Hi I'm Salce, the AP carry for TSM.EVO. Apparently, I'm somewhat well-known for my S1 Vladimir. I managed to get a 97.8% win rate with 46 games played. These games consisted of solo q and duo q--mostly with Dan Dinh where we ran champs with tons of damage. [imgsmall=champ/twitch.png]+[imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png]=OP. I was top 100 S1, played on Epik Gamer (now known as TSM.EVO), and I am currently 2500~ elo. A lot of this is Vlad in a nut shell--know when you shouldn't [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png], TIDES STACK, and how to build properly, et cetera. I figured that I would write up a an AP Mid point of view. There are some other great guides out there, especially for Solo Top Vlad. However, I am going to focus on AP Mid Vlad. PROOF [imgext=http://gyazo.com/042283508ef67ec530d8502b97c9b09f.png]

If you want to play Vlad to his full potential, then you will have to have at least 3 rune pages to compensate for your lane match ups. This is my go to rune page for about 90% of all mid lanes even AP's. (Using pool properly against most AP's and you can use offensive blues) [imgext=http://gyazo.com/81fd0d7c4e7e376cafe4109c0fdc48f7.png] If played right with pool you should not die to most AP's other than incredibly high burst champs such as [imgsmall=champ/annie.png] or [imgsmall=champ/leblanc.png]. [imgext=http://gyazo.com/88a2c804fff9353e8a96439da159e530.png] For the AD mids [imgsmall=champ/pantheon.png][imgsmall=champ/talon.png] [imgext=http://gyazo.com/efcfb1307808aff515b8fcc7249f7175.png] [center][highlight]Side Note[/highlight][/center] Depending on how confident you are on using pool properly, then you can keep the +15 AP quints. If you are not as confident and are still practicing, then you can switch them out for Flat HP, MR, or even armor. It just depends on what you feel you need.

[title][img=skills/vladimir/p.png] Passive: Crimson Pact[/title] [number]Every 40 points of bonus health gives Vladimir 1 ability power and every 1 point of ability power gives Vladimir 2 bonus health (does not stack with itself).[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Makes ap / hp per level runes to be most effective as the game progresses a solo laner. Great passive regardless of the nerfs. [title][img=skills/vladimir/q.png] Q: Transfusion[/title] [number]Vladimir drains the lifeforce of his target, dealing 90/125/160/195/230 (+60% of ability power) magic damage and healing himself for 15/25/35/45/55 (+100% of ability power) of that amount. Cooldown 12/10/8/6/4 seconds Range 550 [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is your last hit, harass, and single target spell. Lane phase you last hit with it when enemy mid is not in range and you need to sustain. If they are in range then [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] them whenever they are in range. [title][img=skills/vladimir/w.png] W: Sanguine Pool[/title] [number]Vladimir sinks into a pool of blood for 2.5 seconds, becoming untargetable and slowing enemies above him by 40%. Vladmir deals 15% of his bonus Health in magic damage over the duration and heals himself for 12.5% of that amount. Cooldown 22seconds Cost 20percent of health Range 1050[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Pool is mostly used early game as a slow for ganks, to dodge skill shots / ultimates, and to of course dodge the ganks. Later as the game progresses then it is used for the exact reasons but mostly to avoid the damage. [title][img=skills/vladimir/e.png] E: Tides of Blood[/title] [number]Vladimir unleashes a torrent of blood dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+45% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies. Each cast gives him an Empowered stack (max 4), increasing his healing and regeneration by 8% each. Additionally, his next Tides of Blood deals 25% more damage and costs 50% more Health per stack. Cooldown 8seconds Cost 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70health Range 300[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] As the game progresses this is your main source of AoE damage that Vlad can dish out every 3-4 seconds. It is incredibly important that before you enter a team fight that this spell is [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png]x4 and that it will not drop before you used it again. I can not stress that enough. Proper stacking is the difference between a good Vlad and a terrible. As the game progresses make sure that you have things to [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] to maintain the stacks and sit at a comfortable amount of HP [title][img=skills/vladimir/r.png] R: Hemoplague[/title] [number]Vladimir infects the target area with a virulent plague. Affected enemies take 10 / 14 / 18% increased damage for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, infected enemies take 200 / 300 / 400 (+75% of ability power) magic damage. Cooldown 120seconds Cost 15percent of health Range 700[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is the spell that you want to hit as many people as possible with in team fights. Usually flashing to use it is most effective and then follow up with a [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png]. Early on, at around 6-7, it is also great for catching the lane you are in off guard. Through all the damage of the earlier poke and [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png][imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png][imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] there are not a lot of the squishier AP mids that can live through it.

