Have you ever wanted to watch helplessly as your enemy free-farms the lane? Have you ever found yourself hoping that the enemy jungler ganks because you don't have a ward? Have you wanted to find yourself useless in teamfights? Do you want to build straight tank or straight damage so that you either die instantly or do no damage? Do you like losing? Then this may not be the guide for you! In this guide (my first), I shall explain the intricacies of my favorite League of Legends champion - Yorick. Pros: [.]High damage [.]Creats a second AD Carry in teamfights [.]Nearly impossible to kill when played correctly [.]Hard-denies almost every other top lane champion [.]Can summon a ghoul to stop skillshots [.]Nearly impossible to counter-pick Cons: [.]Takes time to learn [.]Not much CC [.]No dash/flash ability [.]Easily Countered by a knowledgeable Udyr I am working on creating a full game video to upload to this guide. If you choose to dislike my guide, please leave a comment explaining why.

Damage marks for that early game last hitting and harrass Armor Seals so you can't die in lane Magic Resist/Level glyphs so mages can't burst you later (switch to flat MR if you're laning against a mage) Damage quints for the same reasons as marks Of course, there are plenty of other runes that are viable for Yorick, though I believe these are the best. If you prefer ArPen Marks, flat HP quints or some other such thing, that all works too. If you aren't running Movespeed masteries, I definitely recommend Movespeed quints. However, I don't advise taking Mana Regen or Mana Regen per Level seals or glyphs. You shouldn't ever need them, and if you do you can just pick up 1-2 Mana Potions when you go back (this rarely happens).

[title] Passive: Unholy Covenant[/title] [number]Yorick's basic attacks deal 5% more damage and Yorick takes 5% reduced damage for each summon that is active. Meanwhile, Yorick's ghouls have 35% of Yorick's Attack Damage and Health. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] w00t Ghouls FTW! Love those little guys, they are your (dead) friends! Remember to try to keep as many ghouls active as possible when pushing turrets for the 5% extra damage. [title] Q: Omen of War[/title] [number]Yorick's next attack will deal 30/35/40/45/50 (+120% of attack damage) physical damage and summon a Spectral Ghoul for up to 5 seconds. The Spectral Ghoul deals 8/16/24/32/40 additional damage per hit and moves 15/20/25/30/35% faster. While the ghoul is active, Yorick moves 15/20/25/30/35% faster as well. Cooldown 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds Cost 40 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Your primary damage whenever possible; this ability hits like a truck on steroids. [title] W: Omen of Pestilence[/title] [number]Yorick summons a Decaying Ghoul that arrives with a violent explosion, dealing 60/95/130/165/200 (+100% of ability power) magic damage and slowing nearby enemies by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds. While the Decaying Ghoul remains alive, nearby enemies continue to be slowed by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for up to 5 seconds. Cooldown 12 seconds Cost 40/45/50/55/60 mana Range 500[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Use this as a mobile ward while doing Baron and Dragon, and use it to never blindly run into a bush and die. Obviously you can use it to slow/deal damage as well... Read my Ghoul Blocking section later in the guide. [title] E: Omen of Famine[/title] [number]Yorick deals 55/85/115/145/175 (+100% of attack damage) magic damage and heals for up to 40% of the damage dealt. A Ravenous Ghoul is summoned behind his target, which heals Yorick for the damage it deals and lasts up to 5 seconds. Cooldown 10/9/8/7/6 seconds Cost 55/60/65/70/75 mana Range 550[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] With this ability and wards, you should never die in the lane phase. [title] R: Omen of Death[/title] [number]Yorick conjures a revenant in the image of a target allied champion. Revenants deal 45/60/75% of target ally's Attack Damage. If his ally dies while its revenant is alive, the revenant sacrifices itself to reanimate them. Cooldown 120/105/90 seconds Cost 100 mana Range 700[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] I also devote an entire section to [imgsmall=skills/yorick/r.png]. It has so many uses that it's hard for me to explain them all here.

