UDPATE: Remembered I had this guide up collecting dust and realized there still may be people stumbling across it. I would take it down, but there still might be some relevant information for people to learn and I'd rather not delete something I spent so much time making.

The preseason patch has left Vladimir relatively unscathed, but there are a few major differences that will effect him. 1. Spirit of the Spectral Wraith is no longer a viable item on Vladimir because of changes to it. Luckily, Will of the Ancients has changed to be almost exactly what Spectral Wraith used to be, but with 10 more AP, no health regen, and no bonus damage to minions. 2. 9 points in defense no longer grants any resistances. This means that Vladimir is more vulnerable to an all-in or gank at early levels, so you have to play more carefully. 3. The warding trinket makes the bushes harder to exploit vs Vladimir. If you are having trouble with a top laner ducking in and out of bushes, you can use your trinket to prevent that for 60 seconds. NOTE: This guide is far too big for me to quickly adjust to the preseason, especially since there is a new editor. I don't want to rush to update everything, because I want to get a grasp on what exactly the ideal play for Vladimir is. Also, there are still portions of the guide meant for mid lane in the latter half of the guide. Please bare with me; I apologize for any inconvenience.

What makes this guide different than other guides? That's an easy one! This item is a massive game changer on Vladimir. Basically, your Sanguine Pool makes you invulnerable two seconds, and Zhonya's Hourglass makes you invulnerable for 2.5 seconds. That means you can use your E and Q, your W, then come up and E-Q again before going into Zhonya's and finally using E-Q again. This strategy lets you build almost pure damage, dive into the middle of a fight, deal damage every time your spells are off cooldown, and still survive for at least six seconds. [title]Chapter Order:[/title] The chapters are ordered in a way that puts the more important and interesting things up top, while putting the less significant and boring parts at the bottom. You'll notice that crucial parts of the guide, such as items and mechanics are up at the top, but less important things such as the runes and masteries and their explanations are at the bottom.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/7TDUwiT.png?1] I am Foo! I am the harbinger of light. The defender of truth! The bane of evil! The maker of the meta! The hero of the... the... Alright, I'm just some plat player who has played a lot of Vladimir. My very first champion was Morgana, and I played her exclusively for my first 200 games or so. When I picked up Vladimir, I didn't know how to teamfight with anyone other than her, so I naturally derped into the center of their team and died shortly after my pool was over. Then I got the crazy idea to build Vladimir and Morgana the same way, and... I quickly fell in love. I then started rushing Zhonya's Hourglass every single game, and began fighting the same way Morgana fights: going into the center of their team and forcing them all to spread out or take massive damage. This is because they simply CANNOT kill me if I don't mess up. If they try, well... the teamfight is over. I have always been one to think very hard about my skill order, my items, and try to come up with unconventional but effective builds. Usually, it doesn't work out, but if it doesn't, I learn WHY the standard build is good, and if any of those items are situational. Some of my item choices may seem a little odd, but please give them a chance, because there is a lot of reason and thought behind all of them.

Here is a me getting a quadra kill in ranked teams. Sorry that I don't have the best mic, and I had to do a little workaround because fraps kept ending the recording randomly. *Note 1. Yes, they were low health and didn't have their ultimates, but I knew this going in. That does make the clip less impressive, but it wouldn't have been possible if they weren't low health and didn't have their ultimates. 2. You might say, \"That's a 2v5 quad because of Kog'Maw!\" He did a little bit of damage, and killed Renekton as the fight started, but he was dead before I got there, so I consider it a 1v4.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/zq3rZhx.png?1] Vladimir is a short ranged, high damage dealing mage that is naturally tanky. His job is to deal as much damage to the enemy team as he can. He has a somewhat weak, but safe, early game and he gets constantly stronger as the game goes on. Pros: [.] Very high damage [.] Almost impossible to gank [.] Naturally Tanky [.] Incredible sustain [.] Very versatile [.] Good creep clear (Once you stack E) [.] Easy to pick up [.] Safe pick. Cons [.] Very little CC [.] Not easy to gank with/for [.] Short range [.] Weak early game [.] Vunerable to CC [.] Poor lane control and creep clear early on (before you can stack E) [.] Hard to master [.] Very weak to Poke/Disengage and Split push compositions.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/UaNVcbf.png?1] [title]Starting Items[/title] - This is the best start against AD champions, giving you armor to survive lane, as well as the maximum number of potions. The cloth armor is very helpful for surviving early attempts on your life, and will make every hit point you have more valuable. Another upside, the cloth armor builds into Seeker's Armguard, part of your core build. However, there is a cost, you won't get any wards. If you really wards, consider the below start. - This is the most generic start for Vladimir, and you should mostly use it against an AP lane or a passive lane. It gives you a lot of sustain, as well as two wards to help you play safe. With the limit of five potions at a time, a rejuvenation bead is the only way to spend all your starting gold on Sustain. Rejuvenation Bead will actually scale with your E passive, and will pay for itself many times over if you keep it for long enough. On the downside, it will take a while for the sustain to pay off. To be honest, this start is good because there are no other ways to start against an AP champion. The rejuvination bead also builds into your Spirit of the Spectral Wraith. You can also sacrifice a ward for a fifth potion if you like. - Doran's Shield is not a start that I am a fan of. It is an extremely defensive start, while also being very risky. Having only one potion means that taking large damage will force you back for a long time, and it means you simply cannot take advantage of E stacks until you back, in almost any circumstances. What Doran's shield IS useful for is surviving an all in/gank, because of the whopping 100 HP it provides and, to a lesser extent, the damage it shaves off of basic attacks. It may help you survive an all-in attempt, but it will not help you WIN such a trade. Doran's shield is mainly useful for melee champs laning against a range champion, and Vlad will never find himself in this situation. The only matchup I would use this for is Vlad vs Aatrox top. [title]Boots[/title] - These are my favorite boots on Vladimir. They give you some MUCH needed cooldown reduction, which is hard to build on Vlad, because his best damage items do not grant cooldown reduction. These are not a must get, but they are the most useful in most situations. If you don't get these, you HAVE to get cooldown reduction from somewhere else. (i.e. Spirit Visage) - The second best boots for Vladimir. Get these if there is a lot of crowd control that is being targeted on you. It also a good thing to purchase against certain lane opponents. (Veigar, Syndra, Ryze, or Annie) DO NOT GET THESE JUST FOR MAGIC RESIST. IF YOU NEED MAGIC RESIST, YOU CAN ALWAYS GET A NULL MAGIC MANTLE OR NEGATRON CLOAK, BUT COOLDOWN REDUCTION IS DIFFICULT TO PURCHASE. - These are good boots to survive an AD opponent, or take him down if you plan to go for kills on him. Do not get these against an AD caster, as more armor from a chain vest or a cloth armor will be better when you are taking advantage of the 10% reduced damage of basic attacks. - I do not like getting these on Vlad, as they do less damage than Ionian Boots of Lucidity; especially with the Zhonya's Hourglass strategy. However, if you are going to have max CDR with your item path, Sorcerer's Shoes are better. [title]Boot Enchantments[/title] I personally don't think boot enchantments are that strong. I usually get them after my second full item if I don't have gold for a bigger item, and then only if I feel I need them for a specific purpose. - These are my favorite enchantments. Never underestimate how valuable getting to lane or an objective can be. Buy these when your team is behind, and you want to rush to an objective very quickly to defend it. Also worth a purchase if you need to rush to baron really quickly. - These are my second favorite boot enchantments. Having mobility more often can be very powerful in teamfights, or if could not matter in the slightest. They are especially strong if you are running flash and ghost. - These are my second favorite enchantment. If you are being kited, these are a good choice. Always remember that using a basic attack will give you a short boost of speed. - These grant 15 movespeed. This is the difference between normal T2 boots and swiftness boots. I personally don't think this is worth it. If you need movespeed, furor is better. - These boot enchantments are just terrible. Not only are they the most expensive, but they will also rarely have any impact because the range is tiny. [title]Items[/title] God Tier: Core items that you should build 99.9% of games. Great: Items that work very well on Vladimir. You will build most of these every game that goes to full build. Decent: Items that are situational because they are either sub-optimal, or don't work well on Vladimir. Bad: Items that you shouldn't build. These items are either terrible, or just items that do not work with Vladimir at all. Rating: God Tier This item is amazing. Vladimir relies heavily on CDR, but very few of them give stats that Vladimir wants, and none of them are optimal. Getting this Elixir is an extremely cheap way to get enough CDR to be effective. I will buy two to three of these a game. If you don't have blue buff, or a CDR item other than Ionian boots and Spectral Wraith and you think a teamfight is going to happen soon, buy a blue pot. Rating: Decent If you have all of your items and some spare gold, buy this after your Elixir of Brilliance. There is no reason not to. Rating: God Tier See the introduction. This is the very center of this guide. It gives you everything you need, and the active is so good that it would still be a core even if the active cost 1600 with no other stats. Rating: God Tier This is the item you rush as fast as you can. Hextech Revolver lets you stack your E and get even more sustain than if you didn't keep it stacked. It let's you sustain through any poke. With this item you have better sustain than pretty much any other champ in the game once you hit level 9. Rating: God-Tier Upgrade your hextech revolver for 600 gold, and you get 10% CDR and 8% extra spell vamp (in addition to a bit of HP regen, that scales with your E). It is a no-brainer to updgrade this item, since CDR is an incredibly valuable stat on Vladimir and the spell vamp heavily improves your lane presence. The only reason to not buy this item is if you REALLY want Will of the Ancients. I always sell this item once I reach full build; I like to replace it with a higher damage item, but if you want to keep the spell vamp, buy Will of the Ancients. Rating: Great This gives you the most AP of any item by far, and it isn't that pricey either. This is usually the second item I get after Zhonya's. It's important to note that this items is very cost inefficient without the passive. Without another big AP item to bolster it, this is a bad buy. Rating: Great You have to grab this item eventually unless they build no MR. It can either be your third, fourth or fifth item depending on how much magic resist the enemy builds. Since this build doesn't have any flat pen, this item isn't as strong because you won't do true damage to anyone. That being said, it is very cost effective once enemies have about 80-100 MR. Rating: Great This item works very well for Vladimir. The magic resist is even stronger because of the health from your passive, it has a good amount of AP and the magic resist reduction aura is phenomenal. Since you go into the center of their team, you will apply the aura to everyone. Rating: Good The most overrated item in the history of overrated items on Vlad. The logic behind it is: It gives AP AND health so it scales off your passive twice! You want to know how much AP that is? You really want to know?! TWELVE! Twelve! That is almost to no AP, and the stats are not that useful overall. However, it is still a pretty strong item on Vladimir. The only time you buy it is if you NEED the slow for teamfights. If you are having trouble staying close to their back line, Rylai's is a good pickup. Rating: Decent Only a good purchase if you have a team that would benefit from the aura. Otherwise, it is almost entirely inferior to spirit of the spectral Wraith. The only time I buy this item is if I am full build, and still want spell-vamp. In this case, I will sell the spectral wraith for WOTA. Rating: Decent This item could be great, but it just isn't. It gives you the stats that you need, but it isn't very cost effective. The item's strength comes its active, but Vladimir cannot make very good use of it. If you think you can make good use of the active and need some CDR, this is a good choice. Rating: Decent I just don't like this item. 2.5% of their current health just never seems to be that much. Vladimir has only one single-target spell, so you will almost always do half damage on the passive. If you have Rylai's you can build this, but I do not think this item is worth the cost. Without taking the %health passive into account, this item gives very little base stats for it's price. Rating: Bad Actually not horrible. It doesn't give much AP for the price, but the movespeed is nice. The mana is useless, and, even though you can constantly have it up, it is takes too long to use basic attacks in between your pool or Zhonya's. Rating: Decently Bad (Situational) This is another surprisingly not a horrible item. It is incredibly cost effective, and gives you great bang for your buck, even despite the mana regen. However, this item is not space efficient and Vladimir is a \"Big Item\" mage who depends heavily on late game. Rating: Bad This item is horrible on Vladimir. Over a third of the price of this item is spent on mana regen. This item is built for mana-hungry casters, and Vladimir, the Crimson reaper, is too manly for mana! Rating: Bad This wouldn't be horrible, but Vladimir doesn't fit at all with this item. You scale well with it's passive health regen upon leveling up because it scales with your passive, but you don't need any more sustain. You are just spending too much money on mana for this item. This is a worse version of Rylai's for Vladimir. Rating: Bad A surprisingly decent item for AP carries, but is worse for Vladimir. Your early game is way too weak to waste time on GP10 items, the items is not space effecient, and the active is sub-optimal for Vlad. If the active is needed, the support should get it. Rating: No I shouldn't have to tell you why not to build this item. Defensive Items It is always good to buy more damage, but sometimes having more survivability leads to you doing more damage. There is no point to dealing tons of damage if you die instantly. Building defense also slightly punishes the enemy for focusing you. Rating: Legendary This is actually your strongest defensive item and one of your strongest for offense as well. The active changes Vladimir from a less damaging, less tanky version of Ryze to a fusion of Morgana and Karthus. Rating: Great This item seems to have been made for Vladimir. You're telling me I can get health, tons of magic resist, cooldown reduction AND a healing buff?! FOR ONLY 2200 gold!? However, there is a problem. It only costs 2200 gold. It gives incredible stats, but it doesn't give much stats because it's so cheap. If you buy this item, you must sell it for a Warmogs when you reach full build. Rating: Great This was formerly the strongest defensive item in the game. It is especially for champions who die early in the fight, which there is a high risk for on Vlad. If you die once your Zhonya's wears off, then you will revive with your spells already back up. Also, it gives lots of resistances, which will help you a lot considering the bonus health from your passive. However, resistances are much less useful than they used to be. Rating: Good(situational) This item is INCREDIBLE in the right circumstances. If you are against a team that has very strong CC (silences, stuns, or suppresses) then you may have trouble