Greetings summoners! This is Theirin, and this is my first guide, I hope that my perception and knowledge of how to play Caitlyn and the role as Attack Damage Carry helps improve your play and your passion for this game. I was 1200 Elo S1, 1600 Elo S2 and am currently a Platinum player around 2k elo now. I am writing this guide to help teach people not only how to play Caitlyn more effectively, but also to help you play the ADC role and carry your teammates to victory in Solo Que. I have been playing League on and off for about 3 years, and have been playing video games since I was around 5 years old on my NES. =) It is my goal and one of my dreams to become a professional Esports player and become Challenger tier. I work very hard to try and accomplish this and am passing my knowledge on to others to see them succeed. My Goals in writing this guide: To help you [.]Have better general knowledge of Caitlyn [.]Give you tips on how to play ADC more proficiently [.]Show in depth lane match-ups including support [.]Give tips on leading your team to victory! So you can become a Diamond level player!

Caitlyn is a very versatile, safe pick due to her high mobility and range, in addition she scales very well and has a kit that allows you to aggressively deny your opponent or passively farm to outplay your opponents mid to late game to bring victory. [title]Pros[/title] [.]Easy to play and learn [.]Early game poke and lane dominance [.]Longest base range without say (Bio Arcane Barage) or Tristana passive (level 16) [.]Perfect kit to outplay and kite your opponents [.]Goes well with any support [.]Passive that can deal some serious damage if you time it correctly [.]One of the best AD pushers early [.]Has traps that grant vision [title]Cons[/title] [.]Somewhat weak mid-game compared to some other AD's [.]Can be mana hungry if you spam spells [.]Skillshots can win or lose your lane in some cases [.] An ultimate that can be blocked, or avoided and put on Cooldown by stasis or dodge abilities Ex:Vlad Pool When to pick Caitlyn: [.]When you see a lot of diving Champions like [imgsmall=champ/irelia.png][imgsmall=champ/jax.png] and you your team lacks the ability to peel for you. [.]Really whenever you want because her range makes it easy to adapt to any situation When you CAN'T pick Caitlyn [.]Basically never, unless your team stacks CC champs with no damage like [imgsmall=champ/chogath.png][imgsmall=champ/maokai.png][imgsmall=champ/malphite.png][imgsmall=champ/alistar.png] and you need a hyper carry like [imgsmall=champ/vayne.png] [title]Base Stats[/title] HEALTH  390 (+80 per level) ATTACK DAMAGE  47 (+3 per level) HEALTH REGEN.  4.75 (+0.55 per level) ATTACK SPEED  0.668 (+3% per level) MANA  255 (+35 per level) ARMOR  13 (+3.5 per level) MANA REGEN.  6.5 (+0.55 per level) MAGIC RES.  30 (+0 per level) RANGE  650 MOV. SPEED  325 Here are her base stats just for some extra info, I also included per level scaling as well.

[title]Masteries[/title] There is one basic Mastery Page to use with slight variation of points [imgext=http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/Theirin/MasteryPageADCStandardCleanseFlash_zps0b606970.png] This Page is the standard 21 in Offense for AD with the rest of the points in Defense to get the improved Cleanse, and 1 point in Utility for a lower cooldown on Flash. This is the one I use the most. I love the reduced flash and Improved cleanse along with the defense for a stronger laning phase, and more durability. There are also other variations in which you can move the points out of the Improved Flash and Cleanse masteries for mana regen in Utility, or for some extra Armor, Health, or Magic Resist in Defence. [title]Runes[/title] For runes, there are many options but I will just cover what I use and they are pretty standard: [imgext=http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/Theirin/RunesStandardADC_zpsc6bb2595.png] [highlight] Marks[/highlight] [number]Attack Damage Marks[/number]:Pretty Standard on ADC in the current meta, they help you last hit and harass [highlight]Seals[/highlight] [number]Armor Seals[/number]:Durability in lane really, again pretty standard here [number]Flat Mp5 Seals[/number]: These can be good if you find yourself having early mana problems [highlight]Glyphs[/highlight] [number]Flat or Scaling MR[/number]:Gives you durability vs. casters to help you mid game. [highlight]Quintessences[/highlight] [number]Flat AD Quintessences[/number]: More AD for last hitting and harassing [number]Lifesteal Quintessences[/number]: A bit more lane sustain (a viable option)