>>> Most guides I see start with [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] at level one. I only do this if we're invading the enemy jungle, as otherwise your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] both does more damage and heals it back, and [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png] does startlingly high damage and allows you to put continual harass onto them with the increased movement speed as they run away. I have tried all 3 ways extensively; if you start with your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png], you can hardly duel your lane opponent at level one, where with [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png] or [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] you will usually win. is prioritized against all melee opponents. The reasons: [.]Best damage [.]Shortest cooldown [.]Lowest mana cost [.]Unexpected by your lane opponent (as I'm the only Yorick I know of who does this) [.]Helps with both chasing and running away At level 9, your Q comes off cooldown at the same time your ghoul dies, meaning you can perpetuate chases indefinitely with 35% increased movement speed. Prioritize [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] second for great sustain and damage. Prioritize it first against ranged opponents who you won't frequently be able to tag with [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png], and prioritize [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] second against ranged opponents. I don't get any levels into my ultimate until the laning phase is ending, as it's virtually useless in lane (you shouldn't die). Upgrade it at level 12, or whenever the lane phase ends. Seriously, in my last 10 or so wins as Yorick I haven't even leveled my ult until 16 because I just stay in lane farming/denying until 25 minutes or so into the game.

Always start with [imgsmall=items/meki-pendant.png]. This should be enough to both sustain and harrass your harass off for the first 10-15 minutes. Generally, I'll also start with a [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png], to be placed early to watch for ganks. If you're against someone who can actually hurt you in lane, such as Renekton or Tryndamere, switch to [imgsmall=items/mana-potion.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion.png]. First back: =1180 gold You will now be able to safe from almost anything, able to harass and farm to your heart's content. By the way, yeah, you do want 3 wards. Wards are awesome. If you can, it's not even a bad idea to buy more. Keep in mind, all of the following builds include buying lots of wards throughout. Seriously, buy wards! [title]My personal favorite build[/title] / Pros: High damage, high survivability. B Cons: No tenacity Nice MR so you don't have to get it till later, Tenacity OP. Awesome when you're vs. a physical top lane and jungler, shouldn't usually need though. I sometimes buy these depending on the enemy team. They aren't good. wtf NO. Lots of damage, nearly infinite mana. Why you will be amazing midgame. Of course the sheen proc is nice, and all the stats (except AP) are amazing, but Trinity Force really shines because of the increased movement speed. Movespeed is my favorite stat for top lane bruisers (on GP I build Boots of Swiftness, Shurelias, and Trinity force early) and Yorick is no exception. I still don't buy this item, however, as there are multiple items that are better for Yorick currently. More mana for the 'mune, CDR = Awesome, substantial midgame armor. Get this against physical-heavy teams, build it into Frozen Heart when you can. Even better sustain, midgame MR, CDR, this item is very nice but I prefer Merc Treads/Hexdrinker for my midgame MR. Expensive and very, very nerfed. All unnecessary. You can get Philo or HoG, but I don't advise it; I'd rather build damage to get every last hit and keep my lane opponent harassed. 4 Great stats and some go to your team? Hell yes! Buy it if nobody else on your team is going to and you've built enough damage. More life back in teamfights. Good if you're the team tank with great MR and Armor already and you want to do more damage. My god they do a lot of physical if you're getting this, I mean, you already should have Frozen Heart. Enemies have a Karth or a Teemo or you want more damage for your manamune and Atmas (if you have it). I prefer FoN because of the movement speed. Speaking of which, Movespeed, lots of MR, and even greater sustain? What's not to love? If you want supersustain for lategame, I've been told this is the way to go, though I haven't tried it yet myself and I would probably just as soon get Bloodthirster instead or realize that I'm Yorick and I don't need any more sustain. Solid item which I will buy situationally (when I'm snowballing hard and I've built a ton of damage already)

