NEWS:
Seraph's Embrace Got a Buff! The new Seraph will give you at least 50 more shield

-This means Seraph is almost always better than Rod of Ages
-Ever since the fling nerf, Singed will need more mana to compensate for lack of damage. Tear of Goddess will now do the job!

STANDARD BUILD tear-of-the-goddess>rylais-crystal-scepter>mercurys-treads>seraphs-embrace>thornmail>liandrys-torment>abyssal-scepter

Other Builds Are Not Viable

rod-of-agesseraphs-embrace offers about 413 HP more than rylais-crystal-scepterseraphs-embrace
- Which is at most 13.6% more HP at level 14 (3453HP vs 3041 HP)
- Extra 20 AP only increases your poison damage by 3.9% when you have 280 AP
- Building redundant mana items especially during laning phase is not viable
- Rod of Ages has 10 minutes evolving time

Therefore you would want to be superior at all times with rylais-crystal-scepterseraphs-embrace
-Rylais slow should be better than 13.6% more HP and 3.9% more Damage (also the stat gap decreases as the game progresses)

Also there is no known 4 items-build better than rylais-crystal-scepterseraphs-embracethornmailliandrys-torment
Despite having rylais-crystal-scepter in the build, these 4 items give the most DPS and Tankiness
About Me (InvertedComposer)

Hello everyone! I used to be a 2.4k Elo player (2nd page of the ladder list!!) that only played Singed.
I know so much about him since I played him in over 3500 games

My Singed Win Streak record was 18 during pre-season 3. I'm a logical theory-crafter and an expert when it comes to optimizing Champion Builds! My intention of writing this guide was to share my knowledge with every-single-one of you (that's right, no secrets). Streaming is something that I always thought about doing but my 6 years old computer just can't handle it. That's why I posted some fun videos in my Youtube Channel instead.

Masteries

For 'Default Singed' Masteries ([summoners/ignite.png] or [summoners/exhaust.png])

Offense Tree (9)
  • Summoner Spell Mastery is mandatory as it enhances Spell from 27% to 35%
  • 3% Cooldown Reduction is preferred over Bonus Minion Damage as it scales throughout the game
  • 1AP/lvl slightly increases your damage. There is nothing better to take when you are climbing this tree
  • 8% Magic Pen. increases your magic damage dealt by 1.88%~5.63% (calculated with 30 MR~200 MR)

Defense Tree (21)
  • 6HP/lvl has to be taken in order to acquire Veteran's Scar (30HP)
  • Flat Armor/MR reduces your incoming damage by 3.7% (Assuming that you took 5 Armor and 30 Base Armor)
  • Unyielding blocks any damage (except true damage) after Armor/Magic Resist reduction is taken into account (This means 100 damage can be reduced to 50 with 100 armor and down to 48 with 2 points in unyielding)
  • Block blocks Auto Attack damage by 3 before Armor reduction is taken into account (This means 100 damage is reduced to 97 and 100 armor will further reduce it down to 48.5)
  • 30 HP increases your MAX HP by 5.5% at level 1 (assuming 550 HP)
  • Instead of 1.5 MR (1% Magic Damage Reduction at 50 MR), take 5% reduced tower damage so that you can make tower diving work out better for your team
  • 15% Tenacity is a useful mastery which stacks multiplicatively (this means there's no diminishing returns nor increasing returns when tenacity items are stacked) with
  • 1.5% HP is good on Singed since he tends to stack HP items
  • 10% Death Timer Reduction is the best mastery in the game. I usually spend about 150s dead in a 35 minutes game. This 1 point mastery had saved me 15s
  • 10% Crit Block is useful late game as half of the damage that AD carries deal are Critical Strikes
  • 3% Damage Reduction is like negating 1 attack in every 33 attacks. This is very good for a 1 point mastery

Notes
  • There is no need to get 10% Summoner Cooldown Reduction (Master Mind) because you are not taking to gank other lanes constantly
  • If you ever run out of mana, you recall. You do not need 3 mana regen/5 since you don't need much sustain to be able to gank other lanes at any time with
  • +5% on Bonus Armor/Magic Resist (Legendary Armor) is the second worst mastery in the game. If you have 100 base Armor and you get 100 Armor from Items/Insanity Potion, this Mastery will give you 5 extra Armor, and you'll take only 1.64% less damage. This reminds me of Honor Guard mastery from season 2 except that it's much worse when you don't have any tank items.
  • 15% slow reduction (Relentless) is not that good of a mastery. Consider yourself having 400 Movement Speed and you've been slowed with 40% slow (400->240). With this mastery, you'll be slowed with 34% slow (400->264). Congratulations, you'll move 10% faster when you're slowed with 40% slow. This value gets worse as the slow% is less. If you're slowed by 20% slow, your movement speed will be at 320 or 332 with the mastery (Only 3.75% difference).
  • Due to Strength of Spirit nerf (1%->0.75% of your max Mana), Utility Tree is not worth climbing anymore

For 'Master Singed' ([summoners/teleport.png]) Masteries

  • Instead of climbing the Offense Tree, get 10% Summoner Spell Cool Down Reduction to gank with more frequently.
  • 3 Mana Regen gives you 36 mana per minute.

