Hello and welcome to my first guide here on solomid. Since this is my first guide here, I just want to take the time to introduce my self. My name is Vipsy and I have been playing this game for about 14 months now. I am currently in Diamond 5 in solo que. [imgext=] I have for a long time wanted to write a guide, but I never had the time to do it. So now since we have a brake from school, I decided to write a guide for my favorite champion, Nidalee. I have over 700 ranked games played with Nidalee and she is still the champion I enjoy the most. Nidalee can be played both as AD and AP, but in this guide my focus will be around AD Nidalee. It has been a blast writing this guide and I'm proud to present it. Hopefully you guys will enjoy reading it as well, so let's move on to the guide. My account: My smurf account: My stream: If you have any questions, feel free to add me ingame and I will try my best to answer you'r questions. I also give laning lessons for free! In this guide we are going to talk about a bunch of things, so it's really important that we understand the basics of playing Nidalee first. When we understand the basics of Nidalee we can move onto mastering her. That's why I decided to design my guide like this. Starting from the bottom with really basic information and ending up with the game braking mechanics. In the first basic chapters we will take a look at: [.] Summoner spells [.] Masteries and Runes [.] Skills and skill Order [.] When to pick Nidalee In the more advanced chapters we will take a look at: [.] Bushwhacks [.] Early Game, Mid game and Late game [.] Team Fights [.] Split-pushing [.] Nidalee Mechanics [.] Match ups

[title] Passive: Prowl[/title] [number]Moving through brush increases Nidalee's movement speed by 15% for 2 seconds.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is by far my favorite passive in the game. It really allows to take advantage of the bush, offensively and defensively. The main idea here is to go in and out early game in order to poke. If your ever running away or chasing, be sure to make use of this bush when you have the chance. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ [title] Q: Javelin Toss / Takedown[/title] [number]Human: Nidalee tosses her javelin, dealing 55 / 95 / 140 / 185 / 230 (+65% of ability power) magic damage on impact (deals up to 250% damage the further away the target is). Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 50/60/70/80/90 mana Range 1500[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] In human form, this ability launches a spear. I'm sure we've all seen nidalees with tons of ap where they chunk someone for HUGE amounts of health with a single spear. However you won't be doing this that often with ad nidalee, so unless it'll help you nab a cs you wouldn't otherwise get, or finish off a kill, most likely you're better off saving the mana. [title][imgext=] Q: Javelin Toss / Takedown[/title] [number]Cougar: Nidalee's next attack deals additional damage based on how low her opponent's life is.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] In cougar form, this ability is one of the best nuking abilities onto enemies with lower health in the whole game. Because it scales off of missing health, the lower health your opponent gets in lane, the more damage you do, which is why it's extremely dangerous to stick around below half health against a nidalee. This is your main damaging skill in cougar form. Make sure you know how much burst you have as you can often out duel low health opponents with really surprising amounts of burst. It can scale up to 300% of your total ad on top of the base damage which is absolutely ridiculous. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ [title] W: Bushwhack / Pounce[/title] [number]Human: Nidalee lays a trap that deals 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+40% of ability power) damage over 2 seconds, reveals the target, and reduces their armor and magic resistance by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% for 12 seconds. Traps last for 4 minutes. Cooldown 18seconds Cost 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120mana Range 900[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] In human form, the traps you can lay are the best tool you have available to you early game. If used properly you can be one of the safest top lane picks vs jungle ganks in the entire game. These also give you insane bush control as I talk about in other parts of the guide. Get a point in this at 1 and max it last. [title][imgext=] W: Bushwhack / Pounce[/title] [number]Cougar: Nidalee lunges forward, dealing damage to surrounding enemies. Pounce is not affected by cooldown reduction.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] The pounce is the spell that everyone despises Nidalee for. It can be used offensively and defensively, allowing the player to escape from deadly ganks or catching that stray runner. It can be spammed constantly, and with the use of her passive it makes her so difficult to kill. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ [title] E: Primal Surge / Swipe[/title] [number]Human: Nidalee heals an ally champion for 50/85/120/155/190 (+70% of ability power) and grants them a 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60% attack speed for 7 seconds. Cooldown 10 seconds Cost 60/80/100/120/140 mana Range 600[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This should be your main skill for sustaining in lane, and it allows to poke with the extra attack speed. Take advantage of this spell in lane to be aggressive, and deny farm for the other laner. [title][imgext=] E: Primal Surge / Swipe[/title] [number]Cougar: Nidelee claws at enemies in front of her.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] In cougar form this is your main wave clearing ability (though it won't clear waves for long as you have no ap). And it's nice extra damage on your cougar combo. Use this whenever you get the chance too on the end of your combo in cougar form. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ [title] R: Aspect Of The Cougar[/title] [number]Passive: Each additional rank increases the effectiveness of Nidalee's cougar abilities. Nidalee transforms into a vicious cougar, gaining 20 movement speed and a new set of abilities. Cooldown 4 seconds[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is obviously the ability that makes nidalee...well nidalee. Each time you transform you gain a new set of abilities and the cooldown is rather short. Each rank of her ultimate scales up all 3 of nidalee's cougar abilities and gives her 10 more mr/armor while in cougar form. Learning when to switch in and out is all something that comes with experience. But as ad nid, you should be spending the majority of your time in cougar form in teamfights as your cougar combo is your main form of burst damage. And the extra resistances and movespeed it gives you is really nice. Don't forget to pop out and throw out a heal when you get the chance though. The heal is nice but the attack speed boost is better. In lane you definitely spend the majority of your time in human form however. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