[title]Skills[/title] [title][img=skills/caitlyn/p.png] Passive: Headshot[/title] Headshot (Innate): Every 8th / 7th / 6th basic attack is enhanced to be a headshot, dealing 150% damage to a champion or 250% damage to a minion or monster. Attacks from brush increase the attack counter by two instead of one. [title]Explanation:[/title] Caitlyn's passive is not the strongest nor the weakest in the game, and can be used very effectively to poke your opponents if they aren't paying attention for some serious damage. This also synergizes with crit for some huge damage with IE. [title][img=skills/caitlyn/q.png] Q: Piltover Peacemaker[/title] Piltover Peacemaker (Active): Caitlyn revs up her rifle for 1 second to unleash a penetrating shot which deals physical damage to targets in a line, it deals 10% less damage to subsequent targets, down to a minimum of 50% damage. Range: 1300 Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 mana Cooldown: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 seconds Physical Damage: 20 / 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 (+1.3 per attack damage) [title]Explanation:[/title] This is Caitlyn's bread and butter poke spell, and provides some nice wave clear to help you push and can help you get early towers to give your team global gold. You can use this for free damage if they step on a trap. [title][img=skills/caitlyn/w.png] W: Yordle Snap Trap[/title] Yordle Snap Trap (Active): Caitlyn sets up to three traps which trigger on champions. When sprung, the trap immobilizes the champion, deals magic damage over 1.5 seconds and reveals the target for 9 seconds. Traps last 4 minutes. Cost: 50 mana Placement Range: 800 Activation Range: 150 Cooldown: 20 / 17 / 14 / 11 / 8 seconds Magical Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+0.6 per ability power) [title]Explanation:[/title] Really useful utility to reveal brush, and stun/zone enemies. This spell seperates great Caitlyn players from average Caitlyn players, look for some zoning strategies and effective trapping methods in the Tips & Tricks section. [title][img=skills/caitlyn/e.png] E: 90 Caliber Net[/title] 90 Caliber Net (Active): Caitlyn fires a heavy net to slow down her target by 50% and deal magic damage. The recoil knocks Caitlyn back. Cost: 75 mana Range: 800 Knockback Distance: 400 Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds Magical Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+0.8 per ability power) Duration: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds [title]Explanation:[/title] A very effective escape tool and pairs with Piltover Peacemaker for some good harass in lane. Can be hard to get used to because of how it works mechanically. Can be used to jump out of Jarvan Ultimate and over small walls. Look for more on this in Tips and Tricks [title][img=skills/caitlyn/r.png] R: Ace in the Hole[/title] Ace in the Hole (Active): Caitlyn takes time to line up the perfect shot, dealing massive damage to a single target at a huge range. Enemy champions can intercept the bullet for their ally. It provides vision of the target for the duration. Cost: 100 mana Projectile Speed: 3200 Cooldown: 90 / 75 / 60 seconds Physical Damage: 250 / 475 / 700 (+2.0 per bonus attack damage) Range: 2000 / 2500 / 3000 [title]Explanation:[/title] A very nice ultimate that can execute the opponent that thought they got away, also some good harass and damage, but sadly can be avoided by a tank block, Zhonya's, and some champion spells. Can be used to harass your opponent in lane for guaranteed damage as well. Scales well and does a ton of damage, especially on squishies. [title]Skill order[/title] Start with 1 Point in W for early game vision and lane/brush control, then follow: R>Q>W>E I follow this because the scaling damage on your Q helps your lane harass and pushing power while the other spells are just utility. I max W second because it lowers the cooldown and I feel it has more utility than E because it is a stun. You will want a point in each skill by level 3.

[title] Early Game (Start to 15 min)[/title] [img=items/dorans-blade.png] Health, Damage, and Sustain, This is the Early Game king. I dont pick up more than 2 of these because it stalls late game too much. Getting two of these ensures lane dominance when you are ahead, or can help you salvage a lane due to an early gank, or a feeding support. [img=items/vampiric-scepter.png] Core item to get ASAP, this will build into your Bloodthirster can't go wrong with getting this early for the sustain. [img=items/boots-of-speed.png] Build these early if you need mobility to dodge skillshots or if you have some extra money. [img=items/avarice-blade.png] Some nice crit, and passive Gold gain, get this if you are going to build Stattik Shiv. [img=items/bf-sword.png] Get this bad boy if you get some early kills and are CSing very well! This will give you serious lane power if you get it early enough and you will begin to stomp your opponent if they don't have one as well. [img=items/pickaxe.png] Build this for some early power, generally I only get this if I am going to rush Infinity Edge [title] Deciding between Core Items [/title] Rushing Infinity Edge vs. Bloodthirster Both of these are a good choice, and building one or the other just depends on personal preference in some cases, but also whether you are ahead or behind during and shortly after laning phase. [img=items/the-bloodthirster.png] I like to rush this when I am ahead and move immediately into Zeal. I do this when I am ahead because the extra AD really helps you in lane as it scales with your Q and Ultimate. This item also provides a lot of sustain which helps keep you alive in mid-game fights. A safer choice in most cases, but