Hello, i am GothaX, a Gold 3 scrub on EUNE (Ashamed to post screenshot, compared to all deez diamonds <.<) In no way am i saying this guide will bring you to challenger, just that it's a lot of fun and you'll wreak havoc with this build after a few items. Now, what makes this pick good and why you should play it? Rammus naturally counters AD champions, not just auto attack based ones (although not as hard) His Ultimate has the second most base damage, outdamaging Nunu's, Syndra's, Renekton's and Rumble's, losing only to Fiddle's, and it's on a very short cooldown, so you can wave-clear with it and go back.

[title][img=skills/rammus/p.png] Passive: Spiked Shell[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] Not really used with this build although it is helpful. The reason behind is because usual, jungle, tank Rammus just buys every Armor item possible, so the passive really gets into effect, however in this build you do not focus as much on stacking resistances. Helps you early on with CSing though. [title][img=skills/rammus/q.png] Q: Powerball[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] It's a one point wonder. Not really used for damage. Really helpful for getting back to lane and ganking other lanes. You generally don't want to spam this early on due to it's insane mana cost. [title][img=skills/rammus/w.png] W: Defensive Ball Curl[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] Really good, gives you huge resistances, when you have this maxed, it's really hard for the enemy to damage you. Just awesome. If you thought Leona is tanky, you haven't met Rammus. [title][img=skills/rammus/e.png] E: Puncturing Taunt[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] What people don't really know is that this thing reduces Armor/MR so with all the MPen you might even do true damage to squishies. Just taunt the enemy ADC, and watch him die through W + Ultimate in these 3 seconds. Very good spell, max this second most of the times, unless you know your teammate will gank 24/7 OR you are 2-0 by the time you are level 4. [title][img=skills/rammus/r.png] R: Tremors[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] This thing is what gives Rammus insane power spike. At level 1, it gives really nice amount of damage, but at level 11, the damage doubles. You'll see insane spike. Very easy wave clear, huge damage to enemies. Wonderful

[title]Hybrid Pen marks[/title] because of his spells doing magic damage, whilst his passive helping him doing more physical damage via auto attacks. You can also get flat MPen marks, but Hybrid ones help more IMO. If you have trouble last hitting, get AD marks. I do not recommend any other marks. [title] Armor seals[/title] are pretty standard, even against AP's because they auto attack you a lot early on, and it helps in general during mid game. [title]Glyphs[/title], now, against AD lanes you'll want MR/lvl, or flat MR against AP's. That's about it. If all 5 enemies are AD for some reason, AP/LVL or flat Armor, but i really wouldn't get either. [title]Quints, Armor vs AD and MR vs AP.[/title] Again, i don't really recommend putting Rammus vs. AP, but if it's blind pick or you got counter picked, pick those. MS quints are an alternative though. I do not believe Hybrid Pen runes are worth it.

