[title]Starting Items:[/title] [.] Option 1 (vs Skillshot-reliant Enemy or Strong Ganking Jungler) : + (455) [.] Option 2 (Standard Lane) : + + (475) Explanation: [.] [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion3.png] was the standard in Season 2. However with the changes to MS distribution, it is now merely a situational start against Skillshot-Reliant champions. ([imgsmall=champ/brand.png], [imgsmall=champ/cassiopeia.png], etc.) [.] [imgsmall=items/crystalline-flask.png][imgsmall=items/faerie-charm.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion2.png] is a very gold-efficient start for AP Kog'Maw. It also forces a passive farming lane until the heal becomes negligible at around level 6, which is perfect. [.] [imgsmall=items/crystalline-flask.png] pays itself off after 4 uses (Gain 3 Charges per Recall)

[title]Early Game:[/title] CORE: + (1050) Situational (Pick One): [.] Option 1 ([imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png] Route) (vs Gap Closers / Strong Initate) : [.] Option 2 ([imgsmall=items/morellonomicon.png] Route) (Gold Efficient Route / vs Heals) : [.] Option 3 (Pubstomp Route / vs no Strong Initiate + no Sustain / Heals) : Explanation: [.] [imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png] : With the nerf to Lane-Gold, this became a tad more useful. The main reason that we buy this is that it turns into [imgsmall=items/eleisas-miracle.png] and allows us to have more HP and MP regen without taking a slot! (See the Passive) [.] [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] : Flat HP? Good. Flat MP? Good. Sustaining Passive? Even Better. Turns into [imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png]? Sign me up. [.] [imgsmall=items/kages-lucky-pick.png] : The main reason this became an option again was the Build Path. Look at Mid Game below for explanation. [.] [imgsmall=items/haunting-guise.png] : Such a strong item on Kog'Maw. It offers much needed HP and Magic Penetration. Magic Pen is a very strong stat on AP Kog'maw because it directly amplifies the damage from your Primary Spell, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png], which is better than buying flat AP. It also synergises amazingly with [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]. [title]Your Inventory:[/title] [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png]        OR        [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/kages-lucky-pick.png]        OR        [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png]         (and [imgsmall=items/crystalline-flask.png] if you started)

[title]Mid Game:[/title] CORE: + + (4350) Buy ONE AFTER CORE (excluding if you bought [imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png]): [.] If you bought [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] : OR (Explained Below) [.] If you bought [imgsmall=items/kages-lucky-pick.png] :   Situational: [.] Option 1 (Balanced Teams) : [.] Option 2 (Need Strong Disengage) : Explanation: [.] [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] : Simply the best choice of boots for AP Kog'Maw. The reason we don't take Ionian Boots is that you'll be passing 40% CDR with full items. [.] [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] : The 3% MP Passive from [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png] isn't noticeable until late game, therefore we leave it at Tear instead of upgrading it for now, as the Stacks carry over. By doing this, you are efficiently using your gold until the purchase of [imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png] becomes worth the spend (When you get a larger Mana Pool). [.] [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] : We take this before AP Items due to the fact that this allows for SO MUCH MORE UTILITY! This is an incredible item on Kog'Maw and causes your Kill Potential to skyrocket.   [.] [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] : Buy this when you're against a AP Mid. Offers a generous amount of Mana Regen which is what we need for sustain. The Magic Resist comes in very handy since you'll most likely be against an AP champion. [.] [imgsmall=items/fiendish-codex.png] : In the rare occasion that you're against an AD Mid such as [imgsmall=champ/talon.png], the Magic Resist from [imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png] becomes useless, so this becomes the better choice. [.] [imgsmall=items/morellonomicon.png] : This item synergises amazingly with AP Kog'Maw's playstyle and any End Game item that builds from a GP5 is amazing.   [.] [imgsmall=items/enchantment-distortion.png] : Buy AFTER [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png]. VERY NICE upgrade as Kog'maw uses BOTH Flash and Ghost (making Full use of the Passive). This means that your escape potential has just gone through the roof and makes it extremely difficult to gank you in lane.   [.] [imgsmall=items/enchantment-captain.png] : Buy DURING TEAMFIGHT STAGE (Towers down, teams roaming). The way I see it is that this item is strong for 2 Kinds of Roles; Hard Engagers (To allow your team to follow up) and Back Line Carries (To allow your team to disengage). This works extremely well with AP Kog'Maw because both parts of the passive are built for Siegers / Poke Champions. You'll want to poke enemies down, have your team dive them and then allow them to disengage with an 8% Speed boost just because you're there in the back line. The 25% speed boost to allied minions allows you to constantly pressure their towers too. One very good example is if [imgsmall=champ/gangplank.png] Ults ontop of your team. It is a very bad idea to give the enemy team the Positioning Advantage so this will allow you to back off and then immediately re-engage while off the AoE. [title]Your Inventory:[/title] [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png][imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png][imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png][imgsmall=items/chalice-of-harmony.png]        OR        [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/kages-lucky-pick.png][imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png][imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] -> [imgsmall=items/morellonomicon.png]]        OR        [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/philosophers-stone.png][imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png][imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png][imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]         (and [imgsmall=items/crystalline-flask.png] if you started) With : [imgsmall=items/enchantment-distortion.png] AFTER [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png]        OR        [imgsmall=items/enchantment-captain.png] DURING TEAMFIGHTS