deals less damage than Infinity Edge. [img=items/infinity-edge.png] This item is good when ahead or behind, but is a must when you are behind. If your opponent is ahead and went Bloodthirster they will more than likely almost have zeal. This item can help close the gap in damage difference because you can have this when they have Bloodthirster and Zeal. While you will not deal as much damage, it will be alot more than Bloodthirster alone due to its passive and Critical Strike Chance. Stattik Shiv Vs. Phantom Dancer [img=items/statikk-shiv.png] Better midgame due to its passive which deals AoE damage, while having a chance to critical strike. This item is also superior for split pushing and builds out of an item that generates gold on last hit, definitely a good investment. Build this if you are a little behind mid game and are trying to get some better mid game damage to carry your team, or if you are ahead early and want to force fights and snowball to victory. [img=items/phantom-dancer.png] Better late game single target you lose a little movement speed, but gain 10% Crit, 10% Atk Speed, & the ability to move through units. You can build this if you are behind and there is a tank like [imgsmall=champ/darius.png] wrecking your team and you need some single target damage to end his spree. [img=items/last-whisper.png] Get this when your opponents start building armor (when 2 people have at least 85), if they don't build armor, grab Bloodthirster or Infinity Edge depending on what you built earlier on. [title]Defensive Items[/title] [img=items/banshees-veil.png] The magic resist, health, and mana are all very useful when going this route, but I normally only build this item if they have a hard engage, like [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] or [imgsmall=champ/malphite.png]. [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png]/[img=items/mercurial-scimitar.png] You can build this if they have a suppression from[imgsmall=champ/warwick.png] or [imgsmall=champ/skarner.png] this tends to be a bit more glass cannon as you sacrifice some durability, but gives you another cleanse and more damage. It's also pretty expensive though. [img=items/frozen-mallet.png] I get this for the kiting capability, extra health for durability, and the extra AD. [img=items/warmogs-armor.png] This is good for the extra health and durability, I build this sometimes mid game if I need more durability because it is cheaper than Mallet and when it is hard for me to kite the opposing team because they have so many dives and I'm not getting peels. [img=items/randuins-omen.png] This is also a really good choice to build out of giants belt, it lets you duel the opposing ADC and gives you a self peel for champions who like to dive you and rely on Attack speed like [imgsmall=champ/irelia.png] or [imgsmall=champ/jax.png] [img=items/guardian-angel.png] Even though they nerfed the stats on this, the passive revive on this item is still extremely strong, but in many cases you just die immediately after it is popped, which is why I normally opt to build something else. [title]Boot Enchantments[/title] [img=items/berserkers-greaves.png] Standard AD boots, I usually upgrade these when laning phase ends for the Atk speed and mobility to other lanes and positioning for team fights. In addition Season 3 has brought us to boot enchantments which are all very useful for different situations. [img=items/enchantment-alacrity.png] This is viable because it gives you movementspeed. Not much else to be said here. [img=items/enchantment-distortion.png] Reduced cooldown on flash is very useful as having flash can determine whether you win a teamfight. [img=items/enchantment-homeguard.png] Very very useful if you are behind and can easily turn games around. Get this if your team is behind, this enchant is OP gives insane movement speed, I won't be surprised if they nerf it at some point. [img=items/enchantment-furor.png] This boot enchant is extremely useful for kiting, I get this after I get the 1st tier of my Defensive Item, and before i get my last item. Again this is very situational and varies from game to game, but that is generally how it goes. [img=items/enchantment-captain.png] Good for support, doesn't fit the ADC role. [title]Other Viable Offensive Options (Somewhat situational)[/title] [img=items/runaans-hurricane.png] Get this as your last item, if you are untouchable by the other team and don't want to get a defense item, the Attack Speed helps your passive, and the AoE bolts do immense damage, really cool, fun, item. [img=items/blade-of-the-ruined-king.png] This item was OP until they nerfed it, still really good against health stack, a really nice active, but not worth rushing like it used to be. This is just my opinion, because they made armor reduce the damage on this item it is just not as effective as it used to be. Still very good on short range ADs for the active movement speed sap. [img=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png] Get this whenever you expect a big fight and have the gold. Also a viable start with some health pots, haven't tested it much, will add more once I have done so.

