THE PART WHERE YOU CHECK MY CREDENTIALS FOR MAKING A GUIDE

hey guys so Ivern was recently released and I've been grinding out games on him nonstop. I havent seen ANY high ELO guides that really grasp what he is as a champion, so I want to be the one to clear things up for everybody, then maybe, Riot might not destroy the champion before he's had a chance to flourish. A lot of People think he is weak but I dont find that to be the case, people are just playing him incorrectly right now (and trust me I know a lot of people dont want to be told that, sometimes it's just the truth though!)

For what you guys came to this section to read, I have put in a lot of time on Ivern, Im in top 20 most played for him on LolSkill, so not many people have played him more than me (those who have, have some pretty atrocious winrates LOL)Im currently Diamond but I was Master Level in Seasons 4, 5 and early Season 6.

What Ivern Really is as a Champion

Like I said earlier, I hate to break it to the Plat 1 crowd, but you're probably playing Ivern incorrectly. He's a supportive Jungler (Stop Trying to Dual Khazix) and his purpose as a support is much in part, quite different from other supports. Instead of being peel focused with some pick potential, Ivern is almost fully focused on Making picks and letting your team catch up to and stick to enemies. He has peel with his bushes and his shield, but they are extremely versatile and can be used to stick or peel, thats the beauty of Ivern. Your builds will Reflect this.

OH IVERNS BEAUTIFUL EARLY GAME!

Safest start is to go and ward the enemy buff closest to top lane, see if they are there. If they arent you have 2 choices.

THEY ARENT THERE!!!

OH FRAPJOUS DAY!!! This means you have 2 choices again! You can either take their buff and before minions even hit lane, go top and try to gank (possibly mid too but it's not as good most of the time) OR you can go back to your buff, Grove it up, and then go take theirs and gank. By the time your gank is done, your buff will be ready to take and you can rotate back easily. I usually love to have my team ward my other buff just to see if the enemy jungler is smart enough to take it, and usually your team can collapse.

THEY ARE THERE :'C

Well thats a shame but dont worry! you can still be a dickhead tree anyway! In fact you can usually take the buff right out from under them while they are starting their Krugs/Gromp. You have to start there, and be careful, but if you get away with it it will DESTROY the enemy Jungler. Take it and go back, grove your buff, go to the next buff, smite it, go back to the first, take it and gank top or mid again while the enemy jungler is recalled or bot side.

I dont wanna gank so early, I want to farm!

Well you can do that too, while I think it desnt take as much advantage of Iverns style as it could, you can Grove up everything possible and then go back through and take the camps, you'll level up and you can keep throwing up groves.

How to Gank with Ivern!!!

This is SOO important to Iverns early game, getting off good ganks is tough and it'l take practice, but they are oh so rewarding to you and your laners. For my first gank I usually tend to just E myself and walk behind the enemy. Slow them, hit your Q point blank and let your ally catch up. Pretty simple tactic.Your ganks are extremely reliant on landing Q so you need to get used to it's range and Travel speed. It's slow so you need to use some prediction to land it. Once you get used to it and can land it at longer Ranges, you'll throw it out, W on top of the Target, E yourself and then Dash to them. This way you'll make use of the full gap Closer of your Q but you'll also have your empowered and Enranged auto attacks when you get there! This is extremely important!!

Mid game is important on Ivern, this is where Junglers tend to shine and your map control will be very important. You need to stay safe from duelists like Nidalee, Elise and Kha, but be aggressive enough to take enemy camps and put out strong ganks. You need to have excellent ward coverage because getting counterganked is going to be a tragedy. Mid game is ALL ABOUT WARDS. The rest of this is all general game knwledge and doesnt pertain directly to Ivern, so read some general guides or keep on practicing!

Here in the late game you need to keep working on your warding. but this is where we begin

TEAMFIGHTING!

Teamfighting with Ivern is VERY difficult to do perfectly, and you need to work hard during teamfights to be relevant. You'll usually start teamfights yourself by making picks with your Q. Be careful about jumping in right away, you're not a full tank champion, it's tough for you to take the full brunt of an enemy teams damage. Your job is to keep the fight evolving with bushes, change the positioning the enemy teams need to tank and make the area a perfect spot for your team. Peel with Q if you have a fed ADC or use it to stick if you have good Bruisers or assassins. Use your E on your bruisers and assassins as well to let them stick to targets and add a bit of extra DPS.As for you yourself, make sure you're always using your Brushmaker autos. Put out slows on important targets and keep the CS coming. Use Daisy to apply pressure to carries or to peel for your own.Once you get all this down you can be an insanely strong force for your team during fights!

Ivern is a very strong champion, unfortunately the general community and Riot themselves dont think so, just because they cant 1-shot everyone in teamfights. Im hoping they dont ruin him like other champs but Im not hopefully seeing the trends with Riot so far.

Once you learn Ivern and play him the way he's best played, you can easily carry games for your team, especially in this crazy Dynamic Queue world where you can queue with competent players. Ivern gets better with the players that surround you.

Please spread the guide if you enjoyed and it helped you, Im hoping it will get popular and maybe convince Riot not to Ruin Ivern before he's even had a chance, like Taliyah.
