Remember that [imgsmall=champ/elise.png] can be played jungle and mid but this guide is focused on top lane. [title]Pros[/title] [.]She has human and spider form which means 6 spells and a lot of versatility; [.]Her [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] deals damage on enemy's hp %, which means dealing damage without damage items; [.][imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] on human form is a Stun so that is always a pro; [.]Can push well thanks to her [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] in spider form; [.]Her [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] in spider form makes her untargetable and allows you to chase an enemy or escape from it; [.]Reasonable tankiness; [.]Many build paths and playstyles to consider; [.]Dont underestimate her cute little spiderlings -> [imgsmall=skills/elise/p.png]. [title]Cons[/title] [.]Hard to master; [.]High cooldowns; [.]Stun is a skillshot; [.]Not a lane bully; [.]Requires patience.

Here are my conclusions: Her AP ratios just suck a lot. Her big advantage is her [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] that can do damage without having any damage items. So you could build AP Tanky, but that AP doesn't help you or your team very much apart from the poke damage you get from [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] in human form. With offtank AD you still get the % damage from [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png], you can get more advantage from your [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] spell in spider form (because now you are ad with a lot of attack speed) and you have autoattacks to harass in lane. Your [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] in human form deals less damage compared to an AP oriented build, but the base damage is good enough to poke. I think you can maximize this champion potential going for this route, but don't forget that you have to be used to this playstyle. In my opinion [imgsmall=champ/elise.png] playstyle in top lane is similar to [imgsmall=champ/nidalee.png] playstyle in top lane.

I chose this selection of runes basically to help the laning phase. It gives you enough sustainability and attack damage to harass your opponent.