[title]Laning Phase[/title] This is where you shine as Cait with the highest base range. The most important thing to do early game is farm! Too many people try to harass early game and miss out on tons of CS, look to trade when it is beneficial for you. Laning Tips: [.]Zone the other support and AD with traps in their brush [.]Brush control is vital for Cait because of the 2 things stated above [.]Take double golems for early level 2, as soon as you hit level 2 (before your enemy) play aggressively, this could net you a kill, or just some good harass which forces a recall or a number of health pots [.]Zone whenever possible with Caits superior range [.]NET SOME KILLS n ACE em IN THE HOLE When to Harass in laning phase: [.]You have Headshot [.]They step on a trap [.]There are no creeps to last hit and the opponent steps into range. [.]If your support lands a spell and it doesn't require you facechecking brush or the enemy support If you think you can net a kill with your supports help in lane, it is very important to asses who the jungler and mid laner on the opposing team are, and where they are on the map. You must do this to make sure you can get a clean kill, there is nothing worse than going deep for a kill, and a wild [imgsmall=champ/twistedfate.png] or [imgsmall=champ/nocturne.png] appearing in your lane to not only starve you of your kill, but net themselves a kill because you overextended without checking the map. Making these decisions carefully in laning phase will change the direction of the snowball of the game. The last thing you want is the mid or jungle getting kills and assists along with the opposing ADC. [title]Supports and Synergies[/title] I picked Cait, which support should my duo Q partner take? Or which support should I recommend the person supporting play? ALL SUPPORTS WORK WELL WITH CAIT, they just have advantages and disadvantages. My Favorite Synergies: Ranked from [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] [img=champ/nunu.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] This guys attk speed buff gives you more headshots, especially if you are fighting from brush. Nunu is great because of Blood Boil, even after the nerf, this spell grants movement speed and compliments your range early game as you can poke and move away from your opponent. His iceball also slows making it much easier to land your Q. His ult and snowball will slow your opponents Attack Speed to a crawl which gives him excellent peel. [img=champ/taric.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] Taric is my second favorite, he has a reliable stun, and crazy burst damage between the two of you. When he stuns the opposing ADC, make sure you trap right under them, and follow up with a nice Q for some nice damage in lane. [img=champ/sona.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] She has poke, she has a heal, she has an AoE stun, she gives armor magic resist and movement speed to your team, what else could you possibly want from a support? Shes just a solid pick as support, shes a little squishy early, just make sure you help her play accordingly. [img=champ/leona.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] Great for a kill lane, if she lands her combo on the opponent, they are usually dead after 6. The CC you two have is immense and allows for you to make some great plays during the laning phase. Play off of her engages provided they aren't so deep you die instead of getting a kill. [img=champ/thresh.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] This guy is pretty broken overall right now, he gives you the ability to overextend with his lantern, he has a slow that might as well be a stun and has displacement with his flay ability, this makes him the ultimate peeler and initiator, hes kinda like blitz on steroids if you ask me. OP [img=champ/alistar.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] This honestly depends on the skill level, aggressive Alistar who knows how to play bottom will snowball you out of control, but if hes not the best he is a great babysitter and heal bot. When he combos shoot your Q and cut off their escape with a good trap and you should be able to get a kill if you land these with some AAs. I love having this guy on my team. [img=champ/zyra.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] She does tons of damage and has a snare and is considered to be the best anti-dive champion, she helps you poke when she lands her snare and has some massive zoning power with her plants, slow, and knockup. When she lands a snare, you can drop a trap and Q or just some auto attacks. Zyra played right is excellent at winning bottom lane. [img=champ/lulu.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] Good Lulu's are hard to come by, but when you are paired with one, she is amazing. This lane will give you some serious poke, go for extended engages when paired with her, as all in isn't really her style unless they get caught way out of position. If she gets a slow off with Q you can hit them for a ton of damage with AAs. She brings great utility with he polymorphs, shields, movementspeed buffs, and her God-mode ultimate with a knock-up. If she lands her slow and you have the opportunity, land Q for a good trade if you are in position. [img=champ/blitzcrank.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] He would be my absolute favorite support for a great kill lane because he can grab onto your traps or you can trap under his grab. You can also wait for a grab and then trap, this will lock them down and ensure a kill. Don't forget to launch a Q if he gets a good grab. Tip: Be careful when he misses a grab, if you aren't careful the other team will play aggressive and win the trade. [img=champ/janna.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] she is a great peeler, gives you more AD, but usually requires you to play more passively in lane, and make plays on your own. Abuse the shield and its cooldown, make sure you learn this and know when it is going to come so you can make plays while taking little damage. Try and get an early [imgsmall=items/vampiric-scepter.png] with her for the sustain. When harassing try and tell her to shield you when you have headshot up and poke the opposition with some serious damage. [img=champ/nami.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] I'm not sure how I feel about her yet, but mostly I feel like she is a worse version of Sona, still a viable support though, can definitely make plays with her bubble and ultimate and do some nice poke damage. When you go to poke, ask her to give you the AD steroid and slow to get some more AAs in. If she lands her bubble, do the classic trap and Q combo. [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] This guy is a suprisingly good support with poke, and cc. At 6 if the opposing team doesn't have brush control, they are in for a surprise party which will get you some kills. This is definitely a kill lane and works well with Cait because of her range. Fid is kinda of weak to lane pressure so your range can help make up for it. [img=champ/soraka.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] Not my personal favorite, but you can make it work with your range and great farm-ability, wait for the opponent to take too much poke and overextend and slowly wear down the lane to secure kills with a Soraka. When Soraka hits 6 most people underestimate or totally forget about her ultimate which gives you a nice heal, try and use that to bait out a fight if you think you can win. [img=champ/lux.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] She actually works well with Cait and can be a good support if the player can land bindings. When she lands a binding drop a trap and a Q on them, and an AA or two, and if Lux hits her ult, it could net you a kill at 6. [img=champ/karma.png] - [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] Don't have a lot of experiencing playing Cait with Karma. She does have some good harass and a heal, so that is nice. The slow can we useful as well. With her as support I would just play based on how she is playing, if she plays aggressive go aggressive. Poke when you see opportunities to. [title]Note:[/title] Caitlyn can also work with an unconventional support as well because she can always farm with her superior range, it is Solo Q and the best thing you can do is not rage at your support and play to the best of your ability. I've seen [imgsmall=champ/annie.png] [imgsmall=champ/anivia.png] [imgsmall=champ/leblanc.png] all played well and won games with them so keep that in mind. I have even won a ranked match where I had double jungle and had to solo bot, if this happens to you buy some wards and try and hold your tower for as long as you can and hope the jungle ganks, use your range and traps to your advantage.