Marks - Hybrid Penetration

  • Carries 71% of the attributes that each Mark of Armor Pen. and Mark of Magic Pen. has
  • Mark of Magic Pen. offers 7.83 M.pen and Mark of Hybrid Pen. offers 5.58 M.pen + 8.1 Ar. Pen.
  • Sacrificing 2.25 Magic Pen. for 8.1 Ar. Pen. is a reduction of 1.61% in Magic Damage and 6.14% increase in Auto Attack Damage (Calculated with 40 Armor and 40 Magic Resist)
  • If your damage is composed of 20% Physical Damage and 80% Magical Damage, then it can be assumed that Mark of Magic Pen. ties with Mark of Hybrid Pen.
  • This is currently the best Mark rune for any AP Champions

Seals - Flat Armor

  • 12.7 Armor
  • Offers 8.9% Physical Damage Reduction (Calculated with 30 starting armor)
  • Other HP runes are inferior as Singed tends to build HP items
  • This is currently the best Seal rune on anyone

Glyphs - Flat AP/ Scaling AP/ Scaling Magic Resist

10.7 AP
  • At rank 1, your poison does 14.6% more damage and fling does 10.71% more damage
  • Preferred against Melee AD Champions

27.54 AP @ lvl 18
  • Ties with Glyph of Flat AP at level 7
  • Preferred against Ranged AD Champions

24.3 MR @ lvl 18
  • Ties with Glyph of Flat Magic Resist at level 9
  • In Early game, most champions rely on their auto attacks to deal damage, making early resist less effective
  • Preferred against AP Champions

Quints - Movement Speed

  • Provides 15.5 ~20 Movement Speed
  • If Singed is only 20 movement speed faster than his opponent, having this rune will allow him to close the gap twice as fast.
  • This is a must on Singed since he has to get ahead of his enemies to poison them
Summoner Spells

Bruiser Duelist Style [summoners/ignite.png][summoners/ghost.png]

  • Takes away about 15% of Enemy's Max Heatlh
  • Effective against fast regenerating enemies (Nidalee, Swain, Irelia, Vladimir, Yorick etc)
  • Also effective against squishies (Vayne, Teemo, Twisted Fate, etc)
  • Less Effective against Shields (Lee Sin's shield, Rumble's Shield, Janna's Shield, etc)

Invincible Laning Style [summoners/exhaust.png][summoners/ghost.png]

  • Impairs enemy ganks
  • A very good baiting tool
  • Very effective against Auto Attack reliant champions (Fiora, Tryndamere, Wukong, Lee Sin, ADC, etc)
  • Less effective against Casters especially the ones with heals (Vladimir)

Master Ganking Style [summoners/teleport.png][summoners/ghost.png]

  • Sets you up to play more passively
  • On the other hand it is a good lane controlling spell
  • Constantly push your lane and seek opportunity to gank other lanes with Teleport (after level 6)
  • Split pushing as Singed is viable with this spell
  • Recommended for experienced Singed players
Skills

[skills/singed/p.png] Passive: Empowered Bulwark

  • Gives 162.5 HP from full stack [items/rod-of-ages.png] and 250 HP from [items/seraphs-embrace.png]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[skills/singed/q.png] Q: Poison Trail

  • Max this First
  • Learn this at level 1 as Singed cannot harass with Fling alone
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[skills/singed/w.png] W: Mega Adhesive

  • Too costly early
  • Learn this at level 8 when you have some mana to spend.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[skills/singed/e.png] E: Fling

  • Unless you are participating in level 1 team fight, learn this at level 2
  • Upgrade this ability at level 4 to increase its base damage by 50
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[skills/singed/r.png] R: Insanity Potion

  • Do not use this ability to regain your mana
  • This Ability has the potential to deal 332.5/475/617.5 (25s x poison/s + 2 x fling) magic damage with just the AP part
Item Builds

Core Items

[items/crystalline-flask.png]-The Best Regen Item
  • Every time you drink from this flask, you'll save 49g
  • This means you have to drink it at least 4.22 times for the item to be worth it
  • In team fights, queue up all 3 flasks and the flasks will automatically heal you for 360 hp over 36 seconds
  • The new Flask (345g) saves more gold than the old Flask (225g) after 9.3 charges

[items/seraphs-embrace.png]-The Best Mana Item
  • [items/rod-of-ages.png](2800g)@ 0minutes = [items/tear-of-the-goddess.png][items/giants-belt.png][items/amplifying-tome.png][items/blasting-wand.png] (2995g)
  • The difference between [items/rod-of-ages.png] and [items/seraphs-embrace.png]: (RoA) 562.5 HP vs (SE) 40 AP + Active (Usually around 550 Shield) +100g
  • Unlike [items/rod-of-ages.png], Seraph's Embrace is inconsistent
  • The Recipe Items (Required Items) are expensive [[items/tear-of-the-goddess.png][items/giants-belt.png][items/amplifying-tome.png][items/blasting-wand.png]] to build early
  • In terms of item potential, [items/seraphs-embrace.png] is slightly better
  • Sometimes people forget to use its Active
  • There is a tedious condition that for this item to be worth it, one must fully charge the mana stacks
  • Provides unlimited mana in lane
  • Good baiting potential with high AP and Shield Active

[items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]-The Best Core Item for Singed
  • Cost reduced from 3105g to 2900g
  • Reduces affected enemies' Movement Speed by 60(Poison) or 140 (Fling) [calculated with 400 MS]
  • Has strong synergy with [items/liandrys-torment.png] (by doubling the proc damage)
  • Permanent slow is necessary as [skills/singed/w.png] isn't available at all times

[items/thornmail.png]-The Best Dueling Item
  • Returns 30% of the Auto Attack damage to the dealer as Magic Damage. The returned damage is calculated before armor (This means if enemy deals 1000 damage with auto attacks and you have 100 armor, you will lose 500 HP and you will return 300 magic damage to the dealer)
  • In average it deals 45% of the damage that you receive (e.g. in death recap it says you received 1000 damage from basic attack which means enemy's death recap should say Thornmail dealt about 450 damage)
  • This item has the highest potential in the game
  • Dueling an AD carry with [summoners/ignite.png] and this item is a devastating combo