I'm going to use the information from tigerking's guide because I think he explained each ability very accurately. Here is the link if you are interested: [highlight]8 Legged Terror: Comprehensive Top, Mid, and Jungle Elise by tigerking[/highlight] http://www.solomid.net/guides.php?g=38052-tigerking-elise-build-guide. [title][img=skills/elise/p.png] Passive: Spider Swarm[/title] [number]When Elise's Human Form spells hit an enemy, she readies a Spiderling. When Elise transforms, she summons Spiderlings to attack nearby foes. The maximum number of spiderlings increases with Spider Form's level. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] "Spiderlings don't do a whole lot of damage, but they are great for pushing turrets and their damage does add up. Don't think too much about this, as you'll be generally using spells enough that you'll usually be maxed on spiderlings. If they die, you'll probably get your spiderling count up pretty quickly." [title][img=skills/elise/q.png] Q: Neurotoxin / Venomous Bite[/title] [number]While in Human form: Deals magic damage equal to a base amount plus a percentage of the target's current health. Damage is capped against monsters. While in Spider form: Elise lunges to a target with a poisonous bite that deals magic damage equal to a base amount plus a percentage of the target's missing health. Damage is capped against monsters. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] "Your bread and butter skill. In human form, this is your main poke and damage in lane. It's nice for taking a chunk out of a full-health squishy or softening up a tank with little MR. A great spell all around, and even nicer because it has a flat mana cost. In spider form, this is your finisher. Your execute." "Try to use this spell whenever it's up, especially in human form, as long as you have mana." [title][img=skills/elise/w.png] W: Volatile Spiderling / Skittering Frenzy[/title] [number]While in Human form: Summons a venom-gorged Spiderling that moves to target location and explodes, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies when it nears an enemy unit or after 3 seconds. While in Spider form: (Passive): Spiderlings gain bonus attack speed. (Active): Increases the attack speed of Elise and her Spiderlings for 3 seconds. While active, Elise is healed when she or her spiderlings attack. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] "In human form, this spell actually does a surprisingly large amount of damage. It is kind of a skillshot and kind of like a Maokai sapling. It can (and should) be used to give vision of bushes). It does good AoE damage, so this is your main wave clear. But it is very slow and doesn't explodes on any enemy contact including minions, so it's not worth using that much in lane. It does home a little, so if the enemy is too close and not blocked by minions feel free to fire one straight at him and it'll chase him on. Later on, it can be used to effectively zone people. In spider form, this is the other half of your wave clear. It's also a bit of sustain. In jungle, it's your main damage. In lane it doesn't heal you that much, but it is free, so if the enemy lets you attack minions from melee range for free then take the free health. Late game, when you have more spiderlings and AP, you can easily get 300 health back from this. The duration is short, so make sure your spiderlings have fully spawned and are attacking before casting this!" [title][img=skills/elise/e.png] E: Cocoon / Rappel[/title] [number]While in Human form: Elise fires a web that stuns the first enemy hit for 1.5 seconds. While in Spider form: - On enemy cast: Elise and her spiderlings ascend high into the air and descend upon an enemy target. - On ground cast: Elise and her spiderlings ascend high into the air, becoming untargetable for two seconds. Casting Rappel on a nearby enemy during this time will descend upon your target. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] "In human form, this is a pretty decent stun, but it's a thin projectile and not easy to hit. In lane, don't spam this unless you're bullying your opponent and have the mana to spam this and try to go for kills. Try to save it for when your jungler is ganking or you need to make a hasty escape. In fights, I like to hold this as a clutch stun / peel unless I can hit a priority target with it (for example, sniping their AD carry after someone else CCs them). In spider form, this is your gap closer and escape. Use this to dodge CC as well as to avoid heavy damage spells or global ults like Requiem or Enchanted Crystal Arrow. You can also use this as your gap closer, and you will come down on top of your opponent as long as they are in your circle when you cast it (even if they flash or blink away). As you're falling, you should be hitting Q to execute them if they're low. Unfortunately, once you're up in the air, you can only come straight down or onto an enemy, so if the enemies just sit under you and wait you can try to escape to a minion or jungle creep. This skill also gives you vision in the circle, so you don't need to have a teammate or ward on the other side of a wall to hop it as long as there as an enemy or minion to hop to. This spell's cooldown is really really long in both forms, so make sure you are careful with it (especially in spider form). Keep in mind that if you use it as your gap closer, you have no way to escape." [title][img=skills/elise/r.png] R: Spider Form / Human Form[/title] [number]While in Human form: Elise transforms into a menacing spider with new abilities. While in Spider Form, Elise deals magic bonus damage on attack and has increased Movement Speed, Armor, and Magic Resistance. Each level of her ultimate allows Elise to summon an additional spiderling. While in Spider form: Elise transforms into a human form with new abilities. Each level of her ultimate allows Elise to summon an additional spiderling.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] "This is what makes Elise unique. You have this available from level 1. It gives you an extra bit of beefiness and move speed, so always use this when you are running around to or between lanes or camps. It also gives you a bit of damage on auto attacks as well as spiderlings, so use this whenever you're clearing waves or pushing turrets. The spiderlings don't seem like they do much damage, but it adds up, especially late game when you have a small army of them and some AP to scale them."

The [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] is your main source of damage so maximize first. I choose [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] to maximize second mainly because of the spider form, but it also gives you a nice poking damage ability to your human form. Last the [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] because it gives no damage. It is a CC skill and you just need to learn to master the cooldown. It is a very Useful Skill so don't waste it for nothing because you can need it very soon. Early game you can use this Skill to help you harass your opponent, so that is why I take 1 point at level 2. As always, max [imgsmall=skills/elise/r.png] whenever it is available.

