Zyra was quite OP when she was released and got quite a few nerfs, but she is still one of the Champions with the highest winrates. She can be played as an AP-midcarry or as and Support. This guide will be about the AP-carry Zyra. [title]Pros[/title] [.] Huge CC with [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png] and [imgsmall=skills/zyra/r.png] [.] Good damage output [.] Good harras [.] Nice farming and pushing with your plants [.] Free wards with [imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png] [.] Nice CDR with your [imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png] passive. Upt to 20% CDR [.] Great true damage with your passive [imgsmall=skills/zyra/p.png] (also you shouldn´t die) [.] 3 Hidden passives(see skills) [.] You deal damage wihout doing anything when u have grown your plants [title]Cons[/title] [.] Also [imgsmall=skills/zyra/p.png] does nice damage it only helps when you are dead [.] All your skills (also passive and ult) can be dodged [.] Plants can´t attack turret and are killed oneshot by them [.] Has no real gap closer to chase or escape [.] You need to hit your plants with your Skills in order to do damage so this is like a double skillshot(first the plants then Q or E on them)

Here I´ll cover changes to the game (Patch) affecting Zyra Preseason Balance update mid Januar 2013 Crystalline Flask Cost increased to 345 from 225 Now restores 120 health and 60 mana over 12 seconds from 100 health and 40 mana over 10 seconds per charge It´s a cost about 53% more than before and grants 50% more mana and 20% more healt. So it´s less cost effective if you need it for life and more and bit less if you needed it for mana, but it´s no more effective for the slot as you get more HP and MP in thats slot "stored". I still get it. Mid August 2012 [.]General Base movement speed reduced to [number]300[/number] (from 310) When multiple plants attack the same target, additional plants deal [number]50%[/number] damage (from 75% damage) [.]Rise of the Thorns (Passive) Now properly cancels spell casts upon activation [.]Rampant Growth Destroying a seed no longer breaks spell shields Plant selection radius increased slightly [.]Grasping Roots Modified the vine particle to be easier to see Damage per level [number]decreased to 60/95/130/165/200[/number] (from 60/105/150/195/240) [.]Stranglethorns Damage [number]reduced to 180/265/350[/number] (from 200/300/400) Cast [number]range reduced to 700[/number] (from 800) This was just a huge nerf to Zyra, but it was necessary as she was too OP. Now she is a really good Champ which is just a bit OP ;) Mid December 12 [.]Rise of the Thorns Damage reduced to [number]100-440[/number] from 124-549 Missile Speed reduced to [number]1900[/number] from 2200 Missile Width reduced to [number]70[/number] from 90 [.]Grasping Roots Missile Speed reduced to [number]1150[/number] from 1325 [.]Vine Lasher Fixed a bug where the plant was sometimes slowing by more than 30% Makes it easier to dodge the grapsing roots and her passive so you will need more skill or/and luck to hit your skillshots. The Damage reduce is a little nerf to her damage if you die. Will be no nerf if you just don´t die ;)

[highlight]Standard Start[/highlight] [imgext=http://imageshack.us/a/img69/628/zyraruness3apflatmr.jpg] [highlight]9 Greater Mark of Magic Penetration [+0.87 MPen] [/highlight] to get magic pen with is usefull from early to late game. [highlight]9 Greater Seal of Replenishment [+0.41 mana regen 5sec][/highlight] The flat manareg runes provide more mana before level 6. After that the scaling ones are better. It´s just your choice when you need the mana If you want to spam skills late game you can of course build athenes unholy grail and take the flat ones. [highlight]9 Greater Glyph of Warding [+1.34 MR] [/highlight] is alway a good choice in mid lane as you will play agaisnt another AP midlaner. If you know you will get an AD-mid you should not chose these. [highlight]3 Greater Quintessence of Potency [+4.95 AP] [/highlight] they just give you more AP. It will help you to deal more damage earyl on. [highlight]Start with Crystalline Flask[/highlight] [imgext=http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/5470/zyrarunesmsapscaling.jpg] Of course you can start standard with Crystalline Flask and the standard rune build and vice versa it´s just to compensate the MS you don´t have when you don´t buy boots. [title]Alternative Runes[/title] [highlight]9 Greater Seal of Clarity [0.065 mana regen 5 sec/lvl 1.17 at 18] -[/highlight] These are the scaling manaregen seals like I said before you can take them as they provide more mana post level 6. [highlight]9 Greater Glyph of Force [+0.17 AP/lvl 2.7 at 18][/highlight] Take these glyphs if you want to deal more damage late game. This could be a good choice if you know you will win your lane anyway. [highlight]9 Greater Glyph of Resilience [+1.41 Armor][/highlight] take these if you are forced to play against and AD-midlaner, as it will make your laning phase easier. [highlight]9 Greater Seal of Vitality [+1.08 Health/lvl 19.44 at 18][/highlight] grants you 1.08 health per level and can be taken if you want to stay alive a bit longer in fights. I like Rylias and Liandry´s Torment more to get more health instead of these runes, but still your choice. [highlight]x3 Greater Quintessence of Swiftness [+1.5% Movement Speed][/highlight] is also a really good Qunit. It gets you an advantage from early on and carrys into late game, as movementspeed matters in every stage of the game. I prefer this quints when starting with Crystalline Flask instead of boots. [highlight]3 Greater Quintessence of Fortitude [+26 Health][/highlight] you can also take the flat health Qunits, if you think you need them to survive the early game. They are really my third choice of Quints.

