Hi, I was a S2 2k elo player who mained top lane udyr. Udyr is a safe blind picks for top because he can do well against nearly anyone thanks to his sustain from [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] and his [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] poke Pros: Very strong early and mid game Immovable from lane in most matchups CC Runs fast Fun to play Cons: Vulnerable to kiting and slows (Kog'Maw, Janna, Anivia, Nunu) Falls off a bit late game due to only one main damage ability Doesn't contribute very much to teamfights - lacks aoe damage and gap closer No "ultimate" [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/zVmW8.jpg] [imgext=http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5738/37305027.png] Reason for making this guide: I see too many people fail at matchups that I have never/would never have thought were possible to lose.

[highlight]Marks - Greater Mark of Strength[/highlight] Best option, flat attack damage synergizes with tiger stance. I would not consider anything else. [highlight]Seals - Greater Seal of Resilience[/highlight] Best option [highlight]Glyphs - Greater Glyph of Warding or Greater Glyph of Shielding[/highlight] Use flat magic resist runes against AP champs such as vlad and rumble. Use scaling magic resist when laning against champs that deal little to no magic damage (riven, tryndamere, irelia, etc) [highlight]Quintessences - Greater Quintessence of Strength or Greater Quintessence of Swiftness[/highlight] I use flat AD most of the time to further boost my early game, Swiftness is another good option to move faster, this can help in certain matchups (ranged) and make it harder for the enemy to kite you in fights. They help a lot against high mobility teams. These are the rune pages I usually use. [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/wfeI6.jpg] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/V8SET.jpg]

[title][img=skills/udyr/p.png] Passive: Monkey's Agility[/title] [number]Entering a stance grants Udyr 10% attack speed for 5 seconds. This effect can stack.[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Decent passive, free attack speed is always good. Try to keep the stacks up when pushing towers and during team fights. Now also gives extra armor/mr, nice. [title][img=skills/udyr/q.png] Q: Tiger Stance[/title] [number]Activation: On his next attack, Udyr swipes at his target, dealing normal attack and dealing 150% of his attack damage + 30 / 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 extra damage over 2 seconds as magic damage. In addition, It increases attack speed 5% less than passive for 5 seconds. Persistent Effect: Udyr's attack speed is increased by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%. Half of this is persistent, the other half is activated for 5 seconds. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is what makes you so scary in early and mid game. Your next auto attack will have a magic damage over time effect, along with the physical damage. The tiger proc does massive damage and you also get attack speed steroids from it. It's also hard for your opponent to itemize against because in addition to being a heavy magic damage nuke, it allows you to do significant physical damage with auto attacks. This is also the stance you want to be in when pushing towers. [title][img=skills/udyr/w.png] W: Turtle Stance[/title] [number]Activation: Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+50% of ability power) damage. Persistent Effect: Udyr's attacks cannot crit, but he restores 10/12/14/16/18% of his damage as health and 5/6/7/8/9% of his damage as mana. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This skill is what makes Udyr's laning phase so great. The shield helps to mitigate the enemy laner's damage in trades, and when their skills are on cooldown you can quickly regen to both full hp and mana off creeps, thanks to the passive life/manasteal effect. If you are losing trades with the opposing laner, or you fall behind by dying to a jungle gank, max this to recover. During teamfights, try to pay attention to your cooldowns so that you can quickly switch back to tiger or bear stance after going into turtle. You mainly want to go into turtle stance for the shield, the passive effect doesn't really do anything in a teamfight, tiger and bear stance will be better. [title][img=skills/udyr/e.png] E: Bear Stance[/title] [number]Activation: Udyr gains 15 / 18 / 21 / 24 / 27% increased movement speed for 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 seconds. Persistent Effect: Udyr mauls his target with such force that they are stunned for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for 6 seconds. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Allows you to run super fast, and makes your autoattack stun anyone for 1s, but you can't stun the same person for 6 seconds. You can disrupt the enemy team in teamfights by running around and stunning everyone. This is also the main reason you should take flash over ghost, because this skill is already a pseudo ghost, and udyr has no built in gap closer. Something you can do is first activate tiger stance so that your next autoattack will apply the DoT, then switch to bear stance and stun someone (which will apply the DoT), and then switch back to tiger stance for another DoT proc. However, if you switch back to tiger too fast, you won't get the full damage of two procs. It will only prolong the damage over time effect. Ideally you want to spread them out between one or two standard autoattacks, but that's not always possible. [title][img=skills/udyr/r.png] R: Phoenix Stance[/title] [number]Activation: Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing 15/25/35/45/55 (+25% of ability power) magic damage each second to nearby enemies for 5 seconds. In addition, Udyr's ability power is increased by 16 / 24 / 32 / 40 / 48 and his attack damage is increased by half of that amount. Persistent Effect: Every third attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame, dealing 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 (+25% of ability power) magic damage. Cooldown 6 seconds Cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana[/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] More useful in the jungle, also improves your ability to push late game. It gives you some extra AD so during late game pushes, switch between this and tiger stance.

