Annie is clearly my favorite AP champion, because she requires some tactical skills to perform well but excels at taking out squishy carrys. She is one of the most balanced champs in the game, try to think of a real change (on her numbers, ratios, basedmg etc) to her in the last couple months... She's definitely the cutest champion in the league and although her AP ratios are quite low compared to other casters her, skills' basic dmg provide her with enourmous nuke power. I think she shines early- and midgame mainly because people don't have much survivability/banshees yet. In higher elo games or against smart people the lategame separates the men from the boys as it requires perfect postitioning and extremely cautious and smart play. Also for those who care about Tierlists go check 'em, you will find Annie in the top tiers in most of them.

Ingame quick reference for those who run a dual monitor setup or tab out of game quickly to check items/skills. It's work in progress so i'll mention the changes here. 04-14-2011 To-Do list: [.] clearing spelling/grammar mistakes (not native american/english) [.] Add more situational items (DFG,will of the ancients, more defensive choices) [.] Add other rune options [.] Add other summoner options [.] Add cool screenshots/videos 04-14-2011: changed the skill order to include Molten Shield on lvl 8 and added a comment in skill order section. Thanks to Messiah! 04-15-2011: added a note about laning behaviour when facing a team with a jungler. Thanks to Leer!

[imgext=] Explanation: Greater Marks of Insight - Magic Pen since Annie's AP ratios are low, Magic pen helps her a lot so these are a must-have. Greater Seals of Clarity - Mana regen/5 sec. per lvl cause her skills are fairly expensive (except [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] obviously) and these babies kick in midgame exactly where you need the mana regen. Greater Glyphs of Focus - Flat cooldown together with your masteries provide around 15% cooldown reduction (14.89 to be exact) allowing you to spam those Qs early-game and a late-game blue buff will get you close to the 40% cap. Greater Quintessences of Fortitude - Flat health to fix your early survivability issues before you get items to help with that.

[title][img=skills/annie/p.png] Passive: Pyromania[/title] [number]After casting 5 spells, Annie's next spell will stun the target for 1.75 seconds.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is what makes Annie viable. Use this early game to harass your enemy with stun [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] followed up by [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png]. Lategame you can use [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] to charge your stun. Also note that it says "next offensive spell" (hint hint somebody should edit that in the database maybe). So your [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] wont be effected by the stun and your next offensive ability will stun instead. [title][img=skills/annie/q.png] Q: Disintegrate[/title] [number]Annie flings a mana infused fireball dealing 90 / 130 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+60% of ability power) magic damage. Disintegrate's mana cost is refunded if it deals a killing blow. Cooldown 4seconds Cost 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120mana Range 625[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Use this to mana-free last hit early game like a beast. The low cooldown is great for charging up your stun and harass early. Reading other guides i often see people recommending to max [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] over [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] but i think Disintegrate is at least as good as Incinerate if not better. It's cooldown is half as long as [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] so theoretically you can use it twice as much but [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] doesn't do twice the dmg. [title][img=skills/annie/w.png] W: Incinerate[/title] [number]Annie casts a cone of fire dealing 85 / 145 / 205 / 265 / 325 (+60% of ability power) magic damage to all enemy targets in the area. Cooldown 8seconds Cost 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160mana Range 625[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] The base dmg on this skill is truly amazing and the AoE cone range is often underestimated by your opponents. Use this to AoE stun multiple champions if [imgsmall=skills/annie/r.png] is on cooldown or to farm minions like crazy (only if you have blue buff, as it is rather mana expensive). While laning you wanna use [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] to stun your enemy first and then [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] to make sure you hit the target and he wont move out of your cone range. We want to max this together with [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] first to make the most of the high base dmg. [title][img=skills/annie/e.png] E: Molten Shield[/title] [number]Places a shield around Annie for 15 seconds, increasing her armor and magic resistance by 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50. Deals 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+20% of ability power) magic damage to enemies who attack Annie with melee attacks. Cooldown 30seconds Cost 25mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] I really don't think this is anywhere as useful as the other skills cause it just counts for standard attack (not skills). As Annie you don't wanna get hit ever and if you do get hit it's dmg is only significant if maxed. You can take 1 point on level 5 though if you lane against some dashing/jumping melee champ (like Jax, Irelia or Renekton) [title][img=skills/annie/r.png] R: Summon: Tibbers[/title] [number]Deals 200 / 325 / 450 (+70% of ability power) magic damage to units in the target area and summons Annie's bear, Tibbers, to destroy her enemies. Tibbers has 1200 / 1600 / 2000 health and 80 / 105 / 130 attack damage, and continually deals magic damage to surrounding enemies. Cooldown 120seconds Cost 150 / 200 / 250mana Range 600[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Tibbers is the reason we all love Annie. If this is up and your stun is charged this hits like a truck. People tend to underestimate Tibbers dmg and AoE dmg. His auto attacks hit pretty hard early-midgame and his AoE dmg is comparable to a [imgsmall=items/sunfire-cape.png]. Use Alt+click to move him around, secure kills with auto attacks, deal damage with his AoE, tank turrets or farm minions.