[items/liandrys-torment.png]-The Best Damage Item for Singed
You are likely to be dueling an enemy ADC so you built [items/rod-of-ages.png] for mana, [items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] for slow, and [items/thornmail.png] for armor. Now you build this mask for damage.
  • Deals 2% of enemy's Current HP every 0.5 seconds with [items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] for 3s (Continual Exposure to Poison refreshes the tick count back to 6).
  • Just the proc damage itself offers 400 AP to Singed's Poison on enemies that currently have 3000 HP (120 damage/s or 60 damage/0.5s), 200 AP vs enemies with 1500 HP, 100 AP vs enemies with 750 HP, and basically 0 AP vs enemies with 1HP.
  • Since the proc damage scales with enemy HP and CC, this item should only be built late game

[items/abyssal-scepter.png]-The Best Magic Resist Item for Singed
  • The Aura range is only 700
  • If your target enemy's net Magic Resist is 20 due to your flat Magic Penetration, the 20 MR Reduction Aura from this item will increase your magic damage dealt by 20% (100+20/100+20-20 = 120/100)
  • The only alternative for this item is [items/guardian-angel.png] where you are sacrificing damage for tankiness

[items/mercurys-treads.png]-Tenacity is a form of Disable Reduction
  • Very effective against Stun, Taunt, Fear, and Snare
  • This is one of the few Magic Resist items that are good on Singed

Situational Items

[items/guardian-angel.png]-Man Mode Armor
  • A very intimidating item for enemies especially late game. Enemies will struggle to decide whether to stop you or just wipe out your allies. Be aggressive but try not to be isolated with your team
  • Once GA is down, the stats it offers are practically useless. Sell it and grab [items/abyssal-scepter.png]

[items/rod-of-ages.png]-The Legacy Item
  • Cost reduced from 3035g to 2800g
  • Offers 812.5HP 650 Mana and 80 AP for Singed after 10minutes of purchase
  • [items/catalyst-the-protector.png] got nerfed too hard. You can build [items/sapphire-crystal.png][items/blasting-wand.png] first and turn it into instead
  • Outclassed by [items/seraphs-embrace.png] though Rod of Ages is more consistent with giving HP

[items/void-staff.png]-What is their MR level? It's over 200!!!
  • If an enemy has 200 Magic Resist then 35% Magic Penetration alone will increase your Magic Damage dealt by 30.4%
  • If your enemy AD Carry has over 150 MR then you might as well get this so you can duel him

[items/ninja-tabi.png]-Good ol' Broken Item
  • Total Cost increased by 100g
  • With 50 base armor, this item is equivalent to 44.4 armor against Auto Attacks
  • 10% AA damage reduction is more effective when you have more Armor
  • Recommended against AD top with AD Jungle

[items/dorans-ring.png]-Cheap Ring
  • The stats offered are similar to [items/sapphire-crystal.png][items/amplifying-tome.png] combined
  • I'd say it worth about 726g (435*(15/20) + 400)
  • Sells for only 190g (285g loss)
  • So if you'd like to sacrifise 285g later for 251g early gold advantage then go for it
  • Unfortunately, this is still outclassed by [items/rod-of-ages.png]

Inferior Items

[items/dorans-shield.png]-Nerfed Shield (Updated)
  • Outclassed by [items/ruby-crystal.png]
  • Sells for only 190g
  • 6 Auto Damage Block applies before resistance calculations (it's like reducing enemy's AD instead of healing you every time you're hit)
  • Comparing [items/ruby-crystal.png](180HP) vs [items/dorans-shield.png](100HP 5 Armor 8hp/5 6block)
  • There is 80 HP difference (180-100)
  • 5 Armor reduces physical damage further by 3.5% when you have 40 armor. If you were to take 1000 physical damage after resistance, then 5 armor has healed you for 35 HP. Now there's only 45 HP difference (80-35)
  • If you have 75 armor, the shield's Unique Passive will block 3.5 Damage/Auto Attack after reduction
  • Let's say in average you get hit by 3 auto attacks every 10s (to be honest you should be hit way less frequently). That is 10.5 damage block every 10s or 5.25 HP5
  • If you combine the regen values it sums up to 13.25HP5
  • To compensate for 45 HP difference, one needs to stay in lane for 17s
  • Which means if you stay in lane for 1 minute, you regain 159 HP or 113 more HP than [items/ruby-crystal.png] in this scenario
  • Not too bad after the recent New Ranking Patch but soon enough you'll realize that you don't have enough item space (e.g. no space for [items/sight-ward.png][items/health-potion.png])
  • Conclusion:[items/dorans-shield.png] is an unupgradeable item which also makes you lose 285g sooner or later. I don't recommend it

[items/randuins-omen.png]-The Cursed Shield
  • Active no longer grants 35% Attack Speed Debuff
  • Granting 500 HP when you already have 3700 HP from [items/rod-of-ages.png][items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] make it less effective
  • Slow outclassed by [items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]
  • Armor stat outclassed by [items/thornmail.png]

[items/banshees-veil.png]-Noob's Lucky Charm
  • Includes the nerfed item [items/catalyst-the-protector.png] in its recipe
  • Outclassed by [items/rod-of-ages.png] and [items/abyssal-scepter.png]
  • Blocking 1 spell is not good enough for a durable champion like Singed

[items/chalice-of-harmony.png]-Your Passive Scales with Mana, not Mana Regen
  • While this is a good item, [items/tear-of-the-goddess.png] is cheaper and it scales throughout the game progression
You need HP over Magic Resist early game. Use Runes to increase your Magic Resist

[items/ohmwrecker.png]-Utility much?
  • Stats outclassed by [items/rod-of-ages.png]
  • You pick the fight you want. Disabling a tower for 2.5s is useless away from enemy towers

[items/sheen.png]-Destroyed Master's Sword
  • Mana reduced from 250 to 200
  • Inferior due to [items/rod-of-ages.png][items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] cost decrease (235g/205g cheaper)
  • Was only efficient against [champ/xinzhao.png][champ/irelia.png][champ/leesin.png][champ/riven.png][champ/darius.png] (Gap Closer + Slows)
  • You have to be able to perform Sky Auto Attack for this item to be effective
  • Why get a Hard-to-use item when an Easy-to-use item does the same job?