using your Zhonya's Hourglass in a teamfight. If you fall before you use Zhonya's, you have not carried your weight in a teamfight. Rating: Decent This item was once nearly mandatory on Vlad, but the nerfs was worn it down. The health is great, and the health regen helps, but having an item that only grants hit points simply isn't a great pick now that it isn't ridiculously cost effective. The HP from this item does give you HP, but it is only around 20, so Warmogs is usually a bad purchase. Only but this if your enemy doesn't have any %HP damage, and has a good mix or physical damage and magic damage AND a Guardian Angel revive will not be very useful in a teamfight. Rating: Decent I know what your thinking. Why would you get this? You don't even have mana? Well, how many tanks would run out of mana in a fight without it? The mana isn't what's important. It's that you get a great amount of armor, and some beautiful cooldown redcution. Not to mention, you can put the aura on most of their team. Glacial Shroud is also a great lane phase item if you are getting beaten pretty badly by an AD opponent. Armor is less useful than it used to, so this item isn't nearly as good as it was last season. Rating: Bad This is just a worse Frozen heart. It gives some armor as well as a good amount of health, but you don't get and CDR, and the active is worse than Frozen Heart's Passive for Vladimir. Rating: Bad With the changes to resistances, this item isn't nearly as good as it used to be. It's also much more suited for a tank or a support. Rating: Bad Real vampires sparkle, right? WRONG! He's a HEMOMANCER, not a vampire! Get it right! Seriously though, this is just an inferior Warmogs for Vladimir. It also gives armor, but 500 health is better than 45 armor against AD champions anyway. You also have absolutely no use for the passive. Rating: VERY Situational (bad) This item is horrible in every regard other than the active. Due to Vladimir's short ranged nature, you will not keep the veil up for very long. Only ever buy this if you are constantly being engaged upon by a long ranged, high CC spell. (i.e. Only Ashe's ultimate or Malphite's ultmiate) However, you SHOULD be able to prevent that with pool. Rating: Awful This doesn't give anything for Vladimir. The armor is nice, but you are mostly paying for the passive, but Vladimir won't be there to shoot at most of the time. You spend over half the fight invulnerable. [title]Lane Phase Items[/title] These items are for purchase if you need a little extra boots to survive lane phase, or want to duel the enemy lane. All of the items here (other than negatron cloak and chain vest) are purchased and then sold later. They (except for doran's) sell for 70%, so they are very cheap once you sell them. Cloth armor costs only 90 gold after being sold. - Always get this as fast as you can. - This item is AMAZING against AD champions. It is almost cost effective on purchase, and gives you incredible stats for the price when you stack it. Because it gives so much armor, you are better off saving for a needlessly large rod if you want AP. This item does open things up for you more, as well. You can now buy cloth armor and amplifying tome in lane, and still build it into something. - Gives you a little bit of AP for a reasonable price. If you cannot afford a bigger AP item, or a core item you can pick this up. Now you can buy it even after you have Hextech revolver because you can build it into Seeker's Armguard which builds into Zhonya's Hourglass. - This is the best defensive item against an AD laner if you need armor. Mostly you will purchase it as a starting item against an AD lane opponent. It builds into Seeker's Armguard which builds into Zhonya's Hourglass, so there is no penalty for building it. You can purcahse up to two of them in lane to survive, before ultimately building them into Seeker's Armguard. - If you are getting completely stomped by an AD opponent, buying Seeker's Armguard will be better. This no longer builds into Zhonya' Hourglass, so it is no longer a good way to get armor. Just buy two cloth armor instead. - This good for burst protection, or against any opponent that fights you from 100 to 0. Early on, the health will be better than resistances for dueling, but it will not help you win trades, so you only get it to survive a burst of damage. (i.e. Fizz or Pantheon) (Cost after being sold: 143) - A good item against an AP champ that harasses you a lot, such as Elise. If you want to save yourself from a burst mage, ruby crystal is a better choice. (Cost after being sold: 120) - Buy this if there is a very scary enemy mid laner that you really need defense against. (i.e. Fizz or Ryze) If you get this, just build Abyssal Scepter or Spirit Visage after Zhonya's Hourglass instead of Rabadon's Deathcap. - This item is great, but I don't like it on Vladimir. It delays your core items in trade for an early game power spike. I would say this item is core on almost any AP champion except for Vladimir. This item can work on him, but you have to build a very specific way to make it work.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/5dTSDBp.png?1] Vladimir is often classified as an easy champion who doesn't take any skill to play, but this is untrue. He is easy only in the sense that he has no skill shots. As Vlad, there are several things that can really make the difference between a kill rather than a death or a win rather than a loss, and they aren't global mechanics like map awareness and not getting caught. [title]Lane Phase:[/title] Stacking Tides of Blood Having your E stacked at the right times is crucial. Having your E stacked causes your E to deal double damage, and gives you godly sustain once you have Hextech revolver. So, when do you stack E? These are the cases that you stack your E - When you have Hextech revolver - When you are level 7 or higher - When you are trading constantly, and are using HP pots. (Stacks on your actually make your HP pots heal for more!)* Don't keep your E stacked unless you CONSTANTLY need to use it. Cooldown Management Vlad does not have mana costs, and lane phase is based around tranfusion and it's cooldown. You need to know how to act when it is on cooldown and when it is off cooldown. It is also imperative that you know the cooldowns of the enemy's key spells, usually their gap closer or crowd control spell. I would highly recommend that, in the loading screen, you look up the enemy champion on the wiki to find out what their cooldowns are. (This is more for top lane) When laning against a melee champ as any ranged champ, the key is maneuvering around their gap closer. If they use it, you have back off of the trade and punish them when they back off as well. Punish them for every inch they pushed past your melee minions. Also, punish them until their key spell is off cooldown, as they cannot respond until it is up again. (This is more for laning mid) When laning against a ranged opponent, they usually have one spell that sets up their other spells. They are usually skill shot CC spells, such as [imgsmall=skills/morgana/q.png], [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] or [imgsmall=skills/veigar/e.png]. Ranged champions can still respond to you when their key spells are down, so don't extend too far to harass them. Sanguine Pool The use of this spell is a big part of what separates a good Vladimir from a bad Vladimir. - Going for a kill: If you are against a melee champ, it's important that you stay back, so save pool to dodge an important skill or to space yourself after they use their gap closer. If you are against a ranged champion, use it for damage unless you need to dodge a certain spell. It does a considerable amount of damage, but dodging a high damage/CC spell is more valuable. Do both at once if you can. If you are ganking or fighting an opponent who is trying to run, use pool for CC. - Trading: Pool is usually not a good thing to trade with because it costs 20% of your current health. However, if you will take more than 25% of your health, it is probably worth it to pool. Keep in mind that it has a massive cooldown. - Baiting: Pool is a great baiting tool, and saving it can really turn the tables. If the enemy sees you at low health and they are full health, they may go for a dive, but using pool will force them away. Sometimes you can get kills, burn their summoner spells, or just get yourself killed trying this. - Being ganked: Saving your pool to avoid a key CC spell is almost always the way to go. Try to avoid letting their jungler applying red buff. (i.e. if Master Yi uses Alpha Striek, make sure to W before he hits you.) Make sure you know if they have a spell you can't dodge (i.e. such as [imgsmall=skills/maokai/w.png]) (See teamfight section for teamfighting with Sanguine Pool) Skill Combos: [.]E and Q This is the combo that you will use in lane to trade if you use both spells. If they are moving towards you, sit at about 650-600 range (Just outside/just inside E's range), then cast E-Q. If they are standing still, get in 600 range (The max range of Q/just inside Q range) then cast Q-E. If they are running away, or you think they will run away after you start, get in about 500-550 range and then cast E-Q (This let's you stay in Q range after your E cast animation is over.) Since you can't KNOW what the ranges are, you just have to get a feel for it. [.]R-E-Q-W-E-Q If you want to go for a kill in lane, this is the generic combo for it. Always use your R first because it makes all of your other spells (even ignite) do more damage, and make sure to use your E and Q WHENEVER they are off CD. E has a slightly longer CD and it has a cast time, so I prefer to use it first. You might not use pool in between your two E-Qs. (See the \"Sanguine Pool\" part above.) *HP pots heal for 150 over 15 seconds, or 100 over 10 seconds. 4 stacks at level 1 of E will increase healing by 16%. That is 16 extra health per 10 seconds of an HP pot, if you use E every 10 seconds. That doesn't outway the cost, but it makes it cheaper.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/vQnyufN.png?1] [title]What is Early Game?[/title] Early game is from the very beginning of the game, to the start of mid game. People will be laning and focus on farming. The only plays that will be made are jungle invades, jungle ganks, or lanes going for kills on eachother. Vladimir has a relatively weak early game. His Q is on a high cooldown and does very little damage. Not to mention, you cannot keep his E stacked, so it does half damage. Goals: Usually, your goal in lane phase will simply be to farm and survive. Vladimir scales well with gold and EXTREMELY well with levels. Also, always keep in mind that you get more than twice as strong by simply hitting level 7 and grabbing a hextech revolver. Invading: Occasionally, your team will want to invade the enemy team or the fight the enemy team while they are invading. Contrary to popular belief, Vlad is actually one of the strongest mid laners in the game for a level 1 fight. Make sure not to spend your point until it is clear whether there will be a level 1 fight or not. If there is a level 1 fight, start with W and pool under as many of them as you can. This will do a lot of AOE damage and slow many of them. Be ready to flash out to survive if you need to. MAKE SURE TO USE YOUR BASIC ATTACK. Leashing: It is always important to give your jungler a good leash. Help then at whatever buff they start with, and leash for as long as you can without missing CS. I actually like to give my jungler a smite-less leash even though I lose one or two CS from it. Warding: Starting with 9 potions and 2 wards has a very unique advantage early on, and it's not what you think it is. What's that? You thought it was the two wards? Ok, you're right. The two wards are AMAZINGLY useful at the start of the game. I cannot tell you where to ward or when because there are tons of variables, based on who is jungling, who your jungler is and who the enemy mid is. But here are a few options for warding BEFORE your first back. Tip: If you ward one side of the lane, you can just hug that side and you will be safe to matter which side they came from. Tip: If you are not full health, and the minions are not in lane, you can run into your jungle and heal off the jungle creep for free. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/2d8REJR.png] THIS IS ASSUMING I AM BLUE SIDE. FOR PURPLE SIDE, IT'S THE SAME BUT INVERTED. Ward 1: This is where I ward if I want to be safe from ganks, and I am think their jungler may invade my jungle. Ward 2: This is where I ward if I just want to be safe from ganks. (I noticed most early ganks come from that side) Ward 3: This ward is just for your jungler. I place a ward here if my jungler wants to invade, or we want to jump their jungler for a kill. You can also see when their mid laner is clearing wraiths. Ward 4: I ward here if I am only worried about their jungler invading. (i.e. Against Shyvana)

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/Pok7vDt.png?1] [title]What is Mid Game?[/title] Mid game starts when laning phase is starting to wrap up. This is when people start leaving their lanes to secure objectives or gank lanes. This is when Vladimir starts picking up steam, but also where his key weakness takes effect. I would say mid game usually starts between level 7 and 9 Roaming: Vladimir has very poor roaming ability, so you will almost never want to roam as him unless the lane you are ganking has a lot of CC, or they are sorely overextended. However, you are pretty strong when it comes to counter-roaming. If your mid laner is ganking that lane, then there will usually be a fight, letting you get close enough to do your damage. You are likely to win a skirmish like this as Vlad, especially if you are using Summoner Heal. Blue Buff: Most people don't let Vlad have blue because he has no mana, but blue is fantastic on Vladimir. The cooldown reduction from blue gives you more DPS, more poke, and more sustain. Most jungelers won't give it to you, but ask for the second blue and take it if they'll let you have it. Farming: At this point, you should be strong enough to push up your lane quickly, then peel back and take the wraith camp or wolf camp. Keep your focus on your lane, though. If you lose sight of your enemy mid laner and don't know where they headed, it could result in disaster for your team.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/UNzqGVF.png?1] [title]What is Late Game?[/title] Late game starts when laning phase ends. At this point, teams are staying together and going for objectives together. The only things lanes are good for is clearing a wave to push it up, and the gold from turrets. Baron starts to become more important, and dragon starts to become less important. Sieging Turrets Vladimir is very good at sieging turrets. His ranged autoattack lets him hit the turrets safely from afar, he builds a lot of AP, and you have such good sustain that you ignore the enemies poke. Vladimir basically get baron buff for free. Clear the minion wave with your E to push up to the turret. Then use your basic attack to put damage onto the turret, but don't commit fully to it. If they run towards you, back off and wait for them to back off as well. You want to slowly poke down the turret as opposed to a full teamfight under their turret if possible. Being Sieged If your team is behind, you will probably find yourself in this situation. Their team groups as five, and pushes into one of your turrets, while your team groups to defend it. The enemy team will push up the minion wave, and then try to put as much damage on it as they can before their minions die. Vladimir has good creep clear, but keep in mind that it has a fairly short range. Use your E to clear the melee minions, but be careful if you go for the caster minions, as stepping to close could get you killed. If you feel the enemy team has overextended, don't hesitate to engage with a Flash-R-(E)-Q-W. [title]Baron[/title] Baron Nashor becomes a more and more important figure as the game goes on. So, what does it offer your team? - 300 gold to each player and 25 to whoever kills it. That is 1525 global gold. That is the equivalent of two turrets. - Up to 40 AD and AP on each champion. - 3% of your maximum health regenerated every 5 seconds. - 1% of your maximum mana regenerate every 5 seconds. So, what does obtaining baron accomplish? Taking baron gives your team a considerable amount of gold to your entire team, increasing your team's global gold. The extra AD and AP gives your side a big edge in a teamfight, and the mana and health regeneration will allow your team to sustain the enemy's poke while sieging turrets. It is also worth noting that baron buff will out-heal the health cost of stacking your E. Baron Dance When both teams are posturing and maneuvering around baron is called the \"Baron Dance.