[title][img=skills/zyra/p.png] Passive: Rise of the Thorns [/title] [number]Upon death, Zyra returns to her plant form. After 2 seconds, she can press any ability to fire a Vengeful Thorn towards her cursor, dealing 99 + (25 x level) true damage to each enemy it strikes. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Zyras passive is really powerfull, but you should not force to get it as it costs you one life. It does a lot of [highlight]TRUE damage[/highlight] and so you can get revenge in a 1v1 if the enemy isn´t escaping fast enough. Also in teamfights its pretty usefull. If you are getting focus and the killed right at the start of and fight (also in middle or end) you can just use your passive and do true damge to ALL enemies it hits. That helps your team a lot. You can´t use it instantly when you are dead(delayed 2 seconds) so don´t spam all skills or you will be shooting somewhere into nowhere. Also notice it can only be casted with skills you have learned before. [title][img=skills/zyra/q.png] Q: Deadly Bloom [/title] [number]Thorns shoot from the ground, dealing magic damage to enemies within the area. Rampant Growth: If Deadly Bloom hits a seed, a Thorn Spitter grows. Thorn Spitter attacks with long range and deals magic damage. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] I´ll take this skill at level 3 to have all my 3 skil available and max it first. See Skill Order for detailed explaination. This will be your main ressource of harassement. If they are melee you can easily cast this skill around them when they try to last hit. Ofcourse you should also cast the e and put plants to deal additional damage. Remeber it has a short delay(0.5 seconds) after the thorns shoot out of the ground so place it in the way the enemie/minons are walking or force them to walk in a specific direction. [title][img=skills/zyra/w.png] W: Rampant Growth [/title] [number](Passive): Grants bonus cooldown reduction. (Active): Plants a seed lasting 30 seconds. If an enemy champion steps on a seed, it will be destroyed but they will be revealed for 2 seconds. Zyra periodically stores seeds and she can hold up to 2 seeds at any given time. Zyra cannot plant any more than 4 plants at a time. Cast spells on seeds to grow plants. Plant damage is based on Zyra's level. Extra plants striking the same target deal 50% less damage. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This is the Skill that defines Zyra. Her small seeds that can grow with your your 2 other Skill and can do unexpected damage. Both Plants do the same amount of damage and scale with your level not with any skill. Thorn Spitter ([imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png]-plants) have more range and the Vine Lasher ([imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]-plants) slow them down. Plants are killed by 3 basic attacks or 1 skill and 1 attack. Notice that a tower only needs one shot to kill your plants and they won´t attack him. The plants also proc the slow of Rylais. Seeds can also be used as wards. You can place them in a bush in the mid so you dont need to buy wards(wards aren´t useless, but if you don´t have some you can use your plants instead of going back). You can place 4 of the plants on the map at the same time and store 2. I take this skill at level 2 and max it last since it only reduces the cd a bit and gets seeds faster as I dont spam them so much at the beginning of a game. But remember to have 2 stored when you start a fight to do the most damage. [title][img=skills/zyra/e.png] E: Grasping Roots [/title] [number]Sends forward vines, dealing magic damage and rooting enemies for a short duration. Rampant Growth: If Grasping Roots hits a seed, a Vine Lasher grows. Vine Lasher has short ranged attack that deal magic damage and slow by 30% for 2 seconds. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] This skill is your main source of Crowd Control. It roots your enemies for quite a while and it can roote as many target as you can get as it just roots everyone in the line of your skillshot. Notice that this is "only" a sanre so they can cast spells and autoattacks they just cant move or use flash and teleport. Max this skill second for longer root duration and a bit more damage. Just hit your enemis with Grasping Roots and get plants in range and then cast Deadly Bloom around them to do damage and grow you seeds. If you just get it to grow one plant with your roots and one with your Deadly Bloom its the best as you slow them and do damage over more distance. [title][img=skills/zyra/r.png] R: Stranglethorns [/title] [number]Summons the fury of nature, growing a twisted thicket at target location which deals magic damage to all enemies in the area as it expands. After 2 seconds, the vines snap upward knocking enemies into the air. Rampant Growth: Plants within the thicket are enraged, increasing their attack speed by 50%. [/number] [title]Explanation:[/title] Your Ultimate does a decent amount of damage on its own, but it also has 2 other nice effects. First it gives your plants that are in her range and 50% AS-boost with helps you doing more damage and the second effect is a knock up after 2 seconds. So to get the most out of your ulti just put plants in it right before casting it or cast it on your plants when you already growed them in good position. Of cousre do not use it to only boost your seeds when there are no enemies in range of your ulti. This skill is also a reason why Rylais is so good on Zyra. As it takes 2 seconds to airborne the enemies inside they can escape but when you have rylais they are just slowed and so they need to flash or just take the knock up when they are not on the edge. Also this skill is what makes you so great in teamfights. You like and supporive burst. You if you cast this spell over your enemies they will just run around and your team (including yourself) can deal so much damage. Also as it is a knockup it can not be cleansed. [title]Hidden Passives:[/title] [imgsmall=champ/maokai.png]: As Maokai is a tree he gains +1 movementspeed if he is on the same team as Zyra. [imgsmall=champ/sion.png]: Plants Vs. Zombies: When either Sion or Zyra kills the other, they receieve a bonus 2 gold. [imgsmall=champ/leona.png]: Her passive causes Zyra to increase in size for a short time.