[items/glacial-shroud.png]-Destroyed Shroud (Updated)
  • 300 Mana, 45 Armor, and 10% Cooldown Reduction for 1350g? Though it received a slight buff you need to focus on other stats
  • You don't need any extra mana after [items/rod-of-ages.png]
  • You don't need 10% Cooldown Reduction on Singed
  • [items/chain-vest.png] is all you need

[items/frozen-fist.png]-Destroyed + Destroyed = ? You guessed it right. It's a Destroyed Gauntlet
  • Slow outclassed by [items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]
  • You don't want any excess mana
  • That means you are paying 3250g for 40 AP, 500/4 HP, 60 Armor, 10% cooldown reduction and the proc damage? No thank you

[items/frozen-heart.png]-Frozen Dung
  • Cost increased from 2775g to 3000g*
  • Armor reduced from 99 to 95
  • Mana reduced from 500 to 400 and you don't want any excess mana
  • This is still an overpriced item
  • You can expect at most 20% Auto Attack Damage Reduction from this
  • Outclassed by [items/thornmail.png] which in average returns 45% damage that you receive (e.g. in death recap it says you received 1000 damage from basic attack which means enemy's death recap should say Thornmail dealt about 450 damage)

[items/spirit-visage.png]-Non-Existent Visage
  • What is Singed's HP5? Around 70 with Insanity Potion? Then this item's Passive offers around 14HP5
  • Why don't you just get [items/giants-belt.png][items/negatron-cloak.png] instead?

[items/warmogs-armor.png]-Redundant Destroyed Mogs (Updated)
  • 1000 HP and around 40HP5 (if you have 4000 HP) for 2830g
  • The stat it offers are quite overrated (no utility)
  • Outclassed by [items/rod-of-ages.png] as 1st/2nd item
  • Outclassed by [items/seraphs-embrace.png](250HP+675 shield+140AP) as 6th item. So basically it's 140 AP vs 50 HP5

[items/rabadons-deathcap.png]-The Cursed Cap (Updated)
  • Outclassed by [items/void-staff.png]. Let's say you have 150AP and enemy has 80 MR. With [items/rabadons-deathcap.png], your Poison will do 70+(351*0.3) multiplied by 100/100+80MR = 97.4 dmg/s. With [items/void-staff.png][items/blasting-wand.png], your poison will do 70+(260*0.3) multiplied by 100/100+52 MR = 97.4 dmg/s. Also, [items/void-staff.png][items/blasting-wand.png] will deal even more damage relatively if enemy has more Magic Resist
  • Outclassed by [items/liandrys-torment.png]. Suppose you have 150 AP. [items/rabadons-deathcap.png] makes your final AP to 351. [imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png makes your AP for your poison to 200 + (400AP at 3000 enemy's current health/200AP at 1500 enemy's current health/100AP at 750 enemy's current health) assuming that you have [items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]. You also gain 15 Magic. Pen and 300 HP with [imgsmall=items/liandrys-torment.png and it's 400g CHEAPER!!!!!!!

[items/runic-bulwark.png]-The Unnecessary Bulwark
  • Come now, why would you pay 3200g for 400 HP, 10HP5, 30 Armor and 60 Magic Resist? This is a team shield.
  • It's not cost-effective for yourself
  • Cannot replace any of my recommended items

[items/will-of-the-ancients.png]-Your Useless History Notebook
  • Spell vamp is only 1/3 as effective for AOE spells like Singed's Poison Trail
Outclassed by [items/rod-of-ages.png]
  • Let's say you did 3000 damage (after Resistance calculations) with Poison Trail. Congratulations, you've regained 200 HP with 20% spell vamp
  • Have a look at the next item that we all think it is a better spell vamp item

[items/spirit-of-the-spectral-wraith.png]-Your False Hope
  • Outclassed by [items/rod-of-ages.png]
  • Spell vamp does not work with [items/liandrys-torment.png] nor [items/thornmail.png]
  • This is where you see the reality people: [items/rod-of-ages.png] = 812.5 HP. In order to get 800 HP back with 20% Spell Vamp, Singed needs to deal 12,000 Magic Damage with Poison Trail AFTER RESISTANCES
  • 650 Mana > 10 mp5 + 10% CDR + 25% Bonus Damage to Monsters
  • 80 AP > 50 AP
  • 2800g vs 2000g. Ok let's give a
  • 80 AP = 90 AP
  • ...
  • About 35~45% of your damage comes from [items/liandrys-torment.png][items/thornmail.png][summoners/ignite.png] anyway, good luck doing 12k dmg when every enemy champion have over 67 Magic Resist (Yes, 67 alone provides 40% damage reduction)
  • So can you do 20,000 raw damage with just AP? Huh? Still worse than [items/rod-of-ages.png]
  • Just listen to me and stop getting Spell Vamp

[items/hextech-revolver.png]-Just shoot yourself when you get this
  • You can build [items/ruby-crystal.png][items/blasting-wand.png] and it's still better
  • In order to regain 100 HP, your Singed has to deal 2500 Damage with Poison Trail after Resistances
  • It builds into junks which I have criticized epic hard above. You don't need to hear any more of this so that you may live happy

[items/shurelyas-reverie.png]-Destroyed Master's Crown
  • HP reduced from 330 to 250
  • HP Regen reduced from 30 to 10
  • MP Regen reduced from 15 to 10
  • Cooldown Reduction reduced from 15% to 10%
  • Cost only reduced by 100g .....
  • NERFED TOO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

