Hi, I am Hardrock703 (IGN TSM TheGheyOne) and I play some Master Yi and thought I would share some of my knowledge of the character. Enjoy the guide and carry your team to victory!

[title]Pros[/title] [.] He can do tons of damage [.] He has an extremely strong late game [.] His [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/r.png], which continues after a kill/assist and reduces cooldowns, is good for taking control of teamfights. The difficulty of each lane is given a rating from among these: Easy, Medium, Hard, Difficult. [img=champ/jax.png] Difficulty: Medium Summary: In order to counter Jax, you have to play smart and make sure you don't attack when his Counter Strike is up. CC is Yi's worst enemy, and if he stuns you near the enemy team, you are practically done. During a fight, wait until he wastes his Counter Strike on another teammate, or when he does use it, keep your distance to avoid the stun. Then you can engage when it is down. [img=champ/teemo.png] Difficulty: Hard Summary: Teemo's poison harass makes him an annoying early game lane opponent, and his blinding and shrooms in mid/late game make him an annoying opponent overall. If one of your supports has a [imgsmall=items/oracles-elixir.png], you can roam with them to avoid shrooms. Because of Teemo's blinds, when you engage him, he can easily burst you down/escape since no attacks = no lifesteal and no damage, meaning you can't sustain yourself or kill him. One of the best ways to counter him is to engage him as a team so he can only pick one person to blind, and hoping that someone has Oracle's on your team, you can avoid his shrooms and kill him. [img=champ/pantheon.png] Difficulty: Medium Summary: The only bad part about Pantheon is his stun and his block. He is also tough because of his high damage + Yi's squishiness until he gets defensive items. Just play safe early on and rely on jungle ganks to kill him in early game. After all, he can only stun one person! [img=champ/riven.png] Difficulty: Hard Summary: Riven's stun + shield + damage = a dead Yi. Avoid her abilities and keep your distance until he has wasted her abilities or is caught out of position. In late game, you should be able to kill a Riven before she can dash away and shield herself if you catch her by surprise. [img=champ/darius.png] Difficulty: Medium Summary: Build tanky starting early and keep your [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] handy since you can dodge his dunk and grab very easily. Keep some distance until he misses his grab and/or uses his Decimate for farming before thinking about harassing or engaging. The reason being for harassing, he can go to the minion you started your [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] on and use a Decimate or Apprehend on it in a timely fashion. But building tanky at first and keeping your distance is key for early game survival. In late game, he is just another victim for AD Yi. [img=champ/renekton.png] Difficulty: Medium Summary: This is a winnable lane for Yi. Just play safe and harass when his abilities are on cooldown. In a standard fight, you can easily outdamage him. Use your [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] wisely, as a well-timed usage could mean dodging an ability and saving your own life, while taking his. [img=champ/fiora.png] Difficulty: Easy Summary: Yi's ultimate weakness is CC. Fiora has no CC. In this lane, it depends on how well you use your abilities. When she ults, you [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] + [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/w.png] to mitigate the damage taken. You can also use [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/w.png] to lessen her damage when she jumps on you, have her waste her abilities, and then engage on her with [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png]. It shouldn't be a problem winning this lane. [img=champ/gangplank.png] Difficulty: Easy Summary: You will have to push more and focus on last hitting more due to his Q passive, but that shouldn't be that hard of a challenge. Build a little tanky in the beginning ([imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png] + [imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png] for starting) and you should be well off. Deny him first blood and prevent him from pushing and the lane is an easy win. [img=champ/zed.png] Difficulty: Medium Summary: Dodge abilities and use your own wisely. When he ults, I recommend [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/w.png] to reduce damage. There's not much else to say, this lane depends on the skill level of the players. This lane can go either way. [img=champ/yorick.png] Difficulty: Medium Summary: This lane can also go either way. Both Yi and Yorick have sustain to keep them alive, and Yi's [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] can easily take care of Yorick's ghouls. But all in all, the lane goes with however skilled the individual players are.

AD Yi's early game is somewhat strong. His Q + E + Double Strike combo does a surprising amount of early game damage, so you can bully your opponent out of lane. Poking is done by using your [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] on a minion close to you when the enemy walks near. You will damage them as well as return to the minion you attacked, leaving you at a safe distance from your opponent. Ask for jungler ganks, it will be one of the only ways for you to get early kills due to your lack of CC.

PUSH, PUSH, PUSH! Most other champs have a much stronger Mid Game than Yi, so you won't be able to 1v1 or assassinate much of their team unless you were extremely fed early on. Master Yi's ult makes him a strong backdoorer; you can just keep pushing and ult away when the enemy team comes. Since your build tends to be extremely expensive (IE, BotRK, BT, and Tri-Force are the most expensive items in the game) you will need farm. A lot of it. This is why taking Teleport on Yi is not a bad idea. You can push a lane, TP across the map, push that lane, B, buy items, go back to a lane, etc. Your whole goal this point in the game is to farm. TP is also good because you can teleport into a teamfight and be useful.

Late game is Yi's strongest point. By now, you should be highly farmed and have most of your core items (IE, BotRK, Statikk, BT/Ravenous) and can be a strong assassin. You should be able to one-shot most carries and shred any tanks. It is recommended you keep pushing until your team needs you in a fight. Since Yi cannot provide much to his team in terms of fights, the best he can do is provide global gold by taking turrets, dragons, etc. Make it your goal to split push as much as possible and be a nuisance to the enemy team. Apply lots of map pressure.

Early game: If you are caught in a team fight in early game, sadly, you won't be as much help to your team. Since Yi is a melee champ, you will have to get in close to attack, and as a result you will be focused. I typically stay in the back and use [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] to deal damage from a safe distance and engage when someone CCs and one or two of my teammates engage and allow me to use them as a distraction. Basically, you want to play safe during early game team fights. Mid game: During team fights in mid game, you won't have to be as cautious and can take some risks. However, due to your squishiness, I still recommend that you do damage from a distance and then engage to clean up. You will still want to play safe, but you can still engage a bit earlier. Late game: Since Yi's lifesteal + burst is very high, I typically can stay nearby the enemy team and take damage, since I lifesteal most of it back. Yi's [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] is very good for jumping across the whole team and quickly taking out the AD Carry in the back, removing most of the damage. You still want to wait for your team to engage first and put up some CC, but it is fine if you go in first, as long as you don't run in headfirst into their entire team. If you're going to go in first, go in strategically. You can also play as a janitor and clean up the fight. Yi's [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/r.png] makes him one of the best janitors in the whole game.

Blue buff is extremely helpful on Master Yi because of the mana usage on [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] and since cooldown reduction never hurts. Plus, cooldown reduction + [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png]'s cooldown passive + [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/r.png]'s cooldown passive = no cooldown on [imgsmall=skills/masteryi/q.png] at all and only some cooldown on the other skills. Blue buff is very good for cleaning up team fights or engaging in a situation where there are multiple enemies vs you. I actually only jungle and clear camps when I start to roam, which is around when I get my fourth item. As I make my way to a lane, I clear all the camps on my way for extra gold to get closer to finishing my build. However, make sure your jungler is okay with this, since the jungle is his property! Be a team player and don't take away his experience/gold. Remember, there's always split pushing!