PRIORITIZE [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] self-explanatory vlad is not one of those champs you get one rank of ult in. Max this asap. IT IS A GOOD ULT there is literally nothing else to say about this max 6,11,16. Hit as many people with it, tides / tranfusion / ignite the [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] target and it deals TONS OF DAMAGE. GGWP YOU WIN GAME. MAX [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] It is your main spell to sustain and as you get it to rank 5 it has a short cooldown. This is the spell you poke with in lane and is your damage in lane. Maxing Tranfusion is a must for sustain / poke in lane. MAX 2ND [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] Late game this will be where most of your damage is, but you still should focus on this 2nd. In mid hitting tides is hard because of the short range and it is mostly just used for last hitting or wave clearing early with 4 stacks. It hurts you a decent amount due to the most recent Vlad nerfs. Vlad cannot AOE early because he is too squishy. Also, with the runes/masteries I run you get tankier as the game progresses. MAX LAST [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] I get one rank in this early and only max it when there is nothing else to max. Mid lane is very small and if I have to use it to dodge a gank then I will play a bit more passively then I was until it is back up. You can dodge ults, ganks, and pool to safety with just one rank of it.

Itemization on Vlad really depends on enemy team comp. For example, I like to go [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] but if they have hard stuns / silences like Soraka / Kass then [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] are the way to go. [imgsmall=items/sorcerers-shoes.png] [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] I find myself never needing [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png] because most ad's are squishy so they cannot sit there and deal damage to you because [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] hits too hard. Heavy ap on enemy team [imgsmall=items/abyssal-scepter.png] [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] OR [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] Along with runes / masteries you should have a decent amount of MR now and you shouldn't be burst down before your combo and a [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] or two. Heavy AD [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] [imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] **occasional** [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png]Usually an [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] is all you need, but sometimes it is not enough. The next armor item I like to get is [imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] for the cdr , hp regen, and on hit chance to slow. Standard End game ~ only variation is usually boots + REASONING [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png] By end game cc / stuns are what ruins dps, [imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] with Arcane Knowledge is all the magic pen you need. [imgsmall=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] As AP mid and it being end-game you should have this item by now. [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] By the time you reach endgame they should have an AD carry with some core items and he will be hitting hard. So, Zhonya's is the perfect item. AP~HP[imgsmall=skills/vladimir/p.png] and the use is amazing. You can dodge ultimates with it and use it to just dodge AD's.. Right when the effect wears off you should have a [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] or a [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] up by then. [imgsmall=items/void-staff.png] Again as an AP carry, and it being end game, this item is a must. Keep in mind if your team is running double AP the enemy team will stack a lot of MR early. Consider rushing this if that is the case. [imgsmall=items/will-of-the-ancients.png] I tend to finish this really late-- usually after dcap and void. If my top lane is doing poorly then I won't get WoTA early. The cost nerf hurt a lot and it is not always that effective to get early, but as it hits end game you should purchase this. [imgsmall=items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] Going to go ahead and pick this as the final go to item just because it gives both AP and HP. So [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/p.png] is used to its fullest potential with this item. The slow is also very usueful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the alternative 6th slot items I will just summarize them real quick as to why I even listed... Not going to add as much detail as the items above. [imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] CDR is GOOD on vlad. ARMOR to compensate for lots of AD randuins + zhonya = lots of armor. HP = [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/p.png] & of course the chance on being hit. [imgsmall=items/guardian-angel.png] Second life, [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png][imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] off cooldown... MAYBE [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] as well. Also can not forget the MR / ARMOR ~ great alternative not much more to be said. [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] Really good and situational I like to use this as an example.. [imgsmall=champ/cassiopeia.png] > [imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] IN LANE Team fights [imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] >[imgsmall=champ/cassiopeia.png] the only thing that will change this is if cassio properly ults you. Sometimes it happens from fog of war or what not, so a quicksilver sash will make things ok for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Also keep in mind that I say to rush Dcap but sometimes you may need a [imgsmall=items/chain-vest.png] or a [imgsmall=items/negatron-cloak.png] and your [imgsmall=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] will be delayed. Sometimes those bit of resistances are necessary before [imgsmall=items/rabadons-deathcap.png] just be smart, practice, and sometimes you will learn when a [imgsmall=items/chain-vest.png] which will be built into [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] later is needed. Or when a [imgsmall=items/negatron-cloak.png] is needed to not be burst which can always be built into a [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] or [imgsmall=items/abyssal-scepter.png] *which abyssal is not bad but not super recommended. I get it on occassion when double AP and other AP isn't getting it. It does make sense to get because vlad's tides is so short ranged but I feel like there is better in most cases. Getting it real late and it is not that great, by then you should be having a void and soon considering a boots switch.