Standard Skill Order: [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/tmB4X.jpg] I want you to get a close look why I take this skill order. First I want to say it´s not set in Stone so there are really many ways how to skill Zyra. Mainly there are 2 ways that are common: max Deadly Bloom [imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png] or Grasping Roots [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png] first. Obviously take a point in her ultimate whenever you can. You don´t need to max Rampant Growth first as you don´t need so much plants in early game. You need to have 2 for a fight and sometimes for ward or when u want to harras or push a bit but in most times you don´t spam your seeds. The most common question I think is Deadly Bloom vs Grasping Roots. I take one point in Grasping Roots first as it is really usefull to have that cc when you want to defend or invade. Deadly Bloom is more of a harras Skill. The Base damage of Grasping Roots scales a bit better than that of you Deadly Bloom but when you got one of them to level 5 you will have more AP so the Deadly Bloom will do more damage as it scale a bit better: [imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png]: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+0.6AP) Magic Damage [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.5AP) Magic Damage But also notice that leveling up your Grasping Roots increases the duration of the rooting(0.25 every level) so if you want or need that to do more roaming or save yourself when getting ganked consider taking more points in it. A quick overview for thoose who don´t like long reading: [img=skills/zyra/p.png]: [.] Better AP scaling (above 50 AP has an advantage over [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]) [.] Shorter cooldown [.] Costs a bit more mana [img=skills/zyra/e.png]: [.] Better Base damage scaling [.] Increasing root duration So there are two build in my eyes the one is maxing Grasping Roots first the other Deadly Bloom. I recommend taking points in Grasping Roots if you roam more and Deadly Bloom if you want to harras your lane harder. Take [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png] at the first 3 levels. To get your CC and also have the option to build every plant. Then go [imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png] over [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png] for winning your lane and take points in Grasping roots when you need them(ganking and getting ganked). If you need lots of Crowd-Control for ganking or getting ganked take this Skill Order: [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/0nw2P.jpg]

If you want to kill and enemy start with Grasping roots so they can escape. Then you can put Deadly Bloom around them and get two seeds into range so they will be grown into Thorns Splitters. If you can´t get that seeds down so fast plant them before you use you Deadly Bloom as they won´t do anything when you plant them afterwards. Then you can just use your Ultimate and kill them. You can deviate a bit from this Combo as you seeds also get that 50% attackspeedbonus when you grow them up in your ulti after you have casted it. So you can get sure that your ulti will hit faster. It´s also usefull to have von Vine Lasher and not two Thorn Splitters so it´s harded to escpae your ultimate. [highlight]Combos for Killing:[/highlight] Best but hardest: [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png](in the line of your E)->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png](before Q hits)->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/r.png] Slower but easier to land: [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/r.png] "The Mid way": [imgsmall=skills/zyra/e.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/w.png]->[imgsmall=skills/zyra/r.png] You can cast your Ultimate directly after your Grasping Roots in every Combo but to get the full potentialy you seeds must be grown before your Ultimate ends or they won´t get the attackspeedbonus and so you lose damage.

