Hi, my name's KimYuBin , and this is my first ever guide on solomid.net! I started playing league of legends when season 2 was almost over and I have always loved playing it! [img=http://i.imgur.com/pplhA0M.jpg] My IGN is: SKT T1 KimJungUn. I am a diamond 1 solo que player, maining [img=champ/soraka.png] top, [img=champ/ziggs.png] mid, and [img=champ/leona.png] support. I played Soraka top almost exclusively to make my way from diamond 5 to diamond 1, and I think she's a great champ if played correctly under the right hands, and hopefully this guide helps you climb as well! The reason why I started playing Soraka top was because I wanted to play an unconventional champion, that somehow had a very strong potential in benefiting the team as well as being fun to play! Soraka has an amazing kit and so I decided to try to play her in the top lane. Turns out she's not bad after all! People say [img=champ/soraka.png] does no damage.. It's true there are stronger AP carries than her, but her kit is amazing. She has a (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] that reduces enemy magic resist which is a great synergy with your AP mid laners, especially in consistently long team fights. Why top lane and not mid? The main reason like I said is because I prefer to have a stronger mid laner to carry the games while I can get tanky/AP items and spam (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] to reduce the enemy's MR to increase my mid's damage. Also, the global ult [img=skills/soraka/r.png] from Soraka is still the same whether you're top or mid, and is a great way to heal all your team mates while racking in free assists! For example, when your team is doing dragon, Soraka's (R) [img=skills/soraka/r.png] could be the fight changing ability to give your team the advantage! Once again, I have played Soraka in the top, mid, and support role before and I feel like Soraka in the top lane maximizes her potential, and is the most fun! [img=http://i.imgur.com/p8Ggzvl.png] I am currently ranked 6th in the SkillScore Toplist for Soraka in the North American Server. Pros: -Good Sustain (Heal) -Good consistent damage -Good global ult (Heal) -MR debuff exceptionally good in long team fights -Silence can change the fight -Easy to pick up and master! ( No skill shots ) Cons: -No escape -Slow Base movement speed -Squishy early game, making her vulnerable to early ganks -Long cool downs early game -No burst -Weak 2vs2 all in early game -Small mana problem This video at 3:34 shows people under estimating Soraka's (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] damage. Notice how much damage he did even with the [img=items/dorans-shield.png] start rather than the [img=items/dorans-ring.png] start. [vid=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaPamsbngSM#t=3m34s] Credits to: youtube.com/solwolf for the clip! [img=http://i.imgur.com/wDZPDXo.jpg] [img=http://i.imgur.com/eLWLpj1.png] As you can see, if a champion is played correctly, you can climb the solo que ladder :D If any champion is played correctly, you WILL move up the ladder. These are the changes that went to Soraka in the past patches (majority of them are buffs) v3.15 \"We've got larger plans for Soraka in the long-term but for now, we're giving her some extra survivability and mobility in the laning phase to keep her healthy for the preseason.\" General Base armor increased to 13 (from 9.4) Base movement speed increased to 340 (from 335) v3.14 Summary: Soraka's base health, health per level and base armor are all being increased and she has a new passive that makes her health/mana restoring abilities more effective when the target is missing more health or mana. Starcall now scales its magic resistance shred with ability power and if Soraka hits at least one champion with it, Astral Blessing's cooldown is reduced. Astral Blessing has been changed so its armor buff now scales with ability power. We saw an opportunity to add a new mechanic to Infuse, allowing Soraka to use her own mana as either a donation or for additional damage depending on who she targets. Turns out Wishes should probably not ignore untargetable allies, so now Soraka's ultimate affects everyone on your team. Context: Our changes are focused on giving Soraka additional utility scaling and rewarding tactical plays in the middle of combat. We also introduced more game play to Soraka's kit that promotes that in-combat healing style rather than being a simple health and mana battery. Base Stats Base health increased to 405 (was 375) Health per level increased to 76 (was 71) Base Armor increased to 9.4 (was 7.4) NEW Passive - Salvation NEW: Soraka's health and mana restoring abilities are 1% more effective for each 2% health or mana the target is missing Q- Starcall Magic Resistance shred now scales at +1 Magic Resistance shred per 100 Ability Power (0.01 AP Ratio) Magic Resistance reduction changed to 6 at all levels (+0.01 Ability Power) (from a flat 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12) If Starcall hits at least one