Hi my summoner name is TheEventualWinna and I'm a Master Tier Vayne main on EUW. I ended season 4 with 1155 ranked games as Vayne played with a 52% win ratio. At the end of season 4 I placed first on the Vayne toplist for EUW and fourth for the Global toplist. Currently in Season 5 I am Master Tier with Vayne only being my second most played champion When first learning Vayne don't become discouraged if you're performing badly. When I decided to main Vayne early last season my early matches were horrible and at one point I even had 8 wins to 40 losses. Vaynes main weakness is her laning phase and the only way to get better is to practice the hard matchups, be prepared to get zoned by Caitlyns when starting off. This guide will highlight multiple ways of playing including several rune setups and item paths. Depending on your preferred playstyle you may like one build more than the other's though it is important to note that as the meta changes so do champions you are likely to find on the enemy team and on your team. It is critical then to experiment with different items and build orders to find a build that work for you when you need it to.

- Nami is possibly the greatest support to pair with Vayne. She has everything you could possibly want and/or need. Her provides not only sustain to help you cope with poke, but also acts as poke in it's own right. allows for a ranged AOE stun. The potential strength of this spell is frankly insane. It can be chained with for a very lengthy disable. It can set up some great engages and cover you well on disengages. and was a match made in heaven, now you have twice the incentive to trade with three auto attacks and the slow makes it only that much easier. Nami's passive synergises amazingly well with , combining this with the slow on chasing down opponents has never been easier. A great combo specific to Vayne Nami is applying to Vayne, Vayne then 's forward as Nami casts onto Vayne. This results in Vayne with two move speed buffs rolling towards the enemy with a bonus damage plus slow on her next 3 auto's as she is healed bringing the heal into range to bounce to the enemy applying damage. The real strength of this botlane is it's hidden power. The damage comes from everywhere, a little from some on and . Even and , the CC spells come with some damage. Obviously and too. There is no one chunk of damage the enemies can try to dodge. No huge burst. What's more most of the damage is undodgeable anyway. All credit for this picture goes to Shilin - Sona is very similar to Nami in terms of the strengths she brings to lane. Her is not only a great sustain tool but helps with trading due to this shield component. Her is what really makes her shine with Vayne. Similarly to this augments Vayne's auto attack with an on hit magic damage buff. Not only that but Sona herself get's this buff and also fires out two high damage projectiles at the enemies. When I said that was strong with Vayne due to them having damage from everywhere. Well does all that but in one spell. - is almost perfect synergy with . After Braum applies the first proc of three more auto attacks are required to apply the stun, and when it comes to Vayne good things come in threes. Generally in the form of auto attacks. Apart from that the rest of his abilities provide a stellar amount of peel and utility which makes him a top tier support. - Two of the reasons Vayne is weaker than other marksman in lane is due to her short range and lack of high damage spells to use in trading. Unlike , and (who have , and respectively), Vayne's abilities are all ,with the exception of , designed to amplify her auto attacks. This can be disadvantageous in lane as you are often left with little time to get off enough auto attacks for your abilities strengths to shine through due to your low attack speed. Her low range is only an issue as it allows for the enemy laners to poke her for free. Janna's is not only great for mitigating poke but increases AD allowing for some incredibly good trades due to Vayne's auto attack based nature. This spell alone is enough to allow Vayne to go and trade 1v2 due to the immense power it gives to her. - Karma has almost all the utility a support could want crammed into her kit, with lots of damage added in as well. Her early game power really covers Vaynes' weaknesses, a good karma for example will be able to practically 1v2 the opposing lane leaving you free to farm comfortably. The speed on her synergises well with in allowing you to chase down enemies. - Morgana has many tools which synergize well with Vayne in the mid and late game but don't do much for her early game. While not being a weak laner as such, Morgana doesn't bring the pure strength of any of the supports previously listed. has such a long snare duration which allows her to set Vayne up with some very easy 's. is an amazing spell for Vayne and it's worth is invaluable in a late game fight. The later into the game the more important this spell becomes, sticking this on Vayne at full items turns her into a true Monster. - Thresh is the jack of all trades when it comes to support. His kit is bursting with utility and he can fill almost any role the team needs. While normally taken with low mobility ADC's such as mobility only becomes more powerful when stacked. can serve as a great escape tool after you dive in. is great for setting up , the time you can lockdown people for with this combo is incredibly long and almost always a kill in lane. is actually very good for Vayne