Mordekaiser, Master of Metal... or better dominance? Slavery?
The Main focus for Mordekaiser is, to chase the enemy carrys down to the ground. You are not a real Tank! You are that one that makes the opponent carrys cry deeply!
This build uses more magic resistance and armor than health points. On lvl 18 your shield has 630 additional "health points" so you really dont need to stack HP's. if you mitigate the damage of the enemy you will stand longer because the shield lasts longer and the shield will be easily regenerated. You can see your shield as a HP puffer that can be permanently refreshed. Less dmg you take results in longer surviabilty.(logic, right? :) )
Skill OrderWhy i picked the skill-ups as mentioned above.
I play morde mostly solo, so ive got to farm and harass much. Mace of Spades is a great spell, but it doesnt have a long range, you have to be in melee range to creeps to make it work. Siphon of Destruction has more range and its better to farm gold.
Second maxed skill would be Creeping Death, because it can be offensive and defensive. If you cant get far from your tower (i.e: vs. Ashe) because you get harassed much, you can put your shield on your "tank"-creeps and keep farming.
Or if you can be aggressive you can put your creeping death to the frontline on your creeps and ge behind their wave to block/harass the opponent.
Another good situation for Creeping Death is, when your opponent attacks you, you got a bit more armor and magic resistance (obvious, isnt it? :) ).
RunesWhy i get the runes mentioned above:
- Red: Magic Penetration: All your skills deal magic damage... any doubts?
- Quint: Flat Health: Morde starts with low health, i compensate that with runes.
- Yellow: I use either Armor or dodge-runes atm, i feel tankier with it...
- Blue: MR/lvl or flat MR: I use Flat or per lvl MagicResist runes to be a bit more tankier in early game.
Also viable runes:
- Quint: MagicPenetration, Flat HP regen, Flat AP runes, movementspeed
- Yellow: Flat Hp, Hp per lvl, dodge, hp regen per level
- Blue: CDR, CDR/lvl, flat AP, Ap/lvl,
but keep in mind, your runes should synergize with your build.
If you get dodge runes think about getting at least 9 points in def masteries to get the 2% dodge and 10% movement after a dodge.
Why teleport over ingite?
For example, ask your bot lane to ward the second bush on lane, you see the enemie AD carry below 40% hp and still not backing, you tp on that ward collect a kill and a dragon. = better than having ignite imo.
+ it is your insurance to not loose your lane. Morde is very weak early game.
ItemsWith Sunfire Cape you've got ~200 more flat HP.
With Randiuns Omen you've got ~200 less flat health, BUT ~700 more effective armor-health!
+ the defensive attack slow proc. Not to mention the active ability, which is awesome in teamfights and to compensate your lack of CC!
Armor % = Armor / (100 + Armor) in our case: 234 / 334 = 70,06 %
Effective Armor-Health: 1/(1-0,7006) * Health(2739) =9148,296(Randiuns Omen)
Sunfire has +100 Health and -30 armor compared to Randuins
Armor % = 204/304 = 67,10%
Effective Armor-Health: 1/(1-0,6710) * (2739+100) = 8629,179
9148,296- 8629,179 = 519,117
in Addition: Randiuns Omen slows the attack speed of enemie AD carries.
Now its obvious, if you think about it, the effective-MR-Health must be higher with sunfire cape, yes, but Randuins and Sunfirecape are Armor-items, so i compare them under physical damage.
Which items not to get:
, this is absolutely a no-go, its makes you more vulnerable vs. Madreds. It does not help you much because it has no armor and Magic resistance (as mentioned above, your shield needs that) so it makes "Iron Man" useless because it will be easily "killed".
I would not advice to get Hextech-Gunblade early, it is funny, yes, but under the condition that you want to optimize your Morde I would not get it. This item scales only good on Q, but that isnt your bread and butter spell. You want W E R.
It might be good as a last item (very lategame) when u want to have, your own and only for you, Spell Vamp.
If you got a player with in your team, you can go for .