\" This occurs when one team is trying to get baron, but knows they cannot start killing baron and still win a fight if the enemy comes down, or when one team is trying to force a teamfight. One team will buy an oracles and a vision ward, and clear all vision of baron while the other team struggles to maintain vision of Baron. Eventually, this forces the team without vision to either retreat, or blindly walk to baron to acquire vision. What's Vladimir's role in all of this? Vladimir does not have any vision granting spells, so there are only two things for you to do. 1. Buy wards/Vision wards or oracles. 2. Patiently wait for a teamfight to break out. Keep in mind that Vladimir has trouble with these long baron baits because you have to keep your E stacked. So, you have to use your Q to heal occasionally. Tell your team to NOT clear the wraith camp if you are purple side, or the wolf camp if you are blue side. When you are starting to get low on health (when you are at about 3/4) back off and Q the jungle creep until you are full. DO NOT KILL THEM. You will need to keep them alive so you have a target to heal off of.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/ayMXMm4.png?1] [title]What is my role?[/title] Vladimir does one key thing well: DAMAGE. You have almost zero CC, so your entire role is to do damage, and I don't think any AP champs do it better, not even Karthus. However, there is something else Vlad does in teamfights: Disruption. Being in the center of their team will force them all to focus you, but now you can't be targeted, now you aren't, now you are. It really causes massive disarray at best, forces them to choose between face tanking all your damage or spreading out. [title]How do I execute it?[/title] Ideal Situation At the very start, use hemoplague on as many of them as you can. Do not stretch too far to land your ult on their squishies, hitting three of them (the tank, bruiser and one other) is a very good ult. Use E and Q immediately after your ultimate gets casted. Then pool under their front line into the middle of their team, as close to their carry as you can while being in range of their front line. When your W ends, come up and immediately use E and Q the highest priority target in range (ADC>AP>Bruiser>Tank>Support). Now it is time to use zhonya's, but wait until they start focusing you or you are scared of getting CC'd. By the time you are out of stasis, your E and Q should be up so use them. At this point, if they still have a team, you should be running to the outskirts and trying to survive until pool comes up again. This is where you use your summoner spells to try and stay alive/mop up the remainder of their team. This is why we take heal/flash. In short, here is the combo: R-E-Q-W-E-Q-Zhonya's-E-Q-Heal(/Flash)-E-Q-W-E-Q Against Heavy CC If the enemy team has strong CC, you CANNOT afford to be locked down. The only crowd control spells that matter are silences, suppresses, and stuns. Any other CC is just annoying, but those are deadly. To deal with it you can either 1. Buy QSS or 2. Change your combo to avoid CC. If they have a big stun/silence you may have to use Zhonya's soon. Keep in mind that your E has a long cast time but your Q is almost instant. That means you can usually Q before an emergency Zhonya's. If they stand around waiting for pool to be over, then you have pretty much taunted them for a second and a half, and sometimes they will stand still waiting for Zhonya's to be over. DO NOT DIE BEFORE YOU ZHONYA'S. If you do, you have effectively whiffed all of your spells. Imagine a Lux in a teamfight that misses her Q, E, and R. CHAMPIONS YOU MUST BUY QSS AGAINST: [imgsmall=champ/chogath.png][imgsmall=champ/garen.png][imgsmall=champ/galio.png][imgsmall=champ/malzahar.png][imgsmall=champ/skarner.png][imgsmall=champ/soraka.png]. Against Burst: All you have to do against high burst is use your Zhonya's to dodge a very high damage spell or two, or just follow your normal combo if it is not used on you immediately. [title]What Happens?[/title] Basically, a Vladimir in the middle of your team works like Morgana. You go into the middle of their team and force them to flee or face your wrath. Only, unlike Morgana. you aren't spent once your ult is done, you are a massive threat as long as you are alive and can have up to three invulnerability periods with a minimum of two. Now let's look at an imaginary, hypothetical teamfight. Vlad dives into the middle of the enemy team. The bruiser and tank, seeing a carry in the middle of the fight, turn back to take you out. The carry comes in autoattack range and their whole team is grouped around you. You come out of pool and use two spells, nuking the enemy ADC for half his health before slipping into zhonya's. Meanwhile the rest of your team has been going freely on the enemy team for a full second or two. This forces the enemy front line to dive in while the ADC has a choice between staying completely zoned from the fight, or getting nuked for the rest of his life and has to wait for Zhonya's to expire. The enemy AP carry finally gets a chance to burst you, but you will probably survive with Summoner Heal, and it is too late by then anyway. The enemy front line is dead and you have lived with about a quarter of you health left while your team chases down and cleans up the rest of their team. Obviously, that is an ideal situation where the enemy team did not know to deal with you and did everything wrong. However, this is what happens all the time, especially in lower elo. However, the only good way to deal with \"Vlad the Untouchable\" in a teamfight is to lock him down with CC and/or take him out with high burst. Fortunately there is a summoner spell and an item for that! Actually, I lied. There is one other thing you can do. Something that is extremely effective against Vladimir. Poke or split push compositions. If your team does not have an extremely good engage against a poke comp, you are almost useless unless you get a full engage. Try not to pick into a comp like that. Any team that is good at NOT engaging or wins the game without teamfighting renders you almost useless.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/5K1kA0p.png?1] [title]Key:[/title] Difficulty: Easy: An Easy win. Be aggressive. Easy-Medium: You have a slight advantage. You can be aggressive, but be careful not to overextend. This will usually a farm lane. Medium: A skill matchup. Wait for the enemy to make a mistake before being aggressive. This will usually a farm lane. Medium-Hard: Your enemy has a slight advantage. Play defensively, but don't be afraid to hold your own. This will usually a farm lane. Hard: A losing lane. Play passively and don't fight them unless you have to. Starting Items: A choice of one or two starting builds. If there are two options, it's up to your discretion. Pre-Six: A description of how the lane goes before level six. Post-Six: A description of how the lane goes after level six. Key Spell: Most champions have a key spell that you should dodge with pool. On most midlle laners, this spell is a CC or high damage spell. Roaming: This section talks about how potent the enemy's roaming is and what you should do about it. Following your opponent when they roam is too situational for me say for sure whether you should or not. I do say whether it is safe to follow up the river or not. If you want to follow, but following up the river isn't safe, then go through your own jungle. Did I win? This section tells whether or not you won lane. Vladimir scales extremely well into late game, so often times you can win lane phase just by surviving it. Most people think they have won lane if they win in CS or kill, but some champions are stronger early game at the expense of their late game. Vladimir is the opposite, so don't be discouraged if you fall behind early on. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/ahri/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/ahri/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/ahri/w.png][imgsmall=skills/ahri/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/ahri/r.png] Starting items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Try to farm up and make sure you are ready to dodge her Q. If she leaves her self open to it, feel free to use transfusion on her, but do NOT venture out from behind your minions. If she lands charm on you, you are in for some pain. When you find yourself about to be hit by a charm, use your pool if you can't dodge it. If she lets you get in range, you outrade her badly if she doesn't land a charm. Post-Six: She gets much more from level 6 than you do. You still trade with her well, but she has decent kill pressure. However, she will not be able to 100-0 you unless you sorely overextend. Don't try to fight her one on one unless you are really ahead. Tell your jungler not to gank unless he just wants to burn her ultimate. Roaming: This is the most important part. Ahri is a very strong roamer. It can be dangerous to counter roam her, so you will want to find out where she was headed, and then punish her by pushing into tower and stealing their wraiths or taking your own wraiths. Key Spell: [imgsmall=skills/ahri/e.png]: This is the spell that sets up the rest of her damage. When it is on cooldown, be aggressive. Don't extend too far, as charging straight forward is begging to take her Q to the face. Did I win? If you haven't died more than once to her, she hasn't successfully ganked, and you aren't terribly behind her on CS, you have won lane. You should be able to outfarm her if their jungler doesn't pressure you too much. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/akali/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/akali/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/akali/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/akali/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/akali/r.png] Starting items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking MR glyphs. Pre-Six: At this point, the lane is incredibly easy. You have to be aggressive now otherwise she will beat you hard at six. Ward well and constantly harass her with Q and basic attacks. Whatever you do, do NOT let her get into melee range, as she does tons of damage, she just can't get close to you. If she uses her shroud, just stay back until it fades. Remember that your E still hits her while she is invisible. Post-Six: This is where things get scary. If you did not beat her early on, she will start to beat you here pretty badly. Keep your E stacked and consider buying a negatron cloak. If she jumps on you every time she can, tell your jungler to gank and she will be an easy kill. Roaming: She has good damage if she roams on an overextended lane, but her lack of CC means that most ganks will prove fruitless. Adequate warding and \"Mia\" calls will be enough. If she keeps trying to roam, just shove her into turret and she will fall behind quickly. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/akali/q.png]: This is her main damage spell. If you are fighting her, dodge it to diminish a lot of damage and her energy return mechanism. However, you will almost never want to go head to head with her. Did I win? If you haven't fed her too many kills, she hasn't ganked successfully, or you aren't terribly behind on CS, then you have won lane. Outfarming her will be easy if she doesn't have kill pressure on you. Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/anivia/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/anivia/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/anivia/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/anivia/r.png] Starting items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking MR glyphs Pre-Six: This part of the lane is easy. Just harass her when you can, and make sure to dodge her flash frosts. If she misses it, then she is a sitting duck (Pun intended) until it is back up. Usually, if you run towards an Anivia, she will run away from you, and then turn to Q you. The moment she starts to turn around, take a sharp left or right to dodge it. If they shoot it at you without running away first, you have to rely on dodging based on the cast animation. If one is about to hit you, you should Pool it just to be safe. You never know if the jungler is waiting to gank you. ALWAYS REMEMBER HER EGG. You can see if it is up by clicking on her. If the egg is blue, it's up. If it's white, it isn't. Post-Six: This is where the lane is difficult. Just farm from a safe distance. At this point, there are two things she may do. 1. Wipe the creep wave with her ultimate: This is what you'd prefer her to do. Just stack E and clear it right back. (only if you have hextech revolver to sustain you.) This is the most likely case, but that's good. You like a farm lane. 2. Use her ultimate to poke you with frostbite every time you come in range: This will be very annoying. She can zone you very hard at this point. Just farm the best you can safely. She will probably miss a lot of CS if she isn't using spells to wipe the wave. Call for a jungle gank if it starts getting bad. Roaming: She probably won't roam, but keep track the best you can anyway. Warding the enemy wraiths is usually the best way to do this. You may even be able to steal big wraith over the wall if you are sneaky (and ballsy). Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/anivia/q.png]: This is by far the most dangerous spell she has. Dodge it with pool pretty much whenever it is about to hit you. Did I win? If you beat her in CS, haven't died, and she hasn't somehow ganked successfully, you have won. She should outfarm you, but you will outfarm her if you outplay her. Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/annie/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/annie/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/annie/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/annie/r.png] Starting items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Take Barrier and MR glyphs if possible. Pre-Six: She has good harass with her Q and W, but will likely run out of mana before you will run out of potions. If she gets in range to Q you, turn and Q-E her. After she Q-Ws you once, she doesn't have anything else, so running an extra inch won't do anything and you won't be able to return trade if you wait until after she stuns you. Post-Six: Buy a ruby crystal for burst protection if you don't have barrier, and try to stay at full HP. If she has stun, she may go for a kill at any time with Tibbers. You should be able to withstand her burst, especially if you take barrier. Fun fact, if you take cleanse, you can cleanse the stun on her ult, and then dodge her other two spells with pool. (DO NOT TRY TO DODGE HER ULT WITH POOl. IF YOU POOL AND SHE DOESN'T ULT, YOU ARE BONED UNTIL IT COMES BACK UP.) Roaming: Annie is a decent roamer. Just ward and call where she is headed if she leaves lane. It is not safe to follow her when she roams unless you have constant vision on her. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/annie/q.png]: This is the only spell that is dodge-able without being lucky. If you want to dodge damage, dodge this spell. Annies usually maxes it first. Did I win? If she didn't kill you more than twice or roam successfully, you have won lane. You need to lose REALLY bad in CS to lose lane. It should be easy to outfarm her. Difficulty: Easy-Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/brand/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/brand/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/brand/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/brand/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/brand/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking movement speed quintessences Pre-Six: Brand is basically a less scary Annie with better harass. If you dodge his pillar of flame and farm, you will be fine. If he steps too close, feel free to Q him, but do not extend past your melee minions. Post-Six: He gets scarier at level 6, but not by much. Just don't get hit by his full burst and you will be fine. Farm up and shove him into turret, just don't get hit by his Q. Roaming: He is very bad at roaming, but make sure to call mia and where he was headed if he leaves lane. It is safe to follow him, but be ready to pool if he jumps you. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/brand/q.png]: If he doesn't stun you, he will not be able to land his full combo. Did I win? If you didn't feed or lose horribly in CS, you have won lane. Outfarming him should be a breeze. Difficulty: Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/cassiopeia/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/cassiopeia/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/cassiopeia/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/cassiopiea/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/cassiopeia/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking Movement Speed quintessences and MR glyphs. Pre-Six: She will spam her Q to no end. Welcome to dodging class. Farm the best you can, and don't harass her unless she overextends. If she comes in and casts her E on you, trade with her once and then run. Post-Six: Nothing really changes, but she can now kill you if she catches you facing her. If you Q her, turn back IMMEDIATELY. Roaming: She is a mediocre roamer, but call mia and where she was going when she leaves. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/cassiopeia/r.png]: She has a slight cast time on her ult, which gives you warning so you can pool in time. To learn what it looks like, play Cassiopea in a bot game and get a feel for her ultimate's cast time if you can. She has really short cooldowns, so no other spells she has are worth dodging. Did I win? If she didn't kill you more than once and you aren't more than 20-30 CS behind behind her, then you have won lane. Outfarming her will be easy if she lets you, but if she is aggressive and tries to zone you, it will be hard. Difficulty: Easy Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/chogath/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/chogath/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/chogath/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/chogath/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/chogath/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Harass him as much as you can early on. If you outplay him enough, you will out harass his sustain with Qs, Es and autoattacks. If you don't zone him at level 4, then just play passive and prepare for a boring farm lane. Just don't get hit by his rupture and you will be fine. Post-Six: Nothing changes here. He will just start eating minions. If his ultimate up, he has quite a lot of burst, so keep that in mind. Roaming: His roaming is REALLY strong. Ward well and ward your lane. It is safe to follow him. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/chogath/q.png]: Just pool if it is about to hit you. Unless you KNOW he won't follow it up with anything. Did I win? If you didn't die (somehow) or lose by more than 10-20 CS, you have won lane. Farm will be even assuming equal skill. I have not seen a single Diana since she was nerfed, so I cannot judge this matchup. Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/diana/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/diana/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/diana/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/diana/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/diana/r.png] Difficulty: Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/elise/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/elise/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/elise/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/elise/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Take MR glyphs if at all possible. Pre-Six: E-Q if she comes up to Q you, and DO NOT GET HIT BY HER STUN. If she jumps on you in spider form, run away and do not harass her as she runs back unless you know her stun is on cooldown. Tell your jungler that, if he ganks, there is very little chance of you killing her. Post-Six: Same as before. Nothing changes because you cannot kill her ever, and she doesn't get much from level 6. Roaming: Ward as well you can, and call mia. Do NOT try to follow her up river. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/elise/e.png]: In human form, this is her stun. You MUST dodge it. Did I win? If you survived lane reasonably intact are reasonably even on CS, and she hasn't ganked successfully ganked, you have won lane (And you need to wake up from your fever dream). If she pushes you to turret, you'll do fine on farm, but if she tries to shut you out, you will lose in farm. Difficulty: Easy Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/evelynn/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/evelynn/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/evelynn/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/evelynn/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/evelynn/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Harass her as much as you can. Don't let her get in melee range, but you should be able to poke her easily. If you let her get too close, she will hurt. Post-Six: Be careful not to overextend, as she will make quick work of you if she can chase you across the entire lane. PLACE A VISION WARD IN THE MIDDlE OF YOUR LANE. Roaming: Constantly have a vision ward in middle lane, and ALWAYS tell your team when she leaves and where she was headed. It is actually important to call \"re\" in this lane. Key Spell:[imgsmall=items/deathfire-grasp.png]: Her ultimate and E are instant, and her Qs aren't worth dodging, so dodge her DFG if she has it. Wait until JUST before it hits you, and she may use her ult while you are pooled. Otherwise, just use it to escape the best you can. Did I win? If she didn't gank successfully, you won lane. Difficulty: DODGE OR LANE SWAP (Almost impossible) Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Farm the best you can, but DO NOT trade with him. He will just fear and drain you, and win the trade easily. Pool does not negate his drain. You have zero presence in this lane. Post-Six: If he ults on top of you POOL IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise this lane is the same. You still have no chance. If he is being really aggressive, call for ganks. If he wards, try to find out where and pink ward it. He is vunerable to ganks because he is so squishy. Roaming: He has no pushing power, so you should always see where he goes when he leaves. Make sure you call that out. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/r.png]: If he ults on top of you, pool immediately. The only other spell you can dodge is his E, but you will probably be feared when he uses it, or he will use it to poke from afar. Did I win? If you survived, he didn't roam succesfully and didn't get crushed in CS, you have won lane. You shouldn't be able to outfarm him because you shouldn't be able to come close. Difficulty: Very Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/fizz/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/fizz/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/fizz/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/fizz/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/fizz/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Beads, four Potions, and two wards. Take MR glyphs if at all possible. Take barrier. Pre-Six: If you are top against this guy, you HAVE to go mid. There is NO chance you can do anything otherwise. Stay back, as he out-trades you at all levels, other than level 1. Pool when he jumps at you with his Q. Remember that his playful/trickster has a really long cooldown. Post-Six: Be ready to pool, because he will probably just throw his ultimate at you. If you dodge it with pool, then he will probably back off. If you get hit by the fish, pool just before the shark snaps on you, or when he jumps to you. You should probably buy a negatron to survive lane. Roaming: Ward the middle of the lane if you can, and say where he is headed when he leaves lane. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/fizz/q.png]: This is the spell that he will use to start a trade. If you pool before he hits you, he won't be able to hit you with a basic attack and apply his W. You should be able to get close enough to turret in that time to prevent him from using playful/trickster to harass you. Did I win? If you didn't die more than twice, didn't get destroyed in CS and he didn't get too many successful ganks, you have won lane. That isn't likely, though. Difficulty: Easy Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/galio/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/galio/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/galio/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/galio/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/galio/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Build into defense and get three points in tenacity. That will let you pool before his ult breaks and deals damage. Consider taking cleanse. Pre-Six: Old Mc. Vlad had a farm, e-i-e-i-o. Your harass won't hurt him much, and he won't be able to harass unless you do a really bad job of dodging. He will likely just push you into turret before level 7, and you will do that to him after level seven. Post-Six: His ult is HUGE. It won't matter much in lane unless you sorely overextend, but it will in mid game skirmishes. You probably want to have a QSS for late game teamfights. Roaming: He isn't good at roaming unless he has both flash and his ultimate. Keeping tabs on him should be very easy, and following him is no threat unless the jungler jumps you. He probably won't roam, though. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/galio/r.png]: If you take enough points in defense to get three points in tenacity, you can pool before his ult deals damage. Ultimate troll move. Did I win? If you didn't somehow die, or lose horribly in CS, you have won. Outfarming him won't be too hard, but equal farm is a likely result. Difficulty: Easy-Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/gragas/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/gragas/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/gragas/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/gragas/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/gragas/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Consider using movespeed quintessences. Pre-Six: Poke him as much as you can, as he is melee, but dodge his barrels. Keep minions between you and him so he cannot hit you with body slam. Post-Six: Just be ready to pool his ultimate if he throws it. You should avoid fighting him in a straight up fight if you can, but keep poking. Roaming: This is his main strength. Ward well and always keep tabs on him if you can. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/gragas/r.png]: Pretty easy to dodge, and it makes a HUGE difference. Did I win?Difficulty: If he didn't gank successfully, didn't kill you somehow, and didn't beat you in CS somehow, you have won lane. Outfarming him should be easy. Difficulty: Easy-Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/r.png] Starting Items: Cloth Armor and 5 pots Take armor seals is possible. Take flash Pre-Six: Focus on farming, but harass whenever you can. The only thing you have to fear from him is his E-Q combo. He will plant a flag behind you, then jump to it, knocking up anything in his path. If he puts a flag behind you, simply run to the side and you should be able to dodge it. When that is on cooldown, there is literally nothing he can do to you until it comes back off cooldown. Post-Six: The lane gets both scarier and much easier at this point. This is where you start to get enough sustain to just ignore Jarvan's damage, but it is also when he has his ultimate. As Vlad does not have a built in dash, there is no way to escape his ultimate. He shouldn't be able to kill you in it's duration, but if the jungler comes to gank and he uses his ultimate, you are in trouble. Roaming: Jarvan, like most AD mids, is a strong roamer. You will have enough lane presence to keep tabs on him, and follow him, however. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/q.png]: If he uses this spell with a flag behind you, then you should pool to dodge it if you don't think you moved out of the way in time. Did I win? If you didn't lose badly in CS, and he didn't roam successfully, you have won lane. Outfarming him should be a breeze. (I have only played this matchup on toplane, so it may not be the most accurate.) Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/jayce/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/jayce/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/jayce/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/jayce/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/jayce/r.png] Starting Items: Cloth and 5 pots Take armor seal if possible. Pre-Six: Poke him aggressively early on, but once he hits level 3, start being careful. Hold your own in lane, but keep in mind that he can trade with you decently at range, and beat you up at melee range. If he jumps on you, try to do as much damage as you can, because he will just knock you away at the end of his combo. Try to farm the best that you can. NOTE: If he was in melee form and switches into ranged form, BACK UP. He can shoot three times rapidly and out trade you. Post-Six: Nothing changes at level 6. You are just getting closer to level 9, where you can beat him. Roaming: Jayce is a fairly strong roamer. Keep him pushed into tower if you can. He clears minions waves really quickly, so ward well to keep track of him. Do not follow him up river. Key Spell: There isn't really a key spell for Jayce. It depends on how it's going. If you want to dodge his most damaging spell, dodge his ranged form Q. If you want to dodge his CC, dodge his melee form E. Did I win? If you didn't lose in CS by more than 20 or so and he didn't roam successfully, you have won lane. Outfarming him will either be easy, or impossible depending on how much pressure he puts on you and who outplays who. Difficulty: Easy Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/karthus/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/karthus/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/karthus/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/karthus/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/karthus/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking Ignite. Pre-Six: Aggressively harass him as there isn't much he can do to respond. He will likely try to last hit with his Q, and there is a fun trick to deny him farm. In the first few levels (before level 5), stand near your low health minions. If he Qs one, intentionally get hit by it. His Qs do half damage if they hit two or more targets. Don't do this if the minion is really low, however. You will take damage, but it won't hurt much before level 5, and you have plenty of health potions. Just be careful not to extend to far, otherwise he will slow you will wall of pain and land quite a few Qs on you. Consider pooling to safety. Post-Six: Always remember his ultimate, as it can turn a free kill into a death. Summoner heal will counter his ultimate, but ignite will give you much more pressure, so it's up to you. At level 7, you can probably win a duel, but don't bother as it is too risky. Just poke him relentlessly and zone him. Make sure to ward well otherwise their jungler will destroy you. Karthus usually runs exhaust, so always keep it in mind if he has it. Roaming: Karthus doesn't roam, he uses his ultimate. There isn't really much you can do about it, other than calling out when he hits level 6, and trying to keep track of when it is on or off cooldown. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/karthus/r.png]: Pool will dodge all the damage from his ultimate Did I win? If you have more items than him, and his ultimates didn't lose a lane for you team, you have won lane. You should outfarm him if you zone him, but he'll outfarm you if you don't. Difficulty: Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/kassadin/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/kassadin/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/kassadin/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/kassadin/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/kassadin/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Take MR glyphs if possible. Consider taking cleanse. Pre-Six: Kassadin is weak before level 6, so make sure you pressure him as much as you can, and make sure to abuse your ranged autoattacks. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF HIS Q. I see a lot of players that are scared of just Kassadin's Q, but if you play passive before level 6, you have no chance. You have to beat him up early game if you want to have a chance after level 6. Post-Six: This is where the lane becomes a nightmare. He will gain the ability to teleport almost anywhere in your lane instantly, and will probably have blue buff and never run out of mana. If he is using his ultimate to harass you, tell your jungler and beg for a gank. His ultimate has a 7 second cooldown at level 1, so you and you jungler should be able to either kill him, or take him really low before he can escape again. If he is smart, he will save his ultimate and harass you with Q and E and save his ultimate for ganks. There is nothing you can do about this, other than asking for blue buff, rushing hextech revolver and then grabbing a negatron cloak. Consider buying Mercury Treads. Roaming: This is where Kassidin is scary. He is one of the best roaming mid laners in the game. Unfortunately, he is so mobile and strong that there is nothing you can do to prevent his roaming other than warding really well and calling out where he was headed when last seen. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/kassadin/q.png]: is what you need to dodge with pool if you think he's going for a kill on you. If you wait for the last second before his silence his, you may be able to dodge his E as well. Did I win? If he didn't beat you badly in levels or CS and didn't get more than one or two successful ganks, you may have won lane. Outfarming him is easy if he is always roaming, but impossible if he is pressuring you in lane. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/katarina/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/katarina/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/katarina/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/katarina/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/katarina/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Poke her aggressively with Qs and basic attacks. Once she hits level 4, start to play more passively, as she can trade with you well at this point. Once she gets to that point, just try to farm and only trade with her if she jumps on you, or leaves her self open to it. If she shunpos onto you, and runs away afterwards, wale on her with basic attacks until she gets back behind her creeps. Post-Six: For most champions, this is when katarina becomes a nightmare. Fortunately for you, you have sanguine pool, the most trolltastic spell in the league. ALWAYS dodge her ultimate with pool, and save pool for when she casts it. Roaming: Katarina is a very strong roamer, but lacks crowd control, so ample map vision and mia calls should stop her. The most scary thing about her is her ganking/tower diving bottom lane. If she is mia, and you don't know where she went, ping bottom lane to be careful. It is safe to follow her, but there likely won't be a point, unless you want to save turret after your teammates die. There is no better champion for mid game skirmishes than Kat. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/katarina/r.png]: Simply pool as soon as she starts channeling her ultimate in lane. Try to save your pool for her ultimate, and always play very passively if she has her ultimate and you don't have pool. Did I win? If you beat her in CS and she didn't roam successfully, you have won lane. The player that wins in farm will almost always be the better player. Haven't played this matchup yet, but I imagine it would be almost impossible. I would run armor seals, start cloth and five, take barrier, and farm very passively, but I don't know for sure how it would go. Skill Set: Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/khazix/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/khazix/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/khazix/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/khazix/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/khazix/r.png] Medium Difficulty: Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/leblanc/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/leblanc/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/leblanc/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/leblanc/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/leblanc/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking MR glyphs. Pre-Six: Remember, Leblanc is very weak before level 6, and does no damage at level 1. At level 2, she has a good damage poke, but don't be scared. Her W has an 18 second cooldown. If she casts Q on you, back up and you may dodge her W. But if you didn't get hit, try to get your life back and keep farming remember that she cannot do anything without her W up, as long as you don't let yourself get hit by her chain. ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND: When Leblanc hits you with Sigil of Silence (her Q) the next spell that hits you will silence you and do extra damage. Remember to pool the second spell when you get ganked, otherwise you will die before you can pool. Post-Six: This is where Leblanc normally becomes are horror, but luckily, you are Vladimir! All you have to do is pool when she casts her ultimate. Watch her very closely, and when she shoots a purple ball at you, use pool immediately. Do not pool before she casts it. When her ultimate is down, the lane is the same as pre-six. It has a 40 second cooldown at level 1. If you do not have the reaction time to dodge her ultimate, you are in for a tough lane. Roaming: This is where Leblanc excels. Ward well, and ALWAYS CALL MIA AND WHERE SHE WAS HEADED. When she isn't in lane, push her into tower, and then go farm the jungle. If you keep this up, she will quickly fade into irrelevance. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/leblanc/r.png]: Her whole kit revolves around her hitting you with a Q-R to silence you for a major burst. If you pool dodge her ultimate, she has missed out on almost half her burst. Did I win? If she didn't get hyper fed, and snowball other lanes with ganks, you have won lane. Outfarming her will be a breeze. Difficulty: Easy Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/lux/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/lux/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/lux/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/lux/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/lux/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: There is nothing to be afraid of, other than being hit by too many of her Es. Just farm, and try your best to dodge her poke. If she comes up to you to autoattack you and proc her passive, don't run, just walk up to her and Q-E her. You will have heavily outraded her. Once you get hextech revolver, she can't touch you. Just be careful not to be too aggressive, because she out-ranges you badly. Post-Six: Normally, she would become a threat to you in lane with her ultimate, but you are Vlad! If she lands a snare on you, and decides to burst you with her ultimate, just pool and laugh as she does no damage to you. Roaming: Lux is a decent roamer, so make sure to shove her into turret, and keep tabs on her at all times. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/lux/q.png] or [imgsmall=skills/lux/r.png]: If you are being ganked, or are about halfway up your lane, pool to dodge her Q. Otherwise, just let it hit you and wait for her to cast her ultimate on you, and doge THAT with pool. Did I win? If you didn't lose by more than 15 or so CS, and she didn't roam successfully, you have won lane. You will outfarm her if you don't get outplayed. Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/malzahar/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/malzahar/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/malzahar/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/malzahar/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/malzahar/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking MR glyphs. Buy Quick Silver Sash after Zhonya's Hourglass. Pre-Six: Just farm up the best you can, and don't play aggressively. If Malefic Visions kills it's target, it will move on to the closest target, so don't stand to close to a minion that is effected by it. He will just push you into turret all day, so get used to last hitting under turret. Post-Six: Malzahar gets much scarier when he gets his ultimate. However, Vladimir is tanky enough to survive Malzhar's full burst. Just make sure you don't get too close to him if you are at less than 80% HP. Consider buying a ruby crystal for burst protection. Roaming: Malzahar is either good at roaming, or horrible for roaming. If he catches some one out of position, Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/malzahar/q.png]: If you need to dodge a spell of Malzahar's. Q. It is the only spell that you can dodge (other than his pool, sort of), and the silence can really make you sad. Did I win? If he didn't demolish you in CS or kill you more than twice, you have won lane. Difficulty: Annoying (Medium) Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Remember this about Yi. His cooldowns are ATROCIOUSLY long at early levels. Spam him with basic attacks and Qs every chance you get. Don't worry about getting hit by his Q early on. It's like kassadin, just take the harass and damage him as much as you can before he gets levels in his W. Post-Six: At this point, he will be focused on pushing and roaming. Push the wave the best you can. Stand back and wait for him to alpha strike the minion wave. the moment he does, step up and clear the wave as fast as you can. Roaming: This is the primary strength of AP yi. Follow him if you can, as there isn't any way to push him into turret. He cannot kill you alone if he catches you, so it isn't too dangerous. Yi doesn't fight so well in a 2v2 or 3v3 skirmish, so counterganking is effective. Just be careful to not let him get a reset, as that will spell doom for your whole team. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] This is how Yi's Q works. When he uses it, a little shadow shoots to four targets, and then the damage applies a second later. If you pool before the shadow hits you, you will dodge it. If you pool after the shadow hits you, it will still do damage. Did I win? There is no way to tell who wins this lane. AP Yi is a very fickle champion. Unless one of you get totally crushed, Yi could transition into either killing everyone, or doing nothing. It all depends on who gets luckier in teamfights, unless one team gets outplayed. It is almost impossible to outfarm him. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Just farm, farm and then farm some more. He will constantly push you into turret. Just don't stand near your minions, that way he has to choose between hitting you or hitting the minions. Don't bother harassing him, as his shield will negate all of your damage. Post-Six: Not much changes here. He CAN kill you if you make big mistakes, but won't be able to do much otherwise. He will just push you into tower and farm. Get used to last hitting under turret. Roaming: Mordekaiser is a pretty poor roamer. He isn't mobile, and he has no CC. As always, make sure to keep tabs on him and punish him if he leaves, but you don't have to worry much about it. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/e.png]: Dodge this spell if you are dueling him. It has a slight cast time, so if you react quickly, you can dodge it. Most of the time, there will be more important things to dodge, however. Did I win? If he doesn't kill you or beat you badly in CS, you have won lane. Ourfarming him will be very hard. Difficulty: Easy-Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/morgana/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/morgana/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/morgana/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/morgana/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/morgana/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Harass her at every chance you get, so long as you keep your minions between you and her. She cannot respond to your harass at this point, so make sure you abuse it. Just be careful to not get hit by a snare. If she hits you with one, you will either take a lot of damage, or die to a gank. Post-Six: This is where Morgana gets scary. ALWAYS keep her ultimate in mind. You cannot dodge it with pool, so if she gets close enough she can use it on you for a guaranteed hit. There is a good chance you will die as well. Here are a few tips for surviving her combo. 1. Hide in the minions! She cannot shoot her snare though minions, so if you hide in your wave she will have enough burst to kill you. 2. Flash! Flash has enough range to get out of the tether if you are at the edge. However, if she is close enough, flash will not be enough. 3. SAVE YOUR POOL! Do not pool to try to dodge her ultimate, as it will stun you anyway. Try to save it to dodge her binding, or escape the damage from tormented soil. 4. Pool at the last second! You can pool the moment before her ultimate goes off. This will let you stay untargetable for the duration of the stun. Once you come out of pool, you can dodge her snare with flash. REMEMBER: When her spells are used, she will be vunerable. They have very long cooldowns, so make sure to exploit that. Roaming: Morgana is a strong roamer, so make sure you ward well and follow her. Don't follow her straight up river, though. If you come in after she uses her ultimate, you can turn most of her ganks around. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/morgana/q.png]: If you get hit by this spell, you will be sitting still for a while. It is almost always worth it to dodge this spell with pool. Did I win? If she didn't roam well, kill you, or beat you in CS by more than 15-20 CS, you have won lane. You should be able to outfarm her if you play equally well as her.

Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/orianna/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/orianna/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/orianna/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/orianna/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/orianna/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Welcome to dodging school! I hope you enjoy your stay! You have to constantly be ready to dodge her spells. You HAVE to look up her cooldowns on the wiki, otherwise she will wreck you. Getting a good feel feel for the cooldowns on her spells is crucial, otherwise you cannot punish her for missing. Otherwise, just try to survive the lane and farm. REMEMBER: Be careful when you trade with her! Her basic attacks HURT. Post-Six: The lane actually gets easier at this point. Just make sure to save pool to dodge her ultimate. Once you get 4 levels in your Q and hextech revolver, you can sustain through a lot of her poke, so long as you don't get hit by too much of it. This lane comes down to this: If she is better at landing her harass than you are at dodging it, you will lose lane. Roaming: She is a mediocre roamer, and will probably just farm up. Make sure you have good ward coverage, but take wraiths and wolves whenever you get the chance. If she roams, it will likely be a gank in coordination with her jungler, meaning that following her will only be good for saving a turret if it's successful. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/orianna/r.png]: Save your pool for this spell. Almost no exceptions unless you are in a teamfight. Did I win? Very straightforward. If she beats you by about 10 CS, or anything equivalent, she has won lane. (NOTE: You would outscale, but Orianna is very strong against you in teamfights.) Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/pantheon/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/pantheon/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/pantheon/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/pantheon/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/pantheon/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Actually, not nearly as hard of a matchup as you'd think. He will poke you with spears, but you can trade back with Transfuse. Cooldown management is CRUCIAL in this lane. Your Q has a longer cooldown than his early on, so it's vital that you stay back if his Q is up and yours isn't. If he leaps onto you, pool if you are low on health or potions. Otherwise, just wait out his stun, sidestep his AOE spell if you can, and then punish him as he retreats back to his minions. Get a cloth armor if you didn't start with it. Then build it into Seeker's Armguard immediately after hextech revolver. Cooldown management is CRUCIAL in this lane. Make sure to look up his spells cooldowns. Post-Six: There is only one thing that changes here, he will be a massive roam threat. Roaming: This is a massive strength for pantheon. His ultimate is like a smaller Twisted Fate ultimate. Warding is crucial. Once you are level 7 and have a chain vest and a hextech revolver, you should have enough lane presence to shove him into turret. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/pantheon/w.png]: You cannot dodge the stun, but pooling will prevent him from beating you up while you are stunned. That means he cannot land a full Heartseeker Strike on you. Did I win? If he didn't crush you in lane, or roam very successfully, you have won lane. Ourfarming him should be easy if you don't get outplayed. Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/ryze/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/ryze/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/ryze/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/ryze/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/ryze/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Consider taking MR glyphs. Consider taking barrier. Pre-Six: Play passive at the start, he out-trades you. Just farm the best you can. If he landshis spells on you, you MUST respond. If he uses his snare on you, you have to E-Q him or you will lose lane. At the start, he will not have enough mana to take you out in lane unless you really mess up. Once he gets Tear of the Goddess or bluebuff, he will not have a mana problem. If he is being very aggressive and using his W to trade with you, call for your jungler to come gank, you cannot let him get away with that. His burst is very predicable and fast, so barrier works well. (Yes, I know Ryze deals damage over a long time, but I like to call it \"sustained burst damage.