> > > This is the skill order you always want on Nidalee! Note: When you skill up your [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png], [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] and [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png] abilities you only upgrade the Human from spells. When you level up [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/r.png] your spells in Cougar is upgraded. [imgext=] I do take [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] at level 1 for a bunch of reasons. It gives my team a lot map control, together with protecting my self from early ganks. In the next chapters I will talk about how to use the bushwhacks properly.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Iceborn Gauntlets VS Trinity Force [imgsmall=items/frozen-fist.png]: The Iceborn Gauntlets are so good in this current meta. It provides Nidalee tankiness, CDR and an amazing slow. This is by far the best item for top Nidalee in this patch. You will lack abit of dmg with this item early game, but its worth it. If your laning agaist an AD champ pick up the [imgsmall=items/glacial-shroud.png] first. [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png]: Trinity force is still a good item on Nidalee, but I dont feel it a mandatory rush like I used to. You will miss some damage if you rush this item, so I recomend getting it later on, judging on the game because the sheen proc, the phage proc, the hp and the movement speed are really useful, but as I said this is no longer a must have. As you see I find that [imgsmall=items/frozen-fist.png] > [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png] in this current meta.

This is actually one of the most important spells on Nidalee both early and late game. So there is a few things I would like to go over with this spell. First I will talk a little bit about what the bushwhacks really do, before I move on with how to use them properly. Tooltip: \"Nidalee lays a trap that deals magic damage over 2 seconds when sprung by an enemy, revealing them and reducing their armor and magic resistance for 12 seconds. Traps last for 4 minutes\". Lets analyse this spell: [.] Mana cost: [number]60[/number] / [number]75[/number] / [number]90[/number] / [number]105[/number] / [number]120 [/number] [.] Magic damage: [number]80[/number] / [number]125[/number] / [number]170[/number] / [number]215[/number] / [number]260[/number] (+0.4 per ability power) [.] Enemy Armor & Magic Resist Reduction: [number]20[/number] / [number]25[/number] / [number]30[/number] / [number]35[/number] / [number]40[/number]% [.] Traps last for: [number]4[/number] minutes [.] Range: [number]900[/number] Now there is one thing here which is huge and a lot of people don't even know about it. Yes, I'm talking about the armor and magic resist reduction. When this spell is max leveled, it will reduce enemy's resistance with 40%. This is huge. This means that late game, when enemy tanks and bruisers have a lot of resistance, this little bushwhack can actually turn a fight around. It makes it possible for your self and your carries, to actually burst down the enemy tank line. If you land a bushwhack on their AP or AD carry, you will almost make them take true damage from your teams damage. So that's why its very important to land a good bushwhack on the enemy team. It provides your team a 12 second window, where the enemy tanks, bruisers or carries will take a lot more damage.