[imgext=] This is the skill order i use. I max [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] and [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] together and get [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] last. If you face lots of close combat champs with dashes (irelia, akali, renekton etc.) you can get 1 lvl in [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] on lvl 5. If you don't get [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] on lvl 5 get it on lvl 8 so you can quickly charge up your [imgsmall=skills/annie/p.png] in teamfight situations. I dont max Incinerate straight up like some of you would maybe suggest (seen many guides recommending it) because Disintegrates cooldown is half as long as [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png]s so basically you get to [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] twice as much in a fight and mostly just [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] once so getting points in [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] will greatly increase your farming early- and damage midgame.

So the basic idea for making Annies item choices comes down to 3 goals: [.] to provide her with the survivability she needs lategame [.] to make sure her combo hits like a truck, achieving that with magic pen [.] to get a little AP to keep her dmg up lategame Build order: Start with [imgsmall=items/sapphire-crystal.png]+[imgsmall=items/health-potion2.png]. On your first trip back you should be able to buy [imgsmall=items/catalyst-the-protector.png] and [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png]. Depending on your gold on the next trip back get either [imgsmall=items/rod-of-ages.png] or [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png]. If you've finished those two adapt your next choices to the team you face. You should get [imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png] or a defensive alternative as 4th item. [title]Core: [/title] [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] - Great survivability, decent amount of Ap. Exactly what we want. Get this before 25 to be sure the effect kicks in in time [img=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] - Together with your magic pen runes this helps to break most tanks early magic resist [img=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] OR [img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] - I prefer the hourglass for its survivability in 5v5 teamfights [img=items/banshees-veil.png] - Lategame to save you from unpleasant stuns/snares [title]Situational:[/title] [img=items/void-staff.png] - If enemy has lots of magic resist this is a must [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] - If you face lots of casters get this! if they're smart they'll focus you. [img=items/mercurys-treads.png] - If the enemy team has tons of cc and your team wont be that protective get these. [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png] - The only thing removing suppression (like warwick or malzahars ulti) [title]Rather not to get:[/title] [img=items/mejais-soulstealer.png] - In solo que you cant rely on your team to protect you and keep you alive. [img=items/morellos-evil-tome.png] - Great item for many casters but not for Annie. Mana Reg and CDR are covered by runes+masteries. More item choices soonâ„¢

Obviously you want to play Annie solomid to gain lvl advantage and kill your opponent fast. Harass him with charged stun [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] + [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] and if you don't manage to kill him earlier finish him off at lvl 6 with a Tibbers-combo +[imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] So now 2 things can happen: a) Your opponent is playing defensively and passive now since he saw ur burst potential or b) He's mad and after buying some dmg item now keeps playing aggressively and trys to harass you well heres what you wanna do in each case: a) Push the lane as hard as you can without wasting too much mana (use your Q) and try to harass him as much as you can and force him to bluepill in fear of your next combo, if he does go gank one of the sidelanes. Pick the sidelane with the squishier champs and just combo the sh*t out of the lower one of the two. Reply "thanks, u2" to the "gj Annie!" you get, bluepill and repeat. b) Play passively and last hit with your [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] to charge up stun. Try to Harass with stun [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png]+[imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] once in a while to keep him a little low for your next combo. Wait for [imgsmall=skills/annie/r.png] cooldown to come off and combo him. He'll either die or barely survive. So now take a look at the sidelanes and your mana and try to gank again. Note: If the enemy team has a jungler don't be aggressive like in case a). When you face a team with a jungler you basically never want to push your lane, because that would force you to overextend to get xp and lasthits and that's exactly what the junglers wait for. You should just lasthit with your [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] and be extremely cautious until you have vision of the brushes nearby ([imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png]) also wait with your combo-kill attempt till you know where their jungler is (look at the minimap regularly and wait till either till he shows up or you went back and bought 2 wards to make sure you're safe) Crucial for farming is one of your teammates helping you to get the bluebuff (i think if you ask politely most smart people will help you) so you can spam your [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] for caster minions and [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] to finish off half hp melee minions.

This is the phase of the game that requires skill to perform good as Annie. You should always stay with your team/some babysitter with CC. Since the ranges of your skills are rather short you have to be extremely cautious and postion well in a teamfight situation. You should also make sure to get the blue buff before the teamfight starts cause otherwise you might find yourself without any mana left to chase the last survivors after you blew your combo + 3x[imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] and 2x[imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] in that teamfight. In teamfights you wanna AoE [imgsmall=skills/annie/r.png] stun as many as you can followed by a [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png], repositioning, another[imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] on a carry/squishy, a [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] to charge your stun, [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png]-stun, another [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] etc. etc.

I think the term "easy to learn hard to master" fits Annie pretty nicely. To do well with her in low elo soloqueue it doesn't take much experience, just read a good guide (like this one *cough cough* hehe) and you will most likely dominate the game. But to do well with her in high elo games you need to play smart and safe and you need a good support/tank. She shines early- and midgame but loses viability lategame (due to being extremely squishy and smart people getting [imgsmall=items/banshees-veil.png] which is a pretty hardcounter to Annie) Well thanks for reading this far! I hope this helps players who have experienced Annie's potential and want to try her out. Oh and you sure are welcome to leave critique, questions, tips or just point out spelling/grammar mistakes :) Have fun and rape faces with Annie and watch your enemys cry when they're "beaten by a little girl, HA!"