[title]Lane Matchups [/title] [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] - Easy [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] - Hard [title]ADC Matchups[/title] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/missfortune.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]Abuse your range [.]Don't trade, just poke, abuse [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/q.png] combo when you can [.]She's weak to ganks, call for them. She can be a serious lane bully, she does a lot of damage early game and trades really well with Double Up. However, you severely outrange her, MF has a base range of 550 so this lane shouldn't be too hard. You are more mobile her in every stage of the game, and have very similar damage if your team doesn't group and pitch a tent in her ultimate. Very winnable lane. She is very weak against assassins and dives because she has no natural escape, so let your team know in champion select! Be aware when she is paired with [imgsmall=champ/leona.png] [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] and [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] as she will be looking to play aggressive with these guys. If you get grabbed or stunned by these champions you will get bursted down. Once you've poked her down enough or outfarmed/zoned her enough, then look to get a kill. Be patient, don't let her get early kills or it will make it much harder. She relies on early advantage and snowball. Don't forget: because you can hit her so easily, you can remove her passive very easily. Good supports when facing Miss Fortune: [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] [imgsmall=champ/leona.png] [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/ashe.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]DON'T GET CRIT LEVEL 1! [.]Use creeps to block volley, this is how she trades [.]Get [imgsmall=summoners/cleanse.png] so you don't get arrow sniped and owned mid game [.]Call for ganks, she has no escape [.]Ashe has surprisingly good scaling, play aggressive early This is a pretty simple match-up, Ashe is pretty weak early, but scales really well into late game. Be aware of Arrow into jungle ganks, if you get hit or slowed with the jungler nearby it could mean death. Abuse the long volley cool down early to force trades. Because she can ignore most of your poke, you have to rely on AA and [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/p.png] to harass. Good supports when facing Sivir: [imgsmall=champ/janna.png] [imgsmall=champ/nunu.png] (They buff your auto attacks which is all your damage against her) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/draven.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] This guy is terror in lane. Keys to winning: [.]Don't trade [.]Poke as much as possible. [.][imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/w.png] the middle of the lane constantly [.]You can see where he is running to catch his axe, try to catch him off guard and hit him when he runs to catch his axe [.]Call for ganks, farm, wait for mid late game and have your team focus him. [.]He is only very strong if he snowballs hard early, so don't let him. [.]Try and keep the lane even, this means your creeps in between your tower and his. You are better late game in my opinion, you have mobility, and your steroid doesn't rely on running to a specific position. Any sort of assassin is good against him so if your team can play champions that dive tell them its a good idea in champion select. Good supports when facing Draven: [imgsmall=champ/leona.png] [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/ezreal.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]Dodge Q by staying by minions [.]Abuse your far superior range for free AAs when he goes to CS [.]Avoid all ins if he is 6 and you've taken damage Other than that those are the tips I have for Ezreal, if you dodge mystic shot his damage goes way down. This matchup depends on his skill and if he knows how to play this matchup. If you take free Q damage from him too much it can be problematic. Overall a pretty easy lane if you dont get caught out due to you severely outranging him. Good supports when facing Ezreal: [imgsmall=champ/nunu.png] [imgsmall=champ/sona.png] [imgsmall=champ/janna.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/graves.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]As with other match ups Abuse range [.]The best 1v1 ADC in many ways because of his kit, so avoid all out fights. [.]Poke him down or wait for his Q cool down (12/11/10/9/8 secs) and Ult cool down (100/90/80 secs)to fight [.]Or fight him when he is out of mana [.]He will probably try to all in fight you, try to dodge his ult or disengage This one can be tricky because he pretty much outdamages you for most of the game, he has a really nice kit too and is somewhat mobile. I usually play this matchup and look for an opportunity in lane as listed above, or wait for him to make a mistake. His mid-game damage is really strong because he's a ranged AD caster type champion, keep this in mind if you are going to fight for dragon or another objective and you don't have a huge advantage. Good supports when facing Graves : [imgsmall=champ/lulu.png] [imgsmall=champ/alistar.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/kogmaw.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]Trade only when his W is down, you can either hear when he has activated it, or his eyes change color, look for this. [.]PUSH, he is weak against push [.]Get an early lead keeping these things in mind, or he will destroy you in lane levels 6-12 and your team late game. [.]He has no escape so call for ganks. [.]He falls behind easy. This guy is a pain for Cait because he has more range with his W and his damage is one of the highest in the game, so you have to play this lane very carefully. If you go even in farm he will outdamage you, so this forces you to play aggressively but you have to be careful. He is very easy to snowball off of if you play correctly, but its tricky. He is weak vs. aggressive supports. Good supports when facing Kog: [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] [imgsmall=champ/leona.png] [imgsmall=champ/thresh.png] or [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/quinn.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] I don't know a ton about her, but this is what I've figured out so far. Keys to winning: [.]Abuse your range [.]Keep your distance, her E AA combo does a lot of damage [.]She is a good at short trades [.]Dodge the blind I will add more about this as I am matched up with her more, but I feel like its a pretty easy lane for Cait because she doesn't have anything you don't. Plus you have more range. I also feel like Quinn has a very weak teamfight because her ult isn't very good because it puts her in harms way to do damage. She is a good duelist in lane, remember that. Any support does well against her really. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/tristana.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]Care for her early game burst damage when she jumps in on you [.]Her mid game sucks, so get objectives and fight her then [.]Outfarm her and try to win before late game because she gets strong late. Trist can be scary early game, but has the worst mid-game out of any of the ADCs. Use this to your advantage. Good supports when facing Trist: [imgsmall=champ/alistar.png] [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/twitch.