Seriously, I'm not doing this all over again. You get the general picture right? If you lack the funds or just happen to have them, [highlight]Greater Mark of Replenishment (+0.26 MP/5 sec) [/highlight]is a nice alternative, allowing you to stay in lane a little longer and support your Mana-Hungry spells. [center]---[/center] [title]Seals:[/title] [imgext=] A lot of the [highlight]Seals[/highlight] are Secondary Runes, meaning they do not offer as much in terms of stats as other runes. This leaves us with very few options, but [highlight]Greater Seal of Clarity (+1.17 MP/5 at level 18)[/highlight] is a nice boost in Mana. For example, comparing the [highlight]Ability Power Quints and Glyphs[/highlight]: [center][imgext=][/center] The [highlight]Scaling[/highlight] version of the [highlight]Quintessence[/highlight] reaches the value for the Flat rune at [highlight]level 11 - 12[/highlight] (Simply 4.95 / 0.43). The [highlight]Scaling[/highlight] version of the [highlight]Glyph[/highlight] reaches the value for the Flat rune at [highlight]level 7 [/highlight](Simply 1.19 / 0.17). From this, we can see that the [highlight]AP per Level Glyph[/highlight] is better than the [highlight]AP per Level Quintessence[/highlight] in terms of value for rune type.

AP Kog'Maw is incredibly powerful in the right hands. Let's look at Kog'Maw's strengths and weaknesses: [title]Advantages:[/title] [.] Insane poking ability. [.] Tons of Damage damage without investing too much money in AP [.] Absolute beast if you build a team around him. [.] Strong farming abilities, rake in that cash. [.] Amazing teamfight ability Mid-Late Game [.] [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] provides sight of Primary Objectives such as Baron or Dragon every second. This is especially useful when when enemy has Pinks / Oracles and you cannot ward the area. [highlight]BONUS:[/highlight] An advantage when playing AP Kog'Maw in Draft is that it opens up your Bottom lane to counterpick! Why? Let's draw a scenario where you're in Champion Select and your enemy team picks Kog'Maw. AP Kog'Maw is [highlight]relatively rare[/highlight], so your team will [highlight]automatically assume it is AD Kog'Maw[/highlight]. You go for a Kill Lane as AD Kog'Maw is susceptible to say, Graves + Leona. Then you glance over to the other team, they pick Sivir + Taric, and you crap yourselves. WTF? Your team says. "Looks like they got double AD, let's pick Rammus". Game ends. Your team is covered in acid. Armour didn't do squat. You lost to AP Kog'Maw which you didn't even know existed. GG. To further enhance this effect, you can scroll through the AD carries, and then have Kog'Maw as your pick. TLDR; Allows your Bottom Lane to Counterpick due to a [highlight]'false pick'[/highlight]. [title]Disadvantages:[/title] [.] Highly reliant on a team with [highlight]CC or a tank.[/highlight] (Mid-Wall) [.] No inbuilt escapes - Makes him vulnerable to champions with multiple gap closers when both summoners are down. [.] Requires [highlight]good aiming[/highlight] and [highlight]movement prediction[/highlight]. [.] Lacks Hard CC.

I believe that my build works amazing with AP Kog'Maw simply because the Base Values of his ultimate (On Champions, 180/270/360) greatly overshadows its poor AP Ratios (0.3 per AP). So instead of stacking AP and relying on the 0.3 ratio, we focus on the [highlight]high Base Values[/highlight] and stack Mana + Mana Regeneration and add in a bit of CDR in order to make it spammable. Pure AP Kog'Maw will be doing a bonus ~15% per hit BUT will [highlight]run out of Mana much quicker[/highlight], rendering him useless. Mana-Regen Kog'Maw will be able to spam his ultimate indefinetely and will always be of value to the team.

[imgext=] I personally agree with [highlight]Reign of Gaming's [/highlight]tier lists, and this is no exception. As of June the 21st, 2012; AP Kog'Maw is currently placed [highlight]at the Top of Tier 2[/highlight] (out of 4 tiers, where Karthus is placed at the top and Heimerdinger is placed at the bottom). [center]---[/center] [imgext=] More of a safe pick rather than a hard counter pick, I can see why Kog'Maw is placed in Tier 2. Most AP Mids will hit a power spike at level 4, while Kog'Maw generally stays flat in damage until level 6. Levels 1 - 5 are where Kog'Maw is most at risk, as you'll actually need to get in close and last hit. Try to play passively in this stage, trying to freeze the lane just out of range of your tower for safer farming. You really want to get the last hit on the [highlight]Siege Minion[/highlight] now that most of the gold has been shifted to them in Season 3. [highlight]Farming with Skills:[/highlight] [title]Level 5 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Level 3):[/title] Here, you'll be able to clear Caster Minions through [highlight]Two Autoattacks and One [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png][/highlight]. [highlight]Method:[/highlight] Hit each Caster Minion twice, shoot your E such that it hits them all. Bonus points if you hit the Enemy Champion as well. [title]Level 6 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Level 3, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] Level 1):[/title] Here, you'll be able to clear Caster Minions, but from a much safer distance through [highlight]One [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] and two [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png].[/highlight]. This method of farming is much more effective due to the fact that Level 1 Living Artillery and Void Ooze have almost the same range. So basically, you'll be able to farm from tower. You mad, Kill laners?[imgext=] [highlight]Method:[/highlight] Hit the Caster Minion with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] once. Wait for the Mana Cost timer to go down (6 seconds). Hit the Melee Minions with[imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] (they should already be around 50% HP from your minions attacking) and then shoot a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] such that it hits all the minions. 90% of the time this should result in you getting ALL the CS, and this is from 1000 range too! I would generally advise against using [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] to harass, as you won't have the Mana Regen to support it yet. However if your jungler comes in for a gank, you have a guaranteed hit, or you have Blue Buff, go for it. [title]Level 7 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Level 4, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] Level 1):[/title] Now, you'll be able to clear Caster Minions with just one [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and one [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png]. Congratulations! Now you can farm with no effort :D