If blue, leash for your jungler then run to top. Don't go up the river of the other top laner can gank you in brush, and some (like Gangplank and Udyr) can even kill you. Take the safer route, even if it means missing a CS or 2. If purple, try to take Golems with your mid lane. You lifesteal back off of them with E, so it should be a pretty easy and painless grab. [.]Your job is to last hit every minion while using [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png][imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] whenever your lane opponent tries to get CS and [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png] every time you can for amazing and unexpected damage. I almost always earn first blood due to my opponents not expecting the tremendous damage output from and short cooldown on [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png]. As you will be playing aggressively and running alongside the enemy to autoattack them each time you can get them with q, You should always have a ward in the river. [.]I suggest starting with one ward and buying 3 more when you first go back; warding is essential. It takes ~6.5 wards to equal the amount of gold earned from a kill and an assist. It is always worth buying wards. I literally cannot stress this enough. [.]Usually, you won't need ganks early to deny your lane opponent; it's better for your jungler to focus on Mid and Bot. Don't be greedy with the jungler. Also, you don't need blue or red buff at all for lane phase. If your AP carry is somebody like Rumble who doesn't use mana, however, blue buff is great to have. [.]Smart last hitting makes the use of ghouls to farm almost nil in the lane phase. With your autoattacks alone, especially with the AD buff from your marks, it's fairly simple to last hit almost all of the minions. [.]If your lane opponent is really afraid of you and only farms by way of, say, Kennen's Shuriken while running away whenever you move forward, you can catch up to them by using your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png] to last hit a minion, giving you the movement speed you need to get to harass range. This is why I'm apt to grab a mana potion or two in lanes that I'm already dominating. [.]The most popular way people have found to reduce Yorick's damage in lane is to run in the bushes when you cast ghouls at them. Generally these people stand right next to their bushes; punish them by placing your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] ever so carefully so that it hits them while still landing in the bushes. Naturally, follow up with your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png]. Also, you can ward the lane bushes, which not only keeps them from ghoul harass but also prevents ninja ganks (ganks through lane bushes). Ward the bushes whenever you freeze the lane to keep the opponent from sneaking in there to leach exp. This is another thing I do almost always as Yorick: Whenever you freeze the lane, make sure your team knows that the top lane could be ganking them at any time. Nothing sucks more than freezing a Nasus out of lane then watching helplessly as he ganks and kills 3 of your teammates, earning both more gold and exp than if he'd just been farming normally.

I have spent a great many hours on the League of Legends forums and on forums from other websites reading threads on how to counter Yorick, and very few people actually seem to know what they're talking about. Hopefully this will help discourage rumours that certain champs counter Yorick in lane. As I see it, Yorick has 3 basic types of lanes: [.]The "Get Raped By My Ghouls" lane (difficulty level I) [.]The "Can Be Killed But Not Too Easily" lane (II) [.]The "Be Careful Or You Actually Could Die Somehow" lane (III) Group I: Get Raped By My Ghouls Every time I read threads on how to counter Yorick, multiple people suggest Nasus, which I find hilarious. Don’t E harass him at level 1, since he’ll just siphoning strike it and get the health back right away, but at level 2 hit him with a WE combo every time he tries to get a last hit. “But Croaker, he gets Siphoning Strike farm off of ghouls!” Let me explain why this doesn’t matter: 1. It’s actually really hard to last hit ghouls with Siphoning Strike. 2. To make this work, you must be standing next to the ghouls until they’re down to their last bar of health, taking hits from them the whole time (which adds up to a lot of damage). 3. You still don’t get money, and you won’t be able to farm the minions farther forward because if you do I will not only start kicking your ass myself but I will drop my Q to assist me in doing so, then E again when it’s back up in a few seconds. Harass the Nasus! He is one of the few champs I advise super-aggressive harass for. You will want to farm from the backside of his ranged minions if you can, keeping him as far away as possible. Of course, still try to keep the minion wave as close to your tower as you can. I also see a lot of people suggesting Akali as a counter to Yorick. This is only true if your jungler comes up and feeds her double buffs at 6 (screw you, random shit Gangplank!) Other than this, you want to do the same thing as Nasus and hit her with all of your spells whenever you see her. If she’s being a douche and dropping her stealth pool everytime she wants to get last hits, buy a vision ward for the lane and hit her with everything when she tries to pool on you. By the way, you can easily sustain any damage she does to you. Unless she has double buffs at 6. Seriously, fuck that Gangplank. Which brings us to Inexplicably, people also say GP is a counter to Yorick. I find that funny, as Yorick may be the only real hard counter to GP in lane. GP will Parrrrley harass you, but you will WE harass him, dealing more damage and healing back everything he did to you. Pretty soon, he’ll be stuck wasting mana to sustain with oranges and won’t even have enough money to last hit with parrley (but when he does, harass his harAss). There are some gangplanks who prioritize Remove Scurvy, and you won’t be able to harass them out of lane unless they’re really aggressive. Just farm against them, and call for ganks (make sure the jungler