Moving on to the next chapter in this little Bushwhack guide. Controlling the early minutes in a game is very important. If you know where the enemy jungler is at all times, your team has a huge advantage. Your friendly jungler can much easier counter jungle aswell as your lanes can play much more aggressive. This is why you want to have a proper start on Nidalee. She can use her [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] at key points to track the enemy jungler in the early minutes, along with providing some extra protection from ganks. You can place your bushwhacks where you want, depending on what you know. If you know the enemy team has an offensive jungler which often starts on red. You want to trap around that area as well as your own top lane to protect you from ganks. I will now show you how I place my bushwhacks against [imgsmall=champ/leesin.png] which is a very common offensive jungler. In this example me and my team is on the BLUE side while the enemy team has the PURPLE side. Lee sin often start on Wraiths ([number]5[/number]) which spwans at [number]1.40[/number], he then trasitions to the Red buff ([number]1[/number]) which spawns at [number]1.55[/number]. After that he will most likely gank eather mid or top lane. In 90% of my solo que games, I tell my support to place 1 [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png] at the wraiths entrance. With that ward our mid laner is safe from that side, as well as we know where the enemy jungler starts. I can also save 1-2 traps on that side, focusing more on the upper part of the river. [imgext=] RED DOTS = [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] As you can see in this picture, this is a very defensive way of placing you traps. We have a ward at the left side entrance which protects our mid laner from early ganks from that side. Our team can also see if Lee Sin decides to cross the river to enter our jungle to steal either our blue or wolves, which can give our team enough time to kill him. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Remember that if you are up against a hard lane you maybe want to blue pillar back for the 4th [imgsmall=items/health-potion.png]. [number]1.30[/number] is when the minons spwans and you start getting gold per second. You want to click B and teleport back to base in order to reach your lane before you lose minions. NOTE: You can only do this if you start with [imgsmall=items/boots-of-speed.png] Use the brush in the lane to trigger your passive [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/p.png] so you don't miss any creeps.

AD Nidalee's strength is from her ridiculous laning phase. By going full Armor Penetration runes and 21 on the offensive tree you can drive people off your lane by the 5 minute mark by simply abusing the bush and auto-attacking your opponent non-stop. Use the brush to your advantage and try to keep the creeps away from your tower, but not all the way other to their side. If your lane opponent is pushing, auto attack all the time to keep the creeps away from your tower. Once you hit 6 you can go really offensive. Go into the brush, activate your Cougar Stance and use the following combo: W > E > Q. Do this 1-2 times and when your opponet in low on health about 40-50% you can acually burst them down. [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png] in human form, activate [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/r.png] and do your combo: W > [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] > E > Q. After that swap to human form use [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png] and auto attack for the kill, a lot of players fall for this trick and will often secure you the first blood of the game.

Mid game for nidalee is arguably her strongest. Cougar form exchanges deal a tremendous amount of damage and her auto attacks with primal surge deal a high amount of sustained damage. Constantly try to poke down the enemy and use your cougar form to win exchanges. Try to get the first turret down, once you are able to roam the enemy jungle the game is in your hands. Buy a lot of wards and keep an eye on the enemy jungle. If you pull more than one champion always back out and re-enter when your wards have spotted that it's safe. You must buy wards if you intend to split push and roam the enemy jungle. You should by now either have [imgsmall=items/frozen-fist.png] or [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png] this gives Nidalee the ability to kite, chase and fight porperly. You this to your advantage, help your team, support other lanes, split-push and keep the pressure on the map. As I said Mid game is where Nidalee is strongest. You should aim for team fights around the 15-25min mark. This can win you a lot of games.

Nidalee is know for begin a really bad lategame champion. This is some what true, but at the same time she brings another ascpect to the team. She can splitpush and if you are ahead in items, you can easily take on 2 of their team members. Keep up the pressure from midgame and ride your way into a strong late game. When the really late game hits, +50min ingame. Your job will be either to protect your AD carry or to be a frontliner for your team. This is dependant on thier team and your item build. If your going for a somewhat tanky build, you should be a frontliner. Land key Bushwacks to take away their tanks resistances and go in for the engage. Controll and kite the fights with [imgsmall=items/frozen-fist.png] and jump in and out poking with all your abilites. This is the order you should use your spells. Land a good [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] - follow up with a heal for attackspeed on your ADC [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png]. Try to land a [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png] - jump into [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/r.png] and use [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] + [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png] + [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png] for damage - [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/r.png] back to casterform. Rise and repeat.