as the small distance and slow is usually enough to allow for a short 3 auto attack trade while not being a massive commitment, it can also be used defensively to peel for Vayne early and keep melee supports off her. - Soraka is the queen of sustain. can be used so frequently that you can heal thousands of health worth of poke in a few minutes of laning. As Vayne is susceptible to poke this has great benefit to her, however apart from this Soraka adds very little prescence to the lane, this can leave Vayne in a situation where she is taking much more damage than she would with another support as the lane is practically 1v2. - Zyra brings a lot of power to botlane that Vayne really lacks early. Many a time Zyra can 100-0 both enemy champions in botlane without any help from her AD, this buys Vayne a lot of breathing room when it comes to CSing. Zyra also pokes really hard due to the enormous range on her spells, this means she is usually positioned quite safe leaving the enemy botlane with very little chance to all in her while Vayne farms under this safety. - Lulu is similar to Nami and Janna in what she brings to the lane. Lots of statistical power but also spells which really augment nicely with Vaynes existing kit. combos amazingly well with if cast upon Vayne herself, alternatively it can be used to help Vayne duel the enemy ADC post level 6. is similar to Janna shield. It not only shields Vayne but offers her more damage in the form of instead of the raw AD Janna shield provides. Finally makes it very hard for the enemy botlane to burst Vayne and if used in conjunction with a in, can be used to knock-up the enemy ADC. - Vel'Koz is similar to Zyra except he has less CC and so is a bit worse of a support pick. He provides a lot of long range poke and high damage so he can provide Vayne a safe zone to farm in from a nice distance. - Leona is a very strange pick to use with Vayne. It has downsides as Leona is very weak level 1 and this allows the enemy bottom lane to REALLY punish Vayne in this time-frame. I would recommend doing a jungle camp level 1 almost 100% of the time with Leona as the XP you get for free is invaluable in making your weak time as short as possible. However if you can survive to 6 Leona adds a lot of damage to a fight with and due to her large amount of CC she can set up some really easy 's for you. Adding all this CC together is 4.25 seconds of stun's which makes for a really deadly lane combo if you can perform the combo. (remember Vayne is the only ADC with a stun except for Ashe) - Fiddlesticks is a very strange support pick which I rarely see, but when I do see it a very experienced player is usually the one doing so and a well played Fiddlesticks support can do so much good in the lane phase. while not as effective as it used to be since the nerf to it, still does a lot of poke damage which can help zone. is a SUPER strong spell when it comes to in lane trading, it leaves the enemy ADC able to do nothing leaving you free to proc with no retaliation. Lastly his level 6 powerspike with works really well with Vaynes own level 6 powerspike, the sheer amount of damage this spell does almost always guarantees a kill upon use. - Annie provides a lot of burst but being very short range this can leave her susceptible to the same thing Vayne is (getting poked). The enemy botlane will often bully Annie if she tries to zone for you so her job is very hard until level 6. Once at level 6 she works beautifully with Vayne. with allows Annie to get into a range where she can drop her whole combo chunking somebody very low, i might sound like a broken record here but this leaves Vayne a very easy and kill. - Alistar is not the best support to play with Vayne. His heal, is so mediocre that it really doesn't help with poke and he needs to expend a lot of mana and commit heavily to a fight if he wants to do anything in laning. Neither of these is a good thing and he is almost useless in lane with Vayne. His main use is to peel for ADC's in teamfights but Vayne is very self peeling or plays as an assassin so even outside laning he is a bad match. His only redeeming feature is the ability to an enemy into a wall which can be stacked with . - Blitzcrank is either a godsend or your worst nightmare as Vayne. If he doesn't land his then the lane is basically 1v2. This is terrible for Vayne and completely wrecks your early game. On the other hand if he can land hooks on the enemy AD Vayne's low range is negated and you can put some real damage down on them. It would be unusual to land the hook and not burn an enemies summoner spell or kill them. Blitzcrank is quite good when he can hook people under towers and many people shove Vayne into the turret when playing against her so that also works quite nicely in your favor aswell. - Taric is a very binary champion due to his old design which makes him either really strong or disgustingly weak. His stun is low range point and click so he is either able to walk up and land it or he isn't. His heal, doesn't do much as Taric probably will max it last so it barely negates poke. His stun, is very poor early game and is so short range he will be punished if he walks up to cast it. at least gives Vayne some passive armour in lane so you can survive auto attack harass more but due to the fact Taric is the support Vayne will take more poke than she otherwise would. (With Taric you should swap to scaling armour or scaling health seals just to get the most out of this spell). - Bard has weak laning which makes