Start [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png] vs heavy AD champs [imgsmall=items/long-sword.png] vs weak early laners [imgsmall=items/crystalline-flask.png] vs ranged champs you can sustain against Get 1 ward if they have an aggressive early jungler Rush [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png] against most bruisers, the extra movespeed and the passive effect (10% auto attack reduction) are great. You can buy [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png] if you have an extra 500 gold lying around when you go back to base. Your first item should be [imgsmall=items/bilgewater-cutlass.png]. This combined with your [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] makes it impossible to force you out of lane, the active also does decent damage and gives you some kill potential. You can also buy an early [imgsmall=items/null-magic-mantle.png] against vlad, kennen, and rumble From there build [imgsmall=items/giants-belt.png], you can turn it into [imgsmall=items/warmogs-armor.png] or [imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] depending on their team (more AP or more AD based)? From there, either buy tank items or more damage depending on what your team needs and who is fed on the opposing team. [imgsmall=items/randuins-omen.png] great item to get vs a heavy physical team or a fed ad carry. [imgsmall=items/frozen-heart.png] solid item, CDR, nice aura, high armor [imgsmall=items/warmogs-armor.png] OP. although, udyr already has pretty high base HP and [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] so you don't have to get it. [imgsmall=items/trinity-force.png] nerfed significantly (phage), i do not recommend buying unless as last item [imgsmall=items/blade-of-the-ruined-king.png] fantastic dps item, passive is great against high hp (standard) teams these days. Passive also synergizes decently with tiger stance attack speed. [imgsmall=items/maw-of-malmortius.png] great anti AP item [imgsmall=items/runic-bulwark.png] great overall defensive aura item. buy if no one else on your team gets it [imgsmall=items/spirit-visage.png] great against magic damage. CDR is nice [imgsmall=items/zephyr.png] tenacity, damage, AS (synergy with BotRK), CDR. good item [imgsmall=items/frozen-fist.png] triforce procs on a tanky armor item with CDR. decent but idk if worth the price [imgsmall=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png] Great when you know there's going to be a teamfight soon (dragon spawning shortly) Gives you a decent boost to damage and survivability. Always buy them late game if you max out on items. [imgsmall=items/sight-ward.png] Always buy 1 or more of these when you go back to base. Vision and map control win games. If they have [img=champ/anivia.png][img=champ/nunu.png] don't pick Udyr. You won't be able to get anywhere in fights, these two are the most problematic champs for Udyr. If they pick [img=champ/vladimir.png][img=champ/kennen.png] top, try to pick someone else instead of Udyr unless you are confident that you will get fed off them. If they stay even with you, they do so much more in fights just by pressing R.. AOE damage amplify/chain cc. Plus they have just as much survivability as you thanks to [img=items/will-of-the-ancients.png][img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png]. Also [img=champ/kayle.png][img=champ/teemo.png] are annoying Udyr is extremely strong vs bruisers, there are many matchups where you can just dominate and prevent the enemy top laner from getting farmed at all (including [img=champ/yorick.png], udyr is one of very few champs able to effectively zone yorick). It's also nice to have [img=champ/janna.png] on your team as Udyr, her passive gives 3% movespeed which is great.