Now, ill explain briefly why i pick every item that i do. [highlight]THE BEST ITEMS[/highlight] [img=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] I get these boots and none other because the damage spike is significantly higher. Sure, Tabi give you a lot more tankyness, and Mobi ones give you a lot more mobility, but you aren't jungling, and you actually have a decent gold income. You can always get Tabi or Mercs but this playstyle doesn't involve being the only tank for the team, which is why it's slightly more damage orientated. [img=items/sunfire-cape.png] This item is god-like on Rammus. Rammus has to use his Ult for a reliable wave clear. He has pretty decent wave clear with his W, especially since most of the time you'll be maxing it first, but it requires your own minions not to be around. This thing allows you to wave-clear and farm much much faster and easier, not to mention the Armor/HP is great. [img=items/randuins-omen.png] This item is also very good on Rammus. The passive/active are very good, and it's simply a really good mix of HP/Armor. You usually get this after your Core, although you can get [img=items/haunting-guise.png] first, then build this item. [img=items/liandrys-torment.png][img=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] These two, the items that make Rammus a god. The Liyandris is a no-brainer, MPen for your W and Ultimate, and the passive will be aplied to the whole enemy team if they are in range of your Ultimate, and unlike with other champion's with AOE Ults, this thing will keep proccing. A highly recommended pick after you pick up some tankyness. Rylais is also great because while the AP isn't the absolute must, it helps out Rammus due to his huge AP scaling on Ultimate and Q, however the great thing is the HP and the slow. Sure, it's not full slow, but you can potentially keep 5 people slowed, it's amazing. The HP is great because while you get flat HP, it's fine with Rammus due to his W. If you simply don't like Rylais, or you need more tankiness, be free to change it with FH/Thornmail/Warmog. This item is more of a personal preference. [img=items/runic-bulwark.png] The MR item. Now, if the enemy team is full AD, or someone with irrelevant AP damage (Say, Maokai jungle or Janna support), you should ofcourse change it with an Armor item, but this is considering a balanced team. If your support or jungler decided to take this, you should skip it in favor of Abyssal Scepter, Spirit Visage, Banshees or just flat out Warmogs. [highlight]SITUATIONAL ITEMS[/highlight] [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] This is a situational MR item with a great passive (at least for Rammus!), however it's more offensive orientated and whilst offering MR, it's not a substantial amount and it offers no HP at all. If you feel you have enough HP, and need a bit more offense whilst having some resistances to mages, go for it. It's by no means a bad pick up, but i wouldn't really rush it, and it's kinda selfish compared to Bulwark (read above for a bit more clearance on this) [img=items/frozen-heart.png] The issue i have with this item is that it offers no HP, so you should have some HP to counteract this weakness, or you'll get flat out fucked by ArPen and Mages. It's a really good pick up against Auto attack orientated teams (Imagine Irelia top, Xin jungle, Jarvan mid and a regular ADC bot), but i would only pick it up after the core items. Omen is better if 1 or 2 people are auto attack reliant, because if you buy FH with only the ADC as an auto attacker, you waste the aura. If you however meet up with a fed ass Trynd, Yi or Vayne, build it anyway, but it's kinda situational and expensive, so yeah. [img=items/warmogs-armor.png] Generally you don't want to rush this or get it amongst the first few items simply because you won't really have the resistances to cover it (W kinda fixes that but we are assuming the fight lasts more than 6 seconds, you are kinda fucked, not to mention regular harass). If you are very behind, try to act like the tank in teamfights, because the HP is a counter to both types of enemies, unlike single type resistances (they are albeit more effective, however also more expensive) Not a recommended buy unless it's a last item or when behind. Omen would do much better against True Damage like Darius and Olaf. [img=items/thornmail.png] It's a very situational item because as stated you are not planning to be the main/sole tank on the team, so, as with FH, if they have fed ass Auto Attack based champs, sure, go for it, but generally there are much better items against AD champs. [highlight] ITEMS NOT RECOMMENDED [/highlight] [img=items/frozen-mallet.png] No. You are not auto attack reliant, Rylais takes care of that and inflicts multiple opponents. The HP is nice but the AD is wasted. Just don't. [img=items/guardian-angel.png] In most cases you won't want this. You are better off building tankyness if you need to survive, especially since you are a champion who actually deals high damage with this build. What this means is you are better off making people focus you while you buy a lot of effective HP, giving your carries time to attack, rather than having them kill your team, then proc your GA, and easily kill you afterwards. [img=items/void-staff.png] Don't. It gives you flat % Damage, and while you'll do more damage to tanks, the Mpen from Masteries, Runes, Sorc, Liyandris, possibly Abyssal AND your Taunt [img=skills/rammus/e.png], it will be more than enough. Not to mention it gives you no defensive stats, which is usually a bad stat unless you are stomping hard, but even so, how often do you get multiple tanks on your team to warrant the additional damage? [img=items/will-of-the-ancients.png] Just don't. Very low spell vamp due to AOE spells, and it gives you no HP/resistance. Bad item , you should be ashamed of yourself if you get this.

I know this guide isn't very detailed due to lack of many chapters (mainly What to do in each stage of the game and match ups, but also broader explanation of items) but i just wanted a general feedback because, i don't really think i am good enough to create a full guide yet. IF you can give me feedback, try this guide out, and let me know if it has any merit or that i just had luck every time, and if it's generally all good i might even expand it.
