*I MIGHT ADD A CHAMPION MATCHUP SECTION SOON BUT FOR THE TIME BEING YOU CAN GO ON AND LOOK AT THE COMMENTS FOR DIFFERENT MATCHUPS AND SEE IF THEY HELP* Hello and welcome to my guide. In this guide I will try to cover most of the things you might want to know about and how to play . My Summoner Name is Mazubu on EUW and this is my first ever guide on I mained for a very long time and this is why I feel I want to make a guide on how to play him which will hopefully be helpful. is a very versatile champion but I prefer to play in the top lane for many reasons. is naturally tanky due to his scaling off armour and his as it scales off Maximum Health. He also has an amazing game changing Ultimate, , which is mostly used as an initiation tool so it would make sense if he was a Tank so he can soak up all the damage from the enemies. This is why I like to play as a Tank. This is also used as an escape mechanism as well. Why play ? Pros [.]Ultimate scales off 100% of AP. [.]Becomes very Tanky late game if you are following my build. [.]Nice Initiation tool with . [.] is also a great escape skill. [.]Decent CC with Q and Ultimate. [.]Built-in Shield from Passive. [.]His E Scales off Armour. [.]He can beat nearly everyone in lane. [.]Not very easy to kill Cons [.]He can struggle with Mana early. [.]His is not instant like Flash. [.]No good escapes like a dash pre 6 except Q. [.]Can dodge his with Flash or Ability. [.]Can lack damage if you just build Tanky. If you are not familiar with top lane here is a video about the basics. [vid=] Credit to for the video If you don't want to watch the video then here is an overview: [.] Champions you want to play top lane are usually Tanky Bruisers and Casters with sustain. [.] The most common Summoner Spells to use while top lane are , and . [.] If you are losing a trade then back off. [.] If you are winning trades then keep at it and force them out of lane. [.] Always keep the river warded so you are safe from ganks. [.] Farm as much as possible.

[.] Use on Minions to catch up to Champions or to escape bad situations. [.] When your Passive is down stay behind your Minions or wait in a bush until it comes back up so trading is easier. [.] Use on as many Champions as possible in team fights. [.] Try and use before because it will do more damage due to the increased armour. [.] Try and use as often as possible, especially at bot lane as is a great diver. [.] Practice in custom games to try out different things such as builds and combos to see what you like best. [.] Try to peel for your ADC or APC in team fights after using on multiple people. [.] Your scales off armour so try and build as much armour as possible to maximize it's damage. [.] Try not to pick into AP Champions unless you have a team that works really well with. [.] Pick into Attack Speed reliant Champions such as , and .

The following Champions work very well with in terms of team fights. In shorts terms, goes well will pretty much anyone who has a lot of AOE skills and are able to quickly follow up on his . - One of the best Champions to pick with. When Malphite uses on multiple enemies then can use to istantly dash to them and knock them all up again which gives your team time to finish them all off. This is a very good combination along with other AOE Champions. - This is also a very good pick with as can use her on and then uses on multiple enemies and then uses her to pull everyone into and deal tons of damage. If you used before using then the Shockwave from will be emitted as soon as uses for a double Shockwave which will make it very easy for the rest of your team to finish them off. - This one is fairly obvious. When you use , follows that very quickly with her , and then . This will make it very easy for to deal all of her damage while not being interrupted as knocks them up for 1.5 seconds. This is really helpful as won't be damaged and will get her resets quicker to finish people off. - These two champions are really good together. using will make it very easy for to use and follow that with . This is a total of 3.5 seconds of them being able to do nothing which will almost certainly make you win the fight. This is extremely good with other AOE Champions that can follow quickly. - This is also a good synergy. can use to help engage easier. When uses , can then use on to knock them up for a second time and this will make pretty much impossible to kill. This is especially good if it is full AP mid. There are a lot more Champions that are really good with but these are probably the main ones. Basically everyone with an AOE ultimate such as , , and synergies with well.

In the early game you just want to focus on farming and warding. Make sure you don't push the lane so you can set up ganks for your Jungler. Early game is very boring for as he doesn't deal enough damage to kill your opponent and they probably won't be able to kill you either. Against melee Champions it's very simple, just wait until they go for a last hit and use your and a few auto attacks, they probably won't be able to trade as much damage because of the reduced Attack Speed and your Passive, . Against ranged Champions use your when they go for a last hit and then run away. They won't be able to do any damage back because of the Movement Speed gives you. Keep doing this but make sure not to over use it as it uses up a lot of Mana quickly. Don't push the lane without any wards. If you have a ward in the river then you can harass them under tower with your , but keep a eye out for anyone stepping on the ward. Wards save lives. When you hit level 6 you can call for a gank. It is almost certain you will get a kill with available as you have a lot of damage from your Runes and Masteries. Don't use your straight away, engage with first and then when you get right on them activate and then and if they have flash, wait for them to use it and then use . All this combined with the Junglers damage should secure a kill. After you get a kill, push the wave and then recall. You should have enough Gold to buy a few Items such as , , 's and maybe a . You can back to lane to get a bigger advantage or you can walk to lane and save it for maybe a gank at bot lane or an early Dragon.