[title]Late Game:[/title] CORE: <---- BUY BEFORE LEVEL 16 + + ([imgsmall=items/archangels-staff.png]) + [.] If you bought [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] : Buy when Teamfights Break Out Explanation: [.] [imgsmall=items/eleisas-miracle.png] : BUY THIS BEFORE LEVEL 16. If this stays in your inventory for 3 levels, you will gain the Bonuses from this Item as a Passive and it will disappear. Translation = Free Regeneration without Taking any Slots for only 400 gold! [.] [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] : The nerf hit other AP Carries alot more than it hit AP Kog'Maw :). It still provides unparalleled Utility and Mana Regen. [.] [imgsmall=items/seraphs-embrace.png] : You know those situations where you'd rather have more HP than MP? This solves it. A really nice Active since we'll have XXXX amount of MP by this point, meaning we will be able to have a XXXX shield! [.] [imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] : With the Penetration Changes in Season 3, this item is stronger than ever! A nice final buy because at this point, the enemy will actually have MR. [title]Your Inventory:[/title] [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png][imgsmall=items/seraphs-embrace.png][imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png][imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png][imgsmall=items/void-staff.png]        OR        [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/morellonomicon.png][imgsmall=items/seraphs-embrace.png][imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png][imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png][imgsmall=items/void-staff.png]        OR        [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png][imgsmall=items/seraphs-embrace.png][imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png][imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png][imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] With : [imgsmall=items/enchantment-captain.png] OR [imgsmall=items/enchantment-distortion.png] Passive : [imgsmall=items/eleisas-miracle.png]

Starting Items: [imgsmall=items/kages-lucky-pick.png][imgsmall=items/faerie-charm.png][imgsmall=items/null-magic-mantle.png] > > > > > > > > Explanation: [.] [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png][imgsmall=items/enchantment-captain.png] : Always Sorc Shoes. We take [imgsmall=items/enchantment-captain.png] because you'll always be around your team-mates, meaning you take full use of the Passive. The MS boost is vital in allowing your team to dodge the poke (Provided they walk towards you). [.] [imgsmall=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] : Incredibly strong on this Map as the Passive will be refreshing your Mana constantly off kills and assists. [.] [imgsmall=items/morellonomicon.png] : A very nice item to counter Heal Baits / Last second Heals which is very common on this map. Your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] should be constantly applying Grievous Wounds as you poke, allowing you to slowly chunk the enemy's HP, which is amazing since they are unable to Recall. [.] [imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png] : While it may not be of full use in SR, this item is extremely powerful in Proving Grounds. Sustained DoT poke is Incredible on this Map. [.] [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] : Allows you to chain hits with your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and has great Synergy with [imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png]. [.] [imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] : By now they'll have enough MR to make this a very nice buy.