enemy champion, Astral Blessing's cooldown is reduced by 5% / 6.25% / 7.5% / 8.75% / 10% Mana cost changed to 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 (was 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 / 80) W - Astral Blessing Bonus armor now scales at +3 Armor per 20 Ability Power (0.15 AP ratio) Bonus armor changed to 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110 (+0.15 Ability Power) (from a flat 25 / 45 / 65 / 85 / 105) Armor duration reduced to 2 seconds (from 3 seconds) Healing reduced to 70 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 270 (+0.35 Ability Power) (from 70 / 140 / 210 / 280 / 350 (+0.45 Ability Power)) Mana cost lowered to 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 (from 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200) E - Infuse Allied cast now gives an ally 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 mana + donates 5% of Soraka's maximum mana (was giving a flat 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 mana for 0 cost) Enemy cast now deals damage equal to 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 + 5% of Soraka's max mana (+0.4 Ability Power) (was 50 / 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 (+0.6 Ability Power)) Can no longer be cast on allies who do not use mana or are already at max mana R – Wish Now affects untargetable allies Healing reduced to 150 / 250 / 350 (+0.55 Ability Power) (from 200 / 320 / 440 (+0.7 Ability Power)) Improved Soraka's running animation v3.13 Wish Mana cost reduced to 100 (from 100/175/250) v1.0.0.152 Base Movement Speed increased by 25. v1.0.0.151 Infuse tooltip now states the correct ability power ratio at 0.6 v1.0.0.148 Soraka has received a visual upgrade. Many patches buffed her base armor, magic resist, and HP stats to help increase her potential in the top lane. There were some nerfs like the increase in the cooldown and range to her (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] but in my opinion, I don't think it's too bad. Many of the buffs to her cooldown like her ult and the scaling to it helped Soraka become a better champion, not only in the support role but for the sustain in the mid/top lane as well. I think Riot did a good job in the buffs/nerfs to Soraka to help her become a strong champion while not being OP at the same time. While playing Soraka, make sure you don't fall behind in the early game because Soraka depends on her core items and tankiness as she scales into the mid/late game. If you are really behind in the early game, it is very important you ask your jungler to come help put pressure so you can farm and get back into the game. [img=skills/soraka/q.png] range is not that long especially after the nerf and you will most likely be in range for the enemy top laners to come and fight you if you try to (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] and farm, because many top laners have a gap closer. (example: [img=champ/renekton.png] [img=champ/irelia.png] [img=champ/riven.png] [img=champ/jax.png]) And when you are behind the enemy top laner in items and gold, it means you won't be able to get in range to farm, and you will most likely lose the top lane pretty hard.

SUSTAIN + POKE COMP [img=champ/nidalee.png] [img=champ/sona.png] [img=champ/jayce.png] If your mid laner is a [img=champ/nidalee.png] this is actually not a bad comp. You two HAVE INSANE sustain with your heals and is a very good poke/sustain/siege comp. When your team gets poked, use your (W) [img=skills/soraka/w.png] to heal the champion, and let [img=champ/nidalee.png] keep spamming her [img=skills/nidalee/q.png] while you guys siege. If she runs out of mana, spam (E) [img=skills/soraka/e.png] to provide her with mana. You shouldn't lose too much mana at this point if you build a mana regen item early on as in [img=items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] or [img=items/chalice-of-harmony.png]. If an enemy does get speared, he/she will most likely go back. It's a good opportunity to fight at this point because it's a 5vs4. Also, [img=champ/nidalee.png]'s heal [img=skills/nidalee/e.png] gives attack speed so it heals and helps you guys push faster. Having [img=champ/sona.png] on your team just increases your team's sustain and siege potential. She isn't as strong as a mid lane AP carry and doesn't heal as much, but it is still a decent comp with [img=champ/soraka.png], and don't forget [img=champ/sona.png] has a good ult [img=skills/sona/r.png]for engage once you guys out sustain and poke them, which is a perfect way to engage the fight. [img=champ/jayce.png] is a very good poke champion and you can provide heal and mana to your team to out sustain him while your [img=champ/jayce.png] pokes them down. Any poke/sustain champion comp is excellent with [img=champ/soraka.png], and I prefer playing with a team comp this. ALL PRAISE FIDDLESTICKS [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] honestly has such a good synergy with [img=champ/soraka.png]. I have always found [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] a very strong jungler/champ, and I think one good [img=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png] could change the game. [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png]'s [img=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png] has a very high base damage and a fed [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] one will do even more damage. If he lands a good [img=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png], your (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] will reduce the enemy's magic resist, making [img=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png] do even more insane damage. Try to get as many (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] as you can to increase the [img=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png] damage and reduce the enemy's magic resist more. The [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] will most likely fear [img=skills/fiddlesticks/q.png] the ADC or APC in the back line, making it a perfect way for you to (E) [img=skills/soraka/e.png] the target after the fear duration or if he [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png] it. It will increase you and your team's chance of killing the carry and help you win the team fights. THE CC TRAIN MADNESS! [img=champ/soraka.png] is also very good with champions that have very good CC. Examples: [img=champ/leona.png],[img=champ/jax.png][img=champ/lissandra.png][img=champ/pantheon.png][img=champ/rammus.png][img=champ/shen.png][img=champ/zyra.png] and many more..the list goes on.. If you time your (E) [img=skills/soraka/e.png] correctly as in to help your team CC the target after, or to silence them after the CC duration is over so they can't escape or [img=summoners/flash.png] away, it will increase your team's potential to kill the champion much more, especially with the 35% slow proc if you have your [img=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] complete. TANK=LONGER FIGHTS=SORAKA OP Having tanky supports/junglers is actually a good thing for a Soraka, especially when you and your mid laner are ahead. In a teamfight, if you have champions like [img=champ/drmundo.png], [img=champ/hecarim.png],[img=champ/olaf.png],[img=champ/volibear.png],[img=champ/zac.png],ETC... (any champions who are able to sustain through fights, tank a lot of damage, extend team fights for a longer duration, this gives Soraka a lot of time to spam and get a lot of [img=skills/soraka/q.png] off, and increase you and your team's AP damage from your mid by a lot more. Therefore, the more tanks and tankier they get, the more (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png] you will get off, the more AP damage your team deals... THE GLOBAL TEAM COMP! [img=champ/shen.png][img=champ/karthus.png][img=champ/twistedfate.png][img=champ/nocturne.png] These champions increase the global impact for your team. They have abilities that can help your team \"globally\" ranging to shielding any ally and teleporting you there, to Sorakas' [img=skills/soraka/r.png] that heals all of your allies by a certain amount. This helps put pressure for your team, helps secure objectives, and globally benefits your team in a certain way depending on what their global ability does. SORAKA VS KARTHUS?? WINNER? SORAKA [img=skills/soraka/r.png] Cooldown: 160 / 145 / 130 seconds Heal: 150 / 250 / 350 (+55% per Ability Power) KARTHUS [img=skills/karthus/r.png] Cost: 150 / 175 / 200 mana Cooldown: 200 / 180 / 160 seconds Magic Damage: 250 / 400 / 550 (+0.6 per Ability Power) It's clear [img=champ/karthus.png] has a better scaling and damage on his [img=skills/karthus/r.png] compared to [img=champ/soraka.png]'s [img=skills/soraka/r.png]. Back before any of these champions were changed, with Soraka's old global MR buff passive, Soraka was actually really strong vs Karthus. Her ult [img=skills/soraka/r.png] would heal more than Karthus' ult [img=skills/karthus/r.png]. Now, even though it's not nearly as close as good as her old form, Soraka's ult [img=skills/soraka/r.png] is the closest thing to counter Karthus' [img=skills/karthus/r.png]. When you see your allies low and Karthus [img=skills/karthus/r.png] to try to get a kill, your [img=skills/soraka/r.png] could potentially save your ally from death. Plus, your ult will come up faster from cool down than his, and so Soraka wins this trade if you guys go 1 for 1 in each other's ults. TBH, Soraka actually excels in almost every team comp because of her amazing kit. She just provides so much for a team, not only in team fights but even from the top lane so called \"island\" because of her ult [img=skills/soraka/r.png] while many of the top laners cannot provide any global or team presence for their team without losing one of their summoner spell to take teleport. If they do take teleport, it just gives you an advantage for you in lane, and a better chance to 1vs1 them with your [img=summoners/ignite.png] and kill them or win trades.

