As of now, Kha'zix is an unremarkable champion in the public eye. He is mainly played as a solo top or jungle champion, and is outclassed in both positions. In mid lane however, he is able to compete with many champions, farm well, and accomplish his goal of assassinating high priority targets come late game.

[highlight][title]VS Ranged AP[/title][/highlight] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/JLFOB.png?1] [highlight]Marks:[/highlight]Flat attack damage allows for early dominance in the laning phase. If Kha'zix manages to get ahead in lane, there is little the enemy mid can do against him without help from their jungler. [highlight]Seals:[/highlight] Most AP mid champs are ranged, so when you go to farm as a melee champ, they will get free harass on you. Armor seals help defend you, and are useful throughout the game to negate physical damage, which every champ can deal. [highlight]Glyphs:[/highlight] One of the more obvious rune choices, these are used to protect against spell damage from your opponent in lane. [highlight]Quints:[/highlight] Same as with the marks, quints are used to get you ahead in your lane, so that you can snowball. [title]VS Melee AP[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/mBpMd.png] The only difference between this rune page and the above one is the choice for seals. If you are playing against another melee champ in mid, like Kat or Galio, you won't be taking as much damage from auto attacks. If you arent taking as much damage from auto attacks, then you should have health instead, because that complements your MR when taking magic damage harass.

[title][img=skills/khazix/p.png] Passive: Unseen Threat [/title] [number]When Kha'Zix is not visible to the enemy team, he gains Unseen Threat, causing his next basic attack against an enemy champion to deal bonus magic damage and slow.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] You will start to notice this around mid and late game, and isn't of much use in lane. You won't be using the side brushes much early on, so most of the time, your passive wont be up. When in lane, one of the only effective ways to use this passive is by using your ult to make yourself invisible. When you start roaming in the mid game, you will have your passive up to slow and damage every time you gank. In late game teamfights in the jungle, walking in and out of brush will reset your passive and add a good chunk of damage to your combo. Overall, it deals a good amount of damage as long as you remember to reset it. [title][img=skills/khazix/q.png] Q: Taste Their Fear[/title] [number]Deal physical damage to a single target. Damage against isolated targets is significantly increased. Kha'Zix passively marks enemies that are isolated from nearby allies. Evolving claws increases damage to isolated targets even further. Kha'Zix also gains increased range on both Taste Their Fear and his basic attack. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is maxed second due to the insane amount of damage that it can deal. When a target is isolated, and you're a bit ahead, expect to deal about a quarter of their health with this one move followed by an auto attack. When evolved, this also becomes a great execute ability, dealing 12% of the targets missing health. Due to its low cooldown, you can spam this 2-4 times in a 1v1 duel. Overall, this is a great damage spell at a low cost [title][img=skills/khazix/w.png] W: Void Spike[/title] [number]Kha'Zix fires spikes that explode on contact, dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies. Kha'Zix is healed if he is within the explosion radius. Evolving spike racks causes Void Spike to fire three projectiles in a cone. Spikes will also apply Unseen Threat to all enemies caught within the area of effect. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is maxed first because of the harassment and healing that it provides. As a melee champ, you will take a bit of harass when you farm. This move negates most of the harass if you use it on a creep next to you to heal. To harass an opponent, you have 2 options. One is to hit them straight on, which is difficult because of the low speed of the skill shit and the narrowness of the skill. The other option is to hit creeps that they are standing by. If the circular explosion on the ground hits your opponent, they will take the same amount of damage that they would have taken if you had hit them directly. I evolve this skill either first or second. If you are about even in lane, the evolution will make it easier to farm and harass your opponent, and can apply your passive from a distance. Overall, this skill is your main form of harassment and sustain, and can apply Unseen Threat to increase the damage or help you gank. [title][img=skills/khazix/e.png] E: Leap[/title] [number]Kha'Zix leaps to an area, dealing physical damage to enemies in the area he lands. Evolving wings increases Leap's range dramatically and causes a kill or assists to refresh the cooldown of Leap. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This skill is a one point wonder, so I max it last. This is learned at level 2 so you can easily escape from ganks or unexpected damage from your lane opponent. I evolve this skill either first or second. If you are crushing your lane, it is best to evolve this skill, as it allows you to towerdve, get the kill, and escape with your life. It can also help if you get ganked, as you can fly halfway across the lane with the added distance. Your ganks also benefit from the distance, allowing you to get to your target right after you enter their vision, not allowing them much time to react. Overall, this skill improves your mobility, which can allow you to further dominate a game by positioning Kha'zix where he can unload all of his damage, and escape safely. [title][img=skills/khazix/r.png] R: Void Assault[/title] [number]Each rank of Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his active abilities, granting it an additional effect. Upon activation, Kha'Zix enters stealth and gains Unseen Threat, increasing Movement Speed. Kha'zix can cast Void Assault again for a short time after activation. Evolving active camouflage allows Kha'Zix to cast Void Assault three times over the course of its duration and reduces any damage he sustains while in stealth. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This spell is useful in ganks and in lane. This is obviously skilled at levels 6, 11, and 16, so you can evolve your other abilities. This move can be used to refresh your passive, escape ganks, and to sneak attack your opponent. Because this makes you invisible, it refreshes your passive, which can add a good amount of damage while in a fight, or slow someone that you are chasing. To sneak attack your opponent, you must get just outside of their sight range, pop your ult, get as close as you can before the invisibility wears off, and leap on them when it does. This applies your passive as well as puts you in a great position to use your other skills. Before they can retaliate, use the second part of your ult to either disengage, or ready your passive for another attack. The sneak attack strategy can be used both in your lane, and while ganking for your teammates. I choose to not evolve this skill at all. The 40% damage reduction is nice, but you aren't supposed to be in a position where you're taking much damage. The third invisibility also helps refresh your passive, but that extra damage isn't worth not evolving another skill. Overall, this skill is great for evading detection and refreshing your passive, but isn't a huge part of your kit.