Seriously, I'm not doing this all over again. You get the general picture right? The Top 5 Picks from each Rune: [title]Marks:[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/rzdWQ.png] Marks really lack variety for AP Characters. The standout choice is the Greater Mark of Insight (+0.95 Magic Pen) as it combines well with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/q.png] to completely bypass the Enemy's Magic Resist. If you lack the funds or just happen to have them, Greater Mark of Replenishment (+0.26 MP/5 sec) is a nice alternative, allowing you to stay in lane a little longer and support your Mana-Hungry spells. --- [title]Seals:[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/aMUcP.png] A lot of the Seals are Secondary Runes, meaning they do not offer as much in terms of stats as other runes. This leaves us with very few options, but Greater Seal of Clarity (+1.17 MP/5 at level 18) is a nice boost in Mana. --- [title]Glyphs:[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/Au6Zj.png] Glyphs have the best options for AP Champions as they cater for almost any scenario. --- [title]Quintessences:[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/lRlK4.png] Quintessences are unusual in the fact that the most of the Scaling Stats that it offers (e.g. Ability per Level) offer much poorer values and take longer to reach the equivalent of the Flat Stat rune. For example, comparing the Ability Power Quints and Glyphs: [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/EfaQF.png] The Scaling version of the Quintessence reaches the value for the Flat rune at level 11 - 12 (Simply 4.95 / 0.43). The Scaling version of the Glyph reaches the value for the Flat rune at level 7 (Simply 1.19 / 0.17). From this, we can see that the AP per Level Glyph is better than the AP per Level Quintessence in terms of value for rune type.

AP Kog'Maw is incredibly powerful in the right hands. Let's look at Kog'Maw's strengths and weaknesses: [title]Advantages:[/title] [.] Insane poking ability. [.] Tons of Damage damage without investing too much money in AP [.] Absolute beast if you build a team around him. [.] Strong farming abilities, rake in that cash. [.] Amazing teamfight ability Mid-Late Game [.] [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] provides sight of Primary Objectives such as Baron or Dragon every second. This is especially useful when when enemy has Pinks / Oracles and you cannot ward the area. BONUS: An advantage when playing AP Kog'Maw in Draft is that it opens up your Bottom lane to counterpick! Why? Let's draw a scenario where you're in Champion Select and your enemy team picks Kog'Maw. AP Kog'Maw is relatively rare, so your team will automatically assume it is AD Kog'Maw. You go for a Kill Lane as AD Kog'Maw is susceptible to say, Graves + Leona. Then you glance over to the other team, they pick Sivir + Taric, and you crap yourselves. WTF? Your team says. "Looks like they got double AD, let's pick Rammus". Game ends. Your team is covered in acid. Armour didn't do squat. You lost to AP Kog'Maw which you didn't even know existed. GG. To further enhance this effect, you can scroll through the AD carries, and then have Kog'Maw as your pick. TLDR; Allows your Bottom Lane to Counterpick due to a 'false pick'. [title]Disadvantages:[/title] [.] Highly reliant on a team with CC or a tank. (Mid-Wall) [.] No inbuilt escapes - Makes him vulnerable to champions with multiple gap closers when both summoners are down. [.] Requires good aiming and movement prediction. [.] Lacks Hard CC.

I believe that my build works amazing with AP Kog'Maw simply because the Base Values of his ultimate (On Champions, 180/270/360) greatly overshadows its poor AP Ratios (0.3 per AP). So instead of stacking AP and relying on the 0.3 ratio, we focus on the high Base Values and stack Mana + Mana Regeneration and add in a bit of CDR in order to make it spammable. Pure AP Kog'Maw will be doing a bonus ~15% per hit BUT will run out of Mana much quicker, rendering him useless. Mana-Regen Kog'Maw will be able to spam his ultimate indefinetely and will always be of value to the team.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/eXrlL.png] I personally agree with Reign of Gaming's tier lists, and this is no exception. As of June the 21st, 2012; AP Kog'Maw is currently placed at the Top of Tier 2 (out of 4 tiers, where Karthus is placed at the top and Heimerdinger is placed at the bottom). --- [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/AtXMH.png] More of a safe pick rather than a hard counter pick, I can see why Kog'Maw is placed in Tier 2. If you want to read more, I suggest you check out Reign of Gaming's site! http://www.reignofgaming.net/tier-lists/competitive-tier-list/ability-power-champions

