Note- This is my first guide and I'm not pro at explaining every little detail, so if you have questions/suggestions, feel free to comment! It's important to know that Viktor is not a hard AP carry and you're not expected to get as many kills as one, so keep that in mind. He is a team fight-based champion and excels in this department. Do not have high expectations with kills while playing Viktor. Aim for assists and not dying, while at the same time keeping your teammates alive and well. It's also critical to realize that if you lose as Viktor and you have high certainty that you did everything you possibly could, yet the team says that you didn't carry hard enough, it's not all your fault as you are NOT the carry some people see Viktor as. Viktor is a ranged mage champion that cuts it close between a half AP carry and a half lane pusher. He can deal massive damage early, but can sometimes fall off as an AP carry later in the game, with his burst combo lacking... well... burst. What I mean is, there are a lot of other AP carries with a ton more burst damage. However, he makes up for it by transforming into an AoE utility-harasser and is a key champion to winning team fights. He can also easily melt and poke squishies from a distance if his [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] is used correctly. Not a very versatile champion though, with one item slot already taken up. It forces you to build him in a specific manner. Also, make sure you're in as many team fights as possible!!! You'll understand why after reading the guide. :P Oh and I usually play him mid.

Just a few words about my choices of runes. The Glyphs, Quints, and Marks are obvious choices. I used Greater Seals of Replenishment because Viktor's moves consume an unhealthy amount of mana, and the mana pool you have just isn't enough to keep your harass up for very long. With Viktor being someone who needs to constantly cast and harass in order to dominate lane and farm, mana is essential for him. However, if you think you can rely on the jungler to give you blue buff early, then feel free to replace them with Greater Seals of Force. You may also take Seals of Force if you would rather take an Augment of Gravity instead of the other two, which I do not recommend.

[center][title][img=skills/viktor/p.png] Passive: Evolving Technology[/title] [number]Viktor starts with a Hex Core that provides him with stats and can be upgraded in the store to augment one of his abilities. The Hex Core can only be upgraded once, and cannot be sold back to the store.[/number][/center] [center][title]Explanation:[/title][/center] Don't take this passive lightly. It may take up an item slot, but it is totally worth it. The evolutions for this item are worth far more than they cost. Look under Summoner Spells section to see the evolutions. [center][title][img=skills/viktor/q.png] Q: Power Transfer[/title] [number]Viktor blasts an enemy unit dealing magic damage, returning a portion of the damage dealt as a shield.[/number] [highlight]Cost: 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 mana Cooldown: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 seconds Magic Damage: 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+0.65 per ability power) Range: 600[/highlight][/center] [center][title]Explanation:[/title][/center] Max this out first. Essential poke tool and can give you enough of a shield for a couple auto attacks when laning (careful when doing this, thought). The shield lasts approximately 4.5 seconds when it appears and the cooldown on this skill is relatively short. Note that the shield gained is 40% of the damage dealt. [center][title][img=skills/viktor/w.png] W: Gravity Field[/title] [number]Viktor conjures a heavy gravitational field that slows any target in its radius. If enemies stay too long within the radius of the device, they get stunned.[/number] [highlight]Cost: 65 Mana at all levels Cooldown: 17 / 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 seconds Slow: 28 / 32 / 36 / 40 / 44 % Range: 625 (812.5 with Augment of Gravity)[/center][/highlight] [center][title]Explanation:[/title][/center] Awesome CC. Just. Awesome. Put one point into this and leave it as your last skill to lvl. Viktor is more useful with damage output, and this doesn't do any. Still a very good CC at skill lvl 1, even in early team fights. [center][title][img=skills/viktor/e.png] E: Death Ray[/title] [number]Viktor uses his robotic arm to fire a chaos beam that cuts across the field in a lane, dealing damage to any opponenets struck in its path.[/number] [highlight]Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 mana Cooldown: 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 seconds Magic Damage: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+0.7 per ability power) Range: 700 (Not sure about exact range, but it's probably around 1,500 if you extend the beam outwards)[/highlight][/center] [center][title]Explanation:[/title][/center] Excellent poke tool. It's range is great, especially if you extend the beam outwards. Few can outrange this skill. It's also great for farming minions. This single skill alone is probably the main reason why Viktor is a notable pusher. It scales better than Power Transfer, but costs a ton more mana and can easily miss if you aren't an expert at directional skills like with [imgsmall=champ/rumble.png]'s ultimate. Maxing this out first is not recommended for these reasons, and besides, Power Transfer grants you a shield for more lane sustainability anyway. It's better to max this out second when you have a larger mana pool and more AP (for a better, more noticeable difference in scaling). [center][title][img=skills/viktor/r.png] R: Chaos Storm[/title] [number]Viktor conjures a singularity on the field which deals magic damage and briefly silences enemies. The singularity then does magic damage to all nearby enemies every second. Viktor can redirect the singularity.[/number] [highlight]Cost: 125 / 175 / 225 mana Cooldown: 120 seconds Initial Magic Damage: 150 / 250 / 350 (+0.55 per ability power) Continuous Magic Damage: 40 / 60 / 80 (+0.2 per ability power) Range: 700[/highlight][/center] [center][title]Explanation:[/title][/center] It's a cool ultimate... and probably my favorite in terms of flashiness. I mean, come on, it looks like a dark hole surrounded by a miniature hurricane! Anyway, it's a good ultimate to use in the middle of a team fight, silencing enemies caught in the area where you summoned it for 0.5 seconds each. Try to land it above at least two enemies to make full use of the damage and silence. It will also follow an enemy champion if it lands on one (not yet sure if it's random or systematical), while dealing damage to all surrounding enemies for 7 seconds. This skill is very powerful for team fights in combination with [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]