[items/philosophers-stone.png]-If you still get this then you are really sad
  • Builds into junk
  • HP Regen reduced from 15 to 7
  • MP Regen increased from 8 to 9
  • Cost Reduced by 100g
  • Outclassed super hard by [items/tear-of-the-goddess.png]
  • Grants only 300g/10minutes
  • It only sells for 340g
  • *facepalm

Singed's Hidden Abilities (MUST READ)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Invisible Poison

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i49.tinypic.com/9iw7mc.gif]

  • Procedure: 1st Method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nCJ2KlZ92I&feature=plcp
  • 2nd Method: Bind your Poison Trail (Q) with 'T' as secondary key (Available in Key Bindings). Press both Q and T at the exact same time.
  • Usage: Very useful during early game for harassing especially because your poison is invisible. Notice how "Invisible Poison" doesn't expend and has smaller radius than a visible poison. Your target has to literally "step on" it rather than just "touching" it.
  • Tips: If you barely see the Poison buff on your buff screen and your ability goes on cooldown, then you've done it right. You should absolutely see no poison in the game.
  • Difficulty: 10% (VERY EASY NOW RIGHT?)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Concealed Poison

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i45.tinypic.com/2wdu1z9.gif]

  • Procedure: Similar to Nunu's ult, just stay out of enemy's sight by going into a brush
  • Usage: Makes your enemies "visually" harder to dodge the poison
  • Tips: During a fight, when both you and your enemy's HP are low, hide in a brush so that your enemy will eventually give up chasing you. It is possible that your clueless enemy will run over your poison again.
  • Difficulty: 10% (Very Easy)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sky Auto Attack

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i50.tinypic.com/3599zcz.gif]

  • Procedure: Cast fling followed by an Auto Attack. The easiest way to achieve this is by pressing A on your keyboard and then click on any vacant space right after you fling. Right Clicking on your target works as well.
  • Usage: You can land an additional Auto Attack while the target is unable to perform any actions on air.
  • Tips: Make sure you master this technique as this will greatly increase your DPS. Note that the target is unable to retaliate and the distance between Singed and the target is being created after the effect of Sky Auto Attack. This technique is very effective for nuking when you are kiting melee champions. If Singed turns around but still performs Sky Auto Attack, it is not bad but you still idled for about 0.3s (Refer to the pictures above).
  • Difficulty: 70% (Hard, but you have to master this!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Void Toss

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i50.tinypic.com/2qa4kzm.gif]

  • Procedure: Stand very close to a reasonably thin wall (any walls that Caitlyn can jump over) and fling your target perpendicular to the wall
  • Usage: Escaping, turning a 1v2 fight to 1v1, kiting, killing squishies, saving allies, relocating enemy tanks away, etc.
  • Tips: Make sure your target keeps a distance with a wall so that you can fit in between them. Always fling your target straight, not diagonally.
  • Difficulty: 80% (Very Hard, but this can win you games!)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perfect Mega Adehsive

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i50.tinypic.com/2a2gp3.gif]

  • Procedure: Cast your Mega Adhesive way ahead of your target. The circular spell indicator should not be touching your target
  • Usage: Landing a good slow is how I determine a good Singed player. You can slow a person up to 4 seconds (without fling) instead of 1s only, which most Singed players do.
  • Tips: If it is impossible to land Perfect Mega Adhesive because you're not quite in range, try chasing your target for a bit as you are usually faster than them.
  • Difficulty: 50% (Average. Remember, always lead your mega adhesive 1s ahead)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fling Lock

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i50.tinypic.com/16tml5.gif]

  • Procedure: Order your Singed to Fling a target with Hard CC from a distance. As soon as the target gets in range, Singed will fling the target no matter what kind of Crowd Control Effect has been applied on Singed such as Supression, Stun, Silence, Taunt, etc.
  • Usage: Soraka, Taric, Volibear, Sion, Warwick and Urgot Supression (Yes, free supression & dmg negation), Galio's Taunt, not get knocked up after blitz's grab, etc
  • Tips: If you have no idea when the target is going to hard CC you, lock Fling on the target whenever you are moving towards the target.
  • Difficulty: 90% (Insanely Difficult)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flash Fling

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i50.tinypic.com/15eb9yp.gif]

  • Only works when the enemy Flashes right when your fling channeling ends. You can't control this, it's totally up to the victim who casts Flash.
General Hidden Abilities (MUST READ)

Farmer's Auto Attack

  • Procedure: Right click on an enemy minion until Singed gets in range. Immediately cancel the order of Auto Attack and wait until you can last hit the minion.
  • Usage: Very useful when your path is blocked with bunch of minions and you do not know when Singed will get to the minion that he wishes to deal a killing blow.
  • Tips: Make sure you don't get harassed too much when you're farming from minions
  • Difficulty: 20% (Easy)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never Get Juked!

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i47.tinypic.com/1ostiu.jpg]

  • Procedure: If an enemy goes into a brush and no minions are near you, press A and click on the brush
  • Usage: As soon as your champion encounters an enemy, it'll immediately attack that enemy regardless of your latency and reaction speed. Therefore, if you're a melee champion, you'll end up in a melee range with the enemy champion in the brush, preventing your champion from getting juked.
  • Tips: Stay away from minions, or you'll chase a minion instead of your desired target
  • Difficulty: 30% (Easy)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Covering Minion HP!