In the early game, don't try to push the lane too hard because Soraka is very vulnerable to ganks, and you will most likely die if the enemy top/jungler have enough burst or CC. Soraka has great sustain with her heal. You should always use your trinket, and buy at least one normal ward every time you go back, to make sure you don't die from ganks. Try to spam (Q) [img=skills/soraka/q.png]as much as possible on the enemy because with the magic resist debuff, you should be able to output consistent damage onto the enemy top laner. If you are getting camped by the enemy jungler, tell your jungler to pressure mid and bot and potentially do an early dragon because Soraka does not have the best kill potential. If your jungler is not strong early game, you will most likely lose 2vs2 skirmishes in the top lane. If you see the enemy jungler ganking your mid or bot, and you know you won't die from your enemy top laner, try to push your waves to the enemy turret, deny the enemy laner cs, or even try to go for a kill if you think you have the potential. Make it worth because this is probably the only times in the game where you can do whatever you want, because if the enemy jungler comes top, you probably don't stand a chance 2vs1ing them, unless your ahead by a LOT or if your jungler counter ganks. * I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS MORE! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AT LEAST 1 [img=items/sight-ward.png] EVERY TIME YOU GO BACK!! SORAKA DOES NOT HAVE AN ESCAPE AND IS VERY IMMOBILE!!!! [img=http://i.imgur.com/AsDBRWC.png]

By mid game, you should have a rylais, and most matchups will start going in your favour. You have a slow, decent amount of hp, heal, silence and consistent damage to keep yourself healthy in the top lane, farm, and win trades. Pay attention to the map, and use your (R) [img=skills/soraka/r.png] properly to help your team win fights, and get objectives. Whether you use your ultimate (R) [img=skills/soraka/r.png] properly in the mid game can determine how your team will transition into the late game phase. If you get an early top turret, you can either keep split pushing top or group with your team and push lanes while out sustaining the enemy team with your heals. If your early game went well, Soraka scales well into mid and late game, and you should be a good factor in team fights for your team. Once again, remember to use your (E) [img=skills/soraka/e.png] wisely, especially on assassins at the right time, because you will most likely only use this ability once or twice depending on how long the team fight lasts.

At this point, you should be pretty tanky. You can output decent damage, heal your allies, silence and slow targets. You should stay grouped with your team and try to force objectives. Remember, use your silence wisely. If you see an ally low and you think he/she can win with your (R) [img=skills/soraka/r.png], don't hesitate to use it. REMEMBER TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE MAP AT ALL TIMES! Remember that in the late game, death timers are very long, and since you have no escape, you should watch where you are going very carefully. Make sure you don't get caught and stay with your team. It is also important that you realize how important dragons are at this stage of the game. Since the dragon scale off the average level of the players in the game, the dragon gives the most gold at this stage of the game where everyone is almost at level 18. DRAGON TIP: If the killing team is lower average level than their opponents, Dragon grants a bonus XP of +25% per average level difference. Getting dragons at this point of the game can be the way to comeback from a losing game and turn the tides. You and your team should focus on this objective, time it properly and try to kill it whenever it is up.

Soraka is beast in long team fights. If she gets enough [img=skills/soraka/q.png] on the enemies, your AP mid laner's damage should increase a good amount. Remember to use your infuse on the enemy wisely, and try to peel for your ADC if not in the front line spamming your[img=skills/soraka/q.png]. Your Astral Blessing and (R) [img=skills/soraka/r.png] should be enough to keep your back line carries healthy enough for them to do their thing. If played properly as such, Soraka is freaken beast in team fights, and is not something to be laughed at! Remember to position yourself in the front line to tank damage, or in the back to peel for your carries. You should most likely use (W) [img=skills/soraka/w.png] on your back line carries to not only heal them, but to give them the armor buff for 2 seconds.

Soraka is very under rated at the moment, and is an excellent top laner if played correctly. I'd like to thank you guys for reading my first guide ever! I hope learned at least a little about Soraka in the top lane, and I hope you enjoy playing her just as much as I do! Try to play her in a couple of normal games before trying out her in ranked. Remember, if you have enough practice, you will climb the ladder. Also remember a tip in solo que is playing your own game and maximizing your individual potential. (Don't rage in solo que) Upvote this if you liked the guide, and feel free to leave comments, I will try to respond to all of them! Thanks again and have a great day summoners! :D Feel free to add me if you want if you have any questions to ask! I am a nice guy and I will try my best to answer your question to the best of my ability!