The first 4 skills you level should be W>E>W>Q. You want to be able to harass right off the bat in lane with your W, and you want it to hit hard. E is leveled second to escape level 2 ganks. As long as you aren't too far up in the lane, an unevolved leap should keep you alive. At level 4, you should get your q, so you have the option of using your full combo to try and kill your lane opponent. After the first 4 levels, you should max your W first, Q second, and E third, while getting your ultimate whenever possible. Your W helps you out in lane by softening up your opponents before you leap on them, or by healing you for a good amount every few seconds. Q does a lot more damage than your W, but you have to be in melee range to use it. This makes it riskier to harass with it, and so it should be maxed second. Your E skill is used for mobility, so it doesn't need any levels until you have no other option. [title]Evolution Order[/title] The first skill you should evolve is either your W or your E, and depends completely on how you want to play. Your W makes you great in lane, as it makes it easier to farm, heal, and harass. The downside to leveling this first is that you don't have much kill pressure. Your only method of initiation is also your escape, so any act of aggression is incredibly risky. Even if you know where everyone on their team is, you're forced to go all in for that fight, which is an all or nothing gamble. You also have the option to evolve your leap first, if you want to kill your lane opponent or gank other lanes. Your E evolution allows you to initiate battles. The increased range makes your lane opponent susceptible to being leaped on, unless they want to stay out of experience range. If you manage to get the kill, your jump refreshes, allowing you to reposition yourself to a safer place. Your Q evolution adds a lot of damage to isolated targets. This is maxed last because it doesn't add any utility, and your damage without it is high anyway. this skill is better late game anyways, because you can catch people away from their team easier, as they usually aren't in lane farming.