[center] [highlight][title]Order of Items[/title][/highlight] I personally start off with [imgsmall=items/dorans-ring.png] since I don't need to use [imgsmall=items/health-potion.png] as much with my [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png]'s shield. The extra AP, mana regen, and HP is too much to pass up. Afterwards, I take [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] for lane sustainability and either finish it into a [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png] immediately or get [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png] first, depending on how farmed I am. If I have to go back before I can afford [imgsmall=items/blasting-wand.png] or the full [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png], then I go with [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png] and finish [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png]. Afterwards, I finish [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] and grab the Augment of my choice around this time. Then, I try to get [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] as soon as possible to make full use of [imgsmall=skills/viktor/r.png] (and all the other skills of course) in team fights. [imgsmall=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] is next for obvious reasons. The last item depends on a few factors, shown below. [highlight][title]Final Situational Items[/title][/highlight] [img=items/void-staff.png] -You're the only AP carry on your team or the majority of your team is AD. -Enemy team lacks magic damage and/or has underfed AP carries. -Enemy team is extremely tanky and requires serious magic penetration. [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] -A majority of your team is heavily dependent on magic damage. -Enemy team lacks a tank with heavy magic resist. -Enemy team lacks a tank (you still haven't won? Wow). -Enemy team has heavy AP carries. The extra magic resist will do wonders. -Your team asks you to. Just do it. They'll hate you if you don't. :) Tip: If someone on your team already has it or plans on getting it, then don't take it. [img=items/will-of-the-ancients.png] A very situational item! -Enemy team isn't focusing you during team fights -Almost everyone on your team benefits from the passive -Enemy team has little damage output (multiple tanks/supports/utility) -Your team asks you to. Once again, no one likes being hated. :P Tip: This item should either replace [imgsmall=items/abyssal-scepter.png]/[imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] or [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]. Once again, I urge you not to get this item, as it's probably better with someone else on the team and you'll need magic penetration and [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] more. However, if your must, then choose carefully on which item to replace with it. [img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] -Hard AD carries on the other team -Their AD carry is getting really out of hand -You're being focused by the other team (mostly by their AD, but in general, you can use the active skill to be protected from high burst APs such as Veigar) [title]Top it all off with[/title] [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-brilliance.png][imgsmall=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png][imgsmall=items/elixir-of-agility.png] Of course Elixer of Brilliance is most important, but if the game really lasts that long, then hey, why not take the other two? Note: Your cooldowns are very tolerable during/after mid-game, so don't freak out about not buying a [imgsmall=items/morellos-evil-tome.png]. If you're really that worried about cooldowns, you might as well take [imgsmall=items/deathfire-grasp.png] in place of [imgsmall=items/abyssal-scepter.png] or [imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] so you can take down HP hogs if your team can't handle them.[/center]

[title][center]Some Ending Tips [/center][/title] [number] [.]Use [imgsmall=skills/viktor/q.png] to farm if you can't get too close to who you're laning against. With this build, mana should not be a huge problem. [.]Remember that you should also try to farm with [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] while you're poking the enemy. Most people feel safe hiding behind minions... we'll show them! [.]If you're going to take Augment of Power, then you don't have to finish your [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] until after [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png]. Basically, the order of items would be [imgsmall=items/dorans-ring.png]>[imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png]>[imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png]>Augment of Power>[imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png]. [.]I do not recommend maxing [imgsmall=skills/viktor/e.png] first unless you're really getting zoned out in mid or solo top. Honestly, if you're somehow stuck laning bottom duo, then take this skill first and max it first as well, as you can hit minions and both enemy champions with one skill and stay at a distance at the same time. [/number] [.]Updated Monday, January 2, 2012: [imgsmall=champ/other.png] -Finished up some loose ends on Masteries and Item Builds sections. -Added the Optional/Situational items to the basic Item Build section. -Fixed a few grammatical errors. [.]Updated Tuesday, January 3, 2012: [imgsmall=champ/other.png] -Added explanation of how [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] can be an optional item. [.]Updated Wednesday, January 4, 2012: [imgsmall=champ/other.png] -Edited the introduction to explain Viktor's role in game a little bit further. [.]Updated Thursday, January 5, 2012: [imgsmall=champ/other.png] -Accidentally put [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png] after Augment of Power in the sequence of items under one of the Final Comment's End Tips. Now fixed.