DO NOT LANE AGAINST [img=champ/cassiopeia.png] Outpokes and will crush you with blue. BG YOU LOSE. I will not lane against this my elo / scrims / comp. It is too risky. [img=champ/ryze.png] Ryze with blue buff will crush you. TOO MUCH DMG OH GOD... [img=champ/orianna.png] A good Ori will poop all over you. [img=champ/swain.png] More doable than the lanes listed above, but he can still out sustain/dmg you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lanes I am not a fan of but totally doable for experienced Vlads with good runes / masteries. Also, some of these lanes are very very very doable but I will add them on here because they have small things that you have to be aware of or else they will snowball your lane. Even some of these lanes listed are farm lanes and Vlad is better with farm so it is not a problem, but they do have the potential to outpoke you if you stand in the wrong spots. [img=champ/annie.png] Pool before being stunned & combo'd. You will be OK. [img=champ/brand.png] Not bad. If you get hit by skill shots and do not pool away from his ult, he will give you a very hard time. Play it smart. Do not be in line for fireballs and dodge pillars. [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] If you pool his life drain it will still go through it. Usually this is not a problem cause you should be transfusioning and running out of fear range. Be careful of fear combo with enemy jungler. Also, watch the side brush and fog areas around mid for a crowstorm. Really not too bad of a lane as most think but it could potentially be devastating. Also those bouncing crows could be a bit of a problem. [highlight]Silence REAL good vs. Vlad.[/highlight] [img=champ/fizz.png] Fizz top is different than Fizz mid. Fizz mid does not have enough room to bully you. The distance between where you can farm safely and your own tower is too small. Do not let him poke you down too much early or expect a shark at 6 and ignite combo. Also, if you pool/shark and move over it, it will stick to you. Mid Vlad > mid Fizz but a top Fizz is a different story. [img=champ/galio.png] Boring & farm fest & annoying. Be careful of flash ults. Also, dodge early resolute smites and you should be fine. Use your Mercs, bro. [img=champ/katarina.png] Pool the ult ASAP. If she uses w and blades you or w and shunpos, you are either doing less damage / healing less. So pool it RIGHT away. Then, use the time that she has cooldowns up to sustain with your Q. Only really annoying when hit by the healing debuff. [img=champ/kassadin.png] *not that bad but could potentially be when fed* Merc treads are your friend [img=champ/leblanc.png] Pool the mimic'd ult and know the damage she can dish. [img=champ/malzahar.png] Vlad's old huge counter, since he was buffed a bit he could give Vlad an incredibly hard time. In the past I dealt with him by getting a very early [imgsmall=items/quicksilver-sash.png] and it could be the same answer. For early game I used to get it before hextech, but times have changed so idk anymore. Still a pain to lane against. [img=champ/mordekaiser.png] Hard to do damage to, trade farm with him equally and you will have a bigger impact in team fights unless he gets a fed ghost. [img=champ/pantheon.png] Runes / Masteries to compensate still not very fun to lane against if they build a brutalizier into a last whisper and gank your lanes all day. [img=champ/riven.png] Yes riven mid can be the answer to a vlad mid. Just buy two [imgsmall=items/dorans-shield.png] and you will not get burst down. [img=champ/soraka.png] That silence--you gotta be extra careful that. You do not want to get silenced when you are trying to pool. Also, starcall can win trades early, but later it isn't too bad. [img=champ/ziggs.png] A good Ziggs, believe it or not, can CRUSH a Vlad. DO NOT stand by ranged creeps or you will get hit by a bomb~ [img=champ/zilean.png] Bombs will explode when you get out of pool. Double bomb and ignite does a suprisingly large amount of damage. His ult will be up more than yours. Sometimes it is incredibly difficult to kill Zilean twice when your spells are on CD. [img=champ/xerath.png] Dat range. Pool the stuns and dodge the 3 ults. [img=champ/heimerdinger.png] The kite / range on Heimer can give Vlad a problem. Trade farm and wait til you can 3 shot him and his team. No fear of being ganked really, but he he will probably be able to set up for dragons better and be hard to catch. Also, keep in mind that if he gets blues you most likely will not win game [highlight]early[/highlight]. [img=champ/akali.png]Careful for 6 burst and the potential of her 3 stacks saved up. This is one of those champs that a pool will not save you from. She can kill you under tower and gap close out. Most cases really not bad, buy pink wards and poke early even pass tower pre 6. You can abuse akali's very hard early. [img=champ/talon.png]Has the potential to burst you down but you should be fine if you have a bit of armor. Just be aware that he isn't a pushover. Do not get raked. It is easy to avoid unless he teleports onto you. [img=champ/veigar.png] Do not AP stack super hard if you do not have a decent amount of MR. Also, if you pool past the event horizon you will be stunned. Another one of those that you have to be careful of the jungle gank combo because it is a guarantee stun even on pool. [img=champ/viktor.png] Dodge the lasers, sustain the damage / self shield he has. Sometimes hard to poke cause of this spell but yours is instant his has to travel. Not a huge threat Vlad can pressure him harder. When he has blue buff he can be a bit of a hassle. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lanes Vlad will CRUSH and SHOULD, but if played wrong or poorly you will lose lane. [img=champ/ahri.png] Pool the charm, do not play too aggressively again. If pushed to tower she can catch you with ult. [img=champ/gragas.png] Pool his ultimate [img=champ/karthus.png] Do not be too aggressively again and get walled to be ganked, vlad > karth in lane just play it cautiously and smart. [img=champ/morgana.png] Dodge the bind, do not let her flash ult on you successfully and then bind or you will die. [img=champ/sion.png] Pool stun then super easy lane, he shouldnt be able to farm creeps safely cause you will break his shield. [img=champ/twistedfate.png] Pool the gold cards, then he will be rather easy to kill and you can constantly push to tower. Just warn your team of potential ganks and make sure you have enough time to pool to safety and expect him to possibly flash gold card you if they use everything (ignite / exhaust from jungle)