[img=champ/akali.png] Start long sword, [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] whenever she goes for a last hit, make her scared of you. You win trades and outsustain her. Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. This matchup can be a bit tricky, try not to fight inside of her shroud, it gives her bonus resistances and stealth. Her base stats buff made this matchup a bit harder than it used to be Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/chogath.png] Start long sword, max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png], harass him early on when his sustain and tankiness are minimal. If you let him get going, he'll become too tanky to do very much to, but he won't be able to do much to you too. Usually becomes a farmfest. An early successful jungle gank can snowball the lane in your favor and make it hard for him to recover. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/darius.png] Start cloth armor or fort pot. He is most threatening early on, you can shrug off his damage later with some armor/health/sustain. Try to stay outside of the range of his swing, if he uses it to farm go harass him with tiger. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/fiora.png] She cannot trade with you at any point in the laning phase. Her [imgsmall=skills/fiora/w.png] lets her counter one autoattack, try to bait it out if you can, but it really isn't a big deal even if you do get countered. Ignorable with a ninja tabi. Difficulty: 1/5 [img=champ/gangplank.png] Start [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png]. He will shoot his gun at you nonstop, try to block some with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png], but dont use up too much mana, you have pots. Rush tabi and he wont be a threat, you can easily zone him after your first. Put 2 or 3 levels into [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png], then max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. He HAS to farm, he accomplishes next to nothing by roaming (his global ultimate is worth more than him actually being there), so freeze the lane, forcing him to get zoned. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/garen.png] Start [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png]. When he charges at you, make sure to get your tiger proc up before he silences you. Fight him when he spins, you can't run away. If he tries to heal up with his passive make sure to zone him from last hits or reset his passive if he tries to. Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] first. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/irelia.png] Start long sword. [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] when she bladesurges minions for last hits (keep an eye on which of your minions are low! and stand next to them), she will try to autoattack minions to heal up, don't let her. Your damage and sustain are much greater than hers (even when her true damage is active). Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. The only time she has a chance to beat you is at lvl 6, when she gets her ultimate. Be careful for an all in at that point if neither of you have gone back yet and she has a decent amount of health left. Like GP, she has to farm, so freeze the lane making it harder for her. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/janna.png] AP Janna actually does pretty well against udyr ... try to get a kill early on when she is squishiest, 90% of the time she will use her tornado in the direction of your creeps, just stay out of that range and zone her. Later in the laning phase her tornado gets really good for waveclear and there isn't too much you can do to kill her. Her passive also gives bonus movespeed. Early jungle gank can help you snowball the lane. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/jarvaniv.png] Start long sword. He has no sustain, keep poking him with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. You can also max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] first and freeze the lane, you will be able to completely ignore him with nothing more than ninja tabi. Maxing [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] first is pretty much fail-safe in this matchup, but you'll have less kill potential. If you max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] first, he has a chance of beating you if he outplays you, but you also have a higher chance of killing him if you play it right. His [imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/e.png][imgsmall=skills/jarvaniv/q.png] AA combo does decent damage and knocks you up, and if he backs out properly you can't really retaliate, so try not to be predictable and dodge them. If either of you runs out of mana early on, you'll basically be helpless to the other. The longer the lane goes on the more one-sided it gets in your favor, you have infinite sustain and poke whereas he has mana problems and can't burst you down. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/jax.png] Start long sword. This matchup can actually be quite hard. You are a lot stronger early on with tiger stance, so zone/harass him, try to even get a kill. Be careful after lvl 6, jax is really strong at long 1v1 fights so try to poke him down and outsustain him. If it goes to mid/late game and he keeps up with you in farm he's going to be way stronger than you. When he leaps at you with his counterstrike activated (you can tell because a blue circle kinda thing appears around him), shift into turtle stance, because you'll take damage without being able to counterattack. Afterwards go back into tiger and hit him. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/jayce.png] Start flask and pots. Similiar to Nidalee, his harass is mainly just ranged autoattacks, although his sped up bolt/shock does a surprising amount of damage early on. His acceleration gate has a 10+ second cooldown, so after he uses it you can run at him to harass. Build [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png], put a few points in [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png], and he can't do anything to you. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/kennen.png] Start flask and pots. Early game don't even bother trying to harass him unless he makes a mistake. Level [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] to 3 and you will be able to tank all of his harass and heal to full. Once you have a few dorans and phage you can actually kill him if you get him slowed, he is really squishy. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/leesin.png] Start [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png]. He does a lot of damage early, he'll probably try to safeguard to his minions when they are low, hit him with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] when he does so. You CANT tunnel vision on the creeps when he safeguards to them at low hp, especially early on. If you do, he gets 1-2 autos + [imgsmall=skills/leesin/e.png], maybe even [imgsmall=skills/leesin/q.png] for free, and you can't retaliate after because you'll be slowed. Don't take too much damage, he has a lot of kill potential if he gets you low at lvl 2 and 3. Once you get wriggles you easily win trades and sustain harder than him. He will max his shield for sustain first, you should too. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/malphite.png] Start long sword. He actually counters most bruisers because he reduces attack speed significantly, however you have a magic damage proc so you can beat him. Basically you want to either bait out his [imgsmall=skills/malphite/e.png] on creeps and then go in to harass him, or just zone him away from the creeps. He uses it to farm because it's his only AOE ability, but it also reduces attack speed drastically, which is why you want to avoid getting hit by it. You probably won't be able to kill him though, so just farm. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/mordekaiser.png] Start long sword. You can beat the crap out of him early, so try to zone or kill him. Eventually, if he's not very behind, he will start to have enough sustain to stay in lane. Try to stand to the side of the minions, this forces him to choose between using [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/e.png] to harass you or to farm. I would actually recommend buying [imgsmall=items/hexdrinker.png] in this matchup because he will probably use his ultimate [imgsmall=skills/mordekaiser/r.png] as a finisher. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/nasus.png] Start long sword. Keep harassing him and force him out of lane. If the lane ever pushes to your tower freeze it outside of tower range and completely zone him from exp. Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. Difficulty: 1/5 [img=champ/nautilus.png] While this champ isn't much of a threat in a 1v1 scenario (i think he's most similiar to Malphite), he sets up ganks ridiculously well. If they have a strong ganking jungler expect to get camped, not much you can do about it, they can gank from anywhere with very high success rate. It gets even worse once he hits level 6. I would even recommend rushing [img=items/mercurys-treads.png], just to make escaping ganks easier. Difficulty: Depends on enemy jungler [img=champ/nidalee.png] Start flask and pots. She will autoattack you all day. She will push to your tower early and if she harasses you on top of tower, ask for jungler gank, she should be a free kill. If she doesn't, then you get to free farm there. Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] and once you have wriggles you can ignore her/out trade her if she jumps at you with cougar. Zone her when she tries to get last hits, or punish her with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] if she comes too close. This match up takes a while to get used to, can be difficult for players new to udyr. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/poppy.png] Nowadays people generally run a heavy armor rune page on Poppy, which along with her [imgsmall=skills/poppy/w.png] (more armor) makes it very hard for standard AD/bruisers top to do much to her. However, you counter her (although not as hard as Olaf and his true damage does) thanks to the magic damage on [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. Not only that, it's a damage over time effect, which completely ignores poppy's passive (Any damage dealt to Poppy that exceeds 10% of her current health is reduced by 50%), unless she is already at very low hp, in which case [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] should finish her off. Starts boots and just keep harassing her. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/shen.png] He's like a tankier, less bursty akali. Try not to get hit by his passive, it gives bonus damage. However he cant manually activate/deactivate it, he has to waste it on creeps for last hits. After its down harass him with tiger. When he ulti's try to stun him out of it even if you need to flash stun under tower. You should be tanky enough to survive but if he finishes channeling his ulti it means bad news for your team. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/singed.png] Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] first and harass him whenever he tries to farm. Try to get a kill or send him back early if possible, once he gets to lvl 6 it becomes much harder to kill him. Also, don't get flung into tower, if the tower is idle it will aggro you, possibly giving him a kill with poison and ignite. If it doesn't aggro, you still can't retaliate because you will get hit if you try to hit singed under tower, so he basically gets free harass on you. What some singed players like to do is just run into lane, turn on their ult, and constantly try to fight you because you have no ulti. Just keep poking him with tiger when he comes near and don't chase his poison when he backs off. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/olaf.png] Don't be scared of him, when he hits you with [imgsmall=skills/olaf/e.png], hit him back with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. Your sustain outdoes his by far. 1 or 2 dorans blade are actually quite helpful in this matchup, because he deals true damage. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/pantheon.png] Start [imgsmall=items/cloth-armor.png][imgsmall=items/health-potion5.png]. He's like gangplank early, spamming q on you whenever he can. Try to block some with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png]. He has no sustain though, once you get tanky enough to shrug off his harass you can bully him quite hard. Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] first. Let your team know when he's missing, he'll probably be getting ready to mandrop on mid or bot. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/renekton.png] Renekton is known for his early game strength, however you are stronger at level 1, so try to harass him then. He'll try to [imgsmall=skills/renekton/w.png][imgsmall=skills/renekton/q.png] you when you go for last hits, try to avoid him when he has 50+ fury. Also try to dodge his gapcloser, or else he will combo you then dash away. Your sustain outdoes his. Rush [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png] and don't get baited by his ultimate, it gives him 300/450/600 bonus health. Try to manage your mana well early, or else you'll be helpless against him. The lane gets much easier as it goes on. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/riven.png] Her kit allows her to jump around all day and kite you. You need to not let her get free hits on you, [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] when she tries to fight you or go for cs. Also try to manage your mana well, if you run OOM she will bully you incredibly hard. Rush ninja tabi to catch up to her when she kites. After your 1st or 2nd b, she becomes ignorable and you can kill her if she tries to fight you. Level [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] to 3 and then max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. Difficulty: 3/5 [img=champ/rumble.png] [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] him when he goes for last hits, try not to get hit by his [imgsmall=skills/rumble/e.png], they will slow you. You need magic resist to fight him, once you get wits end he is killable. He is going to be a much bigger threat than you in teamfights though, try to ask your jungler to help shut him down if possible. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/ryze.png] Similar to Vlad, he has a pretty weak early game and gets tankier/more sustainable as the lane goes on. Early on harass him if he gets too close. You should take movespeed quints. Level [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] to 3 then max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png]. Build 1-2 [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png] and [imgsmall=items/mercurys-treads.png]. Freeze lane and if he overextends after you get phage, you can chase him down and kill him. Be careful when he has blue buff, the extra spammability boosts his DPS and makes him harder to fight. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/swain.png] Not the best matchup, he has a slow, snare, and his ultimate lets him constantly heal and damage you when you are nearby. Luckily, not many people play swain, but try to avoid this matchup if you can. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/teemo.png] Start flask and pots. His early harass is pretty hard to deal with, farm to the best of your ability and max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png]. Once you have wriggles it becomes much harder for him to harass you down. Try to snowball off ganks, he will almost always be overextended against you. There is a point in midgame where you can beat him, but early on and after he buys [imgsmall=items/frozen-mallet.png], it's just hell. Difficulty: 5/5 [img=champ/tryndamere.png] Rush ninja tabi. You can win trades against him, but don't let him autoattack minions or else he will heal up. His fury bar also gives him more crit chance, which is another reason you need to keep him away from the minions. Zone him hard, a farmed tryn is scary. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/vladimir.png] Early on, try to zone him away from exp completely. Just run up to him when your creeps are getting low, he either has to tank [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and several auto attacks, or run away from you until he's out of exp range. He doesn't really have any way of trading back, his [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] has a 10 second cooldown and his auto attacks do minimal damage. [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] both damage him through his [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png], so if you get him low, you can try to flash and DoT him. You can do a lot of damage to him once you get [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png]x2, once you get a phage you can actually kill him with just 1 or 2 slow procs. Having [imgsmall=champ/janna.png] on your team swings the matchup more in your favor. This match up takes a lot of experience to get used to. Difficulty: 4/5 [img=champ/warwick.png] Start long sword. Abuse him early, he cannot trade back and he will run OOM super quickly. Try to zone him so he doesn't get very much early farm. Make sure that if he goes for last hits, you punish him with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and 2-3 auto attacks. He needs to buy both MR and armor just to stay in lane against you. You shouldn't ever drop below half health but if you do, back off. His [imgsmall=skills/warwick/q.png][imgsmall=skills/warwick/r.png][imgsmall=skills/warwick/q.png][imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] combo will kill you. Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/wukong.png] Don't [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] his clone and you will win. Your sustain is too much for him to handle. Difficulty: 1/5 [img=champ/yorick.png] King of top lane? nope. Once you have lifesteal and some magic resist, he won't be able to break your shield and while you are 100% hp 100% mana he will eventually run out of mana. Max [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] first. You can also level up [imgsmall=skills/udyr/r.png] instead of [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] in this match up, to quickly clear his ghouls whenever he harasses you. Difficulty: 3/5

Difficulty: 2/5 [img=champ/nasus.png] Start long sword. Keep harassing him and force him out of lane.