Mid game is where most of the action happens. By now you should have a few core Items such as , and depending on how many kills you got during the early game. You will probably still be laning at around level 11 and this is when you want to be destroying the enemies first tower. When you have destroyed their tower look to gank other lanes like mid lane and try and get your mid laner fed. You can also set up ganks bot depending on how much they are winning or loosing and if your Jungler is already ganking bot a lot. When their bot tower is destroyed you can all group to get Dragon or push mid and maybe even start a fight which you will probably win. Which will make your even stronger. If this is going the complete opposite and you are getting destroyed just play it safe and try and catch people off guard to try and make a comeback. Whenever you have up always try and look for opportunities to potentially get some kills. You can also use to get back to lane if their top laner is pushing to try and destroy your tower. If any Jungle camps aren't being taken then you can always take them. Only take the small camps though as blue buff and red buff can be more useful on someone else and you don't really need them anyway.

By now you should have most of your Items complete. For example , , , and maybe . If you are really fed then you might have a full build. During most of late game you want to be grouped with your team but not too close if the enemy team have a lot of AOE Champions. Such as a team like this: , , , and . Try to force as many fights as possible if you have a stronger team fighting team at places like Baron and Dragon. Try to get as many Dragons as possible as they can increase the chances of you winning dramatically. If you end up getting Baron, use the most out of it and push mid lane or a lane which has the most towers still up. Keep doing this until you are strong enough to easily end the game. If you are heavily behind then just wait for opportunities to catch people out like in mid game. Even if they are really ahead like a score of 12 kills to 29 you can still win the game if you end up catching 2 or 3 people out when all 5 of you are grouped which is really easy as you are playing . If they won't separate then just wait it out and hope they make a bad play to make you win the game. Don't try and contest for Dragon or Baron if they are really ahead as they will just get more kills and get stronger. Only contest if you know you can get some kills and maybe steal Dragon or Baron. Here is an image showing the best warding spots. I know this is outdated but the map is pretty much the same now so I don't feel the need to update it. I would put credit to the person who created this image but I can't find the owner.

Your job in team fights while playing is very simple. You have 1 of 2 jobs, you can either protect your carry's or try and kill theirs. If you are really fed them I would suggest trying to kill their Carry's especially if they have no escape except from such as , , and . If you are about even or behind then I would just peel for your Carry's and make then deal as much damage as possible by keeping them alive as they will deal more damage than you. If they are really grouped together then use your to knock up as many Champions as possible because using on multiple people is a lot better then ulting 1 or 2 people. Don't use your as soon as you see the enemy team in the same location, wait it out and look for the best opportunity to use as it could decide the game whether it was in a good position or not. Using right before you use is a very good idea as the shockwave will be emitted as soon as you knock them up.

