it; land [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] and [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] at the same time, dealing more instant damage than any other ap carry (except for veigar), unless the jungler smites it. If you manage to make the ap carry not having his blue buff, your lane is won, you just have to push and farm wraith over and over, he won't have enough mana to outpush you and will be outfarmed.

Anivia is one of the strongest ap carry in late game because of her sustained damage with Frosbite. However, you will be much less useful than your ad carry in late game; so your role will usually be to protect your carry from the bruisers. Your main objective in late game will be Nashor. A good strategy with Anivia is to start nashor knowing enemies saw you and to ward the enemy jungle. Doing this, you can wall the first person to come and kill her apart of the group. When your team is dominating, Anivia is a very strong champion at pushing; not only because she can push down a wave in a matter of seconds, but also because she can prevent the enemy team from defending their turret by placing down [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png] + [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png]. Moreover, when you have blue and you're strong enough not to get dived, you just can't get pushed. All you have to do is placing your ultimate and keep it up all the time, it will depush all lanes even before they come to tower. When killing Nashor, don't forget that he can't get frozen, therefore [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] won't deal double damages, so you'd better just place your glacial storm and zone the enemies with your other spells. [highlight]Do I take baron or inhib ?[/highlight] After winning a teamfight, you're gonna face this question : "Do I take baron or an inhibitor ?". Why don't we have both ? People usually think if they won a fight, the game would be even easier with Nashor, so they nearly always do it. In my opinion, it's better to destroy an inhibitor. This way, enemies will have to depush from times to times, just wait till someone goes to depush and get Nashor !

Anivia is a very strong champion in teamfight, due to her strong sustained damages, her wall and her AoE. You can use your wall either to prevent the enemies from leaving the fight if you know you're gonna win it, or to split up the enemy team, for example by walling their carry out of the fight, making the fight much easier. Use your ultimate on as many targets as you can, but don't replace it too often, it is really good to zone out the enemies, and the squishies just can't stay in your Glacial storm without taking too much damage. Spam your ability whenever they are up, especially your Frosbite whose cooldown is 3 seconds with blue. Always fight with blue if it's possible, since it allows you to keep your ultimate, but also give you the cooldown reduction you need. Try to focus carries, landing your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] on them and your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] if you can come in range, but don't commit too hard or you're gonna get punished. [number]If the carries stay in the back of the fight, just blast their offtanks[/number], your cooldown are short anyway. [number]In lategame fights, your ad carry will be dealing much more damage than you[/number], your role should be to protect him from the offtanks and to burst the enemy carry. If you're getting focused by the bruisers, that's good for you, your carry is free and he will take them down in a second.

Here is a list of champions who synergize well with [imgsmall=champ/anivia.png] : [number]Ad carries :[/number] [img=champ/ashe.png] Ashe : She's good in a composition based on kiting, with all her slows combined with anivia. Her ult works really well with [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png], you can wall someone off when he's stunned after the engage. [number]Supports :[/number] [img=champ/blitzcrank.png] Blitzcrank : You can prevent anyone from escaping by placing a wall after his hook. [number]Toplaner :[/number] [img=champ/kennen.png] Kennen : Some nice aoe dammage in addition with [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png], wrecking the enemy team in early - midgame. He doesn't need blue as an ap carry. [img=champ/vladimir.png] Vladimir : His ult will increase grantly your dammage output. He has some nice sustained damage, making this compo reliable in late game. He also doesn't need blue. [number] Jungler : [/number] [img=champ/skarner.png] Skarner : His ult makes your wall so easy to place. In late game this is a deadly combo if anyone in the enemy team doesn't have [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png]. [img=champ/trundle.png] Trundle : His E combined with your [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png] can disrupt the enemy team.

Anivia's wall is certainly the best ability in the game. The only difference between a good anivia and an excellent anivia is how she uses her wall. You can use it to harass your opponent with a little trick, this is effective especially if you have blue since it costs a lot of mana. Put your wall right behind your enemy then land your Q on the closest side of the wall, you will hit nearly every time, since people would usually try to walk around it. Whenever they come, put a wall like in the previous pictures. In teamfight, you should use crystallize to split up the enemy team, giving your team the advantage by outnumbering your opponents. You can also use it in combination with glacial frost to push enemy inhibitors, block each sides with one of them. It is also very efficient to protect objectives such as drake or nashor, by blocking enemies when they come to contest it.