:::::::::::::::::::[http://i46.tinypic.com/zol6u.gif]

  • Procedure: Locate yourself below your minion and cover its HP bar with your own HP bar
  • Usage: In lane, this can easily piss off your enemy and it is more likely that he will miss cs.
  • Tips: While he's busy left clicking on the minion to manually check its HP, you can attempt to attack him!
  • Difficulty: 50% (You need to be quite organised for this)
Early Game

Early Sustain is very important as each minion death contributes greatly to your level. For this reason, you must be prepared for random ganks and push minions before recalling to gather as much experience as possible. Start with [items/crystalline-flask.png][items/health-potion.png][items/sight-ward.png]. By using your poison to force an enemy champion away, you can safely last hit minions. Play aggressively if your enemy champion is coming for the minion that is further behind your minion wave. There is no champion that can fight back against your minions, poison, and auto attacks combined.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my Opinion, Singed is at his Strongest at level 2. Singed can leash a strong nuke combo with Fling and Poison Trail, followed by Sky Auto Attack to severely damage his enemy. After that, Singed can either decide to flee in order to avoid his enemy's retaliation or to continue attacking the target to bring his enemy's life even lower. Manage Mana wisely as Fling costs a lot of Mana.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 5 is usually the time I decide to Recall. At this stage, I'm usually out of HP Potions, low on mana, and can afford an item. Because I do not wish to overextend and risk of being ganked, I immediately push my lane with my remaining Mana and go back to the base to purchase [items/catalyst-the-protector.png] and [items/sight-ward.png]. With [items/health-potion.png] I can stay in my lane even longer with Catalyst passive.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that I have [skills/singed/r.png] at level 6, I try to play very aggressively in my lane. Because it has 25s duration, I try to use it early to make the most out of it and force some fights while I have the advantage. Once the effect wears off, I usually push the lane and return to base so that I don't have to be fighting while my Insanity Potion is on Cool Down.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finally spend 1 point on Mega Adhesive at level 8. The reason is that now I have greater mana pool to afford another ability without going out of Mana too fast. The slow percentage is still quite low, so I try to not to use it unless if I'm in a desperate situation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before the game moves on to Mid Game, when the Laning Phase is over, I try to Counter Jungle as much as possible to deny enemy Jungler's EXP.
Mid Game

Participate in Dragon and Buff fights, ganks and tower hunting. This stage is where the usage of Void Toss and landing Perfect Mega Adhesive become very important. Purchase [items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png] to dominate in team fights. Despite your low score, let your carries take the kill. If you ever get the chance to farm, push your lane hard so that you can participate in team events.
Late Game

You aren't usually the initiator, but try throwing some Mega Adhesive around to see if any enemies get out of position.
In team fights, try protecting your carry by flinging an enemy away and throw Mega Adhesive in between them. You can also zone out your enemy carry by charging at them but be ware of getting out of position. This is where [items/frozen-heart.png] and [items/thornmail.png] become handy. Your job is to disrupt enemy's positioning, do a decent AOE dmg over a period of time, soak up some damage, and make it out alive while the rest of your teammates finish the job.
Match-ups and Counters

I already wrote some comments on Champion Select for Singed Match-ups. You can check them here:
http://championselect.net/champ/Singed

Before we get into any individual details, let us discuss about Singed counters and whatnot.
Singed deals a lot of magic damage over time and needs to be in melee range to be threatening. This means you can counter Singed by having a lot of health regaining abilities, Magic Resist, and kiting tools like [items/frozen-mallet.png]. Therefore, the ideal counter item is [items/force-of-nature.png]

What about champion abilities? Shields and Heals are generally a good way of negating Singed's Damage. Haste, slow, and ranged attacks also limit Singed from being useful. Next time you play against Singed, make sure you pick a champion with these abilities.

I will NEVER say "Sit at Tower and Pray for Ganks". Now read on and be ready to dominate your lane!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hell Lane

[champ/kayle.png][champ/lulu.png]

What do they have in common? Yes, they are Ranged, have Slow, have Haste, and have Shield/Heal.
Use one of the brushes to conceal yourself and only come out to last hit nearby minions. Always use [items/health-potion.png] to keep your health near full. They would not follow you to the brush because you actually out damage them in melee range. Once you get your [skills/singed/r.png], you can try fighting them, push the lane while you tank some hits, and return to base immediately. I highly recommend you to rush [items/guardian-angel.png] because you get fair amount of hybrid resistance and its passive allows you to overextend under your tower without having to worry about enemies Tower Diving.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nightmare Lane

[champ/rumble.png][champ/yorick.png][champ/swain.png][champ/rengar.png]

These Champions also have Slow, Haste, and Have Shield/Heal. The only difference is that Rumble, Yorick, and Rengar are melee champions and Swain does not actually have Haste ability.
Try keeping a distance from them so that they can't harass you with their abilities. You will also have to skip some CS but if you feel that you really need to clear a large wave, fling the enemy champion away from your target minions and just poison the whole minion wave while you're running away from the enemy champion. You will need great sustain for this so rush [items/catalyst-the-protector.png] and then grab a [items/null-magic-mantle.png].
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard Lane

[champ/corki.png][champ/kennen.png][champ/mordekaiser.png][champ/nidalee.png][champ/teemo.png][champ/urgot.png][champ/vladimir.png][champ/nunu.png][champ/jayce.png]

You won't lose to these champions in melee range. Utilize brushes and charge at them whenever you get the chance. They are good pokers so make sure you stock up some hp potions.

How to beat Teemo: Keep the pressure on him
Utilize Brushes and avoid being "kited". Frequently charge at him when he attempts to attack you. You could lose some farm during this process but he's also losing out on farm too since he's running away from the minions. Purchase sustain items such as [items/dorans-shield.png] and [items/catalyst-the-protector.png]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair Match

[champ/akali.png][champ/darius.png][champ/fizz.png][champ/ezreal.png][champ/irelia.png][champ/leesin.png][champ/garen.png][champ/olaf.png][champ/riven.png][champ/jax.png][champ/jarvaniv.png][champ/renekton.png][champ/khazix.png]

Notice how most of them are melee champions. They might out-damage Singed in melee range but Singed can always kite them. Try saving your fling only when they use "gap closers" on you. Avoid fighting them in melee range. Purchase Sustain items like [items/dorans-shield.png] and [items/catalyst-the-protector.png] and you'll slowly find yourself winning in lane.