Farm, harass, and watch out for jungle ganks. In particular be careful if they have a lee sin who starts red on purple side, or an alistar who starts blue on blue side. They will almost always try to level 2 gank you, so stay back. It's never fun to get zoned for free but it's better than giving them a free kill. Some other level two gankers include [imgsmall=champ/drmundo.png], [imgsmall=champ/jarvaniv.png], [imgsmall=champ/pantheon.png], [imgsmall=champ/shyvana.png], and [imgsmall=champ/shaco.png], especially when they start at red buff on purple side. Otherwise most junglers won't gank you until they clear jungle (purple side), or clear and buy (blue side). Also, sometimes if your lane pushes early and their jungler comes to gank with half health you can actually kill them with [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png]. Also make sure to help your jungler if he invades the enemy jungle/gets invaded. I usually play pretty aggressively, so my lane will push to their tower early. This will often result in their jungler coming to gank you after they take red buff. Against a strong ganker, you should recall when there is a large wave at their tower, but against someone like [imgsmall=champ/warwick.png], you can stay and wait for the lane to push back. By pushing to their tower early, the tower will reset the lane, causing it to push back towards your side. You won't miss too many creeps by going back, and normally you should try to get [imgsmall=items/dorans-blade.png] or [imgsmall=items/ninja-tabi.png] and a ward or two. This allows you to continue being aggressive and burn their remaining potions, and they'll have an even harder time trading because you have an item advantage. You can also ask your jungler to countergank by hiding in either the lane brush or one of the river brushes, you are usually stronger than most other top laners at that point so you should win most 2v2 fights. Plus, you have the element of surprise when the other jungler walks into the brush and finds your jungler waiting. A lot of the time I will freeze the lane after my first back, this allows me to farm safely while denying the enemy gold/exp. This often snowballs into a level/gold gap that makes it impossible for the enemy to stay in lane against me.

At this point, both teams will probably be getting ready to contest dragon and push mid. Mid game is when you are strongest, you will be wrecking everyone's face. If your team manages to catch and kill 1 person, immediately go do dragon. Udyr also does dragon really fast. Try to force objectives because you are hitting your peak and you should utilize it. If you know when the enemy buffs (red/blue) spawn, group up and fight for it. Jungle buffs spawn every 5:00, dragon respawns in 6:00, and baron respawns in 7:00. You can also start to solo splitpush if the other team has too much waveclear to just 5 man push mid against. Few champs can 1v1 you during midgame and it requires a 3 man gank to actually kill you. Have your team constantly pressure mid while you push top. As long as you have proper ward coverage in their jungle you should be fine. It varies from game to game, but on average I'd say when the solos are around lvl 11 (lvl 2 ulti) is when mid game starts.

Tell your team to group up and either push if you have the advantage, or defend if you don't. Turrets are the most important objective at this stage of the game, you can't win without taking them down. Also be ready to do Baron. You and your team should be buying lots of wards to give vision of the opposing team. Ward all the areas leading up to baron (jungle entrances, bushes, ramps). If your team is ahead, try to force baron with oracles. Oracle's allows whoever has it to see wards and kill them. By doing this you remove the enemy teams vision and gain map control. If they have no vision over baron, they either have to go to baron, possibly getting baited into a fight, or just give up the global gold and buff that comes along with baron. Neither are good options. Having baron buff makes pushing a lot easier. The constant regeneration lets you shrug off enemy poke, and they will want to avoid fights, so they will stand a bit farther back. Stand in the front of your team when you or their team is pushing turrets. Try to soak up skillshots directed at your carries in [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png]. Taking an inhibitor gives your team super minions, which do way more damage and have way more durability than regular minions. Usually you should try to get the mid inhibitor first, and then either bottom or top. Once you have one inhibitor, the rest get easier because your minion wave will be constantly pushing on theirs. They will have to send 1 or 2 champs to clear out the wave or else their nexus turrets will take damage, and the rest will have to back off their tower while you push.