There is one role that I really like to take when I play Nidalee and that is the defensive role. Your job is to defend your AD Carry and with Nidalee, this is easy. You want to posision your self a little bit to the side or behind of your carry. So its easier to jump in with cougar, as well as landing bushwhacks on the incoming bruisers. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now as the fight starts, enemy bruisers will try to go for your AD carry. You wanna tag them with auto attacks for Phage slow, so you can kite them with your AD carry. With your [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png] you can give your AD carry +60% Attack speed together with a pretty strong heal, you wanna use this every time its off CD. Now as your AD carry is safe and have increased attack speed, you wanna go in and do some damage. This is where Armor Penetration comes in the picture. Bruisers usually stacks a lot of Armor so with ARP you are able to take them down much quicker then they will expect with your Cougar Stance. Go into [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/r.png] and your combo should look like this W > E > Q Switch back to Human form [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/w.png] > Auto Attack > [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/e.png] your AD carry OR your self > Auto Attack > [imgsmall=skills/nidalee/q.png] > Auto Attack Rise and repeat. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The reason why I auto attack between all my spells is the passive [imgsmall=items/sheen.png] brings you. If you learn to auto attack properly between your spells, you will see a massive damage increase. Nidalee is known to be weak in team fights. Its true, but at the same time if you can master this play style, you will see that your winning team fights much easier than before.

Nidalee is one of the best splitpushsers in the game and you can drive off the hole enemy team if you do it right. The only problem with split pushing is that you need to make sure your team knows what to do. When your playing solo que, this can actually be very hard. So the key to split pushing in solo que is to buy a lot of wards trougout the hole game. If your planning to split push top lane, you want to place 2 wards. 1 in the top tribrush and 1 in the upper mid enterance. With this ward placement, you are able to see the enemys before its too late. Also use your passive to your advantage. Spiltpushing is dangarous and takes a lot of time to master, but at the same time it can be very reawarding for your team. Nidalee is a champion that have a lot of escapes and utility. This makes her a perfect champion for splitpushing. If you play right you can actually make the enemy jungler chose between losing a lot of towers or camp you. If the enemy jungler decides to gank you, you already here provide a lot of help to your team. You give time for your jungler to counter jungle and the other lanes can play much more agressive.

Burst combo: I use this combo a lot to get my self an easy first blood. Most people wont expect the damage output from this combo. - - - - [imgext=] - [imgext=] - [imgext=] - -