[title]Starting Items[/title] [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png] This is the standard start for solo lanes but you can consider [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png] if you are up against someone like [imgsmall=champ/jayce.png]. [title]First Trip Back[/title] [img=items/dorans-blade.png][img=items/dorans-blade.png][img=items/vampiric-scepter.png]. Don't forget to buy [imgsmall=items/health-potion.png] and at least a [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png]. I recommend early game to always carry [imgsmall=items/health-potion2.png] and a [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png]. If you don't have enough gold for all this just buy one Doran's Blade and go straight to sustainability later on with a [imgsmall=items/phage.png]. If you are really having a difficult time versus an ad champion rush to [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png]. [title]Always Buy [highlight]FOR MID GAME[/highlight][/title] [img=items/phage.png] then [img=items/wits-end.png] and upgrade your [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png] to [img=items/mercurys-treads.png]. [title]Mid Game to Late Game[/title] Now you have to decide which path you want to go to. See if your team needs a more offensive oriented champion or someone with more sustain. If you go for sustain buy [img=items/frozen-mallet.png] and only [img=items/the-bloodthirster.png] after. If you you choose damage go for [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] after [imgsmall=items/phage.png] and then upgrade [imgsmall=items/phage.png] to [img=items/trinity-force.png]. [title]Late Game[/title] I recommend always buying a [img=items/guardian-angel.png]. For your final item you should buy a defensive Item. You have enough magic resist from [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] and [imgsmall=items/wits-end.png] so I recommend buying [img=items/frozen-heart.png] because it gives you a lot of armor and some cooldown reduction. But you really have to see what fits you best depending on the game progression.

Early Game I just play passively. Farm and harassing every time my enemy comes for a last hit. I usually harass early with [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] to take advantage of the opponent being at full hp. Then I harass with autoattacks to save up some mana in case I need it for a gank or something like that. If you can leave your opponent at 1/4 of hp just change to spider form, use [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] to close the gap between you two and use [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] to do as much damage as possible before finishing with your [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png]. If you are having an easy lane try to push the lane and help your mid lane or steal your enemy's jungle. But if you are going to steal I recommend you to ward their jungle first or else you can have a bad surprise. If you are having a bad time try to use your [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png]->[imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] combo and autoattack so you can have a little advantage. Play with patience and farm. [highlight]In teamfights or 1v1 situations[/highlight] try to use all your abilities in human form 1st. Use [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] to stun and [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] to take a chunk of damage. If you are in a teamfight also use [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] because it does damage in AOE. After that, change to spider form and if your target is far away use [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] to close the gap and [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] to max the damage you give him before you use [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] to finish him. I don't recommend going alone against 2 enemy champions because you will take too much time to kill them and overextend the situation for sure.

[.]Don't use your [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] in spider form recklessly. It has a huge cooldown. Only use it when you want to close a gap between you and an enemy champion AND you are sure you can finish him off. [.]Don't forget that spider form gives you increased movement speed, armor and magic resist. [.]Use [imgsmall=skills/elise/r.png] wisely. Initiate and poke with Human Form and only go balls out with Spider Form. [.]In a teamfight, when you are getting focused, you can use [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] in spider form to be untargetable and throw their focus off. Just use it on the ground and let yourself be untargetable for the full 2 seconds. [.]Don't worry about the spiderlings stack. You will use enough skills to maximize your spiderlings without even noticing, so don't let that distract you from more important things. [.]Use [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] in human form to check bushes. Remember that "venom-gorged spiderling" doesn't cross walls (it goes around it) so if you want to check behind a wall you can use [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] in spider form, but as I said before, be careful because it has a huge cooldown. [.]Consider building a [imgsmall=items/wriggles-lantern.png] after 1 [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png] if you are versus a hard bruiser.

This guide is the result of testing out [imgsmall=champ/elise.png] capabilities and finding out that this is the way I personally play best with her. Also I've been reading a lot of guides that people are posting about [imgsmall=champ/elise.png] and with all this information collected, I've decided to create this guide. So let me know what you think about the guide and comment, specially if you downvote it, so I can correct or maybe realize what is missing in my comprehension of this champion. Thank you for reading. ----- [title]AKSPIFF[/title]

[.]Updated the Mastery Page from 21-9-0 to 9-21-0. [title]31/10/2012[/title] [.]Updated Skill Order since I made a mistake by having a point in Q at level 8 which is impossible. Thank you [highlight]ZX9Ghost[/highlight] for pointing that out. [.]Added a tip.