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]Own him early, he is weak to poke [.]Dodge the cask, or don't let him auto and the Expunge you this will do some good burst damage [.]Auto him just about whenever you like when he goes in to last hit This lane isn't very hard because his range is very low til he is 6. Just keep the tips above in mind and you should have no problem and can deny him. Sometimes he will run [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] and can own you at level 2 if you aren't careful and he is 2 before you. Good supports when facing Twitch: [imgsmall=champ/lulu.png] [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] [imgsmall=champ/sona.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/urgot.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Not popular, but strong nonetheless Keys to winning: [.]Dodge his E or you'll get chunked [.]Try to poke him early as his mid-game is really strong [.]Force a fight early as he is weak level 1 or 2 [.]If he misses E go in on him because he can't do much to you Really he shines during his mid game, so fight early or stall for late game. You will severly outdamage him at both of these points. So choose what you are going to do and play based on that. Usually in Solo Q you want to try and snowball as early as you can because your team will probably feed before end game. Good supports when facing Urgot: [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/varus.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Keys to winning: [.]Outpoke [.]Pay attention to if you get blight stacks, and bait or dodge his E, its how he trades [.]Dodge the worm (his ultimate) with [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/e.png] [.]He relies on short bursts of trades to win, so try to avoid that and go for short lengthened type engages [.]No escape, call for ganks. This one can be tricky, just be smart abuse when you see him using cooldowns and outpoke him. Most supports work well against him, [imgsmall=champ/sona.png] can be really nice cuz she just heals you up if you make a mistake in trade. This will give you the advantage in the battle of who gets worn down first you will be fighting here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/vayne.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] EASY PEEZ Keys to winning: [.]Win early, she cant do anything to you early [.]Get those free autos early [.]Don't let her farm [.]Back out if you get 2 stacks of silver bolts Vayne is a short range hyper-carry, dont let her farm and you will win the game. Her range is terrible so denying her will be easy. When you get her under her tower, hit her with [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/q.png] and continue to auto her while dodging tower aggro. Any support will help you dunk her other than [imgsmall=champ/soraka.png] cuz shes pretty passive for the most part. [title]Support Matchups[/title] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/alistar.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] When he goes to combo you, just [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/e.png] away. Get brush control with traps and wards. Auto him as much as possible if he likes to get too close. Not too hard because you can easily dodge his Pulv. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/blitzcrank.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] for you. [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] for you team because they can never dodge grabs when they need to. BAN HIM AT MOST ELOS CUZ PEOPLE LOVE GETTING GRABBED TO THROW THE GAME GET BRUSH CONTROL. This is mostly for your supports sake, you can dodge grabs easily with [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/e.png]. But there is nothing worse than your support feeding the opposing AD because they get grabbed over and over. If he misses a grab or gets too close just punish him. Not to hard for you provided your support doesn't love getting hooked. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/fiddlesticks.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] He's squishy, so just AA him whenever he gets too close to you. Care for 6, thats really all I can say about him. He sucks vs [imgsmall=champ/leona.png] because you can just own him with her due to his squishiness. Keep brush control. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/janna.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Usually she is pretty passive, try to hit her ADC when her shield is on CD. Try to bait out the shield and poke her when she gets close to you. Overall pretty simple to lane against. She doesn't do great against hard engage like [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] or [imgsmall=champ/thresh.png]. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/lulu.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Could be easier level, just depends on her skill. Shes just really freaking annoying. She is good at poking and zoning. I like [imgsmall=champ/sona.png] here cuz she can heal the poke, and also has poke of her own. This makes it easier for you to come out ahead in short trades. Don't forget about her ult granting health. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/nami.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] She is squishy, dodge her bubble and you will destroy her. I've seen some people run a lot of AP and they are very easy to shred because of her low armor early on. Pretty easy to face honestly unless you get bubbled a lot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/leona.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Not really too hard, but can be more difficult. Just play smart and E away when she tries to engage, this counters her pretty well. Just keep an eye on your cooldowns to make sure you can escape her. She is weak if you poke her so do what you do best and you should be ok. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/nunu.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] Annoying. You will kinda need your supports help to keep him from snowballing you over and over. Try to poke him when he comes in. He is a real terror if your support just stands and watches without trading. Get some help to make things easier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/sona.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] She doesn't pose much of a threat. She is weak vs. aggressive supports. She is really squishy early so if you can poke her out of mana or burst her down, do it. Pretty simple and normal lane when you are vs. her. [imgsmall=champ/leona.png] and [imgsmall=champ/blitzcrank.png] are good picks against her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/soraka.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] She's basically a heal bot, pressure her and her ADC constantly, ask your support to do the same. Her ult can be underestimated so keep that in mind. Really pretty simple lane. She's not scary. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/taric.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] One of the most annoying, supports there is. [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/e.png] away when he stuns, try and poke him when you can if he gets close. His armor buff is like stupid annoying. If you play bottom you know what to expect from this guy, high burst, and a stun. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [img=champ/thresh.png] - [imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png][imgsmall=items/the-bloodthirster.png] OP ATM. He has a good engage and does some crazy damage. Don't walk through his wall, poke him when he goes for souls so he hast to use his lantern. His hook is pretty easy to dodge. Get brush control so he can't snipe you or your support. He will still be really annoying for you and your team. I always secretly hope my team will pick him. [imgsmall=champ/taric.png] is a good support choice here because you can burst him or his AD and force them back. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video Commentaries coming soon!