Starting Items: [item=boots-of-speed][item=health-potion3] OR [item=crystalline-flask][item=sight-ward][item=health-potion2]+extra (OR [img=items/dorans-ring.png][img=items/health-potion2.png]) I think this is also a pretty standard start for an ap carry. You are faster with your boots, so you can escape skillshots and the healthpotions give you more sustain early game. As Dorans get a bit cheaper and you can now buy 2 Pots I think it is an viable option if you want to have an advantage beforer the first recall. As in Season 3 all champs got +25 MS and boots grant 25 less MS you can start with Crystalline Flask, wards and pots to get more sustain in lane and prevent early ganks. Of course you can vary the amount of wards and pots. You can also take Mana pots instead of HP pots or a mix of them. I actually start Crystalline Flask almost all times now, but I´m still experimenting with that. [title]Boots[/title] [item=sorcerers-shoes] (OR [img=items/ionian-boots-of-lucidity.png]) I like the sorcerers shoes more as the give me the damage I need and you already have 20% CDR when you maxed your Rampant Growth . If you want more CDR take Athenes Unholy Grail which also provides the mana you need for this playstyle. [title]Upgrade boots[/title] [imgsmall=items/enchantment-distortion.png] [number]reduces the cooldown on flash (ghost and teleport) by 25%[/number]. As you will take flash and this is a huge reduce I recommend this in most times. [imgsmall=items/enchantment-alacrity.png] In my opinion the extra [number]15 movespeed[/number] is the second best choice. You can build this if you get chased or want to chase and there is only a little Movementspeed difference between you and your enemy. [imgsmall=items/enchantment-homeguard.png] This would be the next alternative. It helps you to get [number]faster back to lane[/number] from your fountain. It doesn´t provide any benefit on the battlefield, as long as you don´t fight in your own base. So it´s the third choice. You can use this if you go often home to buy and then to lane e.g. if many kills happen. [img=items/dorans-ring.png] You can get a few (about 2) as they are still good. It helps you to dominate your lane early on. If you bought them consider to get Rabadons-Deathcap after that as your will increase your AP really hard with the 25% bonus and you already have a bit sustain. [img=items/haunting-guise.png] If possible I get Haunting Guise since you can upgrade it later and it prvoides you magic penetration and a bit life which is great early game. Its more expensive than 2 Doran so you will get it later or you just dominated your lane early on. I don´t upgrade this immediately. I just get Rylais or/and Rabadons and then upgrade it into Liandry´s Torment. [img=items/seekers-armguard.png] If you are forced to play against an AD midlane this is a great item. As it gives you the armor you need and you dont wast the money as you can upgrad this to the even more amazing Zhonyas. [highlight][title]Great Items on Zyra[/title][/highlight] [item=rylais-crystal-scepter] I get Rylais as it gives me AP so my skills do more damge. The health and the slow are amazing on Zyra. All my plants proc the slow so it´s really hard for an enemy to escape your plants. If doing well and you have the gold take Blasting Wand first for more damage output. Take this item first if you aren´t winning your lane or if you need to be more tanky early on. [item=rabadons-deathcap] As Deathcap is the main damage item for an AP carry you should build this on Zyra. Take this item before Rylais, if you win your lane in order to win it even harder. Also take in mind that you are squishier than with an early Rylais. [highlight][title]Depending on the Game[/title][/highlight] [img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png] This is an amaring Item. Take it if you want more damage output or if you are focused with hard burst. Ofcourse upgrade seeker´s armguard if you got it. You can use the active after planting your seeds and let them do the damage. When the stasis ends the enemies are knocked up in the( both the acitve and your ult take 2 seconds) air and you can escape or do the final killing blow. [img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] Abyssal Scpeter is a good aura item if you have more Champs in your that do magic damage. And also if you need magic resistance. Notice that your plants don´t get your magic penetration and so this aura helps them to do more damage.(thanks to drdread987) [item=void-staff] This item reduces the magic resist like the Abyssal Scepter, but even more. Take in mind that this doesn´t provide you any resistance. Take this if you want to deal more damage and not forced with heavy AP or/and don´t have other champs in your team that deal good AP damage. [img=items/athenes-unholy-grail.png] If you want to spam your Skills more often you can get this. Take chalice first when you are laning agaisnt an AP-champ as it will boost your resistance. With this and your passive you are nearly at cap of CDR and your mana is quite enough so you don´t need blue. Take this if you have another Champ in your team that is blue-reliant or just don´t buy it when you can have blue all the time. [img=items/guardian-angel.png] If you are the one carrying your team and so you may not die get this one as it provieds nice armour and magig resist and the revive is so usefull in this case. It also quite usefull as there are many times your plants deal the final blow after you are dead and with Guardian Angel this is a free kill. So Zyra is one of the few chamsp who can really profit from GA if they die without any of her teammates in range. [img=items/banshees-veil.png] Since it is changed in season 3 and now only refresehes if you took no champion damage within 25 seconds it won´t get up i a teamfight again so its not that usefully anymore. But you can still take it to safe you from champion combos