ganks immediately after they consume oranges for sustain). He’ll be able to get farm for a couple levels. Then, you’ll use your WE every time he tries to. Kennen is a champ I like to use strategy against by last hitting with Q to run forward with the extra MS to catch up to him and harass. You may need a mana potion or two to do this, but it’s worth it for that extra harass. Uh... Kill his shield with QWE and start auto-attacking him along with your ghouls whenever he comes forward to pop a shield and farm. If he stuns you every time so he can farm with it, you will be quickly draining his mana and he’ll frequently have to go back to pick up more. You shouldn’t die to him, as you’ll be running the flat MR marks and E sustaining like a boss. If he’s built for level 2-3 damage, he can do some pretty good damage in the first few levels. However, you will be able to sustain back everything he does to you, and after level 3, when he jumps towards you you can use 3 ghouls on him and easily outdo his damage, getting more hp back than him while doing so. I see people who say Ez counters Yorick in lane. They are very wrong. Easy lane, harass, laugh off his skill shots, last hit minions, harass, kill. Many people also believe Garen to be a lane counter to Yorick. Once again, they are very wrong. Yorick can W Garen whenever he tries to come near garen to use his combo, then follow up with an E. Harass him when he tries to farm and Q him when he actually does make it to you, your ghouls take reduced AOE damage and will do great damage to him. When he’s naing back trying to recover health with his passive, drop your W behind his minions and he’ll be forced to either lose the passive or retreat out of experience range. When he hits you with judgement, stand by your minions and he’ll be forced to push the lane while you outdamage him. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WE him every time he tries to do anything, even rake your melee minions. He will be worthless against you, especially if you pick up a quick Ninja Tabi. If he uses Cutthroat on you, punish him with everything. Harass, last hit. If he jumps on you, auto->Q then start kicking his ass while he runs away. AP Carries types of champs If you trade harass with this type of carry, you will stay at full health while just a single one of your WE combos should bring down about a third of their health bar. I must say laning against Ryze as Yorick is kinda hilarious. types of champs Ah, the long range casters with AOE farm spells early. Try to get ganks on these guys, as top ganks on champions like Brand generally lead to easy kills. You won’t be able to harass them as well as the Ryze type, but you can still harass them pretty well, though you still shouldn’t be missing any minions with your mad lasthitting skills. This is another group it’s worth picking up a couple mana potions against so that you can Q to last hit a minion before running forward to harass with your extra MS. He should be able to farm and sustain pretty well with just barell roll and drinkin that wine, but if he comes forward to body slam the melee minions or something like that, definitely drop your WE on him. Laugh at him in the early levels. Be such a huge dick that he can’t even last hit with his Null Sphere. Make your team whine about how he’s the worst kassadin they’ve ever seen. Gain multiple levels and over 100 CS on him by 15 minutes in. Prosper. Group II: The ones you can kill but have good sustain so the won’t be quite as easy to deal with He’s really tanky. Harassing him will do good damage, but he shouldn’t have too much of a problem recovering. Deny him as much CS as possible, get your CS, and prosper. Q him whenever he comes near minions. Frequently listed as a Yorick counter, Cho can indeed get back HP from last hitting your ghouls. As I stated, however, this is really hard to do, and chances are he’ll take much nmore damage than you’ll deal. Try to kill him at level 2-4, or this could very easily turn into a free-farm lane. Get early ganks on him if you can. Hit him with Q whenever he goes for last hits and run along with him, autoattacking all the way and using abilities whenever they're up. One of the easiest lanes you can get. The last singed I played against (in a ranked game) had 11 CS when I had 157 because I killed him at level 2 with my Q/E/Ignite and continued to rape him every time he came near the minions; I reached level 11 before he got 6. The ghouls heal his passive a bit, but they damage him quite a bit more. Harass what you can and you should beat him in CS, though once he gets Wriggle’s he’ll be much more difficult to push out of lane. Q Harass to the max. You can harass him pretty well, though he has good sustain, but he’s really dangerous when you get ganked. Make sure you keep those wards out and harass him when his shield/armor buff are down. Harass him and don’t let him get to you, shouldn’t be a big deal. He can do really good damage with ganks though. Put 2 - 3 points into E for the sustain before loading everything into Q. If he tries to fight you head on he will lose, just harass him in lane and he’ll use all of his mana keeping up hungering strike. Once his mana is gone, he’ll have to leave the lane to heal back up. Also, don’t worry about a warwick trying to kill you. They won’t. You can push a wave (with a ward out), ult yourself, and kill his turret while he attacks you the whole time. Trust me; this has happened many times. Harass them and don’t act like an idiot. Make sure your ignite is