Welcome to \"The Book of Akali\"[big][/big] , in this guide you will find out everything there is to know about how to play akali. Ranging from counter picking to how to succeed in your lane against any champion. I have over 1000+ akali games so listen carefully. This guide will tell you everything you need to know. As you can see I play a lot of Akali, more than any champ by far, and she has carried me through all the way to platinum division with ease. I'm a platinum player and started this season at Silver 4 and climbed all the way to Platinum in a mere few months because of Akali. I will be going over everything and updating every week so leave comments, and anything you would like to know please message me on here on add me on the game and we will play customs and i'll teach you everything I possibly know to help you succeed as akali as I did. I will always help anyone who needs it, just add me, My IN GAME NAME is: TimeApart so add me and i'll teach you everything I know about akali, and how to successfully win and get to a higher Elo/Division with her. Read this guide and learn it well, and then just maybe with a little bit of luck, you may one day be as good as me with Akali...
**Champions that counter Akali** , , **Items that counter Akali** , , All of these above are hard counters to Akali, and if they focus you it can cause a very rough game for you. So try to play safer and play with your team. Execute your play based on your comp/their comp. Since you can be countered, and in some games if you pick akali relatively high, you will be more than likely countered in lane if the other team is smart. So if this does happen here are a few play tips and tricks you can do to still carry the game. If you do get countered in lane, by a champion like: or in the lane your in, the thing you should do is, first and foremost play safe/smart early on. Farm as much as you possibly can, if you can poke do it and avoid any unnecessary damage towards you. As soon as you hit level 6, if you shove your lane just a little bit, if you have the chance to ward their junglers red/blue do it, then roam to other lanes, but DO NOT let your lane push to your tower without your jungler covering your lane. Go to other lanes and gank them, even if you do not get the kill or even the assist, by pushing the other champion back to go heal/buy earlier than they wanted, you can allow your team to gain experience/farm on them allowing them to win their lane. This is gonna be one of the hardest things for you, being able to benefit your team, don't just sit in lane, help others out once you know you've already won your lane.
Teams that work well with you If you play with a team with hard cc/tankiness, while not lacking in damage you can take a lot of pressure off of you by not being the only source of damage. Having a team comp like: , , , and a . This is a great comp for you, due to all the CC your team possesses, you can literally jump on their main DPS and take them out of the fight, while your team CC's the heck out of the other team allowing you to kill without having everything thrown at you. The main thing having is, strong heavy hitter tanks, that posses a high rate of cc/damage to back them up. Don't let your comp go all tankiness so you lack in damage late game. The synergy that comes from having cc on your team allows more focus on them and less focus on you. Teams that do not work well with you If you find yourself playing vs a team that include: , , , , Be prepared to be in for a long long game, unless you got fed early due to their mistakes and faults. But being in a team fight against this will be devastating to you. Soon as yours or their teams initiate a team fight, if you go for their DPS their jungler/support or any of them will focus you down very fast, with their granting vision on your , you will not be as safe as you would like to be in a fight. So have your team(Tanks) take the initial damage and cc if any way possible, then try to take out one of their carries then. -Team Comps- Any team comp that has some tanky CC/Heavy AD bruisers is so beneficial to you in the team fight phase. By having tanky people who also do some damage, you can focus on their carries a lot easier, when you have a Darius/Shyv in their front line messing them up, If your team has a lot of CC, but your pretty much the only damage, you have to build straight snowball mode and pick off their 2 carries such as: ADC/APC, that way in the team fight it will turn into a 3v5. This isn't that bad to learn, once your in team fight mode YOUR ONLY OBJECTIVE is to Squash their ADCS/APCS into a pulp right off the bat, if you find yourself getting focused, wait for your tank/support to initiate the fight and then jump on them, by doing this they will most likely turn to focusing you instead whoever initiated the battle, pop your and this will not allow them to focus you. If your playing against one of these comps then be prepared to try to carry early and snowball to end the game, because in team fight if your team is: A. Squishy B. No CC C. No Damage, but you then your up the creek my friend, because you will be focused as soon as you ult in to pick off their carry, but if your fed early on you can pick off their carries, and allow your team to help you out way more early on. If it goes to late your chance dwindle down by quiet a bit during team fights. So if you find yourself vs this kind of comp try to snowball and end early, try to even feed your lanes to help even more to succeed in this game.