If no one from you team bought WotA, you might choose and not , if your team needs it.
Always keep in mind, you have to counter the enemy team. If you are faceing a heavy physical dmg team, build your Randuins early.
The decision between and is hard.
100% Choose vs double AD.
New Item Build
Why and from what did i change my "Main-Item-Build"?
I swapped my Main Build from:
Runes: red Mpen, yellow 3 flat-armor and 6 health-regen/lvl, blue MR/lvl, 2 Flat hp quints and 1 Movementspeed Quint.
Items: Sorc Shoes, Force of Nature, Randiuns, Rylais, Guardian Angel, Abyssal Scepter
Runes: red Mpen, yellow armor, blue MR/lvl, 2 Flat hp quints, 1 Movement Speed quint.
The main reason is, that i had too much expensive items in my build, which resulted in even less viability in early game.
Starting with the new build, counters your opponent much better ( or ). Additional you can have at least 2 HP potions.
I chose , because it grants CDR, a bit of life and more regeneration!
After patch v184.108.40.206, Spirit Visage increases the Amount of Health gained by Spell Vamp, so imo there is a good synergy between a Hextech/Wota and Spirit Visage. Additional, you gain more gegeneration because of you ultimate.
The new Core Item Build: .
AFTER NERFHey, you might have read it: Mordes Shield got nerfed.
So i had to adjust my build to compensate the lack of Shield Regeneration.
I swapped the movementspeed quint and the MR/Lvl blues to flat AP and start right away with an .
This way all you spells deal massively more damage, which regenerates your shield faster!
Still everything in testing. I cant tell you if this plan works 100%, but im really confident with that runepage so far.
So now after more testing Mdk. I changed my runes AGAIN.
This time Im trying a very tanky/sustained rune-page.
The same page some Rumble players use.
Mpen, Flat Armor, Flat MR, Flat hp/5 Quints.
Btw Mordekaiser players get flamed again (at least in Eu). Huehuehue.
Swapped runes again.
Morde got buffed again ! (a little.)
Iron Man (Passive) shield amount increased to 35% from 30%
Siphon of Destruction damage increased to 70/115/160/205/250 from 65/105/145/185/225
Early GameBe careful in early game, Mordekaiser is a shit early game champ. Have a ward on your lane asap, you are vulnerable to ganks. Farm as much as you can, thats your goal for now. Try to keep up your W on yourself, when you are harassed.
If you got W on you and you stand in a creep wave, in that case you wouldnt receive much damage.
Try to push as least as possibly ( in most cases not possible).
What i did wrong vs this WW:
- I took Amplifying Tome first
- I tanked the tower too long, where it wasnt needed.
Late GameCheck your enemies for you need to kill that champion with your ult, dont use it for damage purposes, use it to "lasthit" the champ.
Always try to get off all banshees with your E-Skill.
Check your enemies for "Penetration"-Items, those Items will counter you hard!
So try to evade champions, that have those.
It is advisable to get blue-buff if you can. CDR melts faces.
Team Fights1 Rule:
Go for the AD-Carry-Enemy! and get their soul to rip the enemy-team.
Ask your carries for the right focus.
By the way: The souls damage will be partial converted to your shield. :O
Final CommentsGet ready to be flamed to the ground... " OLOLOLO NOOB MORDE, USELESS PICk"
I love to play Mordekaiser...
My current stats for Morde are:
- 143 won
- 59 loss
= 70,8% win-ratio
current soloq rateing: 2004
142 Double Kills
30 Tripple Kills
6 Quadra Kills
1 Penta Kill
Avg. Stats: 5.9 / 3.2 / 7.0
dont try to lane Morde on a duo lane, in 90% of all cases that will fail imo.
You need a solo lane to outlevel them. (Solo Lane + Awareness is always good )
Play safe early levels, you are weak as fu** earlygame.
Mordekaiser is a Anti-Fed-Champions-Champion. Your team fed enemie AD carry in early game? np, give his soul to me.
I will write more on Morde later.