up if you want to kill him; his passive can be a bitch to get through. / They’re gonna farm your caster minions and there’s nothing you can do about it. Harass them when you can. Make sure to put your W in front of Morgana so that it gets hit by her dark binding. Use your W to soak up saplings. Both can sustain well, but you can sustain better and eventually push them out. Focus Q against mao and beat him up for thinking his passive will let him sustain against you. Any 1v2 lane There will be teams that run 2 people top against a Yorick. Generally they push the lane fairly hard, so just stay far back and farm, hararss as much as you possibly can as you will do even more damage when they are losing levels on you. When you hit level 5 your E harass on them will be just wonderful. It's difficult to quantify this matchup as Udyr can prioritize any of three abilities and build earlygame items in a bunch of different ways. Judge how the Udyr is playing and play the matchup accordingly. He can and will consume your ghouls; it's very hard to stop a good Nunu from farming as Yorick, but you shouldn't really get killed by one either. He also synergizes extremely well with ganks; make sure to keep the river warded. To break even with you in lane, Malph will need to start with a lot of armor (as most Malphs do) and build a Chalice of Harmony. If he does this, you can do effectively nothing to him. Let him farm and farm better than him, and lategame he’ll have a mostly worthless Chalice of Harmony while you’ll have a full stockade of awesome items. She will heal every time her heal is up and farm from a distance. You can’t really do much to her, but she can’t do much to you either. Just farm top as well as you can and by late game you will be much more effective than her in fights. Try to push her out of lane just as much as any other champion, just realize that it won't actually work until she's run out of mana. He won't do damage to you, so go full-on offensive in lane. Uhhhh yeah he’s gonna heal basically everything. Get ganks when you can and you should be able to kill him, (but only with said ganks). Okay, new info on Vlad. I played against him a couple more times, and you can harass his balls off early and there's nothing he can do about it. Get ganks early as much as you can, as he's pretty squishy, or at ~level 9 this will become a free-farm lane, although I'm considering moving Vlad to group I. He dies fast. Group IV: Oh my God you can somehow kill me but that’s okay because I can kill you too. Don’t stand with your minions between yourself and him, or he will come to hit you for a substantial amount of damage every 12 or so seconds. You may want to make your home in the bushes against this guy. Stil harass his ass off, his sustain isn’t really that amazing, and if you harass him enough he’ll be forced to spend his fury on Cull the Meek and pushing the lane, opening him up for ganks and making it so he can’t do much damage to you. Prioritize E, as he should be able to damage you in lane. You can die to Trynd, but if you stay far enough back, harass him, and Q him when he spins to you you should have no problem with him. Just don’t be an idiot by running up to attack him yourself when his rage is at full. He dosn't have any built-in harass but he does great damage early. Harass him as much as you can, though he has an easy ghoul attack counter with his decoy. Don’t try too hard to harass her, just farm the lane and harass her when she tries to hit you. She will beat you if you attack her head on, so drop your WE and run the opposite direction. Harass him and don’t let his slows hit you. If they do, you will take a lot of damage. If they don’t, hit him with WE then Q if he catches up to you and you will have come out far ahead. Stay away from her massive damage potential and harass her. Q if she gets to you, and run the other way. She doesn’t have great sustain, so good harass should push her out fairly quickly. Get boots as early as possible, to the point of going B at 500 gold to get boots/1 ward/1health/1manapot His autoattacks hit like trucks early. Harass with what you can and don’t be aggressive at all. Farm what is safe, don’t die. She will have tons of armor due to her thing that gives tons of armor. Harassing her is good, but don’t chase for the kill unless you’re absolutely sure. She can kite the balls off of you then slam you into a wall and rape rape rape. This being said, Poopy also fits into category I: she has no sustain and if you aren't an overaggresive doofus you'll have no problem keeping her at ~1/5 your farm. You’ll want to make your home in the bushes against a morde. If you stand by your minions he can actually do substantial damage to you. Harass him when his shield is down, when it’s at full health there isn’t much point. She can be extremely fast, and do quite a bit of damage early. Harass her as much as you can, as she doesn’t have much sustain. When she comes forward to hit you with her spells, Q her then run away, before returning to continue your harass and CSing. Harass a lot, he does a lot of damage, run away when tries to do a lot of damage.

By now you can do pretty much anything you want: [.]Gank everywhere [.]Buy and place lots of wards. [.]Push turrets when you're alone, but with wards. [.]Tank teamfights, and protect your carries. [.]Harass their team and infuriate them. [.]Continue to farm lane and deny your lane opponent. Let your carries take the farm whenever possible. As Yorick, you don't need it nearly as much as them.