Incoming magic damage is multiplied by a factor based on the unit's magic resistance: [title]Examples:[/title] ■25 magic resistance → ×0.8 incoming magic damage (20% reduction). ■100 magic resistance → ×0.5 incoming magic damage (50% reduction). ■−25 magic resistance → ×1.2 incoming magic damage (20% increase). Every point of magic resistance requires a unit to take 1% more of its maximum health in magic damage to be killed. This is called \"effective health.\" [title]Example:[/title] A unit with 60 magic resistance has 60% of its maximum health in its effective health, so if the unit has 1000 maximum health, it will take 1600 magic damage to kill it. What this means: by definition, magic resistance does not have diminishing returns, because each point increases magic durability by 1% whether the unit has 10 magic resistance or 1000 magic resistance. [title]Note:[/title] Unlike health, increasing magic resistance also makes healing more effective because it takes more effort to remove the unit's health than it does to restore it. Incoming physical damage is multiplied by a factor based on the unit's armor: [title]Examples: [/title] ■25 armor → ×0.8 incoming physical damage (20% reduction). ■100 armor → ×0.5 incoming physical damage (50% reduction). ■−25 armor → ×1.2 incoming physical damage (20% increase). Every point of armor requires a unit to take 1% more of its maximum health in physical damage to be killed. This is called \"effective health.\" [title]Example:[/title] A unit with 60 armor has 60% of its maximum health in its effective health, so if the unit has 1000 maximum health, it will take 1600 physical damage to kill it. What this means: by definition, armor does not have diminishing returns, because each point increases physical durability by 1% whether the unit has 10 armor or 1000 armor. So with this above information above we can now calculate the items and what they do! -The slow and damage makes it easier to chase down targets and kill them. Gunblade. $3400 45 AD, 65 AP, 20% Spell Vamp, 8% Lifesteal, Bonus 300 magic damage and 50% 3 second slow every 60 seconds. The 45 ad will give Akali 10% more spellvamp. With the item passive you will end up with 25+10+10=45% spellvamp and 8% lifesteal. -Gives your bonus move speed as well as more damage while using your Q, 80 ability power. Liche Bane. $3000 After casting a spell, your next basic attack deals 75% Base AD(+0.5 Ability Power) magic damage. So all in all, when you throw you Q with this item alone, your base damage with your Q is 115 maxed out, plus .50 ap, so half of 80 = 40. So when your throw your Q to mark a enemy it deals 155 magic damage, once you consume this target it will deal an additional (111 your base attack damage) 75% of this, so 83.25 damage with your basic attack as well as another +40 ap damage from the sheen. So total damage out put from this one Q + auto attack would be 123.25 + 155 Equaling: 278.25 Damage alone. Imagine if you had 300 ap to go with this!! If you had 300 ap it would deal 265 (base damage + .50 of ap) + 233.25 ( 75% of your base AD + .50 ap) = 498.25 Damage! This is just your Q + auto attack alone! insane amount of damage.
When your a solo lane(like mid or top) use your Q to last hit but after you get your shroud, you can back off the other person mid so you can farm a little more while they can't. After getting your Q, W, and E, you can now farm like no other while midding early game. I have been out CS'ing other champions mid with Akali very easily due to pushing them away with her shroud, and pokeing them with your Q. After throwing your shroud down, other champions are hesitant to come toward it, but if they are staying around it poke them with your Q, because most people know once marked with it, they know better to back off to avoid the bonus damage. Use your W to escape ganks, I always get my W for my second skill to escape and avoid danger early game. If you mark a enemy champion with your Q, they will most likely back off from you when you throw the shroud, due to the bonus damage it does once you hit them while they are marked. If your vs a ranged champion early on such as: , try to just use your Q to farm safely. Do not let her get easy poke damage off on you or anyone you face that is ranged. Try to avoid and farm safely, by doing this, you sustain your lane, keep up with them cs wise and will not lose EXP early on in the game. Your main objective early game is to: Yes Farm your butt off. You have hardly no kill potential pre 6, unless your jungler ganks or your lane opponent messed up or derped against you. So try to be safe and focus on your farm. Once you get farmed up depending on who you are laning against buy a item that will benefit that lane, for instance, I never go back to buy till i'm at least 6 if I can help it. This will allow you to get your ult stacks up by the time you come back into lane. So if your level 6 and your vs a I would suggest buying on your first back, because you will sustain a lot of his damage, plus doing a lot of burst by yourself with this one item. If your vs a I'd suggest on buying or early on to sustain in lane or sustain their damage. So buy items that is going to allow you to win your lane, if you get fed early then buy a as early as possible and snowball that lane and the game in early game mode.