or such skills like blitzgrab. [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png] If enemy has [number]Hard-CC[/number] like Veigar in your lane consider buying this one for its active. [highlight][title]Possible Items[/title][/highlight] [img=items/rod-of-ages.png] If you want to build her a bit more tanky and if you are in need of more mana you can get that item, but it will slow down your damage build and that´s what I recommend building her. Notice that the bonus stacks with time so you should get it quite early. Take Catalyst if you need the sustain or Blasting Wand if you want more damage and also have the option to build in another item. [img=items/liandrys-torment.png] [number]New in Season 3[/number] Now that this is a possible upgrad to Haunting Guise it makes it more viable, as you don´t habe to sell it late game. It 70 AP which is good enough to fill a slot with. You also get a bit life and a good amount of magic pen. Last but not least don´t forget the passive. You will deal a good amount of damage with this. It you will get half the bonus becaus your spells are aoe or the hit more times but it get doubled again if you slow or snare them. This has a very good synergy with Rylais to be tanking and get the bonus doubled or with abyssal to reduce the Mpen really hard. Remember that this if flat Mpen so it´s better to take void staff against really high MR. [img=items/deathfire-grasp.png] [number]New in Season 3[/number] First it got nerfed and now it´s totally new. This item is viable if you want to get an additional burst. It is also better if you get this in your build when you are focusing more on Magicpen than on Ap as it doesn´t scale with AP but the burst scales indirect with Mpen. Also it amplifies your burst and a few seconds of your plants. [item=hextech-revolver] Hextech is quite usefull as your plants heal you with the damage they do. It helps you to sustain in lana and you also can heal you up in teamfights by letting your plants do damage. Note: I am now less confident on this item as I take it almost no time. Thinking of removing it from possible items. [item=will-of-the-ancients] Will of the Ancients provides a good aura for your team and what else should you do with your Hextech? You can also get your last item before upgrading hextech if your team don´t need that aura. If you didn´t bought Hextech there is no need to buy this except no one on your team will buy it and they benefit great from it. Read note to hextech [highlight][title]Items to get almost no time[/title][/highlight] [img=items/archangels-staff.png] You won´t need that large manapool you aren´t Karthus or Swain. Yes it will do quite a bit of damage but there are better items on Zyra. If you still getting it notice that spamming your seeds cost 0 mana and also lets you farm your mana (thanks to FreeFall) [img=items/lich-bane.png] You cast your spells almost at the same time so you won´t get that much procs. Therefor it´s not a recommended item for Zyra in most times. When you really got that 39% CDR it possible to build it as you can spam Deadly Bloom every 3 seconds and so get enough procs. [img=items/morellos-evil-tome.png] Most times you don´t need it. You do a decent amount of damage. Also your plants do damage over time they enemies you are focusing shouldn´t have that much healthregeneration. [img=items/mejais-soulstealer.png] It´s more a trolling item when you do so great and kill the entire enemy team on your own but not for serious play. [img=items/guinsoos-rageblade.png] Are you Jax? No? So pretty useless item on Zyra. You will never deal so much autoattacks. [highlight]Overview of Season 3 Items:[/highlight] I will cover a short Oppinion so you can actually see what I think at the moment, for more in depth look just read the text below it. [img=items/shard-of-true-ice.png] [number]Short: Don´t Take it[/number] I think this is more an support item as u don´t need the aura for youself and the blizzard is for teamfights to help the tank or somehting like that. [img=items/liandrys-torment.png] [number]Short: Possible Item[/number] Now that this is a possible upgrad to Haunting Guise it makes it more viable, as you don´t habe to sell it late game. It 70 AP which is good enough to fill a slot with. You also get a bit life and a good amount of magic pen. Last but not least don´t forget the passive. You will deal a good amount of damage with this and it will be even double as you will almost alway slow them. [img=items/mikaels-crucible.png] [number]Short: Don´t take[/number] It provides mana and removes CC on an ally not on you. So as you are not the support you shouldn´t take this. [img=items/ohmwrecker.png] [number]Short: Don´t take[/number] This provides you life mana and armour. Why should you take this instead of building damage? You don´t need to tank all the incoming autoattacks and deal no damage. The passive is also good for diving under a turret so could be great late game or for a gank but not for you to lane, so i wouldn´t consider this. [img=items/twin-shadows.png] [number]Short: probably no[/number] I´m not really sure about this item. It gives you ability power mr and a bit movementspeed. I think you can´t get the most out of the passive as you should have vision on your lane. If you build Kage´s Lucky Pick before you could consider this, but in moste times you can get better items. [img=items/deathfire-grasp.png] [number]Short: Possible[/number] The new DFG now provides 100 AP, 15% CDR and also has an improved version of the old passive. You can deal a great amount of damage as it amplifies your burst and a few seconds of your plants. This item could really be viable in Season 3. Final Build: [item=sorcerers-shoes][item=rylais-crystal-scepter][item=rabadons-deathcap][img=items/zhonyas-hourglass.png][img=items/abyssal-scepter.png] AND/OR [img=items/void-staff.png] OR one defensive Abyssal Scepter and Void Staff grants magicpen. So only take both when you are facing MR. Also Abyssal Scepter reduces the MR of all enemies near you so it will also help your team (and plants) but Void Staff will reduce it more when one of the enemies is heavy stacked (if you are attacking him of course). Defensive items are: [item=zhonyas-hourglass] OR [img=items/guardian-angel.png] OR [img=items/banshees-veil.png] OR [img=items/quicksilver-sash.png] Remember to get these after full build: [img=items/elixir-of-brilliance.png]->[img=items/elixir-of-fortitude.png]