So we've gone over a some laning strategies, what do when the laning phase is over. I am going to present 2 scenarios when ahead and when behind. Generally, laning phase is over when towers begin following, this isnt always the case, but if towers fall, map pressure is often going to change. This is usually around 20 minuts. [title]When Ahead Mid-Game[/title] Objectives: [.]FARM [.]Help your team secure (Dragon, Buffs, Towers) [.]Take an objective after you secure a kill If you are already ahead, it is very important to focus on these things, and not get caught. Getting caught as an ADC is the worst possible thing you can do. Help your team ward up, and get map control. This means push lanes out, make sure your buffs and dragon are secured, and ward baron. You are Caitlyn, you are really good at trapping and forcing dragon fights as well as shredding dragon if you have your bloodthirster zeal combo. Look for other players to make mistakes. This could include seeing them alone in a lane for an easy kill, or out of position somewhere on the map which gives your team a free tower or dragon. If you do get a kill and your team is healthy, make sure you capitalize on it by taking towers or buffs. Use your range, mobility, and advantage from lane to try and secure the game at this point. As Caitlyn has a pretty good mid game. You are a good pusher and can poke down towers easily even at this stage with your good range. It's not as good as say Graves or Vayne, but good nonetheless. Also be aware of casters during this phase of the game as they do a lot of damage. The worst thing you can do mid-game coming out of your lane with a lead is get caught out of position, this is imperative in keeping your lead. [title]When Behind Mid-Game[/title] Objectives: [.]Farm [.]Ward [.]Stall (Defend towers) [.]Look for mistakes to capitalize on This is really all you can do if you come out behind, but this also depends on how far behind you are. You have to gauge this, but the main thing to look out for is mistakes by the enemy team to capitalize on. This ranges from a carry being way out of position on the other team, or them choosing to fight dragon when very low. It can also be a bad tower dive on their part as well, or going for Baron. If they go for a Baron too early, even if you are very far behind your team can normally stop it. So if you are behind, look for a mistake and try to capitalize on it while you defend your towers and try to keep your buffs. Part of this is also learning when to give towers/dragons up as well.

Late game is when you shine as ADC, but it also the most imperative stage of the game. You should be close to finishing up your build at this point. ~30 min. Late Game Objectives: [.]Teamfight [.]Look to get Inhibitors and Towers [.]Don't Die [.]Get Baron Control [.]Secure Baron Buff [.]End Game In this phase of the game you should be helping your team do all these things. Make sure you are grouped up with your team, this is vital in this phase of the game to close out the game. Ideally your support will have oracles and your lanes will be pushed out so you can get vision/control of Baron buff. You contribute to this with your traps because they help see when people are coming and going. You can use this to bait fights that will be advantageous to you. You can also group to take towers because you are Caitlyn and have long range to poke towers/inhibitors. If you or your team gets kills during this phase it usually means Baron, or an inhibitor. This greatly increases your chances of winning. On the flip side if you are caught or die, it can result in you losing the game.