Akali mid game(Once you have gotten your ) can easily jungle, so while you pushed mid to the enemies turret with your minion wave, you can start taking down wraiths and wolves for more gold. When mid game does come around I start utilizing her ganking abilities, I can easily travel to top or bott, since my shroud will help me avoid danger(If encountered on your way to gank). Akali's allows you to jump into the scene of a fight, which is ideal for ganking. With akali's new buff to shroud you can see through bushes or dark places, so now you can farm even easier while in mid lane. [imgext=http://i44.tinypic.com/63rlnd.jpg] This game I went 31/2/2, and only 148 CS, but I was way to busy demolishing the other team. The one negative game you see is me straying away from the build I made up. With the build i've been using i've went [title]139/26[/title] in the past 8 games. you can look me and and have a gander for yourself. In mid game, try to start roaming to help other lanes out so they can win as well, if other lanes win their lanes, due to your ganks this will allow team fight to go a lot lot smoother, because you are not the only one who is fed/doing damage. At this point you should be harassing your opponent out of lane, or trading with them based on how your early game went. If it's vs an easy lane you should already won that lane and be roaming to help others. If it's vs a tough lane, build for that lane, and try to push them around with jungle help. This way you can cause a lot of pressure in that lane, allowing their jungle to come help and your allies to push/fight that lane, because of them not having jungle help. Pressure pressure pressure is what you need to do early. Do not leave your lane with it being pushed by your opponent, because they will take your tower at this point, if you do leave make sure your lane is pushed or your jungler covers your lane. Ganking will allow you to feed your team to help benefit you all in team fights. So play smart and build for your lane if your having trouble, or snowball build that lane if you dominated it, then help out others to succeed in their lane.
Once late game does start, when everyone is finally starting to team fight and set up for baron, Akali is first an assassin not just a carry. When a team fight is initiated(Once your tank and team start fighting) throw your shroud near the back of the enemy team(Where the ad/ap carry is for safety) and burst them down. Akali can burst down ashe or karthus in a matter of seconds. After you get these kills your Essence of Shadow is restored. So while your getting kills or assists, you can recharge your ult and keep mowing down other enemy champions. If their ad carry flashes out, simply ult to catch back up to them and finish the kill, because you restored another Essence of Shadow and now you can ult back into the fight. [title]Remember[/title] mid and late game you will be focused hard, but with your you can stay safe, but don't ever initiate a team fight, because you will die instantly, let your tank and other initiate then your assassin will truly show in the fight. Soon as this point comes around it is all team fights getting every objective as possible(OBJECTIVES is what your team should focus on all game long), so by doing this your team wins the gold battle and experience battle. So during taking objectives make sure you have wards all around it, showing the enemy team if they even try to come near it to steal. Use pink or sweeper wards to get rid of their vision on the objectives as well. When the fights come along, jump on their carries as soon as you can, by doing this you take them out of the fight obviously. Think about what you just did though: A. You made the fight a 5v4 in about 3 seconds. B. You took out a carry who deals a lot of damage out of the fight. C. You gained another ultimate, now jump to their other carry. This will change all finds around to your teams favor. Kill one carry, jump on another carry, then jump on weaker opponents. Every time you kill someone or get an assist, you gain , which allows you to do more burst damage to help out your team pick of their opponents! If you can successfully take out their ADC/APC right of the bat, within like 5 seconds combined, then pop your zhonyas if needed, you can cause all of their damage to disintegrate. Once you can do this every game depending on how they go, you will win every time, your Goal is to take out their ADC/APC as fast as possible without anyone on your team dying. So use your smarts and pick off their carries ASAP, this way your team will not get demolished in team fights, by their carries. If their carry is just as fed as you are, Who Cares! Jump right onto them, your burst on an ADC is way higher than theirs to you. Take them out of the fight when you can.