[highlight]Playstyle:[/highlight] Short bursts of Aggression By now, you should have a [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] for Spammability, and [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] for Utility. [highlight]Now you should be able to Bully your Lane[/highlight] by harassing every [highlight]6 seconds[/highlight] (prevent mana stack) with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png]. If you land a hit, keep chaining your ultimate as the slow will make it much easier. If [highlight]Your Jungler[/highlight] has any form of hard CC, you should ask for a gank around this point as it will ensure you land [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and then follow up with a well-placed [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] in the enemy's shortest path to safety in order to effectively shut them down.

[highlight]Playstyle:[/highlight] Siege Tower This is where Kog'Maw absolutely shines. With an almost infinite pool of mana, his spammable poking ability is unparalleled, making it [highlight]difficult for enemies to take ANY Objective[/highlight], whether it be Towers, Dragon or Baron if you're there poking at them constantly. You really DO NOT want to get caught out, because if they lay a finger on you, you'll explode (well this is kind of slowed down with the introduction of [imgsmall=items/seraphs-embrace.png] :D)

(WILL ADD PICTURES) In terms of ganks, Kog'Maw's ganks are strong when ganking for a team mate with good CC, otherwise they are quite poor. One nice aspect to Kog'Maw's ganks is that most people will run along their Lane Brush upon being ganked. Thankfully, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] completely prevents them from hiding and allows your team to have the [highlight]Vision Advantage.[/highlight] Initate a gank with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png], by shooting perpendicular to the enemy's escape path, OR shooting it in line with the most obvious escape path to provide a longer slow. Follow up with your and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/q.png] and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] hopefully the gank was successful.

[highlight]Pre-Team Fights:[/highlight] This is where everyone is running around, waiting for a good initiation. This is where you dominate, but also where you are at high risk. At this stage, you want to be slightly conservative with your Mana as you will need it for the fight, this means that you will avoid reaching to 200 Mana cost by waiting 6 seconds every few shots. You are at risk because the other team has probably realised that you are a Glass Cannon, your teams Primary Magic Damage dealer, and are looking to initiate on you. Try and be aware of what type of Initiation the enemy team has. For example, if the enemy team has [imgsmall=champ/ashe.png], she will probably be looking to use her Arrow on you. Avoid this by asking your team mates or tank to stand nearby and take the arrow. Your Goal here is to focus one person, specifically their Squishies and KEEP POKING THEM. If you manage to chain a few 's you will force them to Recall or Stay and risk fighting while low. You have now effectively allowed for a 5v4 fight. [highlight]Team Fights:[/highlight] In a team with good CC, Kog'Maw will absolutely destroy the enemy team. You must have good positioning in order to be a successful Kog player, stay faaaaar away from the battle and try to get off as many hits as you can. In late game, your priority is the enemy AD carry and their AP carry since they will usually have the Mobility and Damage to destroy you. Next is either the Jungler or Support, depending on how valuable their kit is. The enemy bruiser or tank should be left last, for obvious reasons.

[center][highlight]Tip[/highlight][/center] [title]Learn AD Kog'Maw:[/title] If you're first pick in a Ranked Game and decide to go AP Kog'Maw as a safe pick, they might happen to pick a Counter Pick without knowing it. In this scenario it's easy to just switch to actual AD Kog'Maw. It's good to have a flexible champion. [center][highlight]Tip[/highlight][/center] [title][imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] usage when clearing Camps:[/title] During Early-Mid game, or when you're just trying to save mana, remember that [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] is only worth using on Camps at a [highlight]maximum of 2 stacks[/highlight]. You're better off using [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] twice as well as your other skills, and wait for the Duration to end to reset the Mana Cost. [center]---[/center] [center][highlight]Basic[/highlight][/center] [title]Check brushes with your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png]:[/title] Remember, it is a spammable spell that provides sight in a radius! Get rid of those pesky brush-dwelling Garens. The idea places to aim are the two edges of the brush, where people most commonly hide. Keep in mind that [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] has a 0.6 second delay, and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] has a delay of actually getting to the target. We can actually use this delay to our advantage. A [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png], rapidly followed by a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] ensures that the two skills hit at the same time for a nice chunk of the enemy's HP. This also paves the way for the rest of your skills if this successfully lands during the laning phase due to the slow from [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png]. [center]---[/center] [center][highlight]Advanced[/highlight][/center] [title]During lane phase, [highlight]use the Wraiths as a ward![/highlight][/title] You heard me correctly. By landing a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] on the Wraith Camp, you'll apply the Sight buff to each Wraith, providing you a nice area of sight made by the wraiths as they walk towards you. [youtube][/youtube] As you can see, you have the choice of checking the Upper Area or the Lower Brush for enemies. This is simply done my manipulating the Wraith pathing by walking Up or Down (similar concept to the Superman Leash from Season 1-2.