If you cast your [number]Deadly Bloom[/number] on one of your seeds you will get a [number]Thorn Spitter[/number]. This is your ranged plant. Casting [number]Grasping Roots[/number] on a seed will transform it into a [number] Vine Lasher [/number]. This plant has less ranged than your Thorn Splitter but it [number]slows[/number] the enemy by [number]30%[/number] for [number]2[/number] seconds. What to know about Zyra´s plants: They will [number]prioritize champions[/number] or if there are no champions in range, the plants will prioritize [number]Zyra's target[/number]. They do proc [number]spell vamp[/number] and [number]Rylai's[/number], but with diminished effects. Theys attacks [number]do not proc on-hit effects[/number] and [number]don´t pop spell shield[/number]. Your team can target your seed for Spells like teleport or lee sin lifeguard, but the enemies can´t. They won´t attack structures like Turrets, Inhibitors, or the Nexus. Extra plants striking the same target deal [number]25% less damage[/number]. Seeds last [number]30 seconds[/number] and grant [number]vision[/number] of a small area around them. Whenever an [number]enemy[/number] steps on a seed, they are [number]revealed[/number] for a short duration. Zyra gains one seed periodically and she can [number]hold up to a maximum of 2[/number] seeds at any given time. There can be a [number]maximum of 4 seeds on the ground[/number]. [.] Each plant has [number]6 HP[/number]: [.] Autoattacks from [number]Champions[/number] deal [number]2[/number] damage. [.] Autoattacks from [number]Minions[/number] and [number]Monsters[/number] deal [number]1[/number] damage. (So Baron and Dragon take quite a while to kill them) [.] [number]Area of effect[/number] spells deal [number]3[/number] damage. [.] [number]Single target spells[/number] deal [number]4[/number] damage. [.] [number]Turrets shots[/number] deal [number]6[/number] damage. (So turrets will one shot them) Zyra´s passive will transform her back into her plant form [number]after 2 seconds[/number]. So don´t press your Ability keys to insta so they will probably shoot into the wron direction. Your passive Rise of the Thorns [number]procs Rylai's[/number] 15% slow and also [number]pops spell shield[/number]. Zyra will only fire the projectile if the player activates any Ability she has [number]learned before[/number]. If the duration ends and you haven´t used any skill you just wasted [number]99 + (25 × level) true damage[/number].

[title]Warding Blue[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/E9mFz.jpg] Put the seed in the bush to see if an Enemy is walking up that river. The second seed is only to see blue or you can use it to kill the golems fast. But you have to choose between faster golem or having a seed stored when an enemy is coming. [title]Warding Dragon [/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/q96px.jpg] The seed in the bush is the better place but you have to go top to ward there. That will cost you quite a bit more time and you can get caught by an enemy while doing that. [title]Warding Baron[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/akQhn.jpg] At Baron it´s nearly the same as at Dragon. Seeds in the bush is better but it takes longer time. Also notice that there is a seed right in the Baron. Do you find? Just see how hard it is for an enemy to know that there is actually an ward also if they have vision there. [title]Other hints:[/title] [imgext=http://i.imgur.com/NbUdy.jpg] Notic that your Roots are faster. Take this in mind when you cast them simultaneously with Deadly Bloom. These two seeds in the picture will become Vine Lasher. Also the second seed is barely in range it will be grown up.

In this stage of the game you should farma and harras your enemy as much as you can. You can ask for an early gank (take Grasping Roots) as you have a Hard-CC and that could be an easy first blood. Just try to get them near to your jungler and then root them. If you are level 2 but two seeds in your skillshot line to grow them. If you already have Deadly Bloom grow the 1 seed after your grasping roots and let them grow with your Q so you will get the slow form one plant and longer damage from the other. In most times this doesn´t matter as they have to falsh or die anyway. You can cast Deadly Bloom first and then put the seed, but you have to put them up before the 0.5 second delay of the thorns. Also don´t waste your roots when you think they will gank you as it has a long cooldown and can help you survive a gank. If you want to get early first blood on yourself. Take W first, but only do this if neither your team nor the enemies are going to invade. Then you have two seeds at level 2 and can burst them really low if you hit your roots and the seeds. I don´t recommend roaming before level 6 but it is possible as you can push your lane quite fast with Q and your plants and you got good CC for a gank. At level 6 you can try to kill them alone( ofcourse it´s better with your jungler). Just let them push a bit and then root them and try to spawn a seed in the way of your root to get a Vine Lasher that slows them. If you rooted him put the other seed around and do Deadly Bloom. Then use your ult. They should not escap as they are still rooted and when it ends they are slowed by the Vine Lasher. Just hit them a bit and your seeds will have so much time to do the damage.