[img=items/health-potion.png] As a melee champ in mid lane, you will take a good amount of free harass. During the laning phase you should pick up a couple of health pots every time you go back, to try and keep yourself healthy enough to play aggressively and farm effectively. These aren't meant to be used as a substitute for healing yourself with your W, but rather as a compliment of its heal. [img=items/sight-ward.png] Wards win games. They provide you with opportunities to catch opponents out of position, and it saves you from being caught yourself. You should ward on both sides of your lane, and try to give vision to paths the enemy jungler can gank, as well as map objectives. [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png] I cant think of any item combination better than this to start out with. The boots allow you to position yourself better, whether to align your void spike or dodge enemy skillshots. The potions help negate the harass you are going to be taking. [img=items/mercurys-treads.png][img=items/dorans-blade.png][img=items/dorans-blade.png] Youre an assassin, you need to get in and out of fights in an instant. If you get trapped by flying CC, you will be squashed like the bug Kha'zix is. Merc treads shorten the duration of CC so that you can escape quicker. As stated before, if you get ahead in lane, it will be smooth sailing for you, and dorans blades give you the extra edge that you need to get the lead and snowball. [img=items/the-bloodthirster.png] This is the first major item you will be completing, It gives a ton of damage, and you can heal between fights with the extra life steal. [img=items/sheen.png] This can be purchased before of after your Bloodthirster. It adds some damage and helps with mana issues as well. [img=items/trinity-force.png] Tons of damage. The sheen proc does a lot of damage, the slow combined with your passive makes escaping from you difficult, and the speed boost adds to your mobility. An expensive item but well worth the gold, as Kha'zix benefits from every part of it. [img=items/last-whisper.png] If you have trinity and a Bloodthirster, your enemies will likely buy some armor to try and stop you from killing them instantly. Thwart their efforts by BYPASSING their armor. If none of your opponents buy armor, spam laugh* and keep assassinating their squishies until they do. [img=items/guardian-angel.png] Allows you to be a man by jumping in the middle of their team. If your opponents are distracted by a teamfight or objective, you can dive in the middle of their team and try to take them on. The resistances will help negate aoe damage, while the guardian angel effect will dissuade them from attacking you. If they attack you, your team can kill them if they don't attack you, YOU can kill them.[title]*NOTE*[/title](please differentiate between manning up and suiciding like a moron before you jump in) [title]Other options:[/title] Bloodthirster, Trinity, Last Whisper, and GA take quite a while to farm up. Long enough for you to get a feel for what type of damage you should be looking out for. [img=items/maw-of-malmortius.png] Do you have to worry about a fed Vlad? or Rumble? Maw gives a good amount of MR and a shield to guard yourself from magic damage. Also gives some AD, which is nice. [img=items/frozen-heart.png] Did bot lane feed the enemy Vayne? Did jungle Pantheon do better than expected? Frozen Heart protects you from attack damage, and the attack speed reduction debuffs their whole team when you are in a teamfight. [img=items/warmogs-armor.png] Is everyone on their team doing decently? Is there a good balance of magic and attack damage? Or do you like the quiet serenity of farming up an item? Then get Warmogs to increase your health by a huge amount. [title]Please Note[/title] These items are just guidelines. Some games require different items than the ones stated here. This is just a starting point that you can use before you branch out into different items to fully counter the specific situations presented in each individual match. Don't let your build be static. *very important

In case you hadn't realized it while reading this guide, Kha'zix is an assassin. You are going to be hanging around the outskirts of a fight, and diving in when you can get to the enemy carries. Your combo when diving into a teamfight is E>W>Q. If you kill someone with that, you can choose to continue to hop around the teamfight and Q whenever its up, or to gtfo if the fight is going badly. Basically, if you can manage to sneak into a fight and take out a carry without them doing too much damage to your team, thats a win for you, good job.

During the early game, you want to get ahead. After getting a few kills ahead, Kha'zix will not lose his lane if played correctly, he just does too much damage. If you don't manage to get ahead, don't worry, assassins do their best in teamfights. Just farm up until then so you can decimate their team. If you are losing your lane, still don't get discouraged. Ask for some help from your jungler, maybe farm a few jungle mobs, play defensive and wait until you get back on track. By the end of the early game, you should be starting your Sheen/Bloodthirster or at least close to that point.

You should be starting to roam and looking for kills. Do your part to ward entrances and exits of the jungle as well as dragon. Don't neglect your farm, as that's what really wins games. Teamfights should be starting, so play those correctly and try to kill some carries. By the end of mid game, you should be done or almost done with your Trinity, and be doing some decent damage.

Map control is everything late game. if you can catch someone by themselves, you can kill them in an instant, which allows your team to take objectives, take towers, or start a teamfight. Try to stick with your team, don't engage on stupid fights, and take every advantage you can. Your job is still to kill carries in teamfights, but also to kill people that are out of position, as they will be susceptible to the immense amount of additional damage that comes from being isolated.

If a certain set of conditions are met in a match, you will have a chance to get a fourth evolution point. The conditions are: [.]Have both Kha'zix and Rengar on opposite teams [.]You must have spent all 3 of your evolution points [.]Rengar must have a Bonetooth Necklace Some time after all 3 conditions are met, both teams will get the quest "The Hunt is On". Your team's quest is to kill Rengar, while your opponent's team's quest is to kill you. If you defeat Rengar (by getting a kill or assist on him) then you get a fourth evolution point. Be careful, however, because if Rengar defeats you, he gets "The Head of Kha'zix" which gives him the same stats as a fully stacked Bonetooth necklace, and he wont lose stacks upon death.Only one of you will be able to complete your quest, so try your best to make sure its you. When the quest is active, stick close to your team, and try to catch Rengar off guard. If you manage to catch Rengar when he's by himself, consider yourself lucky. If you are even with Rengar itemwise, you should be able to defeat him 1v1. What usually happens, however, is that the winners of the next teamfight get the buff, so be sure to pick good fights, where you have the obvious advantage.

Kha'zix is an underrated champion that is able to snowball in a lane, shut down carries in teamfights, and help out other lanes through powerful ganks. While outclassed in top lane and in the jungle, mid lane Kha'zix is both fun to play and effective.