Teamfighting as an ADC can be tricky, but normally boils down to you ATTACKING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, this means you will be predominantly attacking tanks. I cannot stress how important it is for you to Auto Attack as much as possible. Use your mobility with your 90 Cal shot (E) and your traps to escape and snare diving champions. This will give you distance to continue your barrage of attacks. Also your E is very effective to dodge skillshots if you time it correctly. Because Caitlyn has one of the highest ranges late game you have an advantage and can attack a lot. In addition, traps are also extremely useful to follow up other forms of CC to lock down targets, look to do this during fights. You should have 2 traps out on the map that have an opportunity to catch people, and 1 available for the teamfight to help peel for yourself. Also when fighting try to use brush to your advantage as they make your headshot steroid proc every three shots instead of six. It is also important to stick towards the back in teamfights and stay out of range of the enemy's stuns and cooldowns so you do not get focused down. Don't forget your ultimate, execute squishies as they try to flee when they are low from a fight. Try to fight when you have your summoner spells, especially if you have Cleanse, this can make or break a teamfight for you and your team and result in victory. Summary: [.]Play safe, attack what you can, when you can [.]Don't DIE [.]Stick with your team [.]Help yourself with good [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/w.png] and [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/e.png] [.]Cleanup Stragglers with [imgsmall=skills/caitlyn/r.png] [.]Auto Attack Beware of burst casters: [imgsmall=champ/annie.png] [imgsmall=champ/fizz.png] [imgsmall=champ/akali.png] [imgsmall=champ/kassadin.png] [imgsmall=champ/malzahar.png] [imgsmall=champ/leblanc.png] AND Assasins like: [imgsmall=champ/jax.png] [imgsmall=champ/irelia.png] [imgsmall=champ/nocturne.png] [imgsmall=champ/poppy.png] [imgsmall=champ/riven.png] These guys will all want to kill you and will succeed if you don't use your range to your advantage, so remember this when fighting, and goodluck!

[title]Communication[/title] At champion select communicate with your team what you are good at and what you aren't good at. Try to learn at least a few champions that can either lane or jungle in different places. BE A LEADER, MAKE PINGS AND CALLS IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT Don't rage, it seems obvious because riot posts it everywhere. But if you flame your teammates it will significantly decrease your chances of winning and sometimes causes people to quit. I put this first because it is vital, and is one of the easiest things to fix. If you think you have a bad attitude work on changing it, and move forward with each game. This is one thing that helped me climb as much as I did. I went from flaming and blaming my opponents to looking at all the mistakes I made, and how I could have played better to change the tide of the game. [title] Learn how to lane, and win it![/title] This seems obvious but this is the key to Solo Q success, if you lose lane frequently, you will lose games. This comes with learning matchups and playing games. Knowing whos stronger at what level with which items. I can't answer it all for you here because there is too much information, but to win lane it predominantly takes playing to your champions strengths and the others weaknesses. Some lane dynamics to work on are FREEZING and Pushing When to Freeze and how: [.]Freeze whenever you can effectively zone the other champion from last hitting [.]This is normally accomplished by forcing the creep wave to stay closer to your tower, this will cause them to overextend I will put some picture diagrams up shortly as I am working on making them. Pushing them makes it easier to poke them because they are focusing on last hitting under tower, and relieves map pressure for your other lanes because you can force the jungler to come to you. When to push: [.]When you are ahead and want to push an advantage (Don't do it for too long and get ganked) [.]When your team is preparing for a dragon or objective Remember pushing is dangerous sometimes, if you get killed all the advantage you gained can easily be lost for free objectives. This takes good map awareness and wards. [title] Don't give up [/title] I've come back from games with a 10-15 kill deficit. There is always a chance for the other team to make a mistake, when the mistake comes, lead your team to take objectives and help you get back into the game. Sometimes you can slowly crawl back in, or sometimes you can steal Baron for the ACE and win. [highlight]Stalling[/highlight] Stalling can be difficult to master but is very important if you want to win the majority of your solo Q games. This is the case because you will often end laning phase behind. When stalling, help your team ward Baron and Dragon, and farm as much as you can. Normally you want to try and bait a stupid tower dive by the opposition that will turn the game around. This stops working when you get higher elo, but more often in lower elo the opposing team gets over confident and will throw the game back to you, just make sure you don't make the same mistake. You have to know when to give certain things up like Dragon, Baron, and Inhibs. This takes practice, but the game isnt over when you give 1 or more of these up. It all depends, but really boils down to experience. Many times my team has successfully stalled a game and has begun to crawl back, and then 1 teammate will get caught and then we choose to defend an inhib we should give up and then lose the game. This even happens to the highest elo players. So try and learn when to give things up. [title]Don't Play STUPID or OVERCONFIDENT[/title] This is important because I see people play this way all the time and punish them. ESPECIALLY if you are ahead. There is nothing worse than someone being so overconfident they fight 1v3 and force your team to lose an objective [.]Know when to back [.]Don't overextend and get caught IF you don't back when you need to, many times you will lose all the advantage gained. If you push for that extra tower and the opposing team catches your team to Ace them and take an extra tower. This is just one example of that. Sometimes these can result in Free Barons. [title]PRACTICE[/title] Like anything this game takes practice. It takes a long time to learn how champions work, when you can force baron, when you can't, and how to play to the strengths of your team comp. The most important thing you need to do to win is practice, but more importantly make sure your practice isn't in vain. This means that you are actively learning and figuring out what you should have done against X champion at this point in the game. This is imperative, but good luck!