[img=champ/alistar.png] His combo is very scary. Just have fast reactions and pool asap before the pulverize. [img=champ/amumu.png] Pool the bandages. [img=champ/chogath.png] Pool the knock up and do no get combo'd. [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] The fear and drain, also crowstorms from the side brushes of mid. Wards are very important. [img=champ/jarvaniv.png] Pool the combo. It hits very hard early and if you take too much dmg you will be forced to buy early. [img=champ/kayle.png] Pool her slow. Her autos and slow hurt do not underestimate them. [img=champ/malphite.png] Pool the ultimate. [img=champ/leesin.png] Early Lee ganks are terrifying, especially when followed by [imgsmall=summoners/exhaust.png]. Do not let him get too close you are too far from tower. [img=champ/pantheon.png] Pool Panth stuns. Very very scary early. [img=champ/rammus.png] Pool before taunt. [img=champ/maokai.png] Twisted Advance will even root you when you pool. So, be careful and be aware. [img=champ/nocturne.png] His fear will still be chained even when you pool. Be very careful and sometimes you may have to [imgsmall=summoners/flash.png]. [img=champ/skarner.png] [img=champ/warwick.png] The flash ultimates are very scary, the answer is to ward both sides of river and know where they are. These are just some junglers and the things you should be aware of if they combo it with mid. There are more but those are more obvious ex. (trundle pillar, Voli throw back, singed, & udyr stun(POOL BEFORE IT GOES OFF)

1-5 it is very hard to trade with Vlad and you have to be smart to trade. Do not trade when they have their spells up or have the potential to outpoke you. Use it when they go to cs and get out right away. Also, use pool to get away from anything early. At 6+ is when Vlad can start being a problem. Start harassing and being a bully. Another thing to be wary of is that it is sometimes hard to follow the opposing mid with Vlad in unwarded areas. A [imgsmall=champ/morgana.png] or [imgsmall=champ/cassiopeia.png] could get their combo off on you. Pool probably wouldn't save you in that case.

Mid / Late game is revolved around team fighting. You want to [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] as many as you can which, at times, will require [imgsmall=summoners/flash.png]. Get a [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] off. Drop [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] / [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] [highlight]if you have time[/highlight]. Sometimes you do not have time and must pool right away to dodge any retalliation. Then, when you are out, [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] and [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png]. Also, do not forget to use [imgsmall=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png]. It is very important to get the timing right. At this point of the game you should be taking the blue buffs. CDR is very important on Vlad and pretty terror. [img=items/elixir-of-brilliance.png] > [img=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png] This is because CDR is really good along with the AP. Both of them are even better though. I find myself blue potting when I have blue buff and just buying when a very, very important team fight is coming.

This will be all that I will add now. I added a lot more text compared to my [imgsmall=champ/orianna.png] guide upon request. In the future I will add more like Zyra match up and a video of my [imgsmall=champ/vladimir.png] play. Sorry for the wall of text, but this is what was requested! It's a lot more in depth than my previous guide, so enjoy!