[title] Passive: Icathian Surprise[/title] [number]Upon dying, Kog'Maw starts a chain reaction in his body which causes him to move faster and detonate after 4 seconds; dealing 100 + (25 x lvl) true damage to surrounding enemies.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] [.] Not a great passive as it requires you to die... [.] Due to it's scaling, it is technically strongest at Level 1. This makes invading with Kog'Maw powerful, due to two Massive AoE damaging spells at level 1 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/p.png] + [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png]) [.] Since it is strongest in early game, most of the time you should get off with a cheap kill, or at least pop the enemies flash. [title]Tips:[/title] [.] People will almost always try to Juke this out by going in one direction and then rapidly changing before the duration ends (They won't run in a straight line unless they are stupid, because of your MS boost). [.] DO NOT right click the Enemy Champion to follow them. This will result in a juke most of the time. [.] Instead, click the ground next to them until you actually blow up. [title] Q: Caustic Spittle[/title] [number]Passive: Increases attack speed by 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30% Active: Kog'Maw launches a corrosive projectile which deals 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+70% of ability power) magic damage and reduces the target's magic resist and armor by 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 for 4 seconds. Cost 60 mana Range 625 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] [.] Allows you to secure Last Hits on the Siege minions. You definitely want that extra gold it offers. [.] The Passive Attack Speed allows you to push your Lane more easily. You want to push your lane to the Enemy tower when they Recall in order to Prevent your Enemy gaining the EXP and Gold. [.] Due to the Resistance Reduction it offers. You want to start your combos with this for the extra damage. [.] If you really want to trade in the Lane Phase before level 6, try the '[imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/q.png] > Attack > [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] > Attack > Back Off' combo in order to maximise the damage you deal and minimise the damage you take. [.] If you are forced to fight in close range, the ideal combo is: [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/q.png] + [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] > [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] > [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] > Kite backwards in line with your Slow Trail > [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] etc. [title] W: Bio-Arcane Barrage[/title] [number]Kog'Maw's attacks gain 130 / 150 / 170 / 190 / 210 range and deal an additional 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6% (+1% of ability power) of the target's maximum Health as Magic Damage (Max: 100 Damage vs Monsters). Lasts 8 seconds. Cooldown 17 seconds Cost 50 mana Range 530 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] [.] Strong on both AP and AD Kog'Maw. [.] Come late game, you'll be Autoattacking for around 5% of the Target's Max Health when including resistances; this is a strong AA for an AP Character. [.] [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] + [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] allows you to farm from a great range in Early Game if your enemy is trying to Deny. [.] Can be used as a finisher. There are many times where I would've taken the risk of a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] finishing shot on an enemy running with very low HP, but instead by popping [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png], you don't take the risk of missing the vital finishing shot. Since Kog'Maw has a natural 500 range, the total range of Kog'Maw with this Passive is 630, 650, 670, 690, 710. This extra 20 range per level is not worth the points, so we max this Last. [title] E: Void Ooze[/title] [number]Kog'Maw launches ooze which deals 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+70% of ability power) magic damage to enemies it passes through. Additionally, it leaves a trail which slows enemies by 28 / 36 / 44 / 52 / 60% for 4 seconds. Cost 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120mana Range 1000[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] [.] AMAZING SKILL on AP Kog'Maw as the 28 - 60% slow synchronizes with his need to Kite Enemies. [.] Very Long Range (1000) and Moderate Damage. [.] Allows for Easy Farming. [.] While farming, try to line the minions up with the Enemy AP in order to get a free hit. All damage adds up and you will eventually force them to Recall. [.] I cannot express the value of this spell in Teamfights. [title] R: Living Artillery[/title] [number]Kog'Maw fires artillery from a great distance. After a short delay, the artillery falls dealing 80 / 120 / 160 (+50% of ability power +50% of attack damage) magic damage and reveals targets for 4 seconds (deals 225% damage to Champions). Each subsequent Living Artillery in the next 6 seconds costs 40 additional mana (Max 400).[/number] Cost 40 mana Range 1400 / 1700 / 2200 [title]Explanation:[/title] [.] Your Bread and Butter, the skill that defines AP Kog'Maw. [.] At 1,400 - 2,200 range, your enemies won't know what hit them. [.] As stated before, due to the low AP ratios and high Base Values, we'll be focusing on CDR and Mana Regen. [.] A [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] is bought to Chain Hits for massive damage. --- [title]Smartcasting:[/title] This is personal preference, but I like to have [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/q.png](Q) and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png](R) smartcasted in order to save time! Watch this video for a good idea of how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1-evWKQYlY This is highly advised once you get used to Kog'Maw's range!