Mid Game is quite dependent on how well you are doing in your lane. If you are doing great just push your lane with your seeds and a [imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png]. That should be enough. Then go to another lane and help them. You should have no cooldown on your spells when you arrive and 2 seeds stored again. If there is no ward or if you just get in range root an enemy and hopefully you get that kill. When you got a kill at bottom then push that lane into the tower, so the enemies loose XP and CS. After that you can go for a dragon depending on how long they will be deed, how much life you and your mates have and where the other summoners are on the map. If no one can tank the dragon you can use your seeds to tank them. Just try this a few times to know who long they will tank. You will get a feeling for that after a few times. If you want a saver Dragon you can put one seed at the top of the dragon as an cheap ward. This 30 seconds should be enough. If you are behing just try to get a gank from the jungler. You have very good CC. If you can root an enemy and its most likely a kill for you. Also try to farm the wratihs when ever possible. You can just put a seed into it and [imgsmall=skills/zyra/q.png] around them. It belongs to your level if its enough or if you need to use another spell or a few autoattacks on them. If you farm the enemies wraiths its ok or better say its good if you let a little wraith alive so they wont respawn(counter-jungling). But you need to kill all little wraiths at your own side in order not to counterjungle yourself. The wraits will chase you to mid lane and your plants will only shoot them if they have vision to them. So at early stage you need to hut every little wraith one time in order to kill them. [number]TL;DR: Farm mid - farm wraiths - help lanes - take objectives[/number]

Late Game is more about taking objectives and forcing teamfights. At all time have Baron warded. You can put a seed in the modell of Baron so no one will see that ward. It only lasts 30 seconds so of course a ward is better. But it´s quite good if the enemy has oracle or vision ward there and you think they are starting baron. Put your seed down there and they have to step over it to destroy. You will get a few seconds vision(also if they step on it instant as you will see this champion), but you can also cast a skill on your seed when they try to step on it. When doing Baron set a few seeds around to ward or if already warded put them in the Baron pit to do more damage. If the enemies are doing baron you should just know that your ultimate fits the baron pit quite well. So if you arent way behind you should force a fight there. They are should have less life and debuffed by baron and you knock them all you if the stay there. What could be an better initiate? No Matter which champ you are, you should not stay useless. Try to look around them map if your team needs help(and you can be fast enought) or if its better to just push a lane. If you have to run away after a fight you and you have a seed and some mana left you can grow a Vine Lasher to slow enemies running towards you.

In teamfights you are really usefull as you have a lot of Crowd-Control. When a fight starts get your plants in the right position. It´s best near the squishies or those with low movemenspeed and no escapeskills. Then you just can cast your ult on your seed and on as many enemies as you get, notice that it has a short castrange. Hopefully you have Rylais at this moment so they can´t escape because of the slow. Knocking them up in 2 seconds can just win this fight. When you are just about winning this engagement and someone tries to run away root them and you have saved another kill for your team. Be aware of gap closers like Diana, Akali, Kata,Talon and Fizz. Your ultimate has a really short cast range and they can just jump on you and kill you so fast that your team doesn´t profit from your burst. This will almost every time result in a lost teamfight. Try not to stay in the front line. You are not a tank. Try to get your spells down and your plants in the fight. Then just back up a little and wait for you cooldown. Then you can just try to grow more seeds. Just don´t get in range of assasins. You can also safe your Ad-carry from tanks if you root them so he can reposition.

You can [number]place a seed in[/number] the model of the [number]Baron[/number]. This will be better as an vision ward as it can not be focus and so can´t be destroyed. Also if the enemy team get a vision ward there. You can get [number]up to 4 plants fighting[/number] for you when putting 2 seeds on the ground and waiting for 2 other. This can be used if you know an enemy is coming. Wait in a bush and put 2 seeds down. The when you have another 2 ready and the enemy is near root them and then cast Deadly Bloom around the enemy then put seeds in the area of your skill before the thorns shoot from the ground. It has 0.5 seconds delay. When taking blue you can just put a seed in the bush up the river so its a cheap ward and the 30 seconds will be enough. Same can be done at Dragon or Baron. Also note that with the new jungle your plants will tank for you. If you can kill the young lizards fast so they don´t attack your plants the blue golem will take llonger than the 10 seconds they live as he will deal 1 damage with every attack no matter how strong he is. When you just died in range of [number]blue or red[/number] you can steal it with your passive so [number]NO one will get it[/number]. Just in case you don´t want the enemies to get it and your team can´t take it.