him not the best to pair with Vayne however there are many good qualities about this pairing. Firstly can stun people into walls just the same as can, the ability to do this twice is very nice as one landing sets up the other. synergises well with as it gives 50% move speed at all ranks. The heal is not very good in laning as it is usually maxed last and barely does anything unless maxed first. is great to add to Vaynes mobility and allows for some great angles to land both of your wall stuns. will also have Bard roaming around the map quite a lot mid game to pick up his chimes. This is around the time Vayne will be looking to duel people 1v1 and pick up some solo XP so they synergize like this aswell. - Tahm Kench is a very bad support to pair with Vayne. His poke doesn't do very much damage to help apply pressure in a lane and it's almost impossible to get into the enemies face and apply his passive so he can use . The other strength of Tahm is eating his ADC mid fight to save them from large incoming damage, however Vayne already has a lot of tools to survive mid fight and eating her simply eats into (no pun intended) her ultimate duration.

A common misconception with Vayne is that she is useless early game. This is actually horribly untrue. She still does a lot of damage early game however she requires several seconds to get this damage outputted. Over the course of 4-6 seconds Vayne can kill an enemy ADC or support early game. This is probably faster than most other ADC's at that point in the game. The only issue is most ADC's can do say 50% of a ADC's HP in a mere 1 seconds burst. Getting one proc of off is hard enough in a lane environment nevermind 2. As such laning can be very frustrating on Vayne where you are constantly getting harassed and it feels impossible to retaliate at all. However having the confidence to try these 2 proc trades can make the lane seem a lot easier. The more confident you seem about the situation the more the enemy botlane have to fear you. Always remember your playing Vayne, one of the best late game scalers there is. The onus is on the enemy botlane to try and win. Simply by going even you win. So when they make their move on you don't be afraid to give them a taste of their own medicine. As the saying goes, once bitten twice shy, the fear of feeding a Vayne who is aggressively seeking out trades can buy you a lot of free breathing space. By simply trading well once you can put doubt in their minds about whether they should be trying to punish you. A lot of playing Vayne comes down to confidence. As soon as you have you should be actively seeking 2v1 situations unless your horribly far behind. And go into each one telling yourself that you will dodge all the spells that can be dodged and that you will get the double kill and get out alive. By being confident you can stay calm and staying calm allows you to use Vayne's formidable arsenal to deadly effectiveness.

So you made it to mid game. What now? Are you ahead? Look to make picks in the enemy jungle. Are you behind? Look to punish overextending enemies. Do they have great waveclear? Start splitpushing. Are they grouping for fights? Go get yourself some kills and objectives. Midgame is the time when your game plan should start to develop on Vayne. You need to be looking at who is fed on the enemy team and who isn't. Who is fed on your team and who isn't. What strengths this gives the enemy team and what weaknesses it leaves them with. Think about the same thing for your team. Say the enemy is fed from roaming top and in your jungle. Botlane went even. Luckily your didn't die even when she returned with kills and even managed to push down her tower and develop a pretty hefty CS lead. This leaves you with two weak bruisers but a tower lead. Your team is weak at teamfighting but strong at waveclearing. Think logically about your win conditions for this game, there's more than one way to skin a cat and there sure as hell isn't one path to destroying a nexus. Repeatedly engaging 5v5 isn't going to do anyone any good. Let your jungler and top farm back into the game. Leave and the support to defend the towers the enemies are trying to push down. Your going to try and increase this tower lead so you can give your weak bruisers some global gold. The enemy team will likely send down to 1v1 you. If you bring a pink ward with you this is an easy 1v1. She won't expect you to try but your a confident Vayne player aren't you? Your gonna dodge her e and cancel her w with condemn. What's more you even flashed after firing it so now she's stunned into a wall. Drop that pink and melt her through her passive. That's some shutdown gold to you and another tower for the team. If the enemy team sends more than one person to stop you split pushing then just back up. Your not losing anything and in the meantime your farming more efficiently than they are. Hell your team may even manage to get a tower in this timeframe. If you make it to late game on Vayne you have a very high chance of winning a game due to your champion pick. So making it through the midgame is your number one priority. You should always be checking to see where your advantages are (and trying to increase them) and where your disadvantages are (and seeking to nullify them). It doesn't matter how good you are if all the enemy team needs to do is burn everything on you. A 50/0 Vayne dies just a fast as a 0/10 Vayne. It's all about your team, if they're ahead then it buys you breathing room to do what you need to do.

