[title]Marks/Quints:[/title] For marks and quints I take spell penetration. This is definitely important because some of Vlad's early items are very important to his build and you don't usually get to pick up Void Staff until late game if you even get to build it at all. Some people say to take AP quints but I disagree because if the person you are laning against takes any MR then your quints are basically useless. These Spell Pen Quints allow you to have an important stat for your character a bit earlier than you would normally be able to. [title]Seals:[/title] More health allows you to sustain even more. You can stay out longer in the lane and take more damage in fights. Thanks to Vlad's passive you will be able to take AND deal more damage with these because the HP converts to AP. [title]Glyphs:[/title] Cooldown reduction runes. These are the most important. I go flat cooldown reduction instead of per level because it makes such a huge difference early game in the laning phase. With these runes and your item build you will get up to 40% cooldown reduction allowing you to basically spam your abilities doing tons of damage and healing yourself at the same time. Your cooldowns are fairly long early level so the flat CDR is a lot better than per level.

[title]Skills:[/title] (Hover over them for their description) [.][img=skills/vladimir/p.png] [title]Crimson Pact[/title] Vladimir's passive is pretty self explanatory. You get 1 AP for every 40 HP and 2 HP for every 1 AP (doesn't stack) making your vitality seals even better and allowing you to be stronger early game. It also works very well with all of your item choices. Full build this passive will allow you to be close to 4k HP and 400AP. [.][img=skills/vladimir/q.png] [title]Transfusion[/title] Vladimir's main ability and the first one you will be maxing out. This is the ability you will use to harass and is the one that makes him such a strong champion. Transfusion will not only deal a lot of damage, but heal you as well. It allows you to stay out in the lane longer than most champions because you can heal yourself back up on minions (or by harassing) and absorb a lot of damage in team fights. With the runes and item build in this guide this ability will be almost spamable late game. [.][img=skills/vladimir/w.png] [title]Sanguine Pool[/title] Pool is also great. This will allow you to tower dive for kills early game as well as get away from ganks from their jungler very easily. Be careful when you use this early game because the cooldown will still be very long and if you don't have flash up and you use this prematurely you could be in for a lot of trouble. This also allows you to be very aggressive in lane and even better in team fights. After you unleash your combo use pool to slow the enemy while your cooldowns come back up. In team fights use it to slow the entire enemy team while yours continues to dps them. You can also use it to help teammates escape from ganks. You can overextend a lot more than other champions with this and flash, but I don't recommend it. Obviously you don't want to have to waste your flash and Vlad is terrible at pushing towers anyway. Be aggressive with this if you can, but if you are out further than you should be without wards it might be best saved to escape. [.][img=skills/vladimir/e.png] [title]Tides of Blood[/title] Vlad's AOE. Be careful when you use this at lower levels because of the amount of damage it does to you. If you get too many stacks of it at lower level you can definitely deal some damage to yourself and you don't want to get burst down before you get a chance to heal it back up. Tides works perfectly with the slow effect from Rylai's, allowing you to slow several champs in a team fight just to pool slowing them all over again. Once you get a bit more tanky or are in team fights, having multiple stacks of this can really start to hurt them and the bonus healing you get from it makes the damage it does to you late game hard to notice as well. This is what you will be using to clear out minion waves mid to late game when cleaning up a lane etc. If you are low health and trying to heal yourself back up on minions obviously don't use this in the process. [.][img=skills/vladimir/r.png] [title]Hemoplague[/title] Hemoplague increases the damage taken on everyone it hits for 5 seconds. You will always want to open with this in team fights. Try to hit as many of them with it as possible, especially your focus (usually their carry.) Use this as early as possible in the team fights because you want it down before all of your teammates attacks go off so they do the max amount of damage possible. It also pairs perfectly with ignite, doing quite a bit of damage between the two. [title]Leveling Order:[/title] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] Max this first, taking it every time it is up (except at level 3, or when you can level your ult) [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] Max this second but waiting until level 3 to pick it up. You want to have one point in pool before this in case you need to use it to escape or slow the enemy champion. [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] Take one point of this at level two (Unless you are ganking at level one before laning starts, then take it FIRST) and don't level it again until it is the only option. [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] Obviously level this every time you can. A normal ability order for a 1v1 fight would be: [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png]

Vlad needs a solo lane. Always go mid or solo top with Vlad. I prefer to go mid because then I can help with ganks to top/bot as well as help protect dragon. It also seems like Mid gets ganked more often in the games I play and Vlad can get away from ganks more easily than almost any other character. You want to start with: [img=items/boots-of-speed.png][img=items/health-potion3.png] You should be able to farm pretty easily with Vlad in mid. Always harass with [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png], and last hit with auto attack if you can. If you are harassing with [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] almost every time it's up then you will most likely be putting enough pressure on them to zone them and get all of your last hits in fairly easily. However, you don't want to harass at all if you can't do it without it being a 1 hit for 1 hit trade... Farming is the priority so if you can't harass without missing out on last hits then don't. Don't overextend unless you (or your jungler) have warded. You don't want to have to waste your flash.

Once you have [img=items/ionian-boots-of-lucidity.png][img=items/hextech-revolver.png][img=items/spirit-visage.png] and are level 8-9 you should have a kill or two already. If you don't it should be pretty easy to at this point. Open with [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] followed by [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png][imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png][imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png][imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] and by the time you come out of pool your [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] should be up again if necessary, but usally that will have killed them. Any opportunity you get when your lane is pushed or you have killed their champion ask Top/Bot if they need a gank. Always open with your [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] especially in team fights because it increases everyone's damage.

Throughout the whole game you want to farm as much as possible. Having been in mid you should be the highest CS on your team (And the other team). Coordinate with the rest of your team helping in team fights as well as getting dragon/buffs. Blue buff is great for Vlad as long as there isn't someone else on your team who needs it more. [title]Team Fights:[/title] Always open with [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/r.png] trying to hit as many of them with it as possible (obviously it's most important to hit your focus target with it, usually the other team's carry). You want to use [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] and [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/e.png] every time they are up, and use [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png] to slow the enemies so the rest of your team can continue to dps them as they try to run away. Use [imgsmall=summoners/ignite.png] to lower healing on your focus or to finish off a Tryndamere. It does a ton of damage when paired with your ult and can obviously also be used for extra damage on low targets. Always stand behind your tank, unless you are in [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/w.png]. If you can't reach their carry to dps them and the fight hasn't initiated yet, you can usually get in a few [imgsmall=skills/vladimir/q.png] on their tank (or whoever is standing in front) if their team doesn't have a grab/pull such as Ammumu/Blitzcrank. You don't have mana, and your cooldowns are usually very low late game so if you can't reach their carry be doing damage to someone until you can.