Your main jobs: [.] Ult your AD carry for double AD Damage OR Ult someone who's almost dead [.] Protect your AD carry if you're the tank OR kill their squishies if you aren't [.] Keep skillshot champions from doing shit [.] Chase people down with Q and W [.] Survive Your secondary jobs: [.] Last hit the person with double buffs to enter instant beastmode [.] Exhaust AD carries (if you have it)

Scenario 1: You are farming top lane, 3/4 hp, and a pantheon (who is scared to death of you) is occasionally running up to last hit your minions with his spears. Suddenly, here comes a rammus, rolling up the river like [insert something really fast here] and you know you don't have time to escape! What do you do?! 2 things: 1. Place an omen of pestilence[imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] right in front of him, breaking his powerball and slowing him as you retreat 2. Laugh Scenario # 2: A Maokai has thrown a sapling at you and you have no minions nearby. What do you do?! 2 things: 1. Place an omen of pestilence[imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] on top of the sapling, absorbing the blow. 2. Laugh Alternatively, you could just take the hit like a man, because YOU are playing as Yorick. Scenario #3: Your enemy has a very low health bar and is trying to go back by the turret. What do you do?! 2 things: 1. Place an omen of pestilence[imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] near them, running up to them and attacking to end their B. 2. Laugh Scenario #4: Your team fed their Ezrael! What do you do!? 2 things: 1. Place all three omens [imgsmall=skills/yorick/q.png][imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png][imgsmall=skills/yorick/e.png] around him. 2. Laugh as all of his Qs are absorbed by minions, his ult does much-reduced damage, and his E hits a ghoul. Scenario #5: They have a jungle shaco! OP OP OP OP! 2 things: 1. Level your [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] at level 1. 2. Place [imgsmall=skills/yorick/w.png] on his boxes at red and laugh as his jungle is screwed. Ghoul-blocking is one of Yorick's most hilarious and least used techniques, and one I try to abuse whenever possible. Get your ghouls around an ezrael and his Q will never make it out to hit your teammates; get the ghouls attacking a kennen and his shuriken skillshot won't be able to stun your carry!

[imgsmall=skills/yorick/r.png] is a remarkably versatile weapon to have in your toolkit. I hope here to explain its many uses. First though, for those of you who don't know, you can control the ghoul summoned by your ult by holding down the "Alt" key. Saving a teammate The first, and most obvious use of Yorick's ult. Your nocturne is about to die, so you ult him and he is able to continue dueling the enemy team for 10 seconds. Doubling up your AD carry My favorite use of Yorick's ult, in teamfights mid-late game you should as soon as possible use Omen of Death on your team's AD carry (caitlyn, graves, corki). It's amazing how quickly 1 good AD carry kills an enemy, and if you have 2? Well that's just gravy! Turret pushing Your lane opponent just went b and doesn't have teleport or is (somewhat inexplicably) in bot lane? Push the lane hard, drop as many ghouls as you can, ult yourself and take out that turret! Your lane opponent does no damage (like Warwick) and you've got a push going? Ult yourself, ignore Warwick, and destroy the turret as quickly as you can. Later, ult your carry to tank the turret for an easy push if the lane's minions are all the way across the map. Advanced Omen Control: Target of Focus Most intelligent players will choose to kill the copy first if you ult a person with low HP, so that instead of fighting the player twice (once with full hp) they just have to fight him once, after taking out your low health ghoul. If you notice them doing this, IMMEDIATELY start your ultimate running in the opposite direction of the person it's intended to save. If they do follow through and kill it first, they will have a significant amount of catching up to do to the player they were originally trying to kill. If they stop attacking the copy and kill the real person, they get regenerated with full HP anyway (just like you wanted!) Advanced Omen Control: Recall Scouting You just finished killing your enemy by using your ult and you need to recall. Their jungler may be coming top and you have almost no health. As you begin recalling, send out your ult on a scouting mission to make sure he isn't and, if he is, harass him while he tries to reach you. This can also be done as Annie when you have Tibbers out, or Morde with his Child of the Grave Recall Scout Juking for Pros: Let's say you send out your ult and tell it to run into a bush. In that bush, the Omen of Death sees an enemy approaching. Have the ult run straight out of the bush and start attacking them. They'll assume you're in that bush, and will have to delay while they check it. Advanced Omen Control: Tanking the Turret Your team has just aced the enemy team and pushed down their mid inhibitor. They are now back up, and you want to take out their inner top turret while they push back the minions and regroup, but your top minions are nowhere near the turret. Simply ult your AD carry and send the [imgsmall=skills/yorick/r.png] in first to absorb the turret damage while doling out heavy damage itself. Advanced Omen Control: 2 Man Baron In a teamfight, you ace the enemy but only you and your AD carry are left standing. Ult him while tanking Baron yourself for a relatively easy Baron. Remedial Omen Control: Copy Copy Copy? Ult Mordekaiser's ult. It makes another copy with a weird symbol above it's head. If you can't tell from the fact that this is Remedial, it's only something you do for fun, not for the game. The only way I can see you actually doing this is if Morde's ult kills their AD carry and their AD carry is much much much more fed than yours, in which case you'd benefit more from having 2 of the enemy's.