How to beat Olaf: Purchase HP and Damage items. Always keep higher than 50%hp
Flat True Damage really hurts. How do we stop him from using Reckless Swing (True Damage) so often? Yes, kill him faster! Purchase sustain and damage items like [items/rod-of-ages.png]. Poison the minion wave so that he can't life steal off them without eating your poison. If he dares to come in melee range with you, perform a Sky auto attack (Poison ON + Fling + Auto Attack) as you're taking the hit from Reckless Swing. If he throws an axe and chases you, throw [skills/singed/w.png] and kite him with [skills/singed/q.png]. This is how you trade hits against Olaf.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Farm Lane

[champ/chogath.png][champ/galio.png][champ/malphite.png][champ/nasus.png][champ/shen.png][champ/sion.png][champ/trundle.png][champ/warwick.png][champ/volibear.png]
Notice how these champions have incredible sustain. You should build sustainability items, push your lane hard and take over the jungle for even more exp.

How to beat Warwick: Build high sustain and Magic Resist
Warwick is the only champion you would start with [items/regrowth-pendant.png] instead of Boots. Rush [items/force-of-nature.png] and just keep farming while you're tanking his Hungering Strike. Keep your poison on so that he wouldn't chase you. This match up really becomes a farm lane.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy Lane

[champ/gangplank.png][champ/talon.png][champ/tryndamere.png][champ/pantheon.png]
Build [items/ninja-tabi.png] and you're good to go! Just don't get poked too hard! There's no way these champions can beat you post 6.

How to beat Gangplank: Avoid being auto attacked early.
He'll shoot you with his pistol often but that will just drain his mana and will not do enough damage to beat your 4 health potions. Avoid fighting in melee range early because he will be able to chase you forever with the slow stacks. Is this hard enough? Now here's the easy part: Rush [items/ninja-tabi.png] and you can do whatever you want. You'll easily win in damage trades and win lane.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Singed's Preys

[champ/fiora.png][champ/masteryi.png][champ/poppy.png]
You can literally run around with poison and still win.

How to beat Poppy: Go full tank
Leave your [skills/singed/e.png]damage at level 1 and upgrade other abilities. Push the minions against her tower and keep harassing her by poisoning around your minions. Your tanky build not only prevents her from fighting back against you but also help you survive in ganks. When she's lower than 30% health, finish her up by performing Sky Auto Attack followed by [summoners/ignite.png].
Master Singed Setup (No longer Exists :D) 1 Build is the best

If you have Mastered
  • Landing Perfect Mega Adhesive
  • Executing Perfect Fling
  • Performing Perfect Void Toss
  • Relentlessly Leashing Perfect Sky Auto Attack
  • Always Winning Lane no matter how many times you get ganked/die

You might want to consider the following set-up and show the world how threatening your Singed is.

Master Runes

Switch all Mark of Insight runes to Mark of Destruction (1.0 Ar.pen. + 0.57 M.pen.) runes.
You are sacrificing 3.4 magic penetration for 9 armor penetration. According to my calculations, in theory, your DPS will roughly stay about the same, which will still depend on how frequent you Auto Attack. The major difference is that you'll be able to kill Jungle Monsters slightly faster (your Auto Attacks will do 9% more DMG at MAX) and you'll be able to last hit minions easier without the aid of your abilities which cost mana. Keep in mind that expert Singed players can actually increase their dps even further with Destruction runes by landing more auto attacks on their foes.

Master Masteries/Summoner Spells

[summoners/teleport.png][summoners/ghost.png]

With this setup, you will be able to be present anywhere around the map and eventually carry your team with your awesome Teleport ganks. Because you're taking Teleport, you need its Mastery and MasterMind to suffice for its long CoolDown. You'll also be able to use Ghost, which is the only Summoner Spell that you can rely on in lane, more frequently. To get those Masteries, you have no choice but to give up the 2 points in Indomitable. I also take out 3 points on Vigor for Intelligence Mastery because 6% Cooldown is much better than 3HP/5 and I no longer need to fill up Defensive Mastery Tree anyway. Are you still not convinced that Intelligence is better than Vigor? 30% CDR vs 15HP5? Still no?

Master Item Builds

??????????????????<coming soon>

Procedure

0. Beg your Jungler to gank other lanes; In all chat, taunt your enemy Jungler to camp your lane
1. Win your Lane
2. Invade Enemy Jungle and steal their head monsters such as Blue Wraith, Big golem, and Lizard
3. In all chat, remind your enemy Jungler how you took all his Jungle. Also tell him that his top lane is losing really hard to you so that he should camp your lane.
4. Waste your enemy Jungler's time. Kill both of them in 1v2 fights.
5. Tell your support to put a ward in bottom lane brush. Give your Bot Lane a good gank with [summoners/teleport.png]
6. Take Dragon
7. Push your lane and constantly Counter Jungle/Gank Mid Lane
8. Carry your team by taking out Towers with them. Ask your other lanes to camp a losing lane with you
Composer's Lab

This place used to discuss the viability of other builds such as [items/sheen.png][items/nashors-tooth.png][items/muramana.png][items/spirit-of-the-elder-lizard.png] but Riot did a great job in balancing those items.