Playstyle: Passive Farming You generally don't want to trade hits with Kog'Maw as you'll come out the loser most of the time. Most AP Mids will hit a power spike at level 4, while Kog'Maw generally stays flat in damage until level 6. Levels 1 - 5 are where Kog'Maw is most at risk, as you'll actually need to get in close and last hit. Try to play passively in this stage, trying to freeze the lane just out of range of your tower for safer farming. You really want to get the last hit on the Siege Minion now that most of the gold has been shifted to them in Season 3. Farming with Skills: [title]Level 5 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Level 3):[/title] Here, you'll be able to clear Caster Minions through Two Autoattacks and One [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png]. Method: Hit each Caster Minion twice, shoot your E such that it hits them all. Bonus points if you hit the Enemy Champion as well. [title]Level 6 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Level 3, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] Level 1):[/title] Here, you'll be able to clear Caster Minions, but from a much safer distance through One [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] and two [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png].. This method of farming is much more effective due to the fact that Level 1 Living Artillery and Void Ooze have almost the same range. So basically, you'll be able to farm from tower. You mad, Kill laners?[imgext=http://cache.ohinternet.com/images/thumb/2/28/Transparent_Trollface2.png/120px-Transparent_Trollface2.png] Method: Hit the Caster Minion with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] once. Wait for the Mana Cost timer to go down (6 seconds). Hit the Melee Minions with[imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] (they should already be around 50% HP from your minions attacking) and then shoot a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] such that it hits all the minions. 90% of the time this should result in you getting ALL the CS, and this is from 1000 range too! I would generally advise against using [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] to harass, as you won't have the Mana Regen to support it yet. However if your jungler comes in for a gank, you have a guaranteed hit, or you have Blue Buff, go for it. [title]Level 7 ([imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Level 4, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] Level 1):[/title] Now, you'll be able to clear Caster Minions with just one [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and one [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png]. Congratulations! Now you can farm with no effort :D

Playstyle: Short bursts of Aggression By now, you should have a [imgsmall=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] for Spammability, and [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] for Utility. Now you should be able to Bully your Lane by harassing every 6 seconds (prevent mana stack) with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png]. If you land a hit, keep chaining your ultimate as the slow will make it much easier. If Your Jungler has any form of hard CC, you should ask for a gank around this point as it will ensure you land [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] and then follow up with a well-placed [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] in the enemy's shortest path to safety in order to effectively shut them down.

Playstyle: Siege Tower This is where Kog'Maw absolutely shines. With an almost infinite pool of mana, his spammable poking ability is unparalleled, making it difficult for enemies to take ANY Objective, whether it be Towers, Dragon or Baron if you're there poking at them constantly. You really DO NOT want to get caught out, because if they lay a finger on you, you'll explode (well this is kind of slowed down with the introduction of [imgsmall=items/seraphs-embrace.png] :D)

(WILL ADD PICTURES) In terms of ganks, Kog'Maw's ganks are strong when ganking for a team mate with good CC, otherwise they are quite poor. One nice aspect to Kog'Maw's ganks is that most people will run along their Lane Brush upon being ganked. Thankfully, [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] completely prevents them from hiding and allows your team to have the Vision Advantage. Initate a gank with [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png], by shooting perpendicular to the enemy's escape path, OR shooting it in line with the most obvious escape path to provide a longer slow. Follow up with your and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/q.png] and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/w.png] hopefully the gank was successful.

Pre-Team Fights: This is where everyone is running around, waiting for a good initiation. This is where you dominate, but also where you are at high risk. At this stage, you want to be slightly conservative with your Mana as you will need it for the fight, this means that you will avoid reaching to 200 Mana cost by waiting 6 seconds every few shots. You are at risk because the other team has probably realised that you are a Glass Cannon, your teams Primary Magic Damage dealer, and are looking to initiate on you. Try and be aware of what type of Initiation the enemy team has. For example, if the enemy team has [imgsmall=champ/ashe.png], she will probably be looking to use her Arrow on you. Avoid this by asking your team mates or tank to stand nearby and take the arrow. Your Goal here is to focus one person, specifically their Squishies and KEEP POKING THEM. If you manage to chain a few 's you will force them to Recall or Stay and risk fighting while low. You have now effectively allowed for a 5v4 fight. Team Fights: In a team with good CC, Kog'Maw will absolutely destroy the enemy team. You must have good positioning in order to be a successful Kog player, stay faaaaar away from the battle and try to get off as many hits as you can. In late game, your priority is the enemy AD carry and their AP carry since they will usually have the Mobility and Damage to destroy you. Next is either the Jungler or Support, depending on how valuable their kit is. The enemy bruiser or tank should be left last, for obvious reasons.