Wards = Map Control Map Control = OP Therefore, Wards = OP. It's no mistake that in my item build section I have 5 wards instead of just 1. In lane, as I have discussed, you should ALWAYS have a ward in the river to protect from ganks. This shows where I place lane phase wards as both blue and purple. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/tDXUw.jpg] Blue's ward shows farther out both into the river and toward the tri-bush than in the bush by lane. I used to ward the tri-bush, but junglers would take advantage of my lack of vision at the lowermost area of the river coming up so they could gank unseen. Purples ward spot covers a large chunk of river with plenty of space for you to back up before the ganker arrives, as well as obtaining some vision into their jungle. This next map shows both where to ward to gain sight of the enemy team if they approach and attack dragon. I love buying 5 wards when I'm on blue and placing them in the 5 spots shown to cover Baron. the should allow you to almost always know where they are, and secure either a free Baron or a forced baron fight. Start 9/21/0 with Armor Seals, Cloth Armor + 5 Health Pots, Teleport, and your choice of second summoner spell. Put three points into turtle stance and don't try to kill Yorick early; farm every minion. Quickly build Wriggle's Lantern and Ninja Tabi, making sure to keep a few Health Potions and keeping wards out for ganks. From levels 6-9, max out Phoenix stance. Start pushing the lane as quickly as you can and destroying Yorick's turret; he can't do enough damage to kill you, or even do real damage to you with his ghouls. If he tries to keep you off his turret by tanking your minions just outside of it's range and waiting for his minion wave, punish him with Phoenix Stance autoattacks. You should be able to kill his turret pretty quickly, and keep him subdued. Push the lane a bit further (safely) then head off to help secure dragon, counter-jungle, or gank lanes with your Bear Stance powers. Lane Switching: Top and BotLet's say your team has picked Nasus (or a champ hard-countered by Yorick) to lane top, you don't have an AD carry yet, and the enemy team picks a Yorick. What you can do is pick: [imgsmall=champ/vayne.png] or [imgsmall=champ/corki.png] and put them top against the Yorick. I say these two because they can do the most damage to Yorick while still having an escape and effective way to damage/prevent damage from Yorick. Make sure to build Wriggle's first on both of them, for the ward/armor/lifesteal. Frequently ask for ganks, as both of these champions do a lot of damage to Yorick in the lane phase; as I explained in my top lane matchups section Corki's autoattacks hit Yorick like a truck early. Don't get harassed to much early; start with Boots + 4 Health Pots. Nasus can farm his Q even better bot than he can top if he has a support, just get your normal Nasus items and Q Q Q Q Q. Kill yorick's wards to open him up for ganks, one of the only ways to kill him in lane.

"yorik is good if you like winning" -CroakerX Obviously, whatever steaming hunk of man meat first said that quote was very right. Yorick succeeds at hardcore lane denial and mass teamfight utility; you'd have to be dead not to like him (but then you'd like him more...) By the way, CroakerX (the account I'm posting this as) doesn't even own Yorick. I play Yorick on my second level 30 account, TheLimperX, and am currently riding him to a higher ELO (1600 so far) I hope I didn't have too many redundancies or errors in this guide, I know it must have taken an awfully long time to get through. Feel free to message me with any questions or suggestions, or just post them in the comments. CHANGELOG: 3/3/2012: Edited Masteries, Runes, Item build, skill order, Top Lane Matchups , summoner spells sections Added TL;DR section 7/9/2012 Changed just about everything.