When your in lane, notice where their mid comes from like from their blue or red at the beginning of the game. This way you can tell that's where the jungler started, if so around 6:50-7:05 ward their buff where they started, because it will re-appear around 7:10-7:20 mark, this way you can catch him by surprise if he is weak or steal buff with jungler help. If your top notice if they start their blue(Bottom half of the map) at around 3:00-3:30 expect a gank top lane from then after they get their red buff. Just these simple moves can benefit you in lane and can help you secure a victory over the enemy team. When you do begin harassing your lane, if you find yourself getting ganked you can: -Use flash to escape -Use shroud to escape -Use shroud and flash to escape, to get away. -Use your trinket to grant vision on a wraith camp(etc.) to on. -Use your shroud to reveal a wraith camp(etc.) to on. With those above methods it can make you a very very hard person to gank while in lane phase, never push your lane when you have no idea the whereabouts of their jungle, and no vision to see where they are coming from. Everytime you go back to buy, buy and always ward your surroundings, this way your helping out everyone on your team to succeed as well as yourself. Helping others in game will more than likely give you a win! Play smart and have fun. Never harass your team mates on their mistakes, because that's gonna make them mad and play even worse, give them positive feedback and help them in any way you can so that you both can succeed. Once your fed, if you gank other lanes, try giving them some kills to help them out as well, this way late game, you will not be the only fed person on your team when in fights. Akali's Combo Land your , wait for it's cooldown then onto them and burst the mark, then again and AA, then again. Simply do this for massive massive burst damage! Tips If your flash isn't up and they are barely out of your range, ult onto an enemy minion then ult onto the champion(This allows you to chase very very hard) for the secure kill if they are weak enough. Never use all of your abilities/cooldowns on a single target in a team fight, if you are not going to kill them, your ult refreshes on every kill/assist, so make sure you get the easy kills like there: ADCs, APC's, then move to the weaker champions after that!

[title]Pros / Cons: Strength and Weakness![/title] [title]PROS:[/title] [.]High burst damage. [.]Low Cool Downs. [.]Amazing Chaser/Ganker. [.]Ultimate Mid Lane Champion. [.]Great escape. [.]Akali excels at killing weaker characters. Let your team initiate and then strike at the people in the back. [.]Stuns, Snares, Silences will destroy Akali. [.]Struggles in 5vs5 team fights. This is a short video showing you who to target during team fights. Akali can eat a squishy dps character with ease. She can control a fight by doing this. DPS champions like ashe, cait, and vayne are the dps carriers in a game, but Akali can easily control the outcome of a fight by taking these guys out of the fight(so your team is getting mowed down by them). Akali remember comes in burst so once in a fight whoever you mark ult on them chase them down until either dead(or far enough from your team so their not getting destroyed. [title]During group fights[/title] - Wait like the assassin you are, let your team initiate the battle, wait for some of the enemy champions waste some of their skills(like stuns, silences, or snares) after you see some of these casted at your team jump in on their DPS champion(Ashe for instance) pick her off from the fight. Then come back to the fight and finish whoever you want. Akali is one of the best KS'ers in the game(Kill Still) with using her ult. [title]*Note[/title] - In team fights, when your tank initiates the fight Be aware of the ADC, Once you pounce on them you can kill them within seconds of you ulting on them, which completely takes them out of the fight which helps your team out A LOT. Just focus the weaker enemy champions after that.
If you have the 1st pick in a ranked game, try to trade with someone who has 2nd to last pick. Give them a high pick and let them trade with you, so the other team would not really expect you to akali mid or solo top. When mid or top lane, if for some reason you do get Ganked and the person op is up a few kills and some cs, use your shroud to still cs minions(Unless the other person buys a vision ward or has oracle). Take your time, since they are more fed and can probably kill you faster than you can kill them. Buil akali in a way to counter them. Like if your against [imgsmall=champ/leesin.png] who is one of your biggest counters in the game, work on getting some armor like [imgsmall=items/guardian-angel.png], this way even if he does manage to kill you, you can revive and still get away or finish the kill. If mid or top has a vision ward or an oracle you can still effectively win your lane, by throwing your Q at them waiting till it recharges up ult on them and hit them with your Q again, and then ulting out on top of an enemy minion, so you can avoid taking any damage from them at all. If you know it will be difficult to solo against someone like garen or wukong who hti hard as heck, instead of getting [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png] and [imgsmall=items/health-potion3.png] Get [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png] and [imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png] Instead so you can Sustain way longer against them, plus if your runes have flat armor you can very easily keep safe! If you have the 1st pick remeber do not take akali, trade down with someone so the other team can't really counter her with only 1 pick left. This way your being safe and avoiding solong agaisnt a hard counter. Akali usually isn't a top 3 pick so trading with someone is fairly easy. I do this alot in ranked matches. In your lane control it, but do not push it, so no ganks can come your way. If the person your soloing against is a bruiser like [imgsmall=champ/garen.png] or [imgsmall=champ/wukong.png] Build more health and armor like: [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] and [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] to help sustain some of the damage the might afflict on you. -Look at my item build chapter on a heavy ad bruiser lane- for a better idea on it.
So what have we learned? Play smart and work with your team, if your the only one fed, try giving your team some kills, because late game having more than you just fed helps you out A Lot in the long run.