Tip [title]Learn AD Kog'Maw:[/title] If you're first pick in a Ranked Game and decide to go AP Kog'Maw as a safe pick, they might happen to pick a Counter Pick without knowing it. In this scenario it's easy to just switch to actual AD Kog'Maw. It's good to have a flexible champion. Tip [title][imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] usage when clearing Camps:[/title] During Early-Mid game, or when you're just trying to save mana, remember that [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] is only worth using on Camps at a maximum of 2 stacks. You're better off using [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] twice as well as your other skills, and wait for the Duration to end to reset the Mana Cost. --- Basic [title]Check brushes with your [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png]:[/title] Remember, it is a spammable spell that provides sight in a radius! Get rid of those pesky brush-dwelling Garens. The idea places to aim are the two edges of the brush, where people most commonly hide. --- Intermediate [title][imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] + [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] Burst Combo:[/title] For Baron / Dragon steals, Champion kills, anything. Keep in mind that [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] has a 0.6 second delay, and [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] has a delay of actually getting to the target. We can actually use this delay to our advantage. A [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png], rapidly followed by a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png] ensures that the two skills hit at the same time for a nice chunk of the enemy's HP. This also paves the way for the rest of your skills if this successfully lands during the laning phase due to the slow from [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/e.png]. --- Advanced [title]During lane phase, use the Wraiths as a ward![/title] You heard me correctly. By landing a [imgsmall=skills/kogmaw/r.png] on the Wraith Camp, you'll apply the Sight buff to each Wraith, providing you a nice area of sight made by the wraiths as they walk towards you. As you can see, you have the choice of checking the Upper Area or the Lower Brush for enemies. This is simply done my manipulating the Wraith pathing by walking Up or Down (similar concept to the Superman Leash from Season 1-2. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/Ry9Pr.jpg] The effective areas you will be able to scout using your Ultimate, depending on your side.

This was way too time consuming to do each individual champion, so I just have a list now. [title]Screen Recording Format:[/title] Watch this for a great reference on AP Kog'Maw. It allows you to see my mannerisms and such, where I click when I ulti, how I farm and etc. This is a ranked game by the way (you can see at the end). [title]Highlights:[/title] 5:00 - How to farm with AP Kog'Maw : Hit minions + Enemy champ for bonus points 7:55 - How to farm at level 6 with ultimate. (Note how I wait for MP cooldown) 11:10 - 1 Kill 13:39 - 1 Kill 18:13 - Ashe arrow, and then awkward moment when Ashe realises I do damage. 18:36 - 1 Death 20:08 - 2 Kills, 1 Assist, 1 Death 22:45 - 1 Kill, 1 Assist 23:42 - 2 Kills, 1 Assist 27:09 - 3 Kills, 2 Assists 30:25 - 2 Kills 31:15 - 1 Kill. Ouch 32:45 - 1 Blind Kill, I keep Ashe out of the Fight, 1 Assist, 1 Epic Chase on Ashe and then Kill 33:48 - 2 Kills, 3 Assists --- [title]Ranked Penta Kill:[/title] This was made even better due to the fact that they had Baron, were 2 Inhibs up (+Minion advantage), and had the Kill Advantage. Also, I had a crappy score at the time (5 - 10 - 4) and was underfarmed because I did not expect Kayle mid.

I check up on this guide pretty much every day so feel free to comment on anything, ask for extra sections or whatnot. If I get enough interest I will either commentate a replay or I will play a live game and commentate as I am playing. Most Recent Changes [.] Completely changed the guide to suit S3 [.] Added a possible Season 3 Build. [.] Shortened the Rune section [.] Added Rylais vs Rabadon's section.