Before I start: this match up list is also my counter pick section. Also, just because I say it is hard to beat X champion; that does not mean Renekton will always lose; with the right tactics you can beat anyone. This list will include the most common top picks in this current meta. Difficulty is 1 being the easiest to 10 being the hardest. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [7] Pros Very squishy Can AoE in the shroud Cons Can stop a full combo with shroud Has high potential burst gap closer Tips: Even at level 6, your trade is much stronger than her burst. Use your harass to your advantage. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [8] Pros You have the range advantage, use it Cons Much better extended trade Once you are to close to him, if he catches you with his hook it's over Tips: Attempt to kill him pre-6 because even with your ultimate, it is very difficult to survive his burst. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [7] Pros Squishy, if you can land a combo she's in trouble Cons Long range poke is very strong Her E is annoying in both forms Strong potential burst Tips: You always need to have an escape before you engage on Elise. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [8] Pros Squishy early game Cons Gap closer Sustain True damage Tips: Don't let her trade with you pre lvl 6. Don't dive Irelia. Her sustain from her ultimate on top of her short CD stun makes it quite dangerous. If you need to dive, make sure you have enough health to survive. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [6] Pros Cocky Jayce's will always lose Squishy if you can reach him Cons Knock back annoying Speed boost annoying Ranged annoying Tips: Just stays back to harass all game. Wait for the opportunity when he gets too close to you can do a full combo on him + ignite. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [6] Pros You can sustain just as much as him Cons Annoying jumps Has that Q->E->Q combo that wrecks you early game Tips: Avoid getting hit by Q and you're safe. He's not hard to stalemate against, but he is hard to beat because of his disengage. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [4] Pros Not enough damage to kill Nidalee No escape, apart from ulti. Cons Hard to get fed off this lane His late game is better than your Tips: Very early aggression works best, before he gets any kind of armor. If you can kill him early you will proceed to zone him all game. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [2] Pros Squishy early Easy to harrass Doesn't have much early game pressure Cons Late game terror Wither is annoying as hell Tips: Zoning him is easy, killing him is hard. His passive lifesteal will keep your aggression strategy from working. Poke him down and kill him with full cougar combo + ignite. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [7] Pros No escape No sustain Cons He can roam really well High harass Gap closer Tips: Don't let him harass you without you harassing him back. If you let him Q you without you doing anything back, he will zone you for the entire lane phase. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [5] Pros You out sustain her Your range counter her, if played right Squishy Cons Her level 6 might be a bit better (harass her before you engage on a full 1v1) Gap closer Deadly burst Tips: Watch out for her level 2. Wait until later levels to engage on her because she has almost as much, if not more early game damage than you. Auto attack all the time when she goes in for cs and keeping your distance is key for this match up. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [4] Pros Somewhat squishy No real escape Cons Tons of constant damage (don't go too aggressive and get yourself killed) All AP damage - not enough MR A good harassing Rumble is terrifying Tips: Another lane where if Rumble harasses you, you MUST harass back. Keep distance from his flamespitter and constantly harrass with auto attacks. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [5] Pros He cannot kill you Your sustain > his Cons It's hard to kill him Getting taunted under turret sucks Tips: For this lane, the best thing to do is try and kill him before he can buy any health or armor. Once he gets some kind of tanky item, your potential to kill him goes way down. If he happens to get tanky items in lane, just try to constantly harass or farm. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [4] Pros His pre 6 is much worse than yours Easy to harrass Cons Hard to kill Magic damage is no fun Annoying pest all game Tips: Another lane that's like Shen. You just have to attempt to kill him before he gets tanky items. Constantly auto attack him to force him off minions. Watch were you walk and make sure not to get baited. Try to place some smart traps and if he walks in one, the 25% magic and armor reduction give you a chance to kill him with your burst combo + ignite. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [2] Pros No burst Little sustain Trades bad unless he has fury Cons Gap closer His ultimate can save him from most situations Tons of early damage Tips: His harass is always better than your. Harass him as much as possible because there is very little he can do back. When you hit lvl 6, you can try to kill him with your combo. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [3] Pros Easy to catch up to You out damage him easily Cons Has higher sustain Farms all game Tips: With Vlad having such short range you should have no problem being able to harass him. While Vlad has a lot of sustain, you can match it. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [5] Pros Has trouble escaping Renekton Free E proc from his clone Cons Gap closer Wukong has ridiculous level 6 burst Tips: Avoid extended trades at really early levels. Once you hit 6 it gets easy. Wukong is a burst reliant champion when it comes to getting kills in lane (most of the time). Your ult can out burst him and your sustain counters him. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [7] Pros Easy to beat once you gained dominance of the lane Fairly squishy early game Cons Xin's early Q burst hurts like hell Has % health damage Gap closer Tips: Another champion that hurts if you get too caught up in a trade. He has great sustain, CC, and damage early game. The way to win is by getting to level 6 first. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [6] Pros Can heal/kill the ghouls fast Yorick is squishy with no ghouls Cons He out sustains you if you get killed early on Harassing monster Tips: The easiest way to win vs Yorick is by hitting all his ghouls with a E in Cougar from and then keep trading. Yorick with no ghouls does very little damage and isn't very tanky.

Thanks for reading my Nidalee guide and I really hope you found it useful! I've had a great time writing and testing different items, runes, builds and much more for this guide. With that said you can always find me on my stream over at Twitch. Stream: I will start to post videos on youtube with my new channel as well. [imgext=]