Congratulations. You picked Vayne and made it to the promised land, the late game. Now your ready to go 1v5 like Doublelift, or Hi im Gosu, right? Wrong. Late game is like the cold war and you're a nuclear missile for your team. Guess what, the enemy team doesn't even have a nuclear missile. Go pressure that Baron get those Dragon buffs racking up to 5. Push gently on those inhibitor towers. What are the enemy team going to do about it? They're gonna engage onto a team with a well protected, well farmed, well itemized and well positioned Vayne. Yeah I doubt it. The threat alone of a late game Vayne is usually enough. The enemies know it only get's harder the longer the game goes on. That clock keeps ticking. Those dragons keep dying. The towers keep falling and the gold keeps flowing. This will make them desperate and in their desperation they will slip up. Don't rush into anything, you don't need to play this anywhere near perfectly. It just needs to be average. Do your job and be pleased you made it to a point where you could just walk the game home.

Despite everything I just said it's not unfathomable that the enemy team may have picked a team comp which beats your team comp in late game teamfights. Don't sweat it. They're just getting the type of fights they want. As the late game champion on your team you need to analyze what that is and how to deny them. It's just like midgame again. What's the win condition? How is the map looking? What inhibitors are bare? How long will it take to backdoor? All of these questions are important. Even if you have no intention of backdooring. They may have 2 open inhibitors. You need to threaten the enemy team around the map to push them where you want them. Make them walk constantly. To baron to bot to mid to top to bot to baron to bot to top etc etc. Once more it's likely that at some point they will slip up. Make the wrong decision or someone will just get careless. You don't win 5v5's but that dead Orianna sure won't do them any favours. If they have an advantage in map matters however this provides you with a unique opportunity. They will be trying to dance you around the map. Vayne is rare in that as an ADC she can flank the enemy team and pick off key targets quickly and get out. If your losing 5v5's because of their wombo combo maybe picking off a key member of that wombo first is all it takes. Maybe you should be split pushing. Is their frontline actually killing you. Fuck that noise flash past them and dive the enemy backline. Remember the talk on confidence? Dying as the ADC due to a suicidal flash forward is usually bad but if you allow your frontline to take down say 2 of the enemy carries because of your assistance, well you do the maths. 4 > 3. Just because you are the ADC doesn't mean you have to be backline. Think where your damage needs to be for you to win the fight and who needs to die on the enemy team. Set yourselves these goals and be confident. If you know that killing a certain member of the enemy team for your own life guarantees your allies the 4v4 win don't be afraid to go for that pick. The confidence to do the unexpected often leads to situations going better than you would expect. If your having second doubts about a play don't make it. Just wait till you see an opportunity, be confident and then take it.

I can give no actual advice with 1v5's as every game is different however I can say that once more confidence is key. Go into that first kill thinking it will be a penta [vid=] None of that play would have happened if I hadn't been confident in my abilities to start the play and continue it. Remember patience is key wait for your moment to strike and don't be afraid to do so when it appears. This video is a 1v5 quadra kill using the build. Note how towards the end it would have likely become a pentakill if I hadn't been unsure of myself and had just auto attacked. [vid=] This video is also used to demonstrate the raw power an IE build has late game as opposed to the finesse which a build requires simply brute force can be applied with an build.