\") Post-Six: Ryze gets two things from level 6. He gets creep clear and a gap closer. Always remember that he can use his ultimate to gain movespeed and catch you. Once you are level 7 or so with hextech revolver, your sustain should help you to survive the lane. Use your E-Q to trade with him. He will have won this trade heavily, but dont' fear. Just play passively and spam your Q every chance you get on minions. Once you get your health back, repeat this trade. This will give you enough lane presence to CS freely. Do not get anywhere near him if your Q is down. IF HE USES HIS ULTIMATE AND CASTS E WHILE YOU ARE IN A MINION WAVE, YOU MUST POOL IT. The AOE damage from all of the bounces, and the AOE from his ultimate will melt you. Buy a negatron cloak if you need the lane presence. Roaming: Ryze is a mediocre roamer that does nothing special. Good enough warding and following through your jungle should keep him in check. If you see him leaving, just ping careful to whichever lane he is headed to, push him into tower then farm your wraiths/wolves or their wraiths. Only follow if you think you can turn the gank into your favor. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/ryze/q.png]: This is his highest damage spell, so it's the only thing to pool (you cannot dodge his snare). The only other thing you should dodge is his E if you are in a minion wave. Did I win? Whoever has more gold or made more plays has won lane. You both have even scaling. If he doesn't pressure you too much, you should outfarm him. Difficulty: DODGE OR LANE SWAP (Almost impossible) Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/swain/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/swain/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/swain/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/swain/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/swain/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Take MR glyphs if possible. Consider taking exhaust or barrier. Pre-Six: Farm the best you can and play passively. If he is zoning you, spend your time begging for a lane swap or jungle ganks. Forutnately, Vladimir is a great top laner, so you should be able to lane swap. Unfortunately, if he follows you top lane he can bully you even harder. Remember that pooling while his Q is on you will not stop the damage or the slow. Post-Six: This is the level that seals your fate, not that you could have done anything in the first place. Any pathetic damage you put on him will be sustained back, and any CC he lands on you will result in massive damage. All you can do is kill every creep that he allows you to get. Get a negatron after hextech revoler. Roaming: The only saving grace is that Swain does not roam well. Do what you can keep vision on him, and call out where he is headed. Unforutunately, if Swain tags up with his jungler to invade your buffs once he is level 6, there isn't much you can do to stop it if you don't outnumber them. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/swain/w.png] If he lands his snare on you, you are probably dead. Did I win? Unless he disconnects or your jungler is mid 24/7, you cannot win lane. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/syndra/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/syndra/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/syndra/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/syndra/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/syndra/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Welcome to dodging class! She will spam her ball on you, grab anything she can get her little black tentacles and chuck it at you. If you can dodge a minion, you can dodge a ball. Cooldown management is important in this lane. If she uses her E and/or W to harass you, she is wide open. Wait for her to Q you, then just charge at her and E-Q. Do NOT underestimate her. Syndra is much stronger than anyone gives her credit for. Post-Six: This is where Syndra would become a major problem in lane. She is like a long ranged Annie. However, your kit hard counters hers. Just sustain through all of her poke, and pool her ultimate if she tries to kill her. Don't bother harassing her unless she overextends. Just shove her into turret and farm. Roaming: If she roams successfully, you should feel bad. You should just shove her into turret non-stop and farm jungle. As always, make sure you have ward coverage. If you see her roaming, either go for turret or follow her, depending. If you are winning lane, follow. If you are even or losing, go for turret. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/syndra/r.png]: Your pool will dodge every point of damage for her ultimate. Make sure you ALWAYS save pool for it, unless you KNOW you will get a kill by using it. Did I win? I wish I could answer this, but I have not seen enough of her to know how she fares late game. I am pretty sure you outscale her, though. Difficulty: Medium-Hard Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/talon/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/talon/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/talon/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/talon/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/talon/r.png] Starting Items: Cloth and 5 pots Pre-Six: Remember that you are ranged and he is melee. For the first two levels, don't be scared to spam him with basic attacks and Qs, his W won't hurt much. When he hits level 3, you have to be afraid of him. He will jump to you and hit you with mad burst. When he jumps on you, just run away. When he turns to go back to his creep, E-Q him and hit him with basic attacks as much as you can. He will not be able to jump on you for another 18 seconds and his W will be down for 10, so pressure him while it is on CD. If he is jumping on you frequently, tell your jungle to gank. If he uses his E to jump to you when your jungler is there, it's a free kill. Post-Six: The lane gets scarier here. His ultimate gives him much more burst, but he should not be able to take you out unless you are at about 1/2 or 3/5 health. Just remember to either pool his ultimate or his W if you can. Once you get level 7, a hextech and a chain vest, you should have enough lane presence to shove lane up. Buy a chain vest immediately after hextech revolver. Roaming: Talon is a fairly strong roamer, so make sure to keep good vision on him and call out when he is ganking. If he leaves, push him into tower. If he is not fruitful in his ganks, losing the CS will actually let you beat him up in lane if he falls a level or two behind. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/talon/q.png] Dodge this spell if you are not silenced when you cast it. If not, dodge one of the waves of his ultimate. Did I win? If he didn't beat you up badly or roam well, you have won lane. If you have lane presence, outfarming him will be easy. If he is beating you up, it will be tricky. Difficulty: Easy-Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/teemo/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/teemo/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/teemo/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/teemo/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/teemo/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Poke him with Q if he comes up to you, but do not use basic attacks unless he is trading while your minions are beating on him. Get E at level 2 and use that to trade as well. He will win early trades slightly, so focus on farm, but don't be scared to trade with him if he comes up to you. You should have enough health potions to live until you have hextech revolver. NOTE: Some Teemos are sneaky little !@#$ers. If you don't see him at the start, keep in mind he could be cloaked in the middle of your lane. Post-Six: This is where the lane can be VERY annoying. However, riot made an item just for us! If teemo is littering your lane with mushrooms, buy a vision ward and place it in the dead center of your lane. Then clean up all the mushrooms! Once you get hextech revolver and level 7, the lane is over. You will out-trade him with E-Q, and sustain through any poke he puts onto you. Just push up lane and farm, don't concern yourself with bullying him too much, as your risk throwing away the lane by stepping on a mushroom or getting ganked. Roaming: Teemo is one of the only mid laners that is a worse roamer than you! The only thing you have to worry about is him running about and putting mushrooms all over the place, making your jungler's life miserable. Tell him that an early oracles may be a good invenstment. Key Spell: Teemo is basically an ADC, there isn't a SPELL to dodge. If you want to dodge some of his damage, dodge his Q if he maxed it, or his basic attack if he maxed E. Did I win? If you didn't get destroyed in lane and his mushrooms didn't tear your teams to shred when they tried to roam the map, you have won lane. Outfarming him will be easy. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/twistedfate/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/twistedfate/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/twistedfate/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/twistedfate/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/twistedfate/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Just farm. If he is good, he won't let you harass him, and if you are good, you won't get whittled down by his poke. Post-Six: Nothing changes except his roaming. (See roaming section) Roaming: This is the entire lane phase. He will want to gank, and you need to be big brother monitor his every move. It is best to ward in the middle of your lane, like this: [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/A66ZxCD.png] When he clears the minion wave, you will see which way he was headed if he goes to gank. IMMEDIATELY call mia and ping careful to the lane he was headed. YOU MUST DO THIS. If you do not spam the chat with mia calls and care pings or your team doesn't react, TF will snowball other lanes and win the game. The lane itself is easy, but picking Vladimir against TF is a bad idea, because you can't stop his roaming. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/twistedfate/e.png] If he throws a yellow card at you, you can dodge it with pool. Did I win? If he didn't successfully gank enough, you have won lane, you heavily outscale him. Whoever plays better will win on farm. Difficulty: Easy Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/veigar/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/veigar/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/veigar/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/veigar/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/veigar/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Just harass him as much as you can early on, he has no response. Just be careful about being ganked, as his stun cannot be dodged by pool, so he can set his jungler up to kill you easily. Post-Six: Normally, most mages would be in trouble here, but luckily you are Vladimir. He cannot hit you with his full burst because of pool. If you can, dodge his ultimate with pool. You must build either Mercury's treads or QSS Roaming: Veigar is not a good roamer, so you don't have to worry too much about it. Just keep him pushed into turret at all times. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/veigar/r.png]: If you can dodge that spell, do it. You HAVE to dodge it if you can, as it will nuke you for over half of your health at almost any point in the game. Did I win? If he doesn't beat you in farm, you have won lane. Outfarming him should be a breeze. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Just farm, farm and farm some more. Only poke him if he uses his Q to last hit, or walks up to trade with you. Get E at level 2. He may try to counter build you and beat you in lane, but don't take the bait. Just farm the best you can. Post-Six: Nothing changes at level 6. Roaming: Vladimir is a really poor roamer. Just make sure you have decent ward coverage, and he cannot roam. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png]: This is the only spell that can be dodged by pool. Did I win? If he didn't not rush Zhonya's or crush you, you have won lane. Pure skill matchup for farm. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set: [imgsmall=skills/xerath/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/xerath/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/xerath/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/xerath/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/xerath/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: He will try to poke you with Q, and you will try to dodge it. If he comes to close, use your spells on him. Otherwise, just focus on farming and dodging. His damage is fairly negligible, so you will be fine unless he is hitting you almost every time. Post-Six: Do NOT underestimate Xerath's burst at this point. With his ultimate, he does a lot of damage. Thankfully, you are Vladimir and can just dodge his burst with your pool. Make sure to avoid him proccing his stun on you. Roaming: Xerath is a surprisingly strong roamer. He has an extremely long ranged stun, and can turret dive from safety with his ultimate. However, he is not very mobile so ample vision and mia calls will shut down his roaming attempts. Did I win? If he didn't heavily outfarm you, or roam successfully many times, you have won lane. Outfarming him shouldn't be too hard. Difficulty: Medium Skill Set:[imgsmall=skills/zed/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/zed/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/zed/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/zed/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/zed/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Focus on farming, but don't hesitate to abuse your range and punish him for last hitting. Try to figure out whether he is maxing E or Q, because that will lend him to two very different playstyles. 1. Maxing Q: If he is maxing Q, he will almost always have his damage threat up. To harass, he will keep throwing his Q at you, but when his W is up, he will throw his shadow at you, slow you and then line up his two Qs on you for a lot of damage. This is very hard to dodge, but try to dodge at least one of the Qs. Focus on farming, but harass when he goes in for a melee last hit, but be ready to dodge his shurikens. Once you get hextech revolver, you can out-sustain his harass. 2. Maxing E: If he is maxing E, he will have much stronger trading, but will only be able to trade when his W is up. He will use his W, then E to slow you. Then he will jump to you, hit you with autos before using his E a second time and retreating. To trade, E and Q while you are slowed, and then run away. When he turns back to his creep wave, punish him with basic attacks and a second Q and/or E if possible. You probably lost this trade, but his W will be down for a while after that, so make sure to abuse your range while it is down. Post-Six: Normally, Zed will get considerable kill pressure on you. Luckily, Zed depends on doing all of his burst in a short time, and your Pool makes that impossible! Maxing Q: If he uses his ultimate, wait for him to start casting his Q and then dodge it with pool. This will negate almost all of his burst. Maxing E: When he uses his ultimate, wait until he appears behind you, and then immediately pool. He will only have a .5 second window to damage you, and you should be out of range anyway. Get seeker's armguard immediately after hextech revolver. Roaming: Zed is a very strong roamer, so you have to mantain vision and lane presence. You can trade well with him once you have hextech, so shove him into turret as much as possible. If he leaves lane, you must tell your team where he was headed. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/zed/q.png] This is his primary nuke spell whether he maxes it or not, and it isn't very hard to dodge. [imgsmall=skills/zed/w.png]-[imgsmall=skills/zed/e.png]: If you are running away from his team, and he throws his shadow on you, pool immediately to avoid the slow. Did I win? If he didn't roam successfully, or deny you a lot of level and CS, you have won lane. If you play equally, you should have a minor edge in CS. Difficulty: Medium [imgsmall=skillsziggs//p.png] [imgsmall=skills/ziggs/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/ziggs/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/ziggs/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/ziggs/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Ziggs is very annoying, but he cannot do much without blue buff. Be careful when you poke him, as he will out trade you if he lands his Q and a basic attack. He has a very unique kit, so make sure you familiarize yourself with it. Once he gets blue buff, Ziggs becomes his scary alter ego that will constantly hurl hundreds of bombs at you. NOTE: Stay away from your minions! If you stand next to your minions, a good Ziggs will just Q your minions and hit you with the splash damage. His Qs aren't very hard to dodge if you don't stand on your minions. Post-Six: I would say Ziggs doesn't get much from level six, but he actually gets the ability to 100-0 you if he lands all of his spells. I have made the mistake of trying to all in a Ziggs before, and it has been a mistake almost every time. Just farm and sustain his poke the best you can. When he has blue buff, play passively and farm from afar, but when he doesn't push him into tower. Roaming: Ziggs is a fairly weak roamer, but it's still important to keep tabs on him. If he gets close enough, he will do tons of damage, but won't do much if he doesn't get a good opportunity. That means keeping vision on him will shut him down. The only other thing you have to worry about is him throwing his ultimate from afar, but it is very rare that it will result in a kill. Key Spell:ALL OF THEM! All of Ziggs' spells have their own quirks and all of them do damage. Just dodge whatever you can, and try to dodge two if possible. Did I win? If he didn't slaughter you in CS, you have won lane. He should be able to outfarm you. Difficulty: Medium Skill set:[imgsmall=skills/zyra/p.png] [imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/zyra/r.png] Starting Items: Rejuvenation Bead, four Potions, and two wards. Pre-Six: Prioritize CS and make sure to dodge as much of her spells as you can.Be careful, because even if she misses her spells, her plants will still tear you up. I once almost lost a lane to a Zyra who missed every single spell. Not even kidding. Harass her if her E is down, but otherwise running up to her and using your spells is a bad idea. Post-Six: At this point, not too much changes. However, be careful if you don't have pool up because she can 100-0 you if you aren't careful. If you can get E and Q on her, then dodge her E with pool, then go for a kill on her. Otherwise, just play relatively passive and farm. Once you get hextech revolver and level 7, you should have no trouble sustaining through her poke. Roaming: Her roaming is fairly weak, so ample map vision will keep her in place. If she does leave, push up the way and follow. Key Spell:[imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]: This is her disable. If you get caught in the snare, you can going to be stuck there for a while. In lane phase, it will usually be worth it to dodge this spell with pool. Did I win? Zyra doesn't scale very well, so you have won lane unless she crushes you.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/whLBNsh.png?1] Presence: Medium What you pool? He will do one of two things. He will either get in range and jump at you with [imgsmall=skills/alistar/w.png], or flash and [imgsmall=skills/alistar/q.png] you. Be ready to pound W when he ganks. If he headbutts you, pool it. If he flashes on you, pool instantly. Presence: Medium What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/amumu/q.png] with pool, and you should escape his gank. If he is level six, you can try to dodge his ult with pool, but you need to predict when he is doing it to do so. It is much safer to dodge his Q. Presence: High What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/chogath/q.png] if you can, but if he silences you first, you are in trouble. You have to avoid being in that position with good warding if you can. Presence: Medium-Low What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/drmundo/q.png] if you need to, but it is only a slow. It is likely that your lane opponent will have CC that is more important to dodge. He does a lot of damage and has a good slow, so if you get caught, he will stick to you and beat you up. Presence: Low What you pool? Do everything you can to stay out of range of his [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/q.png]. There is nothing you can dodge as it is instant. If he uses his ultimate to flash onto you, use pool instantly. Presence: Medium What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/hecarim/e.png] if he is below level 6, or his [imgsmall=skills/hecarim/r.png] if he is level 6. He will almost always gank by charging up your lane from the enemy tower, so be careful not to stand to far up in lane no matter how well you warded. Presence: Medium What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/q.png] with pool if he planted a flag behind you. This will bring him to the flag and knock you up if you don't dodge it. It is especially important to ward tribush against him. Keep in mind he can jump a wall into the first river bush to gank. Presence: Medium What you pool? Make sure you are not hit by the stun from E [imgsmall=skills/jax/e.png]. If he is spinning his lamp post and jumps on you, pool just before he lands on you. Presence: High What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/leesin/q.png] if he is far away. If he uses [imgsmall=skills/leesin/w.png] to come close to you, try to dodge the second proc of [imgsmall=skills/leesin/e.png]. This will prevent him from slowing you. Presence: Medium What you pool? If he isn't levefl six, dodge [imgsmall=skills/malphite/q.png] to avoid being slowed. If he is level six, dodge [imgsmall=skills/malphite/r.png]. (You need quick fingers as his ult is FAST. Presence: High What you pool? Do NOT try to dodge [imgsmall=skills/maokai/w.png] with your pool, as you will be snared anyway. Once he snares you, dodge his [imgsmall=skills/maokai/q.png] instead. Presence: Medium What you pool? When he uses [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] on you, pool just before he can attack you if he has red buff. Otherwise he has no CC. The reason he is listed as medium rather than low, is because Vladimir has NO way to deal with him once he uses ult. You don't do enough damage to take him and have no CC to stop him. Presence: Medium-High What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/nautilus/q.png] with pool. If he is level 6 he may try to use [imgsmall=skills/nautilus/r.png] start the gank. If he does, pool the knock up from this instead. Presence: High What you pool? There is no CC you can avoid on him, so you will have to either use it to slow him, or dodge something else from the enemy top laner. If [imgsmall=skills/nocturne/r.png] gets used, start running immediately and be ready to pool. If he comes for you, you need to pool the MOMENT he collides with you. This will slow him, and hopefully prevent him from applying red buff or putting his fear tether on you. Presence: low What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/nunu/e.png] and he can't do anything. Presence: Medium-Low What you pool? Dodge his [imgsmall=skills/olaf/q.png], and he won't be able to do much. Keep in mind that he can get it off cooldown very quickly if he picks his axe back up. Presence: High What you pool? He will likely speed into lane using [imgsmall=skills/rammus/q.png]. Use pool the moment before he collides with you. Usually his Q will wear off before your pool does, and keep him out of range of his taunt. Presence: High What you pool? If you see him before he hits you, then pool right before he can slow you with his basic attacks, or the slow from him throwing his shiv. Usually, your lane opponent will have CC or damage that is worth dodging more than shaco. Presence: Medium What you pool? Just dodge his [imgsmall=skills/shen/e.png] with pool and you'll be fine. Presence: Low What you pool? The only thing she has worth dodging with pool is [imgsmall=skills/shyvana/r.png]. She is much scarier if you are top lane. Presence: Medium-High What you pool? If his claws are glowing, then pool before he can [imgsmall=skills/skarner/q.png], but it will not slow you if his claws are not glowing. If he is level 6, you need to do everything to avoid [imgsmall=skills/skarner/r.png]. If he flashes onto you, pool instantly. Do not let him get into 300 or so range of you. Presence: Low What you pool? If he charges at you with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] up, pool before he can melee attack you.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/7Hn2R57.png?1] [title]Survivability: [/title] Health: 400(+85 per level) 1930 at level 18 Armor: 12(+3.5 per level) 75 at level 18 Magic Resist: 30(+0 per level) 30 at level 18 Health Regeneration per 5 Seconds: 6(+.06) 16.8 at level 18 My Thoughts: Vladimir has slightly below average base health (though it is above average for mages), and about average HP per level. However, both of those stats are above average for a mage. Vladimir's base armor and armor scaling are below average, but are about average for mages. Everyone in the game starts with 30 MR, and Vladimir is one of many champions that don't get MR when they level up. Most mages don't get MR per level. Vladimir's Health regen is also average in every regard, which, as usual, is above average for mages. All that this means is that Vladimir is tankier than most mages. He also naturally gains health for every point of AP he builds, further increasing his natural survivability. [title]Autoattack:[/title] Attack Damage: 45(+3 per level) 99 at level 18 Attack Speed: 0.658(+2% per level) .895 at level 18 Range: 450 My thoughts: Vladimir's base, scaling AD and attack speed are all pretty bad. He has a ranged autoattack, but it is tied for the fifth shortest autoattack. That means that your autoattack will not be as effective as most champions you will face. This makes your short ranged trading slightly worse, and is part of the reason Vladimir is such a horrible duelist early game. It also makes it more important to take butcher, because last hitting will be extremely hard without it. [title]Movement:[/title] Movespeed: 335 My thoughts: Vladimir's movespeed is below average, but it is on par with most mages. It doesn't mean much, just keep in mind that Vladimir is slightly slower and will have a slightly harder time dodging skill shots than the average champion. [title]Conclusion:[/title] Vladimir has average base stats in every regard but his autoattack. However, compared to mages, he has above average stats with the sole exception of his autoattack, which is one of the worst ranged autoattacks in the game.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/wDlRUnE.png?1] [title] Passive: Crimson Pact[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is one of my favorite passives in the game. By building a lot of AP, you also get HP. This makes building resistances much more effective, as you have so much built in health. Building health to get damage is not nearly as good, however. Now here's some (approximate) math for his passive. 48 AP is about 1000 gold worth of AP. 400 Health is 1000 gold worth of Health. 48 AP will grant you about 67 HP, or about 175 gold worth in health. (However, if you took Rabadon's Deathcap and the archmage mastery, this would look different) 400 health will give you 10 AP, or about 210 gold in worth in AP. That's right, building health is actually slightly MORE cost effective than building AP. However, it is not NEARLY enough so. Looking at Vlad's kit, he has no good benefit from the health other than survivability. (The extra damage on Sanguine Pool is pretty negligible). You NEED to build AP to be relevant in the game, and lots of it. So, why not build both at once? Well, that is because the AP and health items are not very good on Vlad, and you also get a lot from resistances because of your bonus health. It is pretty obvious why you shouldn't build Rod of Ages, but what about Rylai's Crystal Scepter? Well, you are paying a lot of money for the health. You get 92 AP for 2900. You can get almost that much with only 1600 gold. You are paying 1060 for health and the slow, neither of which a very worthwhile stats for you. [title] Q: Transfusion[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] A single target nuke that does good damage and heals you as well. This spell is the reason that Vladimir scales so well with levels in lane phase. With every level you put into it, the cooldown falls, the damage increases, your dueling potential improves and your sustain amplifies. Use this spell as poke in lane, a last hitting tool, and a way to keep your health up. The life return from this spell scales off the healing buff on your E. This spell also has incredible AP scaling. 60% AP scaling doesn't seem very good, but you have to keep it's cooldown in mind. If a spell had a 5.6 cooldown with 100% AP scaling, it would have the same DPS. Not only does the damage scale with AP, but the healing effect also improves. You gain an additional 10 health return on your Q for every 40 AP. That also scales of the stacks on your E, so you actually wind up getting 13.6 health return. If you have hextech revolver, you also get more healing for your AP, so you gain 6.5 health back for every 40 AP. Basically: You gain 20 additional HP return on your Q for every 40 AP. That's a 50% AP scaling heal with your E stacked, and a hextech revolver. This spell has no cost, so you can spam it to your heart's content. I highly recommend smart-casting this spell. [title] W: Sanguine Pool[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is your signature spell. It's the spell that makes the enemy team rage, the spell that makes this whole strategy possible, the spell that makes Vladimir almost ungankable, and the spell that let's you be an initiator. This spell will make you invulnerable for it's duration. Absolutely nothing can target you, so you can go into the middle of the enemy team and not take any damage. However, any crowd control effects, DOTs, and tethers will still effect you while you are pooled. You will be able to dodge most spells by pooling before they make contact with you, but some spells still hit you if you are pooled. (See the \"What Cannot be Dodged by Pool\" chapter.) This skill is also your only crowd control. If you are chasing someone, pooling under them will slow them for 40%, and the slow will linger for an additional second after your pool expires. So, if you are chasing down an enemy champion, pooling under them will greatly help you catch them. Pool also grants a small movespeed steroid that lasts for the duration, but quickly decays over time. Keep in mind that this spell costs 20% of your current health. That means the lower health you are, the lower the health cost is. NOTE: There is an extremely short period where you can be hit, but cannot cast spells. (That or 80 ping can do that, either way keep that in mind) [title] E: Tides of Blood[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is the spell that brings Vladimir's kit together, and makes everything work and synergize well together. Every time you cast this spell, you get a stack. Each stack gives you bonus damage on your E, increases all healing effects, and increases the health cost of the spell. This stacks up to four times. You must use this spell once every 10 seconds in order to keep this effect going. You should almost always keep it stacked once you have hextech revolver. This is your highest nuke spell when it's fully stacked, it is your AOE damage spell, and it is your creep clear. It also provides some essential sustain. It grants an additional 4%/5%/6%/7%/8% healing buff per stack. This is what you gives such amazing sustain, it scales off of the heal from Transfusion and spell vamp as well. This spell is also very useful for creep clear. Keeping it stacked will let you clear an entire wave in a two casts, or a single cast if you have enough AP. Remember that it has a slight cast time, and you will not move while casting it. It also costs health, so if you are running from a gank, do not use this spell unless you plan on turning it around. [title] R: Hemoplague[/title] [title]Explanation:[/title] One of the strongest team fight ultimates in the game. The 12% damage increase on everyone effected makes your whole team hits harder on everyone who you landed it on. It also does pretty good damage as well. It is a big priority for you to hit this on as many people as possible. It will be tempting to aim for their back line, but their carry won't be getting hit as much so the 12% damage increase won't be as valuable. However, landing it on their front line will cause them to melt faster, and let your carry get through to fight. Don't get me wrong, landing it on their carry is nice, but he will be so far back that you will either have to use your ult after pool, hit only him (and maybe the support) or take a lot of extra damage while trying to line up your ult. If the carry let's you ult him easily, then go for it. Otherwise, just hit their front line.