Most of the time, you shouldn't initiate the fight. Your stun only lasts 1 second, so chances are your team isn't going to be able to follow up fast enough. Usually your jungler or support should be the one to initiate ([imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png][imgsmall=champ/jarvaniv.png][imgsmall=champ/leona.png][imgsmall=champ/nocturne.png][imgsmall=champ/nautilus.png]). If the other team has anivia, nunu, or janna, you should stick with your team, you will get kited around too hard if you just run in. [imgsmall=champ/nunu.png] is the most troublesome champ to deal with as udyr, his [imgsmall=skills/nunu/e.png] reduces your movespeed significantly. Most other bruisers don't have such a hard time with him just because they have gap closers, but you don't. If your carries are fed protect them, stand in front of them to block skillshots (ahri taunt, etc), and hit the assassins and tanks that actually do damage (not something like leona or alistar). Alistar and Leona are full tanks who deal next to no damage after they use their initial crowd control to initiate. Shift stances, using [imgsmall=skills/udyr/e.png] to stun everyone, [imgsmall=skills/udyr/w.png] when you are getting focused, [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] to DPS. If you see their carries out of position, immediately flash stun them and start hitting them with tiger. Usually in late game teamfights you shouldn't be spending much time in turtle stance, a 200 hp shield is not very much when you already have 3k+ hp. Just try to do as much damage and disruption as you can with your other abilities. Generally the question you should ask yourself when deciding how you should play during the fight is: Are the enemy carries a bigger threat than mine are? If yes, try to isolate one or both of them and zone them from the fight, forcing them to focus you or die. If no, stay with your team and focus whoever your carries focus so that you can drop their frontline ASAP and then outnumber their backline. Also, if the enemy carry flashes away with barely any health, don't chase after them, head back towards the fight to support your team.

At the start of the game, you can use Q and your next auto attack will apply the tiger proc. This is especially amazing for level 1 fights. Autoattack once or twice, reactivate [imgsmall=skills/udyr/q.png] and attack again, ignite, combine that with a bit of damage from your team and just about anyone will die. Remember using a second Q immediately after only refreshes the duration, not a new tiger proc. If you're confident your team can gib the first target, you can hit him with your first auto and then immediately use Q on another target to maximize your damage output. If you are purple side, you can wait in the river brush by top lane, sometimes the other top laner will come top after helping with blue through river, you can chunk them down to less than half hp easily. Sometimes I get a free burned flash out of it. If they try to fight you can just kill them. If you ever get ahead of the other top and their wave pushes to your tower, you can freeze it by activating turtle stance and pressing S to do nothing, you won't even take any damage. Only last hit the minions and you can zone the other person for a long time. After they clear your minions, walk towards the center of the lane, which sort of "pulls" them away from your tower. Of course, this has the risk of the enemy top laner roaming, but usually they should be behind enough that they are too weak to accomplish anything. Generally champs that have cc or can initiate a teamfight roam pretty well. Dangerous roamers: [img=champ/galio.png][img=champ/riven.png][img=champ/warwick.png][img=champ/wukong.png][img=champ/malphite.png][img=champ/rumble.png][img=champ/jarvaniv.png] Not Dangerous: [img=champ/fiora.png][img=champ/gangplank.png][img=champ/nasus.png][img=champ/vladimir.png][img=champ/yorick.png][img=champ/teemo.png] The most important thing about top lane is knowing how and when to trade, and outplaying your opponents by getting free damage on them. Part of it is paying attention to your opponent's movements when your/his minions get low (is he getting in position to harass you? does he want to just farm?) It just comes with experience.