This sections is still underprogress. I start with the harder Matchups, so dont think Zyra is just counter by everyone ;) [img=champ/ahri.png][highlight]Ahri - Medium/Hard[/highlight] Ahri is a very mobile champ and so can roam faster and easier than you. She also can just dash out of your ulti with her ulti and kill you. Try to root and harass her, but care if you miss a snare as she will try to charm and use her ulti on you. Don´t get caught by her charm as you will get heavy damage and can´t retrade that fast. [img=champ/akali.png][highlight]Akali - Hard[/highlight] Before 6 you can harras her pretty good. Her Twilight Shroud will defend her from your plants but if your snare her and got a Q on her she will get the damage and has o move out of her shroud or wait until it expands and then gets the aditional damage of your plants. Try to get a gank pre 6 to put you ahead of her. At level 6 she will be really annoying as she can just jump on you so easy with her ulti and also can burst you down if you aren´t far ahead. [img=champ/diana.png][highlight]Diana - Very Hard[/highlight] I think this is one of the hardest laning phase you can get. As I mentioned before assasins are the counter to zyra. She can just harras you with her Q(try to dodge this). After level 6 it will be really hard for you if she can land one Q, as she can Ulti on you and it will be resetet instantly. [number]Note: Diana got nerfed and I have never played against her since that update. So could be an easier Matchup....and buffed again so lets see...[/number] [img=champ/evelynn.png][highlight]Evelyn- Medium[/highlight] Eve will be a problem for your whole team if you let her roam as she can easily take kills with her burst and will be undetected by normal wards. You should pressure her mid; don´t let her roam. Hold the minion wave near her tower, but stay safe. If she tries to roam push the wave in tower so she looses cs and xp. Also don´t forget to call ss/mia for your team as they will not see her if they only ward with non-vision wards. Ofcourse you can follow her to countergank. [img=champ/fizz.png][highlight]Fizz - Very Hard[/highlight] As Fizz is also an assasins who can easily burst you down, he also can just jump on his staff and dodge all you skills. Also your plants won´t damage him in the air and if he lands back on the ground he will be out of range. He deals damage based on your missing health so take enough pots to always have lots of health. Try to zone him till level 3. [img=champ/karthus.png][highlight]Karthus - Easy[/highlight] You have to dodge his Q in order to not take damage. Notice that it will deal double damage if it only hits one target. Get early boots to dodge them even better. But he shouldn´t be that hard. he got no escapes and you can just harass him hard. The pro for Karth is his impact on all lanes, so you should win yours. You could also call when Karthus is lvl 6, if your team isn´t so good to take care of it. [img=champ/kassadin.png][highlight]Kassadin- Hard[/highlight] You should harras him before he gets his ult. He will just jump on you, use his silence and run away and you can´t do much. Also he is a problem for your other lanes as he can gank faster than you. Consider a banshees veil to block his spells. After level 6 don´t try to get him solo unless he really missplays. [img=champ/khazix.png][highlight]Kha´Zix- Hard[/highlight] Take armor seals. You need you´r snare if he jumps onto you. So if you miss you´r snare when his jump is ready he can easily jump an burst a big chunk of your health. Try to play safe and don´t let him become this assassin with jump resets in teamfights. If you can prevent this you´r ulti will help you´r team more in Teamfights. [img=champ/katarina.png][highlight]Katarina - Hard[/highlight] The next assasin is kata. She has also a gapcloser and can just jump on you or back to her own minions if you really got her one time. Try to root her when her Shunpoo(E) is on cooldown. [img=champ/leblanc.png][highlight]LeBlanc - Hard[/highlight] This champ could be really hard if she can dodge your skills. She has a really good burst and will beat you if not played carefully. But take in mid that she will be useless lategame, if she didn´t snowball hard. [img=champ/lux.png][highlight]Lux - Medium[/highlight] She got longer range and can harras you if you don´t dodge. Always no that one minion between you and her is not enought as she can snare 2. But she is very squishy so if you can snare her you will easily burs her down. 2 plants and Q+E burst her under half life befoe 6. AT level 6 you can kill her most times if you get her snared and hit all your spells plus ignite. [img=champ/orianna.png][highlight]Orianna - Medium[/highlight] Dodge her ball and don´t trade autoattacks with hre, because she will dela more damage with her passive. Just snare and harras her. [img=champ/ryze.png][highlight]Ryze - Easy[/highlight] Should be an easy Matchup as you have longer range than him and you can just snare and your plants will do the rest. Just don´t get caught by his cage and you should be well. [img=champ/swain.png][highlight]Swain - Medium/Hard[/highlight] Dodge his nevermore and try to snare and combo him. He has high sustain later on but you shouldn´t loose if you play quite well. Get early boots to dodge even better. [img=champ/talon.png][highlight]Talon - Hard[/highlight] This is one of the mid laner you should take armour seals. Try to harras him with range but care if he jumps and silences you with his cutthroat(E) [img=champ/veigar.png][highlight]Veigar - Medium[/highlight] Don´t get caught by his Event Horizon and bursted down. Try to harras him without getting harras back. You can build relais before Rabadons or Chalice, as his Ulti scale with YOUR AP. You can also get QSS if you are killed evertime you are hit by his cage and you can´t do anything against that. [img=champ/vladimir.png][highlight]Vladimir - Hard[/highlight] This guy could be really annoying as he can dodge all your skill with his pool. You can waste your ult lots of times, so try to wait until his pool is on cd, before you just go in for the kill. [img=champ/xerath.png][highlight]Xerath - Medium[/highlight] He has such a long range to harras you. So you wont get into hisrange when he has extended it with Locus of Power. Try to dodge his Q, as you can see where they will go also if you don´t see him. If you get stunned, you will be in big troubel as you wont get out of his range in time also if you start running after 1.5 seconds. Get an Rylais before Rabadon if you aren´t far ahead. [img=champ/zyra.png][highlight]Zyra - Easy to Very Hard[/highlight] Mirrormatchup just depends on skill. Try to harras more then she can and dodge her skills. You should know her well as you play her too. Let´s see whos the better Zyra. To be continued...