Maxed First You will ALWAYS want to max Transfusion first. It gives massive cooldown reduction on the spell and incredible sustain. There is no chance of not maxing this spell first. Maxed Second: Tides of blood is maxed second because you need the damage. The increased sustain also helps, but you mainly need the damage. Tides of blood actually does more damage than Q when you don't consider AP scaling. Maxed Last: Sanguine pool is a spell that has nearly peak effectiveness at level one. The entire point of the spell is to make you invulnerable for 2 seconds, and you can do that at level 1 of the spell. The only real benefit to leveling this up is the cooldown reduction. You also get damage per level, but it doesn't make much difference.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/XaXWp1r.png?1] First off, if you are already effected by a crowd control effect, pool will not remove it. [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png]: Will still damage you after you pool. POSIONS: Cassiopea, Teemo, and singed all have poison. Once it gets applied to you, it will continue to do damage even if you use pool. [imgsmall=skills/brand/p.png] The burn from Brand's spells will hurt you even after you use pool. [imgsmall=skills/fiddlesticks/w.png] Once Fiddelsticks starts his drain, pooling will not prevent it's damage. He cannot start drain once you are pooled, however. [imgsmall=skills/fizz/w.png] The DOT from Fizz's basic attacks will deal damage even after you use pool. [imgsmall=skills/gangplank/p.png] The DOT from Gangplank's basic attacks will still hurt you even if you pool. [imgsmall=skills/karma/w.png] Karma's tether will stay on you even after you pool. That means you will be slowed and it will still hurt your teammates. [imgsmall=skills/leblanc/e.png] If Leblanc hits you with tether, you will get snared on the second proc even if you pool. [imgsmall=skills/lulu/e.png] Lulu's pixie will continue to follow you after you pool. [imgsmall=skills/malzahar/e.png] There is no cure for Malzahar's space aids. Not even dissolving to a pool of blood. [imgsmall=skills/maokai/w.png] If Maokai starts the flight towards you, it will snare you on hit even if you pool. [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] If Yi's Q has already RNG'd you, pooling will not dodge it. However, if you pool before his little \"Shadow thing\" hits you, you can dodge it. [imgsmall=skills/morgana/r.png] Soul shackles will still deal damage and stun you if you are in range while pooled. If you are pooled before Morgana uses it, she won't be able to use it until you come out of pool. [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/r.png] The DOT from Mordekaiser's ultimate will still hurt after you pool, and you will still become a ghost if you die while it's on you. [imgsmall=skills/nocturne/e.png] If Nocturne's tether is attached to you, you will be feared even if you are in pool. [imgsmall=skills/poppy/e.png] If Poppy uses this on you, you will still be knocked back from the charge and will be stunned if you hit a wall. [imgsmall=skills/pantheon/w.png] If Pantheon uses it on you, pooling will not dodge the stun of the damage. [imgsmall=skills/swain/q.png] You will still be damage and slowed by Swain's bird while pooled. [imgsmall=skills/swain/e.png] The damage from Swain's DOT will still damage you while pooled. [imgsmall=skills/tristana/e.png] Tristana's DOT will still damage you while pooled. [imgsmall=skills/veigar/e.png] Veigar's stun circle will still stun you if you touch it while pooled. [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] Vladimir's ultimate will damage you if you are in pool. [title]TL;DR[/title] DOTs, Tethers, Poppy's charge, Yi's Q, Veigar's E Pantheon's stun and Maokai's snare.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/9AZ414h.png?1] [title]Quintessences[/title] Quintessences of Ability Power:15 AP -These are my go-to quints. AP is just good on vlad. They are very strong early, and are useful all game. Just good all around quints. Vlads AP scaling doesn't seem that great, but considering his cooldowns, they are really good. Here are the numbers. Total AP: 15 Bonus Damage on Q: 9 Bonus Damage on E: 6.75 Bonus Damage on W: 0 Bonus Damage on R: 10.5 Doesn't seem like much, but it makes the difference more often than other quints in my opinion. Quintessences of Movement Speed: 4.5% Movement Speed -Vladimir is a short ranged mage, so movement speed is a good stat on him. They are especially good if you are new to [imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] or if positioning isn't your strong suite. Here is the speed you gain. Without Movespeed Quints: -Without boots: 335 -With T1 boots: 360 -With T2 boots: 380 With Movespeed Quints: -Without boots: 350 (+15) -With T1 boots: 376 (+16) -With T2 boots: 397 (+17) I didn't do it for Boots of Mobility, Boots of swiftness, or [imgsmall=items/enchantment-alacrity.png] because we don't get these. [title]Marks:[/title] Marks of Magic Penetration: 7.8 Magic Penetration -Not much to say, these are just the best marks on pretty much any AP champion. No other marks are really worth it. Marks of Flat Armor: 11.7 armor -The only other viable marks. They are secondary, but you CAN run these is if you are against an AD opponent who you are terrified of. [title]Seals:[/title] Seals of Flat Armor: 13 armor -Very good Seals, but only if you are against an AD mid laner, or are laning top. If you are, take these seals. Seals of Health: Health seals are the best for Vlad in mid lane. You are resource-less, so mana regen is useless, and magic resist seals are terrible. That makes health the best option for seals against an AP opponent. The only question is whether you want flat, or scaling health seals. Seals of Flat Health: 48 HP -Very strong on Vlad in mid lane, however I think HP per level seals are just better. Seals of Scaling Health: 9.72 at level 1. 175 at level 18 -I like these better because they surpass flat health at level 5. It is extremely unlikely that the small amount of extra health will make the difference at levels 1-4. [title]Glyphs[/title] Glyphs of Scaling Ability Power: 1.5 AP at level 1. 27.5 at level 18 These are my go to glyphs for Vladimir. -AP is just really good on Vladimir. If you don't need your glyphs to survive lane, then you should run these. Glyphs of Magic Resist: Use these if you are afraid of your enemy laner if they are AP (i.e. [imgsmall=champ/annie.png][imgsmall=champ/brand.png][imgsmall=champ/kassadin.png][imgsmall=champ/leblanc.png][imgsmall=champ/orianna.png][imgsmall=champ/veigar.png]) If you are scared of any enemy AP laning opponent, the only question is whether you want scaling or flat magic resist. Glyphs of Flat Magic Resist: 12 Magic Resist -These are the best if you are scared of the enemy mid lane. The magic resist will help you greatly in lane, and the scaling ones don't surpass the flat ones until level 9. By then, if you need extra MR, you can always just buy a null magic mantle. Glyphs of Scaling Magic Resist: 1.35 at level 1. 24 Magic Resist at level 18. -(See above seals of flat magic resist))

If it is an AD mid you aren't afraid of, just run the first page with armor instead of MR. However, most AD mids are REALLY aggressive.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/ettnzzs.png?1] [title]Offense Tree[/title] As an AP carry, dealing damage if your main priority. Summoners Wrath: Cost: 1 point [imgsmall=summoners/exhaust.png]: Reduces enemy MR and armor by 10 [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png]: You gain five AD and AP when ignite is on Cooldown [imgsmall=summoners/ghost.png]: You gain 35% movespeed bonus when ghost is active instead of 27% Only take this if you are using ghost or ignite. If you are, it is a great point to use. Sorcery: 4% CDR -Cost: 4 Points CDR is very strong on Vladimir and you need this to build up into offense as well. Butcher: 2 bonus damage to minions on basic attack -Cost: 1 point Vlad has horrible base AD and a pretty bad autoattack animation as well. I take only one point in butcher because of spellsword. Otherwise I have a lot of trouble last hitting. By no means a \"necessary\" point. Blast: 1 AP per level -Cost: 4 points AP is good and you need to build higher! Destruction: 5% bonus Damage to turrets -Cost: 1 point Not good for a champ like Vladimir. You won't spend much time doing damage to turrets. Don't take this point Arcane Knowledge: 8% Magic Pen -Cost: 1 point Incredible for a single point. You do pretty much only magic damage, and 8% flat pen will help you deal a lot more damage once enemies start getting a decent amount of MR. Havoc:2% Extra damage on everything -Cost: 3 point This mastery point is extremely misleading. 2% damage sounds like a lot, but it is really almost nothing. You are in a late game teamfight, you E-Q-W a target and total 1000 damage dealt; havoc added 20 damage to that. That single point in arcane knowledge would add more than double that in most cases. The only time to take this mastery is when you need a point to get a higher level, and there is nothing else to take. Mental Force: 6 AP -Cost: 3 points AP is always good, and this helps your early trading a bit. These points can be very helpful, but will only ever make a difference in early lane phase. Spell Sword: 5% of AP dealt on basic attack -Cost: 1 point Archmage: 5% more AP -Cost: 4 points More AP is always lovely! Great for four points, especially since we build so much AP. Executioner: 5% more damage on targets below half HP. The crown point for offense. Great stats for a single mastery point. So we must take it! [title]Defense Tree[/title] Defense also works well on Vlad. Especially if you are laning top or against an AD mid lane. Summoner's Resolve: Cost: 1 Point: [imgsmall=summoners/cleanse.png]Tenacity from cleanse last one second longer. [imgsmall=summoners/heal.png]: Heal increases by an extra 5 per level. [imgsmall=summoners/smite.png]: You gain 10 gold on use. [imgsmall=summoners/barrier.png]: Increases Shield by 20. Use this point if you are running any of these summoners. Perseverance: Up to 6 HP/5 based on missing health -Cost: 3 points HP regen will help you out in lane more than you realize. It even scales off of your E stacks. Durability: 6 HP per level (108 at level 18) -Cost: 4 points Health is always useful. Especially since you will be a prime target to focus. (NOT TO MENTION, YOU GET LIKE 2 AP OFF THE HEALTH!!!!!!!!) Hardiness: 5 Armor -Cost: 3 points Grab this if you are against an AD opponent. Resistance: 5 Magic Resist -Cost: 3 points Grab this if you are against an AP opponent. Veteran's Scars: 30 HP -Cost: 1 point 30 HP just for that time when you live with less than 30 HP. It isn't often, but it only costs one point. Definitely worth that point. Unyielding: Reduces damage from champions by 2 -Cost: 2 A strong point for laning phase, but I would rather invest into late game defense. This point is mostly good for damage trades, which is something that Vlad is already unmatched in. If you are top lane, this point would be worth taking, though. Block: Take 3 less damage from champion basic attacks -Cost: 1 point Take this if you are top lane and took unyielding. Relentless: Reduces slow effectiveness by 15% -Cost: 2% I just think this is a bad mastery in general. It reduces a 25% slow to a 21% slow. That just seems useless imo. Veteran's Scar: 30 Health -Cost 1 point Having 30 extra health for once point will save your life more often than almost any other single point. Safeguard: 5% Reduced damage from turrets -Cost: 1 point You won't be tanking turrets very often. Not to mention, with your W and Zhonya's you can lose tower aggro if you need to, so don't take this. Tenacious: 15% shorter CC duration -Cost: 3 points Tenacity is one of the most valuable stats in the game. It can make all the difference. We also don't have any of if it because CDR is hard to obtain on a mana-less AP champ, so getting merc treads is not optimal. Juggernaut: Max Health increased by 4% -Cost: 4 points Works very well on Vladimir. You get quite a bit of extra health because of his passive. You'll also get a small amount of extra AP from this too. I would advocate that you don't go any further into the defense tree. I would never put more than 18 points into it no matter what. [title]Utility Tree[/title] If you think it is worth it, you can trade 9 in defense for 9 in utility. I don't think it is worth it unless you are using [imgsmall=summoners/revive.png]/[imgsmall=summoners/teleport.png] You can also go 21 points into utility, but I don't like it. If you look at it, the points make sense, but you just can't afford to give up that much damage. Summoners Insight: -Cost: 1 point [imgsmall=summoners/revive.png]: Grants bonus health for 2 minutes after use. [imgsmall=summoners/teleport.png]: Reduces cast time by .5 seconds. [imgsmall=summoners/flash.png]: Lowers Cooldown by 15 seconds. [imgsmall=summoners/clairvoyance.png]: Gives lingering vision of champions that were revealed. [imgsmall=summoners/clarity.png]: Increases mana restored by 25% Use this if you are using any of these summoner spells. Wanderer: 2% bonus movespeed when out of combat -Cost: 3 points The only points you can take in utility. It helps a little, but not all that much. Meditation: ALL THE MANA! -Cost 3 points YEAAAAAAAH MORE MANA! W00T (Yeah, no) Improved Recall: 1 Second shorter on recall -Cost: 1 point Take this if you didn't take summoners insight. It will either save your life, or be totally worthless. Nothing in between. Scout: Wards get 25% bonus range for five seconds after being placed -Cost: 1 point Best. Point. Ever. (Don't take this. They should GIVE you a point for taking this) Mastermind: 10% Cooldown reduction on summoner spells -Cost: 3 points Best points at this point of the utility tree. Shorter Cooldown on your summoner spells can help a lot. Artificer: 15% shorter cooldown on active items -Cost: 2 points Can help with your zhonya's, but it will almost always be up when you need it anyhow.

[imgext=http://i.imgur.com/cxWrA5p.png?1] [title]PATCH 3.01 (2/1/13)[/title] The season three patch is here! Zhonya's Hourglass: -Recipe changed: Seeker's Armguard + Needlessly Large Rod + 650 gold = 3410 gold (from 3100) -Ability Power increased to 120 from 100 My thoughts: A buff to Zhonya's? Yipee! This will also make Vladimir stronger against AD opponents because of the new Seeker's Armguard! Now you can start cloth armor and build it into something later! Math: The new Zhonya's gives slightly more stats for it's price. -Seeker's Armguard gives about 1050 gold worth in stats for 1160 on purchase. It gives 1660 gold worth of stats when full stacked. Warmog's Armor -Recipe changed: Giant's Belt + Ruby Crystal + Rejuvenation Bead + Rejuvenation Bead = 2830 gold (from 2650) My thoughts: This item is almost exactly the same for Vladimir. It costs a little more, but it doesn't make a significant difference, since we don't rush it. Fiendish Codex -Faerie Charm removed from recipe -Total cost is now 820 gold from 1000 -No longer grants any mana regen My thoughts: Getting some AP and CDR without having to spend any money on mana regen might make this item good for Vladimir. I may wind up using this like a Doran's item. This will be added to the item section once I playtest it. Deathfire Grasp -Recipe changed: Fiendish Codex + Needlessly Large Rod + 880 gold = 3300 gold (from 3000) -Ability power increased to 120 from 100 My thoughtss: A small buff to this item, but it is still only a decent item for Vladimir. It still isn't cost effective, and you still can't make good use of the active. Doran's Shield -Health regen per 5 seconds increased to 8 from 5 My thoughts: Now a slightly stronger pick up against bruisers! You still buy it in the exact same circumstances, however. Master Yi -Meditate: Total heal amount increased to 200/350/500/650/800 from 140/280/420/560/700 Total ability power ratio reduced to 2.0 from 4.0 Mana cost reduced to 50/65/80/95/110 from 70/80/90/100/110 My thoughts: This change is irrelevant to the matchup. Meditate will still allow him to outsustain your damage in lane. [title]Patch 3.02 (2/14/13)[/title] Spirit Visage -Cooldown Reduction increased to 20% My Thoughts: This change makes the item slightly better, especially for Vladimir. However, I still don't think I will buy it any more often. Deathfire Grasp -Cost reduced to 680 from 880 -Cooldown reduction reduced to 10% from 15% My thoughts: Makes the item slightly worse for you than it was before, but nothing worth consideration. The item is still \"Decent\" and extremely situational. Negatron Cloak -Cost reduced to 720 from 810 -MR reduced to 40 from 45 My thoughts: If you need MR in lane, it's now slightly easier to get. This change is, overall, a buff to negatron, so it probably hurts you slightly. Quick Silver Sash -Cost reduced to 1550 from 1660 My thoughts: A buff to a great defensive item for Vladimir. The change helps, but you still will buy it in the same situations as before. Liandry's Torment -Ability power reduced to 50 from 60. -Damage per second increased to 2% from 1.66%. -Damage-over-time and multi-target spells no longer have reduced effect. -Fixed damage effect not being properly reapplied on targets that already have it. My thoughts: The removal of AOE spells being less effective makes this item a better choice for Vladimir before. I'll have to test it in game, but I still don't think that I'll like it. Rabadon's Deathcap -Combine cost increased to 840 gold from 740 (total cost increased to 3300 gold from 3200) -Ability power bonus increased to 30% from 25% My thoughts: A buff to all AP champions! Jump for joy! Doesn't change your build much, but you will be a little bit stronger late game.