[champ/singed.png] now only has 1 build. Yay~

Here is one of the BIG plays I made from that SAME replay (epic scene approved by jumpinthepack)
Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions, I made a FAQ guide on reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1e5cc1/ama_invertedcomposer/

Ask me anything there
#1: No [skills/singed/w.png] at level 4? How do you expect to survive a gank?
  • Very very good question. [skills/singed/w.png] can indeed save you in many sticky situations. If you think you really need it, then you might as well just get it. However, you need to realize that it costs a lot of mana and can become useless if you don't use it. You also have [summoners/exhaust.png][summoners/ghost.png] to slow/haste yourself. Moreover, level 1 fling, which costs 100 mana, is just not worth casting for only 100 damage. You need to upgrade this ability to get ahead in your lane. Some might say "it's only 50 damage and costs 10 more mana" but every little advantage counts early game just as runes do. In a way, this is just like getting 2 points on indomitable instead of Mastermind. Of course Mastermind (15% CDR on Summoner Spells) is so much better but practically you don't use summoner spells as soon as they become available all the time.

#2: Do you Stream?
  • No. I play games for fun and not as a job. Streaming is just too much for my computer to handle, could ruin my schedule, and I do not wish to encounter Singed target bans ("Ghosting"). I might post some videos though in near future (Last Update: Oct.29th 2012)

#3: Spell Vamp on Singed?
  • No. Singed scales very poorly with spell vamp. Because Singed is a melee hero, he usually purchases a lot of HP items. In addition, with his poison, he only life steals 1/3 of his spell vamp value for it being AOE. Therefore Spell Vamp is not good enough for Singed's relatively high HP and he also life steals less than other AP carries. If Singed deals 3000 Magic Damage after resistance calculations and he has 12% spell vamp, he'll only regain 120 HP.

#4: Gold Items?
  • No. Realize how [items/philosophers-stone.png] only generates 300g/10minutes and [items/kages-lucky-pick.png] only generates 240g/10minutes? They are never worth it even on Supports unless if you are upgrading those items into something else

#5: Rengar, Teemo, Darius, and Kayle are so OP (QQ)
  • Change your strategy. You always have to evaluate both you and your enemy's strengths/weaknesses. If you decide to let your enemy poke you every time you last hit a minion and you are out of potions, you are in a serious disadvantage. Play more aggressive and zone them with your poison. If you're behind, consider "tower hugging" against melee champions and farm behind enemy's tower as long as you have at least [skills/singed/r.png] or [summoners/ghost.png] available.

League Lessons

I usually make it free (just like this guide which took me 60 hours to make/update) when it comes to sharing my knowledge with others, but because so many people are asking for free lessons, I will be charging them $15/session (a bit longer than an hour) to limit that number.

For private league lessons I can go with $15 per 2~3 game (approx. 1hour in total). I won't be strict about the time and I will teach you until you understand everything. I highly recommend you to read this guide thoroughly so that I don't have to waste our time teaching you the same information that you can look up in my guide for free. I usually teach people in this order:

  • The importance of Jungle Monsters/taking advantage of taking Golems/Wraiths/Wolves before minions spawn (2minutes)
  • Lane tactics (Top): knowing when to push/freeze minions, escaping gank tips, harassing, trading hits, denying farm, etc (2minutes)
  • In-depth build explanations, the importance of stats, utility, etc (30 seconds)
  • Strategy of winning the game/carrying your team as Top Laner (1 minute)
  • 1v1 with me in top lane and I'll tell you what to improve on (50minutes)

@mario, that would be SirhcEz as Ranka Lee quit, SirhcEz was also challenger not too long ago and known for his unmeta singed build (SotSW+Lich Bane), which Inverted hates. He now stream on smurfs.

Ranka lee is a great singed player, but he based his whole guide and play style off InvertedComposer, until he decided to play his own way. His guide was called "the mind of a InvertedComposer follower." before changing the name.

My point is, as a player, Ranka lee and InvertedComposer are both great, and it is wrong just say one is better than the other unless InvertedComposer or Ranka lee want to say the other is better.

I myself like InvertedComposer more only because he inspired Ranka lee.
  • Yup, ranka lee now is best singed in NA
  • http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/35673782 This player is called ranka lee he is an ex challenger (stopped playing for a while not sure how active he is right now) singed only player, the reason the amount of games that he has played is low on this account is because his other one got banned (from i'm guessing dodging queues when he couldn't singed. http://www.solomid.net/guides.php?g=43122-lamiegendsmurf-singed-build-guide This is his guide on this website. Though being unappreciated and seen as a rip off of inverted composer, ranka lee has often taken the charge of what build is best for singed. For example the tear of goddess main build we see nowadays for singed came from ranka lees guide and then pros started using it in lcs. You can notice ranka and inverted both have similar item builds in their guide, but it was ranka who was the first one of the two who said using tear was better whereas inverted composer used the rod of ages opening for a longer time. Ranka lee has also played more games as singed this season then inverted, and inverted has actually been maining none other then yorick this season over singed. This guide is definetly fantastic, but rankas credentials also have to be recognized and his guide is the one I use more (I still use both), ranka also put an insane amount of time into his guide and often responded to questions.

@RSM Kierra errr not going to say that this guides isn't the best.. But there are other guides that contend with this. In your opinion it may be the best but there is a guide I actually like more then this one. So don't immediately shut down any other contender because there are people who have played singed for just as long and just as well.

Rod of Ages gives 812.5HP & 80 AP
    Seraph's Embraces gives 250 HP + 550 Shield = 800 HP & 120 AP

Getting Tear of Goddess allows you to fling your enemy infinitely in lane and you can also rush Rylais Crystal Scepter which is better than Rod of Ages in 0 stack.

@SoLunAether: You may get Twin Shadows if it can replace Thornmail. That means enemy team better have 4 AP and a weak AD carry. 20 MR reduction (10% extra magic damage when enemy has 100 MR or 20% extra magic damage when enemy has 20 MR) is not to be underestimated when a lot of your damage also comes from Liandry's Torment and Thornmail

Hi Inverted. What are your thoughts on using Twin Shadows instead of Abyssal in certain situations? The movespeed is great, the active allows for improved chasing, and the stats are pretty comparable for its cost. Have you experimented much with it? Thanks for the great guide, btw!