This is a top lane guide so I won't go into much detail here, I will just cover the basics. As is a very versatile Champion, this allows him to be played as a Jungler. He has a lot of AOE damage so clearing the camps will be very easy for him. He also has amazing gank potential with his and . His passive also help a lot as it will block a lot of damage from the camps and will allow you to sustain the jungle for a longer time and it will come back up each time you go to a different camp which is really helpful. Being a Tanky Jungler will allow solo laners to pick more damage based Champions such as mid and top. Runes: I run these Runes on jungle because I think he benefits from them the most. I go 9 flat Armour Seals because I believe they are mandatory because all jungle camps do physical damage. I go Magic Resist Per Level Glyphs because jungle camps don't do magic damage and it will make me a lot Tankier late game. For Marks I go Attack Damage because I don't really need Armour Pen/Magic Pen Marks. Finally I go Attack Speed for my Quintessences for faster clearing as doesn't have that much Attack Speed. It will also allow you to get more auto attacks off when you activate your . Masteries: I play as a Tank so I go 9/21/0 still. I believe these are the best Masteries to use when you are playing an AP tank in the jungle I use the same points in the Offensive tree, However, I take 2 points in Tough Skin and 1 point in Bladed Armour so I will deal more damage to the camps and take less damage from them. This will allow me to stay in the jungle for longer. Summoner Spells: - Will allow you to escape bad situations as well as get close to your enemies. along with your will make you close a big gap between your enemies which makes a very good ganker. - The obvious spell for a Jungler. This will make clearing camps very easy and will make you get the extra buffs from camps. It will also make it very easy to secure Dragon and Baron. Skill Order: Skilling your at level 1 will help you clear the first camp really quickly as it deals AOE damage and slows the monsters Attack Speed which will reduce their damage to you drastically. It also has the lowest Cooldown so you can use it quicker. Then get at level 2 for even more AOE damage and Tankiness. Max your first as you won't be using that much in the Jungle. Follow that with , and then . Starting Items: This is what you start with on every Jungler. The extra magic damage that your auto attacks do will make you clear the camps faster and the Gold that you get will allow you to get your main Items a lot quicker. The Health Potions will give you a lot of sustain so you can clear more camps. On your first back you will want to buy and or . If you end up getting a kill or two somehow before your first back then get if you have enough. Core Items: Getting Cinderhulk as your Enchantment is the best option as you are a Tank. It is probably the best Enchantment you can get anyway because of the percentage bonus health it gives you. will allow you to Gank a lot easier and engage team fights and will provide you will a lot of sustain. The next Item you get depends on what damage the enemy team deal the most. If they deal more magic damage, get first but if they deal more physical damage, get first. Then follow which Item you get first with the other Item. Full Build: This build will make you pretty much impossible to kill late game because of all the defences it gives. All the health you get along with the Cinderhulk Enchantment will give you a lot more health which will increase your shield amount by a lot as it scales off health. You don't get much damage from this build but you don't need any damage. Your job is to just soak up as much damage as possible as dive their back line. You can peel for your Carries instead if they are really fed after using on their team. Situational Items: - If your support doesn't get this then get it instead of . Getting this will help your team out a lot in team fights, especially against AP burst Champions. - Get this instead of if they have a more AP based team and you need the extra damage because you don't build any other damage Item. - If there is 3 or more AD Champions on their team then I would probably get this instead of . will reduce their damage to you dramatically and increase your damage output. Jungle route: I have made a quick and simple guide on this image of the camps so you have a better understanding of what to do and where to start, it is from the blue sides perspective but it will be the same for the other side. First off, and kill Gromp so you get the buff and then get blue buff. You can wait for your shield to come back up if you want. It is important that you start on the blue buff side because can run out of Mana very quickly so it would be best to get blue buff early. After you have cleared all the camps on your side, Recall and get and . After this, look for opportunities to Gank any lane. If you can't Gank any lane then just wait till you are level 6 and then Gank. will make it very easy to secure a kill. Also try to counter Gank if you know where the enemy Jungler is, they will not expect it and you might get a kill out of it. is not the best counter Jungler in the game but always try and steal any camps if you can, this will delay them experience and you will get ahead.

There is a world of perfect harmony, where all are part of the whole. The Monolith is the essence of all creation, and its denizens are but singular pieces of it. It is beautiful in its symmetry, and in its almost complete lack of uncertainty. The rocky beings that live there know their place and work to fulfill their duties to the fullest extent, functioning almost as a superorganism or hive. Malphite has always strived to live up to his full potential, as his own personal part of the whole, serving the role of a distinguished creature questing to enforce his people's flawless vision of order. One day, without warning, a dimensional rift opened, and he was summoned across the cosmos to the world of Runeterra. The transition was painful and terrifying for him, as he was cut off from the song of his people and the Monolith - things that had been ever-present in him since the day he was born. He raged, trapped in the Summoning Circle, as those who had called him made their plea. Runeterra was a world that had nearly been consumed by its disharmony. It was a world that needed champions to bring order out of chaos. It was to that end that the rock-creature was summoned, so that he could aid them in this quest. Looking past his own fear and apprehension, Malphite could see that this was a respectable goal, and one in which he could participate - perhaps uniquely so. Today, as part of the League of Legends, he hammers those who would seek to upset Valoran's movement toward order, especially turning his attention to those that wield chaotic magic. Unfortunately, Malphite has also begun to change, as he has been forced to face his own profound loneliness among the world's vibrant individuality. Beware, minions of chaos! The Shard of the Monolith has come.

In this chapter I will add what I have updated on specific days when a change has happened that could potentially affect or if I need to just update a section. The change log starts from 30/05/2015. 30/05/2015 - I have added the chapters 'Malphite's Synergies' and 'Tips and Tricks'. 31/05/2015 - Updated the 'Runes' section. 09/06/2015 - Added and to the 'Situational Items' chapter. 21/06/2015 - Added the 'Jungle Malphite' Section

I hope you have learnt something from this guide and have a better understanding of how to play as a tank in the top lane. I have tried my best to include everything I know. This is my first ever guide so please don't sent any hate comments but if I have made any mistakes in spelling or if something doesn't make any sense, I am sorry and put the error in the comment section so I can improve my guide. I will be looking at this guide regularly so put any suggestions or questions in the comment section and I will happily answer them. Thanks for reading this guide and Good luck playing . Here is some music while you are playing as well: [vid=] Credit to for making the video
